It's gonna be a no from me. The good: service is great although I really don't love places that make you order up front like you're at a McDonald's but then charges high end prices. At least they bring it out to you and clean up the table. The girls that work here are very, very nice and welcoming which is always appreciated. The okay: the corned beef hash was very tasty, even though the potatoes were not fully cooked and they were diced very large. The hollandaise leaves a little to be desired. My husband has the brunch burger and said it was pretty good but lacked seasoning. The bad: they brought my daughter a waffle that was not only stone cold but it was so thick and so dense I thought it was fake. If you have children that are into the "slow rising squishy" trend that is what the waffle reminded me of. I couldn't even cut it. We sent it back right away and the girls didn't even seem surprised. Why bring it out at all? We ordered the French toast sticks instead and they were fine. Now: the cinnamon buns. They are pretty damn awful. They are dense, they are thick, they taste like carrot cake and they bring them out on tiny plates overflowing with messy, runny frosting. Also: they were hot as lava....why? Great patio and nice staff! You order at the counter, receive a number, and food is brought to the table. The back patio is comfortable and has a nice fan which helps cool you down and prevents mosquitoes and flies from roaming the area. Tried the bunlesss burger and husband ordered the lamb burger. I'm so glad my husband and I found this place!! Busy Sunday morning and they were able to accommodate a party of 7 in such a short notice. Right away as we came in we were greeted and sat down, when you walk in you feel the place very "home-style environment". I loved the atmosphere and ambiance of the whole place. The menu is sooo easy to read and in very detailed-not too much going on where you get overwhelmed with too much reading. They have various options for drinks. Luckily they serve brunch aalll day on the weekends, I opted for chicken and waffles and my husband ordered the Texas scramble and friend of ours order the stuffed sandwich. I tried a bit of each and Wow not disappointed at all. I ordered frozes and were just right, not too sweet or watered down. Yummers. Came this morning for breaky with the boo. Love this little mom and pop shop with daughter bouncing around clearing tables with her bow atop her head. The good: CHICKEN & WAFFLES!!! I got the chicken and waffles which I do believe are some of the best in town! So crispy. And a good amount of chicken they don't skimp. The OK: Boyfriend got steak and eggs. He wasn't super in love with the steak but the eggs were cooked PERFECTLY over-easy which is hard it seems. He looooved the gravy too. The bad-ish: the steak could have been better, but literally for $10 with hash brown and eggs can't complain. Maybe they should offer a side of biscuits as an option for a low charge? Finally a fresh new spot in meyerland that's not franchised or w an exhausted old menu! Tapester's provides this area w/ the local, organic, coffee house feel without the drive to montrose, eado, or the heights. The dishes are fresh, served w quality ingredients and a helping portion. We ordered the chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros, and the sticky bun. The chicken tenders were freshly fried, the waffle had a nice crisp, the sticky bun was gooey...simply put the dishes were cooked to perfection which sometimes can be hard to find. The only thing preventing this local spot from a 5 star was that although all the dishes were cooked nicely in terms of temperature and texture, each dish felt like they were still lacking 1 or 2 ingredients from making it perfect. A little more heat or spice to the chicken tender batter or a few more dashes of salt to the white gravy were just some of the minor aspects missing in our opinion. Otherwise, we are more than ecstatic to have this place nearby and hope to see it as a staple for the neighborhood. read more

This place is a gem in the Meyerland area! We came on Easter Sunday for lunch and were very pleasantly surprised at how wonderful our experience was. The restaurant is new and very cute inside given that it's in a nondescript strip mall area. Order at the counter and find a seat, there's plenty inside and outside and it's great for large groups since you can easily put tables together or sit along the benches in the back. The waitstaff was very helpful in arranging all the large groups of diners that were coming in. The brunch menu is extensive, with options ranging from the traditional eggs benedict to huevos rancheros to chicken fried steak and honey butter fried chicken sandwiches! Honestly there weren't many "healthy" options on the menu other than oatmeal and granola so I'm interested in trying their lunch menu which I saw had some salads on it. Price wise, this place can't be beat. At first you might be taken aback that each entree is $10-15...but do not fear, the portions are meant for giants. Seriously. I think we could have easily ordered 1 entree per every 2 people and still have been very full. We tried: - Honey butter fried chicken sandwich: This thing was a monstrosity. A HUGE piece of perfectly fried and breaded chicken covered in gravy and cheese served between two ginormous biscuit sides AND a huge side of hash browns. The first few bites of this were heavenly...but after that, it quickly became heavy and made us feel rather sleepy. My friend who actually managed to eat most of it said that it needed some more seasoning in the batter because it started tasting bland. If you get it, definitely share between 2 or even 3 people and don't eat all of the biscuit. And use a fork and knife to eat it! - Beechnut breakfast: As someone who loves variety in a meal, this plate had a little bit of everything: 3 eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns, fruit, gravy, and a biscuit or toast. I asked for my eggs to be soft scrambled but unfortunately the person taking my order didn't know what that meant...oh well. When I got the eggs, they were pretty greasy and in large chunks...not the fluffy soft scramble I was craving. Overall it was A-OK, maybe a touch too greasy for my taste. The gravy was excellent though - super creamy with tons of flavor and little bits of sausage strewn throughout. - Mimosa: Our friend ordered one but the staff forgot about it, when he went up to ask, he came back with 2 (they made him an extra to make up for the wait!) so everyone had a chance to try it. The mimosa is not a traditional OJ/champagne...it was more of a fruity slushie/smoothie thing. It was nice and cool for the hot day but it was definitely not a traditional mimosa if that's what you want. The food I would give 3 stars for taste/flavor and 4 for portion size. What sets Tapester's apart, though, is the people and service. Super friendly wait staff (it's family owned so I think everyone might be related in some way...) that make you feel right at home! Multiple people came to check up on us during our meal and make sure everything was perfect. They cheerfully brought us any extra items we needed, like extra sauce or to-go boxes, with a smile and seemed genuinely happy to help. I really appreciated that extra level of service and it alone would make me want to bring other diners to support this local restaurant. Will be returning for lunch and ordering some lighter options! read more

I visited Tapester's on a weekend trip to Houston, and it was the best restaurant that we went to. When you walk I, you order your food at the register and seat yourself. Everything is self service for the most part. They bring your food out to you once it's prepared, but you get your drink, cutlery, salt and pepper, etc. because of this, I expected for my service to stop at the counter after paying for my food, but it didn't. We continued to receive great service up until we left. The food I ordered was perfect too. I got their fluffy pancakes, eggs, and sausage. I have no complaints. read more

What a convenient location. This area needed it badly. My son goes to the tkd school next door so we decided to try their breakfast. Biscuits n gravy with 2 bacon and 2 eggs: the biscuit underneath the gravy was tasty. It was more dense than fluffy but nonetheless, very tasty. The gravy itself was maybe cooked with some bacon fat since that was all i smelled when it was first put in front of me. OR maybe it was the ultra smokey and perfectly crisped bacon, which was excellent. Breakfast taco with bacon and egg: they cooked one whole egg and maybe a slice and a half of bacon in one taco. My son loved it. He didnt even let me have a bite :( Stickee bun: it was so decadent. I think they drizzled dulce de leche/cajeta on top? The dough was pretty dense and sweet and would be an excellent pair with the katz coffee selection they offer. Overall, we will be back to try the dinner/lunch menu. Literally the biscuits are the size of your head! I could drink the gravy straight and the French fries are to die for! All the employees are sweet and super helpful I think they employ high school kids and I really like that because I remember my first high school job. Last time I went I had the tenders they were so soft and juicy and the honey mustard was so good. My mom really enjoyed the French toast and the coffee selection is very good. I went to Tapster's for the first time on a Saturday afternoon based on all of the great reviews. I just missed the rush and it was fairly empty at the time. The restaurant was cozy and the staff was great. They were extremely helpful and also let us know what items were popular and which items were actually some of their favorites. Typically when I go to new restaurants, unless a friend tells me about a dish that is good, I will order something that I consider to be easy enough to not mess up. This time was no different. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy with a small piece of squash casserole (recommended by the cashier) Unfortunately it was a no... The taste of everything was extremely bland and I'm not exactly sure what kind of milk, if any, was used for the mashed potatoes but there was an off taste. While the staff was great, I know that I will not be retuning to this restaurant. We came here for brunch but just missed it unfortunately. Luckily their chicken and waffles are always offered so we got that and also the chicken fried steak. In terms of meal balance we made a huge mistake. Everything was fried and heavy! We enjoyed only the chicken part of chicken and waffles. The chicken strips were moist and not heavily breaded. However the waffle was burnt. Chicken fried steak was delicious. I really liked the squash casserole and wished they gave me more and reduced some of the mashed potatoes. I should have asked for gravy on the side as the breading on the steak got soggy. I would have given them 5 stars if it weren't for the burnt waffle. It's a nice place in a random plaza. What gem ! we live in woodside and decided to go here for brunch . After I saw they had outside seating we decided to go and the food abd oruce was great. they also have a pick up window which we saw after we left the place. Service was great. I had their chicken fried steak which was great but next time i order will ask for gravy on the side. You place your orders at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. We all tried different items on the menu though the vegans in the group had a harder time ordering off the menu, the kitchen was accommodating and made sure we all had our breakfast made to order. I had two eggs over easy with hash browns that were delivered to me steaming hot. Portions are generous. Katz's coffee served at the counter and the mimosas were perfect for Sunday brunch. We had a pitcher orange and another pitcher of grapefruit The cinnamon roll was a pumpkin spice dough of a quick bread consistency smothered in icing and nuts served warm.
