Ate here for an early dinner on a weekday. I'm always craving jalapeño poppers, so I ordered the popper roll and it hit the spot. My dad got a bento box and the portions were large enough that we ended up taking leftovers home. Very kind staff!

When we arrived luckily there was no wait and were sat immediately. Luckily it was only a couple moments before a party of maybe 12 arrived behind us for dinner. Our host and server were helpful and efficient. We quickly scanned through their menu and decided on their combos (pork cutlet and tempura) Our trays of paradise quickly arrived and looked beautiful! ( see attached for reference ) i loved the balanced presentation and blend of flavors. Each tray had some miso, a 4 bite California roll, some rice, soba noodles, broth, wasabi and ginger. Mine came with some dipping sauce for the tempura. Considering the amount of food I was very satisfied. The tempura was gorgeously crafted with semi thin crisped batter, and a decent amount portioned. I was mostly amazed by my girlfriends pork plate. Their crisp cutlet had beautifully made with an easy crunchy exterior and soft tender pork savory to taste. All elements complimented each other perfectly. Their soba was also good quality and a nice touch to an already balanced dinner. While I was exactly stuffed after dinner, i was still impressed with their entree presentation, quality of food, calming ambiance and great service.

When we arrived for lunch, the place was quite festive with a mixture of young people, families with kids, and an ongoing lunch party with senior ladies. Luckily, we were able to get the last table, and the friendly waiter brought the water and menus right away. After browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items: Special Fish Combo (Spanish Mackerel): The Spanish mackerel was nicely grilled but lightly seasoned. It had quite a few bones, which took a little bit out of the enjoyment of the meal. The udon noodles had a very nice texture, however the broth was on the bland side. The California rolls were well made and flavorful. Tempura Combo: The shrimps were tender, however, the battered outer layer of the tempura was a tad thick and not quite airy. Like Fish Combo, the udon had a bland broth, and the California rolls were fine. Our main issue was the 50-minute wait time for the meals. As a courtesy, the restaurant definitely should have informed us about the delay.

When we arrived, we ended up waiting about 30 minutes for a table for just two people, even though there were clearly open tables inside. During that entire time, none of the staff acknowledged us or gave any updates. We were also the only ones waiting, which made it even more frustrating. After finally being seated, I asked for the 50% off menu, and that's when they told us they were already out of stock. This completely defeated the purpose of us coming in, especially since we had called ahead to confirm. This isn't the first time I've had issues here either. On a previous visit, we weren't seated despite there being open tables. Overall, the lack of communication and organization is really disappointing. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back.

The menu is unique, blending Japanese flavors with perfectly cooked spaghetti, and every dish tastes like it's been refined over decades. We've been coming since day one and everything is still fabulous after all these years. The pasta is consistently cooked al dente, the sauces are rich and flavorful without being heavy, and the ingredients always taste fresh. Whether you're ordering a classic mentaiko pasta, a creamy uni dish, or one of their garlic-based specialties, every plate is packed with flavor. The house-made bread is outstanding and the famous $1 salad is a must-order. The restaurant itself is cozy and unpretentious, which adds to its charm. If you're a pasta lover or simply looking for something different from the usual Italian restaurant experience, this place is absolutely worth the visit. I'll definitely be back.

Walking in on a Saturday, the place was buzzing with patrons, so I knew this had to be up to par with many of the ono spots serving Japanese and Hawaiian cuisine in the area. My friend I chose to order two dishes. Our choices were the Ladybug Fried Chicken and Fried Rice with Char Siu. The Fried Rice comes with Miso Soup. The Miso Soup was served first. It had a light and savory broth that was comforting. It had a good umami rich miso flavor and made for a good soothing start for the meal. Up next, we got to try the Fried Rice with Char Siu. The Fried Rice had a surprising reddish color that perfectly matched the char siu. It added a nice visual cue to the sweet, smoky flavor. The Ladybug Fried Chicken was my favorite. It was freshly fried, golden and crispy. I enjoyed the juicy and tender meat and the crunchy outside. It is served with rice, green salad and potato-mac. I wish there was an option to upgrade to fried rice because this fried chicken really paired well with the fried rice. Nevetheless, I did enjoy this chicken with the potato-mac as well. The potato-mac was creamy and was so ono. Overall, Ladybug Cafe is a solid spot in Gardena for some classic Japanese and Hawaiian eats!
