I went here for my lunch one day with my good friend, and I'm so glad that she introduced me to this place because I don't think I would've found it by myself. It was very busy for lunchtime, but we were still able to grab a seat and we were taken care of immediately. I will post my pictures below, but I love to get suggestions from the server or staff about what I should try and it was honestly all amazing. They explained the menu and what they thought I would like. I enjoy being able to people watch it as well. It wasn't too loud. The food was absolutely amazing. I can't wait to try it again.

I ordered the Pho Ga and added beef meatballs - this hit the spot! Authentic, family owned establishment. It was busy on a cold day so keep that in mind there may be a wait. I saw the vermicelli plates were looking delicious and had a good portion so I will be coming back to order that!

I've been wanting to try Tan My for so long cause I always hear about how it's the best Pho in Austin and after finally getting to eat there, I can definitively say that that claim is true. This really hit the spot and satisfied my pho craving after the winter storm. I'm so glad they were open because this meal saved my life. I'm a changed person. The vibe is very classic pho spot and took me back to my favorite pho restaurant at home. The workers were also very sweet and attentive and we got our food super quick. Like really quick. I got their large number 1 pho and the large is a very generous portion. The bowl was as big as my head. But the meat cuts were so soft and chewy and the broth tasted amazing. My pet peeve is when pho noodles are too soggy or soft but these were perfect.

Returned after a year and enjoyed every dish this time. The owner is super nice and friendly. Pho is comforting and great broth with good noodle to meat ratio. Bun Bo hue was so flavorful with pork knuckles and pork blood. Close to traditional. Wish they didnt serve it so much chilli oil floating on top. Pan fried noodle was nice and crispy but a bit overly seasoned for our taste buds but still good.

I absolutely loved the service here! They were so attentive, and the place / bathrooms were also clean. Food: I got the pho that only had the eye round steak #13, it was absolutely delicious and the eggrolls were so perfectly crunchy. Nothing was served cold everything was steaming hot. I 100% recommend this place!

Finding an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Austin can be difficult, but Tan My is just that! I've been going here since college, and their food has never changed which I appreciate. Prepare to wait a bit on the weekends, as they are usually full to the brim especially in the morning. Their pho menu is interesting as each ascending number takes away a type of meat, which allows for more personalization than some places. The no 1 is my go to! The broth is soothing, homey, and filling. The meat is truly packed in there, and the price is still reasonable. The green iced thai tea is super solid and pairs well with the pho. I love it here and will always support them.

Not the best pho in Austin in my opinion. Definitely top 3 which is not bad. The portions are good, I got a small and felt it was a lot. The broken rice came with everything you'd expect it to. If you're in the area, it's a good spot for some viet classics.

I've been getting pho to-go from Tan My for years, but I finally decided to pop in for the full dining experience. I mainly get pho here, and it's always consistently good. Everything well cooked, the broth always flavorful. This is family-owned spot, and it has that family feel to it. The place seems to be always packed during lunchtime, so expect it to be busy, but the service is great here as expected and you can tell they have their fair share of regulars. I'm not sure if it's the best pho in Austin, but it's definitely up there and always pretty consistent! I look forward to trying their other popular Vietnamese options as well in the future, and they have a pretty extensive menu to try out different dishes.

Wonderful hole in the wall food spot. Went in during lunch rush, they sat me immediately, food came out quickly after I ordered. I recommend going in to eat to really experience how their food brings people from all walks of life to eat. The people even have regulars that they chat with. When paying, they remembered what I got and was easy and quick!

Love this place. Their 55b, pho, and 60 is amazing. Great service and even better food. Family owned and operated.

Had a new dish today, chicken over rice with fish sauce. I thought the dish was plentiful in quantity but I wasn't the biggest fan of The taste. It just didn't have anything that jumped out at me and seemed a little bit bland to what I like. I still love this restaurant and think they have great menu offerings. This just is not one of them.

Hands down some of the BEST food I have had my entire life. The staff are incredibly kind, warm, and clearly put so much heart into what they do. I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone. 55B forever!

One of my favorite places! It's a quaint place with great service! The food is amazing whether you get the pho, bun, rice or appetizers. It is a popular place so there may be a line, but it goes quickly. We ordered the Vietnamese spring rolls and pho. Both are so flavorful and come out hot and quickly! When I get my pho craving, I'll make the trip up north.

The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot. While the broth leaned richer than my preference, I still enjoyed the experience and definitely look forward to trying other dishes next time.

Both broths were rich and flavorful. The portions were generous, and they definitely did not skimp on the meat. My Bun Bo Hue came with a beef rib that was tender and delicious. One unique thing was the noodles in the Sip pho bowl--they were slightly thicker than vermicelli, which was different but not a big deal. For drinks, I ordered the Matcha Green Thai Tea. It had an interesting flavor combination, but the matcha taste was a bit overpowered by the green Thai tea. It was still enjoyable, though slightly too floral and sweet for my personal preference. The prices were very reasonable, and they offered a great variety of pho, vermicelli bowls, rice dishes, and appetizers. Next time I visit, I'd love to try the egg rolls since I noticed many people ordering them. The only downside was parking. We came in August 30th, around 8PM, nothing really out of the norm, ordered our food, I had gotten the (Bo Luc Lac) or shaking beef, and my wife got the spicy beef and lemongrass soup with noodles as usual. The Shaking beef was inedible, absolutely horrible, I'm not sure what cut of beef is used but it was almost like chewing on a steel toe boot, or perhaps a car tire. Spat it out within moments and sent it back, and got it removed from the tab with the server apologizing nonstop, which of course isn't her fault. 5 minutes later, my wife stares at the bowl like she just had a heart attack, and I glance over, and of course, a dead ROACH. Somehow was in the food, and it didn't float up to the top until HALFWAY she was finished eating. Absolutely vile, I cannot comprehend how a roach even got in there, was it already in the big pot of soup they use for other people's orders? Was it alive in our bowl and the steaming hot broth was poured on top and killed it? Safe to say, we didn't make a massive scene; alerted the server, she promptly got the bowl from us, and we didn't need to touch the tab for obvious reasons. The only issue is I would've loved to have spoken to a manager because this is a major health hazard, and roaches can carry E. Coli and Salmonella... I tipped our server cash regardless of the outcome of the food since this wasn't her fault and she did well in taking care of us, but we will never be back, and I suggest everyone reading this review to go elsewhere. A Cockroach in a restaurant bowl of food for a guest? Imagine how many other guests ATE their food without ever seeing one, or if it was in the massive pot how many guests ate orders without realizing there was a roach being boiled in their food. STAY. AWAY. Just disgusting.
