The live music is what lured my husband and I. Since its an outdoor bar you could sit down at the pool or enjoy the music near the front of the bar. There were only two servers that we saw that night. It took a while to get drinks. It took a while to pay for them too. Actually we gave up and decided to charge it to our room. Drinks Pricey and small, but good. I got the Li hing mui margarita. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone it takes a required taste. I grew up with it so I really enjoy it. I think most people would enjoy the lava flow. It's piña colada with strawberry purée. Food The only option is pizza and I need to eat when I drink. The menu quoted 30-40 minutes and it took 40 minutes to get our pizza. I guess it takes so long because it comes from the Round Table Pizza which is about 5 -10 minute walk from the Tapa Bar. We ordered the King Arthur Supreme. It arrived hot. It's topped with pepperoni, Italian sausage, salami, linguica, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, black olives on zesty red sauce. It went well with our drinks. If the live music wasn't available we wouldn't have drank and ate here. No one provided any water to anyone at our table until it was pointed out and water cup brought to child. Service abysmal, food was nothing special (and cold - both the waffle fries and the wings). It does get really busy once band starts playing at 7-10 and then again it's the only bar that stays late open in the whole resort which is understandable! I have been there twice in the past couple weeks. The first time, I ordered the Farmer Salad. It was very good. The last time, I tried the Singing the Blues burger which is described as having carmelized onions and bacon. When it came, I said this is not my order, because there was no bacon or onions to be seen. They brought it back saying it is the correct order. There was bacon, but where was it? Guy at the bar, wearing shades the whole time acting like he's Magnum PI or Spicoli. 2) I wanted to add to another topping to my pizza and was told no. "We can't add, only substitute, (that should be listed on the menu), and well, if that's the policy, why then was I able to add the previous time I came here? Was the waitess just being nice? She DID CHARGE ME for the extra topping, AS IT SHOULD BE. Unless a request is absolutely ridiculous, there should NEVER be a "no" policy, specially with such a tiny menu. Adding a topping equals more money for your business... 3) Add another shift so that no one server gets overwhelmed...If its that difficult, maybe you should stop offering food, and keep it just a bar. So sad. Well, it has been 35 minutes since I got my food, no one has come to check if I need anything else, or if everything if okay. This 5 star is all based on the one drink I got. The frozen Waikiki. It was de-light-ful. The live band was amazing, the wait staff was fast. It took a while to get to us but the bar was packed and there were only two wait staff on duty. But they were working their asses off. This 5 star is to balance out all the negative karma on here. The huge open air setting, protected from the rain, and proximity to a pool so parents can get drunk watching their kids, also gets 5 stars. I forgot one cocktail I ordered one night, and the bartender tracked me down by the pool ... 5 stars. The two bartenders I ordered from were very attentive. The wait staff, however, is atrocious. Super long waits to get served, whether there are a few customers or many. Just go to the bar. They get 1 star. Price and selection get 1 star. There are way better local brands. I only got food once, Round Table pizza, which is on the property. I reviewed them seperately. Honestly, unless you are really into Hawaiin music or need to watch your younglings swim and need a slight numbing sensation to counter the screaming children, just get a pizza directly from Round Table, get a six pack of Waikiki brand beer from ABC, and head to the beach or your hotel balcony. read more

Before it was shut down (due to Covid mandates)- this was one of the few great & fun places with good variety of live music bands that played fun dance music (and dancing was allowed in the very small area fronting small stage) and also 'chill/ easy listening' style live music . And bands' schedules were also posted on website & at venue. They've recently reopened, but the dance area space has been completely removed & there's no posting of live music bands' schedule on website nor at venue. Calling hotel itself doesn't get sufficient responses. Left many messages with a number of different Dept managers' offices but never heard back. Hotel operator provided only very limited info. There are only very few dancing venues now - so it's a huge disappointment that this dance space was removed ! Especially when some live bands play good dance music - but there's no area to dance. Therefore it would be much appreciated and wonderful to provide the dance area space again. Both tourists and locals would be happy & grateful. Note: we actually spoke with a number of hotel tourists guests there on many weekends and they also expressed disappointment in not having at least same dance area space provided before. read more

best mai tais on the island! My boss took me here 3x now, and I brought one of my friends here too. I havent had anything but the MaiTai's but during happy hour they are only 8 bucks. They use good dark rum and pour fairly for the price. They also use fresh pineapples and you get a nice view of the tourists walking by as well as a live show on some nights. read more

Service is horrible, especially Holly. We sat at our table for 30 minutes with a dirty table of food, drinks and check from previous guests. We have been coming here for over a decade. It used to be a relaxing, enjoyable place to come and enjoy an evening of live entertainment and a cocktail or two. The problem is they have added so many new towers and are packing people in here like sardines. Yes, they added a couple od small pools, but not any new venues for live music and/or bars. In fact, they eliminated the bar in the rainbow tower for some curious reason. The food at the Ztapa comes from The pizza place across the hotel complex. They were ignoring our servers calls and she had to run over there herself to get our order. This does not seem efficient to me. We went for a walk around Waikiki Beach and ended up at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Being thirsty (and yearning for a cold draft), we stopped at the "Tapa Bar". Since 2013 it's been renovated and no more couches filled with tourists sleeping awaiting their flights. They've taken that area and added more tables/chairs. Great! As for the service, the bartender was such a "BWA" (Bartender with Attitude). Slow, and when I had asked him, "So, what do you have?", he pointed to the display of beverages and said "It's all right there.". No smile or hint that he was joking. He was serious. How rude. The beer I ordered came to $8. Not bad considering you're isolated from the sometimes scary locals there along the beach and safely set at the Hilton. My wife opted for a non-alcoholic beverage, which I give him credit in recommending to her. The manager was on site and he "pepped-up" when he was in the area. I had asked the manager why food wasn't served (actually I said, "Why not even offer peanuts or pretzels") and he said they had to change to plastic cups and remove the food because the birds would ruin the place, e.g. break glasses, invade your meal, bother you, etc., so he had to remove it from being an option. Now, being a retired police officer, I know you are "supposed" (I don't know Hawaii state laws) to offer something aside from alcohol as a food to prevent over intoxication (over indulgence), where I worked, so I can't see that another method of serving snacks couldn't be thought of. Just writing this here brings to mind the offering of boiled and flavored Edamame (sesame or garlic to name a few) or other non-bird enticing snacks. This just didn't seem right. One DWI from a patron and they will be sued to the hilt. It's outdoors and not in a place where snacks can't be served. You have a table and chair, you have a bar countertop, and there is just no visible reason for this oversight. Try chips and other snacks in a bag or covered "Themed" wooden bowl of nuts. It would be fun and meet the standards. I expect more from the resort where I own TWO timeshares. Let's get it together folks. The price is right for a safe, somewhat clean rest area within the Hilton confines. Grab a coke and leave. That's my recommendation. Better yet, get bottled water about 30m from there at the ABC Store (on your way to the Kalia Road exit) and drink that. You'll find a "proper" pub with food offerings elsewhere on the strip. This bar is more of a lounge type bar. There are plenty of chairs and tables surrounding the actual bar. There are no TVs for your viewing pleasure, which makes this more of a social bar. Beer and wine are way over priced so go for the good stuff. I suggest the Mai Tai or the Category Five Hurricane. You will get a nice little buzz after drinking just one. Most of the Drinks are around the $9-$11 range. I have been here numerous times and they have never served cocktails in a plastic cup. I always get a very large hurricane glass to go with my Category Five Hurricane! By the way, it is the best you can get that I have had outside of New Orleans!!! Hence the Five Star Ratinig!!! They do serve Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts and are pretty generous. If you don't get them right away they will bring them sooner or later or just ask. Drinks are okay .... small selection on happy hour menu. Didn't quite get a buzz from my drink. I did see them measure the alcohol though. My huge gripe about this place and I've been here twice is that service is lacking. I mean.... I don't expect people to chat up a storm with me but geez fake a smile at least !
