Hands down the best (and maybe only in the area?) place to get authentic Taiwanese breakfast food! Intimidated by all the Chinese words on the menu? As an American born Taiwanese "disappointment", so am I LOL.. but, there is a solution to follow! Rice rolls - exactly what it sounds like - picture a trendy "sushi burrito" but made with Taiwanese staple ingredients like their sweet sausage or pork floss (basically finely shredded pork-like jerky), or if you aren't in the mood - heck, you can get it with bacon or even tuna inside. (Yes I've tried them all, and they are quite glorious for breakfast!) The standard rice is a type of sticky rice if I'm not mistaken, and I've even seen others order a purple rice - which I have not tried. Not in a mood for rice? It's all good - they even have a noodle soup or a soy-milk (savory) type soup with some ground meat in it. Both are amazing and I swear if you don't get one of their savory slightly greasy donut sticks, you're missing out. It's definitely not your typical Chinese fare type food - it's on the lighter side flavor-wise (but still filling) and makes for a great breakfast. They open early but also close fairly early (except on saturdays) being that it's basically breakfast food, so make sure you check the times. Now on to my "hack" - order it on Uber eats and avoid the awkward "trying hard to read the asian menu even though you can't" moment if you're like me and enjoy your meal. =)

A small establishment with a variety of authentic and tasty Taiwanese breakfast foods. There are about 10 tables and it's always very busy on weekends. There's a range of noodles, egg crepes, rice rolls, and other items. You can grab an English menu to customize your order and they call it out by number. Prices are ranged from $5-8 per item and it's easy to order a lot because everything sounds interesting. The menu is simple and translated so it's best to do a bit of research before ordering because the line is quick and most people already know what they want.

This is an amazing Taiwanese breakfast spot! It's hard to find places that serve breakfast so this is definitely a good find. The noodle soup is delicious and well priced. It was homey and comforting. The egg pancake is great too and you can customize the items inside. It's a bit different than what I've had in Taiwan but still good nonetheless. Overall a great place!!

Recently moved to DFW area and we have already been here twice! The Tao and Taiwan rice rolls are both so good and affordable. They're loaded with the good stuff and it's not just all rice. we also tried the egg pancake wrap and it was good but the rice rolls are our favorite.

Finally get to try Tao rice roll. The rice rolls were good but smaller than I expected, you need to eat 2 to feel full. They were also out of water and all drinks when we were there on a Saturday, which I thought was strange considering how drying it is to eat rice roll, and 90 degree out.

Tao in Chinese is rice with the shell on the straw. It is rice before processing. This restaurant match the name of the restaurant. Their specialty is the Taiwanese rice roll. There are many type rice roll they sell. Their menu mainly is Chinese, but I was able to download an English menu. We got three rice roll. We got an eel, Taiwanese salty egg and sausage and one Tao rice roll. Those are delicious choices. I like their rice preparation with right oil and spice. The choice of infill also delicious. We also got a salty soy milk. The soy milk come with fried dough. We also got a specialty herb soup. This soup has blackened chicken, herb, and more. Great to have. If you know how to eat chicken in bone, I recommend this soup. Overall is not much of service, other than order from counter, you just have to wait for the food. But you won't disappointed. Another plus side is affordable.

A great spot for Taiwanese breakfast classics. The food is delicious here, but the service is pretty inefficient, and they run out of things a lot. They have a lot of rice rolls with various filings and purple rice. What's really great is that they have soy milk, herbal soups that are really healthy, and other small dishes. The interior is very small and gets crowded on Saturdays. I would highly, highly recommend calling ahead or ordering online. During busy times, it'll take 45 minutes to get your food. Just plan to wait that long even if you order ahead. Last time I ordered online, I still had to wait 30 minutes in store, and they gave me white rice instead of people rice, which costs extra.

Their menu didn't have much English but they have it posted on their wall what each fan tuan has. I'd say the fan tuan is mid. It was a lot smaller than I thought and the flavors could be more intense. You can sit in and dine. Overall, I just felt like something was lacking.

This is one of my favorite spots for comfort Taiwanese breakfast! I love all the options available here, and everything is made fresh to order. The prices might be a little expensive for a rice roll, but I love that you can find something you like. I always take my friends here for breakfast when they visit, and all of them enjoy the food even if it's their first time. My favorite roll is the Taiwan roll because I love the sausage, salted egg, and pork floss! It reminds me of Vietnamese xoi, except in a roll form. My challenge is wanting to order a bit of everything to try, but not everyone has the same taste. My boyfriend likes the sesame with youtiao and soup dumplings. The dumplings aren't the best you get in Dallas, but for $7, it's a solid deal. I also like their freshly made egg crepe with lettuce, and you can't go wrong with regular youtiao and hot soy milk. One thing to be aware of is since the food is always made fresh, the wait time can be longer than you'd like. Some days we'll wait 20-30 mins for our food, and some days it'll be 5-10 mins. I think they do take phone orders so I'd recommend calling them ahead of time.

Wow what a THICK rice roll. Super flavorful, perfectly cooked rice, packed with filling. Definitely on the pricy end for a rice roll, but well worth it, in my opinion. It's practically a burrito. Staff is friendly and patient despite always having customers. Wait time can get long during busy times, but it was about 15 minutes for me. There is some seating here, but only a few tables. Most people use the seats to wait for their order. After enjoying their rice roll, I'll definitely need to go back and try the other Taiwanese classics!

This place is absolutely made for a group outing, and we're already planning to come back with a group to take full advantage. The food was a delight. The Singapore noodles had this wonderful curry flavor that I absolutely loved, and the combo fried rice was just as satisfying. We also ordered the Peking duck (P1 on the menu). It was good, though not quite as flavorful on its own as we'd hoped. That said, once you load it up with the hoisin, cucumber, and spring onions, it all comes together beautifully. The bao buns that came with it were soft and delicious, honestly a highlight. We also sipped on hot jasmine tea throughout, which was the perfect, refreshing complement to the whole meal. If you live in the area, it's a quality spot to get your soup dumpling fix. My Overall Rating - 3 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, the first thing I noticed was Chef Sun's was very busy (great sign). The restaurant itself wasn't very memorable, and the table we sat at was next to a drink fridge and lots of traffic. 1/2 Star. Service - The staff at Chef Sun's was great, especially for a busy Chinese restaurant. The staff proactively kept our glasses full of water and were always on hand to help. Once we placed our order, food just kept coming from the staff as each dish was brought out piping hot and fresh. 1 Star. Food - The Xa Long Bao (soup dumplings) were nice and plump, freshly cooked and super-hot. This was the best part of the meal. The traditional Chinese dishes like their noodles were all a bit oily for my taste. Thee two appetizers - fried shrimp (very safe choice) were crispy without being greasy and the red dipping sauce was more sweet than spicy. And the spicy edamame was good. Overall plenty of good, but nothing super memorable. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Only if I'm in the area and I want soup dumplings. Chef Sun's Noodle & Dumpling has some oily noodles and great dumplings. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit here, but now that I know they exist, I'll stop by next time I want soup dumplings. 1/2 Star.
