Real solid Thai food. Got take out and thought it was all that I could have wanted. Ordered it with all the stars and it was as spicy as it should have been. Pad Thai wasn't so good, chicken satay was alright. Not very flavorful overall, asked for medium spicy and it didn't come with a single chili flake. It's cooked well but seemed to lack that special something that would have me coming back for more. read more

I have eaten in the restaurant as well as ordered delivery from Tangerine. The food is good, flavorful and the portions are generous and the service is great too. When I ordered delivery the food arrived within the time that was quoted. My husband and I usually order Thai from a couple other places in the ballard area and Tangerine by far is the best food, best deal. I will DEFINITELY be back! read more

Love this place! We eat here about every 5-7 days and can't get enough of their tasty food! The owners are friendly and even remember our "usual" order and custom make it just the way I like! I also love that they offer brown rice instead of only the usual white (jasmine) that most Thai places offer. They do now accept credit cards so that's a plus. I would have given Tangerine Thai 5 stars, but the service is SO slow. I've been there many times mainly for their food and location and every time it took a long time to get our food. I went tonight and they were out of Thai iced tea and Thai ice cream, which seems strange for a Thai restaurant. I hope Tangerine Thai stays around, but I hope they fix all their flaws. read more

I used to like this place. It's not traditional tasting Thai but it was still good. Not anymore, now it's just kind of blah. In general the vegetables don't taste fresh...the veggies in the fried rice tasted like vinegar. I called my order in and they said 45min and it used to be approximately 20min. Not normally a big deal but when I arrived the place was empty and the people working seemed slow and generally confused, so why the wait?! They also got part of my order wrong. We've been waiting for SOOOOO long for a good Thai place in our Phinney neighborhood and it's finally here. I would say this is the best Thai in Seattle. Hands down. Every dish is perfect and tasty and just the right amount of spice. We're VERY picky about our Thai food and it's so nice to finally have a place within walking distance that rocks. Everytime we go there it's a bit empty though so I'm hoping people start seeing the great reviews they are getting on yelp because I really want them to make it. Tangerine Thai was Delicious! I'm docking one star because the service was pretty slow and we were one of two groups in the restaurant. Their Phad Thai was perfect. I love it that I can walk to this great little restaurant and know I'm going to have a good meal. I'm looking forward to nice weather, so they can open the garage door in the front and we can enjoy the fresh air. We've eaten in the dining room a few times and had take out once. Everything we've had has been tasty and nicely presented. Service is friendly. They have good beer on tap, but I wish they'd improve their wine selection. read more

This place has good food, and they try hard. But it is really, really slow. They appear to have one person doing all waitressing. It takes a long time just to get water, then to get menus, then to get your order placed. Then when you do get the order placed it takes a long time to get your food. I believe they probably have one guy in the back doing one order at a time. I would like to rate them higher, but the slowness of the service is really tough (especially if you have kids). read more

Yummy, quick delivery & awesome customer service! We ordered delivery from Tangerine Thai for the first time this weekend. After a bit of research, I was pleasantly surprised to find they delivered to Ballard. I ordered the yellow pineapple curry with chicken as well as tofu and chicken Phad Thai. The person who took my order (via phone) was very nice and spoke clearly -- with no confusion, whatsoever. Took about 40 minutes for my order to arrive (just as they said), but after investigating I was disappointed to see they had given me one wrong item. I immediately called and explained what had happened. The female employee on the other end was very nice -- she said they would have the driver bring me the forgotten (switched) item. There was not one ounce of annoyance in her voice, how refreshing! There's nothing worse then when a restaurant makes a mistake and then argues and/or blames the customer for the botched order. Not at Tangerine :) About 15-20 minutes later, the driver arrived with the item and when I asked him if he needed the mistakenly delivered one back, he said we could keep it. It was a yellow curry dish with tofu, which worked out perfectly since my boyfriend is a vegetarian :) The curry dishes and the Phad Thai were both very good. I appreciated that they included a generous portion of raw bean spouts to go with the noodles. Tangerine did not skimp on the serving sizes either -- needless to say, I had lunch for at least a couple days after that. The food was wonderful and the customer service was amazing. We have been ordering from this place a couple times a month because it's convenient and the food is usually pretty good. Every once in awhile we have an off dish. Tonight everything we ordered was bad. Pad see ew was dry and overly sweet, Larb was super salty, fried rice had absolutely no flavor. Pad Thai was bright red and tasted terrible. Nothing like the pictures posted on yelp and like we normally get. Even the jasmine and brown rice were over cooked and mushy. We'll be looking for a new delivery place. read more

Tangerine Thai is the most unbelievable restaurant in the world. It is the only restaurant I know where you can get two meals for the price of one and actually lose calories. The first meal goes down tasty a bit oily, and the second meal comes up covered in your stomach acid! You won't even need to do your morning run to burn the calories because you'll have a great workout vomiting your lungs up for days on end, free of charge! In all seriousness. It is 3:30am right now and I literally just got done vomiting all evening with a fever and shakes because of an undercooked chicken meal I had about 9 hours ago from the sweetly named Tangerine Thai. I've actually had food poisoning from this restaurant in the past, but it was very minimal (and apparently didnt learn my lesson). THIS, however, is the worst experience I've had being sick. I'm still sweating and with the acidic taste of their meal that I just had to taste a second time. And then I had to keep drinking water to be able to throw something up hours after the meal finally found the receptacle it would have the fate of laying to rest in, I urge you not to chance having the same experience as me. Very nice people, though. I feel bad to have to rant and warn people about this.DON'T GO. UPDATE: It is the next afternoon. Collapsed and went unconscious at 7am, the fire department had to come to my house and I had to be monitored while I regained fluids back into my body. And still dealing with it 24 hours later. I went to the restayrant to confront them and they didn't even apologize, they were only concerned that all the customers were leaving the restaurant from what I was saying to them. :/ UPDATE: Day 3... Severe diarrhea. Have to go to hospital because of loss of fluids and nutrients. read more

i have been eating here since Tangerine opened and each year the food is not as good and more expensive .but the Sat night was the finale.. we ordered Pad See Ew with chicken and broccoli ,Pad Param(swimming angel) with fried tofu and fresh rolls we thought filled with what was on the menu... total bill $30..for takeout ..it was 9:30 At the house.. 3 containers.. the pub see ew was noodles stuck together.with little else , the Pad param . $1 worth of ingredients..boiled tofu... the rolls had noodles and cilantro.. . i returned with pad see ew on monday explaining my huge disappointment. they asked why i hadn't come back Sat night.. the waiter questioned me wrote a page took my receipt . i asked for a credit for a decent meal.. that was a week ago.. i never heard from the restaurant .. so i guess either they are going broke and can't give a credit or they would rather have me write a critical review to save $5 because that is all the food is worth..... i started several well known restaurants in this town so i believe i know good food from junk. read more

Pretty sure the negative reviews are people with horrible food palates because Tangerine Thai is absolutely delicious! I could eat here every single day if I could! My faves are the Pad See Ew and the fresh rolls! Everyone there is so friendly and delivery is 20-30 minutes DEPENDING on the day and hour. They deliver a lot of food to man happy customers so I'm always patient! Love this place, haven't been to any other Thai restaurants that I like. read more

My first time at Tangerine I got Pla Koong (shrimp salad) there was not much flavor and small for the price. Next I tried delivery, I was told 40 minutes, after 1 hour I called to see when to expect it. Another 20 minutes later, I got my cold, sub-par not much flavor noodle dish. On my 3rd attempt, I got take out. The meat and veggies were not chopped small at all and there was no spice when I asked for 3 stars! No flavor, not prepped well and bad service! read more

Tangerine is very good for a neighborhood thai place. They have some of the best fresh spring rolls I've had--the sauce that comes with them is THE best (I think these are second best in the city, after Green Leaf). The menu has some less common items, like roast duck. Most of the menu is standard thai, and it's solid (though not exceptional). They deliver. It's a nice space--they roll up the garage door-like window on nice days. read more

This place has great food and great atmosphere. I typically like going here, but had some bad experiences with the service which is often too busy with take out orders to help you if you dine in. As well, the musak is awful and they had their wonderful garage windows closed so that they could turn on AC. read more

We love to support neighborhood restaurants, so we thought we'd deviate from our usual spots and try Tangerine. My husband ordered 3 dishes for take out and they might as well have all been combined. All should have been very different tastes, but were the same ... brown sauce on all. And, we requested no stars for our kids, but the dishes were about 3 stars so they couldn't eat it. Horrible experience there tonight. Arrived at 630pm with our toddler and me 7 months pregnant. Waited 45 minutes after ordering and the food still hadn't arrived. The waiter could have told us that there were a few huge takeout orders ahead of us, but we had to figure that out for ourselves. Ended up leaving cash on the table for my husbands beer and walking out with our hungry son. Too bad the service was so poor, we went there a few weeks ago and the food is really good. The last time i came here, i was pretty annoyed at the fact that they only accepted cash and check only. But now they also accept credit cards. Super convenient! They now accept credit cards, which is nice. We often times do take out, but the ambience it really nice in the restaurant as well. Bad news. Food is fine. Service is TERRIBLE. We ate in restaurant once and had an ok experience, but we encountered our first bad experience a little while ago when delivery took well over an hour.... we live 10 blocks away. We decided to give it one more shot since the food wasn't horrible and we ordered take out. The staff gave our food away to another person and subsequently blamed it on the customer who took the food rather than owning up to the fact that they gave it away. We then had to sit for another half hour waiting for our order. They didn't offer to comp our food and the order we walked out with wasn't complete!! Are you kidding me? We will not be going back here and I recommend you don't either. With so many good thai restaurants in Seattle, this isn't worth it. read more
