My first time here. Well greeted at the door, staff is very polite and attentive. I got the ham breakfast it was a big portion of ham, the entire breakfast was delicious. Then have TV's to watch as you enjoy your meal. They have a diner type vibe where it's almost like your home with the Family.

I've always seen Tal's Cafe around but after seeing a few videos and reviews on it, I decided to give it a try. I thought this was a pretty good neighborhood restaurant with super affordable prices and the food was decent as well. It was refreshing knowing there are still original and black owned restaurants in our neighborhood.

The foods good but the waits horrendous I don't think they have a good system I ordered 1 2x2 which is just bacon, eggs, and pancakes and it took them over an hour to do it

Tal's Cafe is now under new management, and they are working hard to ensure the quality of the food reflects a return to the restaurant's glory days in the 1980s when I first discovered it. Unfortunately, the food is a hit and miss. A few weeks ago the food was good. However, today the burger patty was burnt, and the wings were fried in old grease that caused my relative to have diarrhea. Parking can be a challenge, especially on street-sweeping days. I would also suggest that they encourage customers not to linger outside the restaurant to smoke weed.

My first time coming here was with my walk/run club. On the days we came there was music videos or tiny desk concerts on the television and we world be in there laughing and singing. Love the friendly neighborhood atmosphere. It's small but kinda cozy. You feel welcomed here and I love that. The food is decent.... I'm not gonna lie, it isn't always the same and I think it may depend on the cook that day. I recently had a pick up order for breakfast and it was delicious. I don't usually eat pancakes but I love them at Tal's.

Fried Catfish, scrambled eggs, buttery grits, and toast.

I wanted to give them 5 starts but the wait for your food was close to an hour. No joke. We happen to go on a Saturday ( I know, I know..) but that was the only time we could get together. We arrived at about 10am, getting a table was ok. We waited about 10 min for the server then coffee. And then 45-50 minute wait for our order. The food was good. I ordered Catfish breakfast. It was over cooked. The grits were yummy. Good size portions. And the server was great.

    5 wing pieces....no tips....eggs were perfect!

Entered to smiles and a welcome! We sat ourselves at a clean booth! I loved the life quotes on the black painted walls and, always love, seeing my President Obama and family portrait on the wall! Ok, in all honesty, Definitely go there hungry! Not starving! Hungry. Good food takes time, lol! Kudos to our server, Unique! She was thorough in explaining and answering all our questions. My veggie omelette was hot and perfectly prepared (well done) and I had a side order of the grits. My only complaint, they were not hot grits! Come on! . My husband had five pieces of chicken, wings, no wing tips, with his perfect eggs and well done waffle (which arrived late but I digress), he enjoyed everything, even the late to the table waffles! We will be back! Ty! P.S. was not a problem.

My first time visiting this place and it was such a vibe! The staff were courteous and down-to-earth, the service was excellent and the food was sooo good! I'm very picky when it comes to my grits, no everyone can make them right. These however were PERFECT. I felt like I was back home in my aunties kitchen. The parking isn't good, it's on a Main Street and the side residential street next to it is very strict with parking. When I arrived the owner made an announcement to everyone that we must move our cars to avoid a ticket (I didn't notice the sign that said no parking from like noon to 4pm or something). I was super grateful that she warned us in advance and gave us time to move our vehicles while waiting for our orders!

And basically vibe is a non literal way of saying that a place has a striking and specific atmosphere that matches the objective of the place. For instance, if a beach has a vibe than it offers all that a beach should in a clear and present kind of way. And this place offers a multi-functional coffee house vibe that is clear and present. For instance, I can easily see friends catching up over latte's and croissants and feeling cozy enough to make the chat lazy in a most wonderful way, like laying on a bean bag with no midterms or mortgage payments near. I can also see people producing here. Whether it be beats, plays, books, or corporate re-structuring plan this place has a vibe that communicates one can focus to create. And that is the kind of vibe I like, cause it is the kind of vibe I need when I seek to produce. The focal point of the vibe were the work pods of the place. I took a picture of them and the way I did makes them seem like a row of catacombs or something like that. Something with infinite pillars. Why is sitting in pod important? Will my prose really be that much more impactful if I sit in a pod from this place as oppose to my kitchen table or a regular table that this place offers? Maybe. Perhaps not. But, like, science cannot explain why coffee taste better out of one's "coffee mug" but if one is a coffee drinker and one has a designated mug of their own, then one knows that coffee does taste more exquisite when the mug and the pour become one as vessel and brew. I am thinking the same concept applies here just in a different kind of way. Meaning that the work pod might not have any actual effect but a quasi-placebo or even self-fulfilling prophecy effect take place and make the person impacted produce work that sings better. I know my signatures are better when I use my favorite pen. I read a sign on the pods that ask visitors to only stay for 90 minutes, no more. So the pods of this place are regulated so they must be that important. And I can see why. At the basic level they are engaging to sit in and write within them. The last time I went I ordered one of the best iced coffees I ever had in my life and that is no cap. That felt good writhing, so I will say it anew: I ordered one of the best iced coffees I ever had. Meaning that on a random day, where I expected little, I try something new that makes me happy to be open to new cuisine even if the new cuisine is just a new flavor: Barry White. It was black berry with white chocolate. I expected the combination to fail in pleasing me. But I was wrong. Me. Not the drink. I loved the sweetness of the concoction. I also ordered their sweet potato chicken bowl. Another great set of bites, but not to my liking because I did not ask for the chili to be removed from the chicken bowl. But if the chili was gone I would have described this dish as the bomb or something similar. But the coffee takes the cake. I visited the place just yesterday and they had an exhibition titled the heartbeat of culture. I took a picture of two women just outside the bussiness on a festival day. They were wearing clothing of their cutlture. They were standing tall in pride, supporting each other, and reminding me that all people have a heart that shines brighter when they are wearing something that makes them feel powerful with color pop. This place is certainly a move when one is at Leimert Park or if one needs a place to work and they are just over the Hollywood coffee scene.

The natural light makes it a very welcoming environment. I ordered matcha and the turkey bacon and egg sandwich. It took about 10 min; they had a steady flow of traffic. This is a solid choice for a nice chat or meeting with someone. Check them out!

It was creative, unique, and unlike anything I've had at a typical coffee shop. Unfortunately, the quality of the drink was overshadowed by the way I was treated, and because of that, I won't be returning. From the moment I walked in, I felt invisible. I entered the café and was not greeted by either employee. While I initially brushed it off, I couldn't help but notice that a white customer who entered shortly after me was immediately welcomed by both staff members. As I waited for my drink, I observed a man who appeared to be the owner or manager interacting with customers. He offered a white customer a sample to try, engaged him in conversation, and also spoke with another white customer who had entered separately. Throughout my entire visit, despite standing only a few feet away, he never acknowledged my presence; not with a greeting, a question, or even simple eye contact. The moment that solidified my discomfort came after I received my drink. Wanting to compliment it, I spoke loudly enough for both the employee who made it and the man assisting customers to hear. I said, "Wow, this drink is unbelievable, unlike anything I've had." Both of them looked directly at me and said nothing. There was no "thank you," no smile, no acknowledgment whatsoever. They simply looked at me and returned to what they were doing. I've replayed that interaction in my mind all day because it was blatant racism from the owner/manager who is an Asian man. As a black person, I left feeling unwelcome and excluded after watching other customers receive warmth and engagement that I did not. For that reason, I cannot recommend this business based on my experience.
