I stopped by while in BR for a few hours. Being an Indian food fanatic, I was so excited to try this place as they just opened and it looked really cute from photos online. I walked in around 5pm, the very beginning of the dinner rush and was met by a very unenthusiastic host who told me every single table was reserved so I could sit at the bar or outside under the covered patio. I chose the bar. My server came over and was also pretty unenthusiastic (a trend at this point), but that's okay, I came for the food! (No drink because I had to drive back to NOLA right after). The server took my order and that was literally the last time he spoke to me. The food came pretty fast but I didn't have any silver wear (as the server was making friendly chat with his coworkers and another bar patron). The other bartender noticed me and gave me silver wear (yay). Now we can enjoy what we came for, the food. Then I was hit with more disappointment. The food was so bland and not what I expected from a place that billed itself to be "Indian Street food". There was very little spice or flavor in any of the dishes I ordered. I was so disappointed. Maybe the beer is better, I wish I could have enjoyed it, but now we'll never know. I had such a bad first impression that I won't be back. Hopefully they can improve their service and food quality in the short term because the interior is so stinking pretty. Also, I was in there for a total of 30 minutes and none of the reserved tables (or other bar seats) came for their reservation. I guess I could have had a table after all. read more

I came here with my mom and brother for dinner on a Friday evening! Tap 65 is located in a complex with other stores and restaurants, so finding parking was tricky and we ended up having to park at the print shop next door. When we walked up the patio was pretty crowded, but we walked inside, and it was probably only about half full or so! The vibe was interesting and hip, with a mix of Indian elements and neon. We were seated immediately, and our server came over promptly with some water. It was a little hard to hear her because it was so loud inside, but she explained the whole concept, where you have a card and then take that card to the tap wall, where you hold the card against the sensor and dispense as much or as little beer as you want from the taps. You're charged based on the amount you pour. I got a card for the wall, and all three of us ordered chicken sandwiches. While we waited, I got to work trying all the beers. I made a little mistake at first and poured myself a big glass of one beer, which I then had to force myself to drink so I could morally justify going up to try more. They had flight glasses available too, so that's what I used after finishing my big glass to avoid making my first mistake of pouring too much again. I'm a little bit basic when it comes to my alcohol taste, so I tried mostly fruity and sweet stuff. I tried a strawberry milkshake IPA (cleverly named "Hop Tarts"), Mango Cart, Hard Sweet Tea from Abita, a pink guava gose (which I regretted immediately, not a fan of goses lol), and then something with "fruit medley" in the name and something else that was blood orange. And I think I also tried something grapefruit. I tried a lot, and they kind of blended together at times haha. Definitely was a bigger fan of some more than others. I really enjoyed the strawberry milkshake IPA! It tasted a lot like a milkshake lol. (Like I said, I like my sweet and fruit stuff!) In the midst of me trying beer (I think as I was finishing my first big glass), our food came out! The fries had a thick layer of red seasoning (peri-peri), and my mom found them to be a tad too spicy, but I liked them and so did my brother! The sandwich was great too. I'm not too versed in Indian food, but it had a nice tangy sauce on it, and the chicken itself had a tasty breading. Personally, I think it was a tad small of a sandwich, but my fat @s$ needs to watch what I eat anyways, so I shouldn't be too upset haha. Overall, I would definitely recommend Tap 65! The vibes were on point (even the bathroom walls had some gorgeous art on them), and there was a good mix of 20 and 30 somethings milling about hanging out and other people of all varieties sitting at tables and the bar eating and drinking. read more

My girls and I came by for the happy hour and our experience was highly enjoyable. We will be coming back. Our waiter, was attentive, the self-serve beer tap system was convenient and fun, and the food was delectable, the cocktail samosas &chipotle chicken naan roll especially. Ok Tap 65, I'm not mad..... I'm just disappointed. The best part of this place is the beer selection, the bar, and the atmosphere. Although I'm told their cocktails aren't great I haven't ordered any myself. When we arrived for the first time, we apparently came through the back door by the bar. Which will leave you confused because you don't know where to go or who seats you. The place was crowded and no one really paid attention to us. So we walked to the other end and found the front door. After standing at the host stand and being told they just had 2 bar seats our outdoor patio, we chose the bar because it was cold outside. Once we arrived someone had taken one of the seats so we had to go outside. Thankfully the host brought a heat lamp to us, awesome! Then we waited about 15 minutes for someone to come greet us and bring us water. We went ahead and ordered since we knew they were crowded, the butter chicken and the charcuterie board (I can't remember what they call their board but you get the idea.) The butter chicken was fine, it wasn't any better than the frozen Indian meals we get. But those are awesome, so, it wasn't terrible just ok. It didn't have that super fresh taste most Indian restaurants have. Then the board fell very flat. Unless you are vegetarian and just love vegetarian options anywhere you can go, the food was pretty boring. Very soft, overly complicated lacking much flavor. It felt like a super hip place in Los Angeles that people go to for the location or the hype but nothing special about the food, besides over elaborate items. I LOVE INDIAN food and I LOVE beer so I should have loved this place. But the food was just boring and lackluster. Super let down. I heard bad reviews from others but since i love Indian food i thought I would have a different opinion. Good hangout spot with friends to get beer flights, but I would choose mid city beer garden first. read more

What a new, unique concept in the Red Stick! With all of the negative in the news lately, this is definitely a positive beacon. If you love Indian food, if you love beer, if you love brunch, this is definitely somewhere you should try. The atmosphere is very funky/eclectic/modern/Instagrammable. As for me, I'm all about the food, and it exceeded my expectations. We went for brunch. My teenager got the shrimp and grits and I got the Ranchera Breakfast. My meal was not really so much Indian-inspired as it was maybe a Mexican-African fusion dish with the peri peri potatoes. What it was, however, was amazingly flavorful. The peri peri spice on the potatoes was spicy and somewhat sweet. I loved how the flavors of the dish contrasted as did it have a great texture. I did get a bite of the shrimp and grits which had Indian spices in the sauce. It was also very good and unique. I'm not really a beer drinker, but based on the varieties that I saw on tap, I think any beer drinker would be in heaven. Finally, leave your cash at home as this place takes plastic only. We went when they first opened, so the staff was still getting the hang of things. The server and the kitchen staff didn't know what was gluten free. They got our dishes swapped, so when they went brought our the corrected dishes, the owner came by and insisted on making sure whether it was gluten free or not, which we greatly appreciated. Hopefully, the staff is better informed about gluten now. The owner was very kind and introduced us to her husband and apologized profusely. The vibe is fabulous here, the servers were very pleasant besides their mistakes, and the food was excellent. We'll definitley get it another try! read more

Came here for Saturday Brunch for the first time. I love the environment. The decor is very sleek and clean with lots of natural light. It feels very classy inside. They have a really good variety of taps. For brunch, I made a flight with 4 different Oktoberfest and marzen beers. All of them were very good. Also had a mint sour which was absolutely delicious! The potatoes on my brunch dish had really good flavor and the perfect amount of crunch, but the butter chicken masala sauce was not as flavorful as you normally find at other Indian restaurants. The bartender during brunch was really friendly and informative to talk to. He was also very attentive and kept our water glasses full. We also came back again that same night to watch the game and I ordered the Indian street food board. Went to Tap 65 as a party of 4 during BR's Restaurant Week specifically because we live in the neighborhood and hadn't yet visited the restaurant. The menu was definitely East Asian-based and we were excited to try all items on their specific Restaurant Week menu. Overall, the best part of the meal were the appetizers, but bear in mind that one was simply tater tots with some region-specific spices on them. The main courses (a cauliflower dish, basic chicken tikka masala, and a salmon dish) were poor. The masala sauce was EXTREMELY salty and the salmon was very overdone and tough. For desserts, they only had 1 of the 3 advertised and that was the cheesecake. Our server told us earlier they had run out but were making more and that should have been our clue not to try the cheesecake. It wasn't cheesecake by any of our tastes and was extremely gelatinous with bland flavor and the crust was simply a take on their soft, sugary cake balls. Finally, the service was very slow and inattentive. We were at the restaurant for over 2 hours and it took at least 15-20 minutes between courses even though we had given our server the entire order out the gate. We had to summon him to simply refill water glasses and he could have minimized the slow kitchen's negative impact by spending more time checking in on us. Overall, our experience at Tap 65 for Restaurant Week did exactly the opposite of the logical goal in that we won't ever be back. It's a shame, because we enjoy seeing neighborhood business thrive, but that was a huge miss last night on their part and a total waste of $190. read more

This place is one of my favorites in BR right now. Just an absolutely wonderful establishment. First the food. I've never had Indian food before so this was my first time. We had the Indian Street Food Board so I could try several things. Absolutely everything on there was delicious (and vegetarian which was a plus). I love the spice and the cilantro and swirl of flavors I got with each bite. If I had to choose a favorite it would be between the Pani-Puri and the Vada Pav. When my server brought the board over she explained what each item was. The service was a huge highlight. Also had the Staycation cocktail and the Dressed to Empress cocktail. Very delicious, refreshing, and not super sweet. Watched the LSU game while there. Screens at every angle of seating and it wasn't over crowded. The lights and colors were very beautiful to look at and a random highlight for me was that the utensils were gold!! Literally can't tell you how overjoyed I was to see that! This was an interesting spot that could do a few things different to become a better experience overall. The taproom with the card is a great idea, the beer should be a bit colder tho. Some of the food like the chicken sandwich and fries were quite delicious, but some of the other stuff like the Tikka masala missed the mark with an overpowering tomato taste. Seems like a chill spot to hang out if you live nearby, but I don't know that it's good enough to go out of your way for. read more

I finally tried Tap65 last night and I was not disappointed! First of all, their atmosphere is super cute and picturesque. It was so clean and the bathrooms were also fun and clean as well. They had a pretty wide variety of taps on the wall which I didn't try this time but I will definitely the next. I just ordered the Desi Papas Rellenas with spiced lamb to spilt and it was delicious! I will say though that I wish their naan was garlicy and had more of a taste like other Indian places I've had. Nonetheless, it was a delicious side to order with the curry that came in the dish. I ordered The Cure cocktail and I'm not huge on gin but it was so good that I ended up ordering a couple more. I tried the Chutney Life cocktail with mango-chutney-infused bourbon and it was way better than I expected. I don't even like bourbon but it was a pretty good drink. Their drinks are also super cute as well! Our server was friendly and gave great recommendations. I will definitely be back here soon! read more
