Rat specimen sized portions. Hardly any refried beans on these four tacos. This place has really gone downhill lately.
Will S.

This place sucks now!!!!! Go to Taqueria El Guanajuatense off Medina Base Rd by the Chapman side. I've been coming to El Charro for almost 15 years. It's been about a 3.5-4 stars on the food. But the service was always excellent, particularly in the morning. Nowadays, however, they're overpriced, and they're serving rat specimen sized portions on their breakfast tacos. Not to mention my bean and cheese tacos were half cold. 3rd time they did this to me. I'm afraid to come back the food has gotten so bad now. And I'm not one to ever complain about these things.

My husband took me here because whenever he came to Lackland for TDY, he would always come here, so he couldn't wait to take me. The food was amazing -- we ended up going the next day for our picky kids to try out, and they absolutely loved the food. Plus side, it's right outside the gate of Lackland AFB. Portions were great and fulfilling. Both times are waitresses were both great, welcoming, and friendly.

#9 Tampiquena steak plate. Bold, amazing flavor!

I came here with my family and was immediately greeted by a nice man and asked if we would like a booth or table. We ordered our food. My son and I ordered the #9 Tampiquena Steak and the sauce was amazing. So much flavor. My husband ordered the breakfast and it looked so good as well. This place is a gem! They have colorful design in the inside and out. It may not be too big of a place but they have wonderful food! Next time you are in the area, try it out. It will be worth it.

Googled location at 1401 Springvale

First of all, both the name, and the address of this Mexican restaurant is questionable. If you look up the restaurant's location on Google Earth, it lists their location at 1401 Springvale San Antonio, Texas. On Yelp however, the location is 150 Valley Hi. Either way, it is located on Valley-Hi at Springvale, right outside Lackland AFB. Second, the name of the restaurant is also confusing. I had a hard time finding it on Yelp. There was some indication that they may also have a location on Marbach Rd. I went to the drive thru that's by Lackland AFB. I ordered some bean and cheese tacos and a couple of barbacoa. I was impressed that the receipt was itemized specific to my order. The tacos were individually labled. There were no prices listed on the receipt. The drive thru menu has hand written signage attached indicating their prices are subject to change without notice. Ok weird. My order was perfectly done as asked. The bean and cheese tacos were really good with some exceptions. One of the bean and cheese had hardly any cheese in it at all. The carne guisada inside the tacos was orange?!?!? I have never seen cardne guisada that color. The person who I ordered them for said they were terrible and tasted like fish, and couldn't eat them. I'm so disappointed. I thought I had found a new place to purchase breakfast tacos when in this area. I have not.

Potato egg I ordered.
Debbie V.

I ordered a potato and egg. Taco had hardly no egg. Rip Off. This has happened before. Thought I give it a second chance. Then their phone is broke and has been for over a year and they never fix it. And they did not give me a receipt. They half ass everything

Strips of bacon Crispy. Edible.

Friendly customer service. Edible food. A "hole in the wall" kind of place. The drink was delicious and on point. Barbacoa on corn tortilla, edible. Bacon is good. Menudo is edible.

Sorry I took a few bites before I took the picture. Pastor Gordita. Dont order this. Get something else. Not tasty.
Dorothy B.

I ordered the gordita. Maybe this place isn't the best place to get a gordita. I thought it was less than okay. Perhaps this place has something else they specialize in. It's not the gordita. I also ordered their horchata. That was good. I ordered a medium and wished I ordered the large. I ate the meal there so I also got chips and salsa. The salsa was to spicy for me. Would I come back again? Possibly? Maybe I'll try the tacos.

a plate of mexican food

This place is horrible. I ordered the easiest and safest thing you could order from a restaurant you've never been to (cheese enchiladas). They were horrible. I'm not sure what dog food taste like, but I'm sure it's this. Do not waste your time or money! STAY AWAY! FYI the places reeks of fabuloso, or something similar.

Eat here every time we come to San Antonio and I will always stop here to eat! Love it! They are quick, the food is delicious and authentic, and the place is really clean! I have the Guisado with beans, guacamole and chips. FAVORITE!! Must try if you are near Lackland!!

It good could have used more bacon and papas though!

So after passing this mexican restaurant a million times I decided to finally stop one morning to check out the breakfast menu! Boy was it delicious! I should have definitely stopped here the chest time I passed it. They have a drive thru and large parking lot to park. The inside is very clean and the staff is welcoming! They are all about military since its next to the base so for those that don't know Spanish, all the waiters speak English! The menus are military theme, super cute and a nice touch in support of our troops. Sweet tea was really good and after ordering meal came within 5 minutes. It was hot and fresh! The potatoes were soft and the beans were mixed with chorizo, which I loves! Over easy eggs made perfectly and the barbacoa was delicious! Not to much fat. The salsa was good as well not hot as all so I did have to put more then normal but its great for military families stopping in for a meal who aren't used to hot San Antonio salsa! $10 for my meal wasn't bad at all! I'll definitely be back. They serve seafood as well and breakfast all day!

From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was special. The atmosphere is beautiful, upscale, and inviting. The architecture and design throughout the restaurant are absolutely stunning. Even the restrooms were impressive and reflected the same attention to detail found throughout the entire establishment. The food was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. This isn't your typical restaurant experience--the menu is creative, unique, and offers something different. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both the preparation and presentation of every plate. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the customer service. My waitress, Kreizon, was absolutely amazing. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made me feel welcome throughout my visit. Great service can make a good meal even better, and she definitely elevated the entire experience. The outdoor dining area is also beautiful and creates a relaxing atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a meal and taking in the surroundings. If you're looking for a restaurant that offers exceptional food, incredible ambiance, unique architecture, and top-notch customer service, Domingo is a must-visit. This is more than just dinner--it's an experience. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in San Antonio.

The restaurant is on the river walk, and right under a hotel, so it's very accessible. The…read morerestaurant itself leans more towards a modern experience. Electronic dance music pulsed quietly in the background. The toilets were all individual unisex stalls that were classy, mine had run out of hand towels. Also, the entire restaurant is very dimly lit. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu, but I have poor eyesight so there's that, but it might explain the quality of the photos I took. The Paloma drink was amazing. It had a great spicy zing in the back of the throat after every sip. Queso was... kinda plain. It might have been better with the add chorizo option. It was very thick. Shrimp cocktail was big, but we started fighting over the shrimp pieces. There was plenty of onion and tomato left over after the batttle. Pollo Asado was a great flavor and the chicken was juicy. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. Sadly there was more batter than chicken. The seasoned fries were delicious and crispy.

It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.
