All the food was fresh and delicious. Japanese seafood interior vibe. Service was friendly, prompt, and helpful. The yellowtail was fresh. The tempura was crispy and perfectly cooked. Great place for Japanese food!

We decided to try this sushi place in town that we have always been curious about. Taka's Grill, this is a casual and cozy spot for Japanese eats, including sushi, teriyaki, and tempura dishes. We all ordered different sushi rolls and then were able to sample from each others plates. The food was delicious and freshly prepared as ordered. The waitress was extremely polite and efficient. The place was clean.

So generous with the hotate and avocado.

What an amazing little gem. I came in just before the rush and spoke with Taka and Lenora my bright, cheerful and attentive server. Such a warm welcoming vibe. They serve real gen mai cha tea which is a breath of warm nutty fresh air. Everything was amazing. Hamachi carpaccio was my favorite. The dressing was so bright and tangy, opening up the flavors generously with the delicate hamachi melting in my mouth. And the pickled peppercorns, ZOMG ... I wanted a whole side dish! Amazing spicy hotatate (scallop) hand roll with generous hotate, avocado and tobiko. Miso was on point. I finished with the shishito spicy maguro tempura and it was the perfect warm dish to finish my meal. So FULL I forgot to take a picture is was so excited about the shishito. I grew up in a Japanese household and worked at some amazing and famous Japanese restaurants in Seattle, Las Vegas and more. This has a nice balance of fresh raw dishes, warm Japanese tapas and big hot meals for those comfort days. Whatcha waiting for? Get your nom on. PSA. Everything is made fresh. Don't complain about long wait times if you want freshly made food from scratch with love. Go to McDonald's? Sheesh.

The food and service was very good. The sushi tasted fresh and the tempura was delicious. My wife had the beef curry and she said it had the spice and the taste of great Japanese curry. Would definitely come here again.

Food was okay - it reminded me of store bought sushi. Staff were helpful and nice. Green salad I ordered was great.

Best sushi in fort Bragg. The fish is fresh, cuts are generous. I recommend the seared ahi roll & the sashimi combo.

They have a very large selection of sake, and the servers know and talk with the locals which is so nice to see in our modern society. The sashimi was absolutely stunningly good. Every dish was fantastic (we did the chef tasting menu - 5 course meal) and at the end we both looked at the Michelin guide because "this place has to be rated!) Usually we like sitting at the bar to see the chefs do their thing, but this place is not like that at least the night we went to which was surprising cause Japanese establishments typically are cooking out in the open. They had a lot of different sakes which was really nice to see but no draft beer unless I missed it. They let you pick a cup for your sake which is so cute, I loved that. All their table wear was so beautiful. We got a fruity sake first and loved that one. The second one was the "goku" it was giving straight sake. I'd prolly stick to fruitier ones. The server was very kind and she was easy to talk to and provided great service. As for the food, I thought it was pretty okay! We ordered the omakase which was $75 per person and it was very filling. We had trout sashimi which had some bite texturally not my fave fish tbh. Potato Salad which a jammy egg omg I loved it but wondered how it'd taste if the egg was marinated. The mushroom soup was lemony and oniony it was pretty good. The karage could've been crispier imo and I wish the wasabi aoli was a lil different but it was still good. The robata was hella good my fave was the meatball one, I'm not a big fan of cartilage but that it very well cooked, and I appreciated the pile seasoning provided as well. The strawberry topped panna cotta was so good no notes. Overall, pretty good and I'd go again if I was in this area and order individual dishes especially the potato salad and panna cotta. Not really the vibe of an izakaya imo but def a nice Japanese restaurant with some twists.

The family had the pleasure of visiting Fort Bragg a couple of times this spring and the restaurants are good there, but Cowlick's Ice Cream is not to be missed! Everybody, but everybody is standing in line at Cowlick's Ice Cream, waiting to get some great one-of-a-kind ice cream flavors, floats, and toppings in downtown Fort Bragg. They have regular cones, sugar cones, waffle cones, and my favorite, chocolate dipped waffle cones! Ice creams can be adorned with with toppings galore and surely you will want to eat a nutritious meal, but may just go back for more ice cream! My personal favorite ice cream is the Hokey Pokey Honeycomb ice cream (on rotation, it is not available all the time). It is creamy and filled with honeycomb candy from a local Fort Bragg candy store! (Unfortunately for us, their the candy retail shop closed). The hubby and offspring went for and enjoyed the more traditional Rocky Road ice cream. Next trip I plan to try their ice cream sammys! The shop is clean and spacious, with plenty of places to sit inside and enjoy ice cream or shakes while watching the goings on in downtown Fort Bragg. I have never been there when there wasn't a wait to order, but it is well worth it! Locals and tourists alike can be consulted on flavor, cone or float choices. The clock is conveniently broken because when enjoying ice cream, who really cares about the time? So yeah, go spoil your next meal with some Cowlick's Ice Cream goodness! They won't disappoint! If you by chance get addicted to the ice cream, I found the local grocery stores carry pints to go! Lucky us!
