I came to Take-a-Break Cafe with my uncle and my aunt in the morning on Sunday the 5th of September 2021. I treated them to a breakfast out. The workers were friendly and the restaurant clean. One booth table was open, which we lucked out and got, and a few spots were open in the parking lot. When it came to payment, it was easy to get the bill before my uncle and aunt, who are regulars here, could grab it. I appreciate the wait staff didn't interfere and not let me pay. My uncle and my aunt both ordered scrambles, which were in the $12-14 price range and I went with a $9 ham burrito. The burrito was tasty, though the tortilla could have been a little softer. Some places provide huge portions, the portions here were manageable and the burrito was just the right amount of food for a morning meal with no leftovers. The scrambles and accompanying sides were not too large of portions either and my uncle and aunt greatly enjoyed them.

This is the epitome of a hole in the wall restaurant. What they lack in space they make up for in taste. My daughter and I both had the Dryden scramble with sourdough toast and it was really good. The host and waitress were very pleasant and on top of making sure we were good throughout the whole meal

2 years in a row eating breakfast here. Excellent food and service. Do not nibble on anything before coming, they fill the plate with excellent food and keep your coffee cup full. The only negative is the home made biscuits could use some help, they are a little dry and bland. read more

It was nothing special, I was really surprised considering the reviews. Big portions doesn't always mean good food, plus our waitress, a short brunette haired woman, started off our experience with a very bad attitude. So rude. Was it bad enough to walk out? No. Was it worth the drive from our home at Lake Wenatchee, no again. Won't go back. read more

Took my mom out for breakfast and we wandered into Take A Break Cafe in Dryden...What a find! Breakfast menu is filled with traditional fare and some specialities of their own. Sweet little place off Highway 2, great people running it, but best off all, real food prepared with flair and taste. Bacon Spinach Eggs Benedict was fresh, tangy and delicious. Eggs were perfect. The whole menu offered nice touches that spoke of homemade care . They had a small print of The Blues Brothers on the wall and they were playing a Pandora station that featured Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Just driving through on our way to Leavenworth we wanted something simple like quick diner food. The place was pretty packed so we sat at the bar. My boyfriend had an omelette and I had a grilled sandwich with a cup of soup. We were so glad we stopped, we might just make this our go-to when we are driving through there from now on! Very small old time feel Cafe. Ordered the Denver omelet,it was more like eggs half folded over a ton of onions with some bell peppers and ham mixed in. It wasn't bad. The toast was really good. The best breakfast in the valley by far. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The So-Be-it is fanominal choice of breakfast meats 3 eggs done how you like either hash browns with cheese and grilled onions on top or crispy delightful homefries all stacked on biscuits and topped with there amazing sage sausage gravy. There chicken fried steak is done right. They take a patite serloine and pound it out. I've never been a fan because I hate ground beef but the way they cook this dish has changed my mind. (At while eating there) I ordered the chocolate chip French toast for my little one and had to keep myself from snacking off his plate when they served it with salted caramel! Its absolutely to die for. All in all this place puts out very quality food for a super fair price. Eat here they won't dissapiont! read more

Thanks for the reccomend! I had to try the bread pudding French toast (4.00) and the half order of chicken fried steak (8.00)....you can see how much I had left over from the large portions. I don't typically like bread pudding but the French toast was amazing! The chicken fried steak was very good as well. Tons of great food for the money! read more

Breakfast is my favorite meal, and I'm hard to please -- but Take a Break put a smile on my face every morning for a week. Their French toast was the best I've ever had; the bread was chewy with a crisp cinnamon-flavored crust and perfectly cooked in the middle -- my favorite of all time! The omelette was wonderful, too; fresh-cut fried potatoes were excellent and the 12-grain toast was dense and scrumptious. Good prices. Good people. GREAT breakfast! Wish they were in Seattle so I could go more often. read more

Truly gourmet. The outside doesn't look like much as I've driven by many times. Stopped in for an early breakfast and was pleasantly surprised to see homemade items such as corned beef hash and a crab cake Benedict on the menu. The corned beef was hand cut and chunky, the crab excellent as well as the scratch chimichurri sauce. Huge biscuits! Very inexpensive and the portions were substantial. No breakfast place in Leavenworth even comes close to the quality here! Go early as they have less than a dozen tables and it can fill up fast with local repeat diners who have discovered a great secret. read more

Back for breakfast two days in a row should be a good enough recommendation as we almost never do an immediate return. Went with the bacon spinach tomato eggs Benedict today as I had corned beef hash yesterday. Both were excellent. Best hash I have had in a long time. Biscuit was so good yesterday, ordered another today as a side. Be hungry or share. Best value in the Leavenworth area. A two person operation and they seem to somehow keep up with good sevice. Went there today at the urging of a local vendor down the road. Place as a hole in the wall. Hard to see. BUT, the food was amazing. I had a blue cheese bacon burger. It was in the top 5 most amazing burgers I've ever had. The curly fries were amazing as well. My wife had the corned beef and it was great. Kids had the Philly Cheesesteak (amazing) and one of the breakfasts (mostly excellent). We also had a strawberry and apple pie. Both were very good. The only bad thing I found was the service was a bit slow. Many times our waters were empty, and it took about 15 minutes from the time we were seated until we placed our order. read more

The honey butter mixture was not overly sweet, the butter and honey perfectly mixed together as a great topping for the crispy outside and tender inside waffles. They offered maple syrup on the side as well. The Irish coffee was filled with the aroma of the Irish whiskey but not overpowering by it. It was a great blend. The server was so friendly, hospitable, helpful, totally recommend you!

($4/hour). Better than our hotel breakfast, but that would have been free.

This place is as good as it gets. Food is absolutely top notch and prices will keep me coming back! Best value in the area by FAR! I've had most dishes on the menu now and every single one has been excellent. They actually make food! Like home made REAL food, and you can tell!!! Also, free coffee is a very nice gesture! Portion sizes are huge and I'm always taking food home. Homemade corned beef hash is great, every sandwich is awesome, homemade soups are excellent, blue cheese omelet is amazing, burgers are incredible, french toast is to die for...Gosh everything is so good. The only thing I really hope for is that this business keeps the prices low. I've seen so many restaurants start doing well and jack up their prices and then locals don't come back. As long as the prices and portion sizes are reasonable I will continue coming back. I LOVE this place and since it's affordable, I can come back more often! Good job guys!!! read more

Let's start with this: they bring you your own coffee carafe when you sit down. An entire carafe. Then there are seasonally appropriate menu items and some that are just fun. Breakfast is delicious... And healthy, if you want it to be. The servers drop the check when they are convinced your are satisfied, and you pay up front when you leave. Great authentic made fresh daily breakfast and lunch. I take my family here quit a bit. The reason for not suggesting 5 stars is their coffee. They can do a heck of a lot better picking the right coffee. Fresh ground bold coffee to align with the fresh food. read more
