Very nice date spot with great outdoor seating that has a view of the water with boats going by. Got the miso soup and truffle yellowtail roll which were both good. Service was fine. Prices are elevated, but you're paying for a lovely location. Interior is nice too. The couple of menu items I tried were not out of this world, but willing to come back and try more.

My family wanted to take me out for Mother's Day and they know I enjoy a restaurant with a great view. They were able to snag a reservation and we celebrated Mother's Day for brunch. As we walked in there was a line outside, which was a good sign means that people wanted to eat here. I'm glad I didn't get a reservation. We were seated out by the water. What a great view of the Miami river. The water helps keep the area outside cool along with the fans. The food was brought out as ready. All of the seafood was fresh. They have a daily specials menu where we got tuna and salmon hand rolls. We really enjoyed our time and I would think about coming back.

Many Many years ago, I have been to their previous location in Miami Beach for an event and ever since wanted to go back. So fast forward to October 28th 2025 I found myself in the area of their new location at the River Landing Mall along the Miami River for some legal things that had to take the day off to deal with. To reward myself, was able to have lunch that day so had excitedly pounced on Tanuki here and it blew me away! With not much effort driving into this big building complex of shoppes and condos, driving up the ramp a few levels to find parking, then taking elevator down to the first floor, you come to Tanuki on the river that has a relaxing covered outdoor seating area or when going inside one is whisked away into an amazing well decorated Asian themd space! Being the only one there, I opted for the bar area and glad I did as it had good views in every direction as well as through the windows to the outdoor area. It is here I had the pleasure of Gerrick the excellent bartender taking care of everything and answering questions and making suggestions. For drinks I had wanted a mocktail so the menu intrigued me with a Blackberry Yuzu Nojito, he made suggestions about how sweet I wanted it which was very nice for a bar to so! I got it not too sweet and was perfectly balanced being a great tasting drink reminiscent of a Mojito but with blackberry taste yet lighter on sugar content. Very very nice. Onto the food! Hungry! The restaurant is modern Asian fusion which their menu offers Japanese, Chineese and pan-Asian dishes to choose from. I had a hard time deciding! OK, two items caught my eye and had to order them both: Truffled Yellowtail Sushi roll and the Duck Dim Sum. OMG both were beautiful and amazing The Truffled Yellowtail was well plated on that dish and their truffle sauce lightly poured ontop. I love truffled anything and this took this sushi to a whole other level! So had enjoyed it so much. This vibrant orange wrapped Duck Dim Sum sits in its steaming basket, what a delight to see. Placing one in your mouth you are treated to a soft blanket sensation wrapping your tongue while chewing and the flavors are oh so Devine. I enjoyed the range of duck and other flavors going on and had to savor each piece by alternating this with the Yellow tail sushi and cleansing my palate with drinking the Blackberry Yuzu Nojito! It was so much fun taking it all in while eating looking around, interecrimg with the bartender. Dessert: Ok originally did not plan on dessert (was already full) but Gerrick talked me into getting the Lemongrass Creme Brule with three mixed berries. Again the presentation was very nice and when trying it the texture as I recall is like other creme brulees have had before but the flavor was subtly different. Not amazingly different, just subtle with a hint of Lemongrass. Would I order it again? Maybe not but then again next time try something else that might wow me. This was for sure a phenominal lunch spot hands down. Oh and I learned from Gerrick that on the weekends they have Live music from2pm until 4pm(?) And then later in the evening again have more live music. I definitely want to go back for that! Lastly, The River Landing Mall provides 2 hour free parking but I had too much fun and went over that so had to pay about $5 or so, which honestly is not bad. This would be a Mall to be tempted to stay and discover or shop or walk off the Caroline's consumed :). Oh and leaving the mall could be a pain if wanting to turn left to catch the road back to the highway ESPECIALLY if traffic backed up due to whatever reason (drawbridge up perhaps?). I had to navigate that mess. But wont let this deter me from coming back Solid restaurant Tanuki is.

I wanted a quick bite for lunch and stopped in here to have a roll and a drink. I sat at the bar and the bartender was wonderful. My roll was delicious! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the bar faces the river and the outdoor patio. It was a weekday and pretty quiet so I got to talk to the staff, all very nice. Definitely will be back.

Wonderful dining experience and Tanuki! The staff provided fantastic hospitality, delicious drinks, while entertaining palettes and vibes with a fire show and DJ spinning lovely Brazilian-Afro Beats facing Miami River with yachts passing by. Had a really good experience at Tanuki. We ordered the Black Dragon roll, Truffle Yellowtail roll, Mongolian beef, and Pad See Ew. Both sushi rolls were really good and the fish tasted fresh. The Truffle Yellowtail was especially flavorful. The Pad See Ew and Mongolian beef were also very flavorful and tasted authentic. The only downside was the rice that came with the Mongolian beef, was a bit dry. The location is really nice with a waterfront view, which makes the atmosphere great. Overall a great spot for both sushi and hot dishes, would definitely come back to try the other dishes.

The ambiance is a 10/10 with river front views and great outdoor seating, however, the food was disappointing. Unimpressed with my happy hour cocktail (happy hour until 7pm on Friday), for $9 still pricey! We decided to skip the Miami Spice menu because it didn't have anything interesting. Crab rangoon contained absolutely no crab, was just cream cheese. Super expensive for fried cream cheese. I had such high hopes for the mango salmon. As you can see in the pics, not much mango other than a few unripe squares and not incorporated into the flavor, but just a garnish. Beautifully presented. Worst insult of the night, when I started to eat it, it was not only barely warm, but completely uncooked on the inside. Essentially, I was served raw salmon. Zero flavor and very watery and soggy. I pointed it out to our server and asked for it to be cooked more and well done. Received no apology from manager, nothing comped or offered for the completely undercooked (raw) salmon I received. When it came back out, my mango and most of the asparagus was missing, so I got less back on my plate than what I sent back to the kitchen. Absolutely terrible way to treat your customers. Cheesecake was another underwhelming and expensive item we ordered for dessert. Courteous service. Overall, this was highly disappointing and the food didn't match the good reviews.

Absolutely love coming here for happy hour 4-7pm everyday, even the weekends for food and drinks. Been going here for 2 years and so far everything we've eaten and ordered has been great. I love their sticky ribs, sushi rolls, and spicy edamame. I don't drink alcohol but my friends love their drinks when we dine here. The severs are also super great, Luis is the best one there! We go here for date night and even to celebrate my birthday with 20 guests. They are very accommodating and friendly here.

Located 8 minutes from Miami university hospital . In an outdoor shopping mall . Very nice view of the intercostal. Ambiance had very cool Asian look with lots of visual esthetics to take in. The sushi roll was very tasty . The sashimi/ nigiri was a bit expensive for the place but the turo quality was spot on. Melted in our mouths. The miso soup was really Exceptional as well , lots of flavor and I was quite impressed. The fried rice was borderline bad in terms of contents and taste but can't win them all. Lastly the Asian martini was also quite good and refreshing .

Was looking for outdoor/waterfront dining that wasn't over priced and over hyped and landed on Tanuki serving Asian fusion. Reasonably priced sushi and entrees in my opinion and we ended up getting the Black Dragon Roll as an "appetizer" and it was super good! We paired the sushi with a mojito to drink and it was super refreshing and light, however, I'm not sure if there was enough alcohol in it because by the 2-3rd sip it definitely was a little watered down but it wasn't horrible. Maybe ask for less ice? Entrees came and they were good as well. I ordered the Mongolian beef and I loved the sweetness to it. My mom ordered the pepper steak and she asked for it extra spicy but it was more so salty than spicy. Nonetheless, food and vibes were nice. The outdoor area is covered and there are fans which helped alleviate the heat. Our server Oscar was super friendly and helpful, so I'd definitely come back when I'm in Miami.

This place exceeded my expectations. The food was great, the drinks even better and there was entertainment to go along with the entire experience. I sat at the bar and was later accomodated to a table outside due to a cancellation which I really appreciated. The manager came around everyone's table to make sure everyone's needs were met and even happily sang Happy Birthday for someone. I think my favorite part was how great the song choices were back to back. It was a delightful experience overall. read more

I am a big fan of Tanuki in Miami Beach so I checked out this new location and I can honestly say I am impressed. The food was super fresh delicious, and the view of the river was cherry on top. The staff here are super nice and friendly, eager to help I can recommend them enough. I definitely will be back. when I was there, they do not have a full bar yet only serving beer wine & sake . they were waiting for their food liquor license hopefully they have it now so everyone can enjoy more variety on the drink, but overall I was very happy with my experience at Tanuki. read more

The restaurant is in the River landing mall. It is a lovely location on the River and it is designed tastefully but it was out of place for this mall and perhaps a bit too early for this area. Understand this area is being developed literally as the restaurants next door are still under construction but the price points for this restaurant do not match as it's located in a discount mall. We had the crusted tuna salad, shrimp har gow/dimsum, salmon avocado (we wanted the salmon roll that had snow crab but they didn't have snow crab and the chef apparently was unwavering to replace it with anything), chicken siu mai, one of the business lunches with mango salmon and yellowtail tiradito. We paired this Yeti Sake recommended by Raymond, general manager who was very sweet. I deducted stars due to our server as we sensed a bit of attitude altho 20% gratuity was auto added (has become the norm) and perhaps we were hoping to recreate the experience we had at Tanuki on Miami Beach. There is definite potential as they are looking to change the menu to match to the location and would definitely go back when they do, but currently for 3 of us, our bill was $210 only for 3 people is outrageous for lunch but aware we ordered an array of dishes. read more

Lychee martini are my favorite from here. Happy hour 3-6pm. I love the wagyu tacos and short rib fried rice super yummy. The location has the perfect setting and the bay view. The service was a bit slow but over all I will definitely come back !! read more

Well, I'm not sure how they got over 1,000 5 star reviews because I can honestly say it was the worst food experience I have suffered through in years. The fish did not taste fresh and was drowned in a citrus flavored sauce that left a distinctly bad taste in the mouth. Even the roasted Brussels sprouts were covered in an overwhelming citrus flavor. After watching them torch our crab roll table side I was hopeful but alas. I bit into a a mouthful of what tasted like warm mayonnaise with what I believe was imitation crab. Immediately sent it back and asked to speak to a manager. 20 minutes later, no manager and no bill. Waitress acted as if we might want to try more than the 5 dishes we ordered!! I could go on but it is obvious the manager and owners do not care. One star duty to the view only. read more

We ended up going for 4th of July. Manager and server greeted us and everyone was friendly. The food was great. We ordered a bit of everything. Manager and waiter worked together so we never needing anything. Really cool place with nice decor. Bathrooms are even cooler. It was right off the highway so it was easy to get to. During my visit to Miami, my friend and I made plans to dine here but when we showed up at 9pm, the hostess said they were closing. We were quite disappointed because their business hours online said 11pm. When my friend pointed that out, the hostess said that because they were slow, they just decided to close early. I'm not sure how often that happens but I'd suggest you call before heading there. read more

The best sushi we have had quite possibly in the STATE. The service was so sweet - we brought our 2 daughters and they were so nice. Order the Pad Say Ew it was out of this world good. The fresh wasabi was an amazing touch. The fire dancer entranced our 3 year old. The live DJ was the best music. The rain shower hand washing station was super cool. We loved this place - 10/10! read more

I want to say I love this restaurant, however tonight we went to celebrate my friends birthday. The service super slow! We waited for drinks twice as much as we waited for food. The food was excellent but, our server made us pay before we even received out dessert. Then we wanted to split the payment and he tapped everything on one card. Told us another server would be watching over us and that server never came by. they picked up everything from the table. Never even served us water until the guy that ran our dessert we asked him for water. Honestly, I come from hospitality and this was not a good customer service. read more

Would like to add some additional comments to my original review. We went back during happy hour and stuck to featured hors doeuvres and drinks. Much better experience! We had crispy chicken bites, and shrimp and avocado roll and they were delish. As long as you lower your expectations a bit, the location is terrific so I recommend. read more

I have been to Tanuki twice and let me tell you the food here is impeccable. From the Shrimp tempura to the JB Maki roll and Spicy Salmon Roll. The service is always great and super fast. I also like the view of the river and how they have the restaurant setup. Definitely believe everyone should try their happy hour I highly recommend it. read more

Been to this restaurant twice now and the experience has always been amazing sat at the bar both times, once for happy hour and the other time for dinner with a friend, and it was splendid. Service from all the bartenders was always on point and their recommendations never cease to amaze me. The food was amazing and so was the vibes of the restaurant with a live dj and entertainment. My friends and I went for girls night and had the best time ever! Everything from the food to the service was impeccable. We started with the crispy Brussels sprouts which I forgot to get a picture of, because they were so good! Everything that was recommended was absolutely delicious and very unique. We sat outdoors which had a nice cozy vibe with the view of the river, but the inside is elegant and equally as gorgeous. The whole staff made me feel welcomed and truly cared for, as they explained each dish carefully and were very accommodating to our needs. The ambiance is very nice; you notch decor. If you're sitting outside, you have a nice view of the river. We came for lunch. It was not crowded. We were seated right away. The staff was attentive and overall good. The food came out quickly. We ordered duck bao buns, pork bao buns, and two different sushi rolls. We also got 2 sodas. The food was good. The duck bao buns could use a sauce. The buns were perfect. The menu did not have the price of the sodas. The bottles are small and are $5. The sushi was good. The Yellowtail roll was something unlike any other roll I've tired. The sushi menu is very limited. The rolls are very small. It was a party of 2, but they automatically included 20% gratuity. The total for the small amount of food, sodas, and gratuity was $99. That is absolutely ridiculous. I enjoyed the place, but it's not worth it. read more

Third time at this new restaurant and each time super happy. The food is so high end delicious it's just wonderful, but I like how they have both very expensive items and many affordable as well. I've ordered and tried different things now and all of it superb. Our waiter tonight was Maynor and he was helpful and professional. I had a really good time at Tanuki River Landing. The place looks amazing, both inside and outside. It's super cozy and welcoming. The staff there are super nice. Our server, Maria C, was awesome. She kept checking on us to make sure we were happy, which was great. The food was delicious. We had trio fried rice, trio lo mein, and Mongolian beef. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Their drinks were great too. I tried the Riverview Mule and it was really tasty. The dessert was amazing. It was the perfect end to our meal. I'm definitely going back to Tanuki River Landing.
