If you're on the hunt for next-level birria tacos, look no further--Taqueria El Jefe in San Jose delivers flavor like no other. From the moment I opened the box, the aroma alone had me hooked. These tacos are the perfect combination of crispy, cheesy, juicy, and deeply seasoned. The birria is rich, tender, and absolutely packed with flavor. The consommé? Liquid gold. Savory, fragrant, and full of onions and cilantro--it's the ultimate dunk that takes the experience completely over the top. I drank the rest of it because it was out of control delicious! The tortillas are expertly crisped with just the right amount of cheese melted on the inside, holding that juicy beef like a golden envelope of joy. The onions and cilantro add a perfect fresh crunch to each bite. They have outdoor seating in the shade, perfect for lunch by yourself or a group! What are you waiting for?! Go enjoy the best food you've ever had! Final thoughts: If you haven't been here, you're missing out. This isn't just food--it's a birria blessing. It's true, El Jefe really is the boss.

I really wanted some good Mexican food, enchiladas especially. I found Taqueria El Jefe and decided from the reviews and 4 stars on Yelp how could I go wrong. These guys are located in between 7-11 & a gas station. Bright yellow food truck that has good lighting and outside seating with umbrellas..the truck and area around the truck was clean. I ordered a carnitas super burrito & the chicken enchiladas for $32.00. There is a bin of tortilla chips for you to serve yourself. They gave me 1 salsa for the chips. The chips are just ok... salsa plain. The carnitas burrito had more fat than meat & was very spicy. Not a chili kind of spicy but a black pepper spicy, YUK! WHY? The chicken enchiladas came with rice & beans. The rice is not that good, the beans a little salty, nothing special & the enchiladas so spicy I can't eat them. I took 3 bites and my tongue & lips feel swollen. The chicken is dry and there's very little sauce on them. Very disappointing... and we waited 20 minutes and there was nobody ahead of us....

Ordered a breakfast burrito and specifically asked for it to have pastor meat...AMAZING. Flavor was off the charts and the serving size was HUGE. It took me the entire day to finish it. The itself truck is cool, music and umbrellas to sit outside and relax. 10/10 would recommend, just be prepared to wait and be aware of your spice tolerance!

This truck is amazingly delicious! Each time I come here I want to try too many things! I love the quick service and they have seating area if you want to eat here while your delicious food is nice and fresh and hot! They are so friendly, and did I mention the food is hella delicious?! I love the tacos, today I got one of each of asada (top right) the pastor (bottom left) and carnitasssss (bottom right and amazing!) the Quesabirrias are so good too! Consume that comes with is always amazing! I can't say enough about this place! So so so good! Parking is rough when they are busy but I always make do cause it's worth it!

HUGE portions. GIGANTIC portions. FINALLY! You see, I've been to a few food trucks, I say a few because they had very small portions, like small, like really small, like the size of a half hamburger bun, or one slice of bread, plus it was always the same, Mexican orders something, "That will be $3" a white guy orders the same exact thing, "That will be $5" I finally just gave up, I figured, "They're all the same" In fact, I've seen this truck for the longest time because I go to that liquor store it's next to, I'm talking like weekly for the last six months, and never gave it a chance until I read a review that said the portions were big, so I decided to give it a try, got the super nachos, HUGE, next time got the super burrito, GIGANTIC. So tonight I got both the super nachos and super burrito, and I can't finish the nachos, and trust me, I'm a big guy, I can eat a lot, but man, this time the nachos were bigger than before, plus they were always friendly. I've only been three times, but now it's going to be my go to place, it's even better than a sit down restaurant, I would HIGHLY suggest you at least check them out.

EVERYTHING here is SO DELICIOUS! You could literally pick anything off the menu and it's FIRE! Definitely recommend this truck if you're looking for some good food!

I loved coming here, the food was delicious and very filling, assembled beautifully too!! The atmosphere was amazing as well, and as for the service 10/10, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try!!

Wow I was amazed by how great my tacos looked, but the taste was even better! There is sitting place (tables and chairs) and sun tent.

They have interesting dishes with paneer and chicken as well. We ordered two dishes- Leela lasun keema - This dish was intriguing, with cheese, grated egg, and a rich, spicy gravy. The portion size was generous; a single person won't be able to finish it with just three breads. It was very filling, we took back home the leftover and enjoyed it later with some rotis. They have another version of this- "kachu" with runny eggs instead of grated eggs.. well thought option! Volcano egg biryani- The dish is as interesting as its name suggests. The base is an omelette, and the rice is flavorful with bell peppers, finely chopped veggies, and aromatic spices. The center is with a tomato-based curry. The cheese on the side was amazing, and I loved it. The spicy guava drink is super refreshing with a playful mix of spice, salt, sourness, and the sweetness of guava. I really enjoyed it! They have music playing and the place is lit, creating a total vibe for spending time in the evening on a lazy weekend/ after work, or post-workout. The food is pure indulgence and covered our protein requirements with eggs, along with some fat to burn off. Kinda guilt free. Also, they have games, garba events and other many interesting things going on at different times. Superb vibes, never disappoints! Conveniently located in Sunnyvale - easy to find parking. Ask the owners for their recommendations based on your preferences. The best of the bunch was the dahi batata puri, but it still didn't quite hit the spot. It was definitely on the sweeter side and I felt like the dahi/yogurt wasn't as creamy as I prefer. The chinese bhel was okay, but didn't have much flavor. Lastly the ragda pattice had so much potential. The flavor was there, but it was insanely spicy- even as someone with a med/high spice tolerance. You could feel the burn traveling down to your stomach. All of us found it unbearable and worse of all felt the affects for a day after. Perhaps we ordered the wrong dishes but after the all the discomfort of the meal- I don't feel inclined to return.

Yesterday, I ordered a Vada Pav, Shalimar Egg Mughlai (on their recommendation from their list of egg dishes), and a Veg Frankie -- and honestly, none of it lived up to the hype(5 stars currently) or price point. Vada Pav: It was okay. The "mirchi" served alongside was literally a raw Thai green chili. Really? At least pan-fry it with some salt and oil to enhance the flavor. For over $10 with taxes, this was already pricier than better Vada Pavs you can get at places like Elco Drive, and yet it offered nothing exceptional. Frankie: This one made me genuinely angry. It was a soggy maida roll stuffed with the same aloo masala from the Vada Pav, plus a few sad shreds of cabbage. That's it. And they had the audacity to charge $12 for it. ($1.50 for cheese, lol I am glad we didn't add)This isn't a Frankie -- it's a lazy repackaged Vada Pav with no flavor or creativity. They threw in some pickled jalapeños on the side, which only added confusion. If you're running a fusion menu(well partially), at least mention it upfront instead of misleading customers. Egg Shalimar Mughlai: At $13, it was passable but still not impressive. The bun on the side was not toasted or anything. Better than the Frankie, but nothing I'd recommend or return for. I was so excited for trying this place but, overall, this place is overpriced, underwhelming, and frankly disappointing. If your Vada Pav and Frankie are practically identical, maybe inform customers before they order both. I wouldn't recommend Maya Kitchen -- save your time, appetite and money and go somewhere else. Thank me later.

(Roughly under $4 per taco, I had a slightly lower price at night) Tacos Santiaguito is conveniently located in a huge parking lot off Saratoga Ave and Stevens Creek Blvd. During the day around noon, there's a different truck parked here that I personally prefer. I first stopped by a few weeks ago and ordered the cabeza, lengua, and tripa. The lengua was tough, the cabeza was decent, and the tripa was bland. I went home ready to type up a review, but after reading that they're better known for their al pastor, asada, and campechanos, I decided to hold off and give them the benefit of the doubt with a second visit. Stopped by again tonight, and unfortunately, they're consistently average at best. The workers looked like they didn't really want to be there on either visit, they're pretty skimpy with a strict two-sauce-cup maximum, and none of the meats really stood out. Out of the six tacos I've tried here, the cabeza and al pastor were the best. However, the bar is pretty low. It's a textbook 3/5, wouldn't make a special trip out.
