Cheap place to pick up those little plastic nick nacks or even display cases. Loved Eugene F's review and I had to try this place out. I just started a business selling and consulting for Arbonne, a vegan based beauty and wellness company and some of my products are not available in samples. Well.... Wallah! small plastic containers that are air tight, so I can give samples to people easily, without having it spill. WE for some reason or another will need plastic, cut, formed, and fabricated to our custom specs. Or need some chemicals and materials that help build our projects and concoctions. But if you walk in with ideas that haven't been well thought out and want to get there with a little help behind a counter. They will let you know, even if they lose out on your purchase, what will work. Each employee has got their own hidden talents, and I believe if you approach individuals as they are, unique. You will get some good advice or a bit of professional expertise. Not much more to say, but I enjoy going to pick up or order materials there. Always had a good experience or even a memorable one........ ......One day I had pulled up to a parking spot in the back, and had accidentally tapped their big white recyclable bin. All of a sudden A guy (aka. Oscar the bum) pops out and says, "AWWW MAN, you scared me." ........."I need to lay low for awhile, you can never be to careful these days."...........Then goes back inside. You may not receive such entertainment, but you should receive a welcoming staff with reasonable prices. If not.................sorry for your bad luck. This is one of my best piece purchases ever. I ordered a set of cut to size plexiglass sheets and it was awesome. I thought it would take over 1-2 wood weeks to arrive but they got it to UPS in ONE DAY! UPS took 3 days to deliver it which is really nice too. When I got it, it was expertly packaged and the sheets were definetly protected. Taking the cover off it off, i saw really high quality plastic and the edjes were really smooth to. This is place is nightmare to get ahold of period. If you'd like to call 3 separate days in a week and getting no response this is up your ally. On monday I was told to wait a hour around town until completion (took me 45 min to get there) and I never received a call. So I drove home empty handed and haven't got a call on my paid piece of plastic. I'd recommend going to any store besides this one, they actually give accurate lead times and pick up dates. Great staff! I came here to get a piece of scrap plastic ($1) as an art supply. To my surprise there was a wide variety of sizes and shapes (all rectangular, but with different dimensions). Also, the scraps were all from different kinds of plastic, so depending on what you need you can pick and choose! TAP has different plastic products, ranging from plastic bottles, syringes, pumps, and various containers. What surprised me the most was that they gave me a 'student discount' and I got the scrap plastic free! I'd definitely go back. read more

We all dislike getting ripped off. I always assumed Tap was the competitive and resonable in their pricing. But after paying $349 for 2 pieces of 1'x 5' 3/8's thick frosted acrylic I decided to compare pricing. Professional Plastics was less than half the price for the exact same thing. The guy at the counter was really nice and helpful, but the woman, NOT SO MUCH. I don't think she likes her job or people. read more

I went to tap plastics on a Saturday morning and expected it to be very busy and to take a while to find what I was looking for. They have changed the setup inside, so you can no longer walk around and browse. When you walk in, there is now a desk where a representative greets you. I was quickly greeted by a personable sales rep named Heidy, who was very patient with me despite my lack of preparation. I had an idea of what I wanted but wasn't 100% sure, Heidy walked me through the options and helped me decide what material would be best for my project. Their turnaround time is longer than normal (~4 weeks for custom cuts) due to COVID, but they were sure I knew that up front. Nathan was also very helpful, and patient with me and made sure I left with everything I needed for my project. He even loaded the large acrylic sheets into my car! I could not recommend Tap plastics more, I am beyond pleased with their customer service and will return for all projects in the future. read more

Came here a couple of times, both for school relating necessities, and the manager (Daniel I believe was his name, I apologize if it's the wrong name I'm giving) was SUPER helpful in the last project I had. I needed some plastic sheets to hold together the project I was making, he helped me with suggestions and measured out the correct amount I needed. Stopped in today June 24th for only my second time in a Tap Plastics store in my life. Both times have been at the location here on The Alameda. My experience both times was exactly the same. Surprising. Well staffed, helpful, quick, knowledgeable, friendly, competent, priced very fairly. Seriously....if only every other " service " business would model themselves after this store....the world would be a happier place. I usually go to the Mountain View location, but was near the San Jose location so went there to order a piece of cut-to-size acrylic. Jeff was super friendly, both on the phone and in person. He was also very fast - the piece was ready in 5 minutes! It looked great and was very reasonably priced. The San Jose location is much bigger and brighter than the Mountain View store. Best and friendliest customer service ever !! Had never been here before. Brought in some plastic panels that I had bought at another place. I had been struggling to cut them with a blade. Within 10 minutes I was out the door with my perfectly cut panels. When I proceeded to go to pay, the man said "no charge". Wish I had gotten his name. He was so nice.
