I caught them right before closing so they were sold out of everything except pork and chicken. That's good enough for me! The pork was wrapped in banana leaf and that kept it super moist. Flavor was really good. The chicken was wrapped normally and it wasn't as moist but still good. The flavor is so good. All in all this is my new go to spot. read more

THE BEST tamales and arroz con leche. There is a large variety of tamales including sweet tamales. The chicken are not spicy at all and I'm a bigger fan of the tamales de platano. The owner is kind enough to prepare them for you with crema and salsa which I absolutely love. The line can get long sometimes so I like to go early. He only has a limited supply of each item so don't miss out. The owner is so friendly and recognizes his regular which I find very endearing. During the holidays my wife really wanted some tamales for Christmas dinner since our plans changed last minute. Searching through yelp, i found Tamales Irma so i decided to give it a try. In my search it was hard to determine if the other reviews for other places were for the tamales or for other items on the menu. Ended up going on Christmas eve, early in the morning when they opened thinking that it was going to be pretty busy and they would sell out. Ordered the chicken and pork tamales in both the corn husk and banana leaf wrappers. Overall flavors were good but i found that the banana leaf wrapped ones had more moisture and the corn husk ones to be a little dry. The filling and masa ratio was ok but again, I though the banana leaf ones had a better ratio. The tamales also came with a salsa which i thought was excellent and had a good kick. Overall i would recommend this place especially since they are a small business which just focuses on tamales. read more

I was messaged this after my review was posted, but it would have been nice to know this on their main website or something of the sort. Besides the miscommunication, their tamales are quite yummy. I have this thing where I throw away a lot of the carby part of anything because I don't work out. I'll tend to eat the filling, or rip off the doughy bits of things because I just don't want to put in the extra effort to burn some calories lol This doesn't happen there. $8 for 3 banana leaf tamales (1 pork, chicken, and chili cheese), and one normal chicken tamale. The salsa they provide is "fire" haha In regards to size, it's slightly more than a snack, not a meal. Two will get you full, but one will more than satisfy. The chili cheese is prolly my favorite because the surprise tomato was really nice. You don't tend to find that in these types. As for the the chicken, it was tender, but didn't have complete resistance to a fork. I still enjoyed this one. Their salsa is quite flavorful and has a bit of a kick to it. It's quite colorful, with red, green, and brown things floating around. Probably one of the more better salsas I've had. Service was quick and friendly. I paid with cash and was handed my bag of goodies immediately. English was spoken, though the menu is in Spanish. read more

The tamales from this business are really fabulous. They are wrapped in banana leaves - thinner than most tamales - which we all loved - and moist and flavorful. For our Christmas Eve dinner, we got the chicken, pork, jalapeno & cheese, and pineapple tamales. The salsa that comes with them (for purchase) is very hot, but incredibly flavorful. My favorite tamale place to date! I have finally found my banana leaf tamales that not only tastes good, but is cheap! The sign in my picture is inaccurate, chicharrón is offered un banana leaf, not corn husk. I ordered all the savory flavors offered in banana leaf and corn husk wrap and skipped the sweet ones this time. All of the banana leaf wrapped tamales were moist and very flavorful with a very nice leaf flavor infused into the masa. My favorite one of the banana leaf is the chicharrón because it's seasoned so well and doesn't taste dry at all - pork rinds are just nice and fatty. :) None of the flavors particularly stood out to me for the corn husk varieties, but the meat filling definitely seems to be more compared to the banana leaf varieties. I recommend trying any of the corn husk ones, you can't go wrong because it's a really good tamale! Great masa and super cheap! Banana leaf varieties are $1.75 and corn husk varieties are $1.50. The green and red homemade salsa is a must and it's free with your order, just make sure to ask for it. The only thing to note is that they sell out quick and opens early in the morning at 6, but they really usually arrive by 6:30. I waited half an hour for them to open today and saw someone else mention that it's typical they run half an hour late. Super friendly and straightforward guy running the shop so the lines go quickly. This is a food truck so I have a photo to show a more exact location (across from the Flower Nail place). They were wrapped in banana leaves, had plenty of meat, and the masa was flavorful. The guy I interacted with was so very nice and gave me a free corn tamale to try. It was delicious!!!! My daughter and I would drive past this truck everyday on our way to her school. Always busy so we figured it was worth a shot. Sooooooo glad we finally tried it. I prefer beef tamales but he doesn't sell beef so I tried the chicken and I'm so glad I did. These are now my favorite chicken tamales. The salsa is probably one of the best I've ever had. Divine guidance is how I found this Tamale truck.. I was craving tamales and was headed to Northgate (yes, I know Northgate Tamales not the best but I don't have any spots yet) and I saw their Truck. I stopped by and they only had chicken Tamales.. I bought 1 just in case I didn't like at and it was amazing.. Fresh, not dry, masa was good, served with cream, salsa and queso exactly how all tamales should be served.. Needless to say but I bought a couple more..
