Patio sits on the edge of the farmers market so it's a great place to people watch while you're enjoying your margarita. Food, this is where I lost interest.. I ordered 1 lengua taco (not pictured lol) lengua meat had great texture and flavor but it was a small portion and the tortilla was underwhelming. 2 Shrimp tacos: To start to tortilla was underwhelming as well , the salad on top is a bit overpowering. The shrimp get lost in the mix. Elote (single size) I wanted to love this one but I don't like soupy elote. (Iykyk). Salsa they served on the side was flavorful and decent spice. Taqueria La Ventana is on my go to list for quick, delicious and fresh food. Located in the Dallas Farmers Market, they are a great spot if dining with friends or if solo. I often do carry-out which is also another great option. Seating is plentiful and consists of large community tables in the center and booths along with outside wall. Add to that, there is also bar seating available and weather permitting, there is plenty of space on their sidewalk-patio. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. When busy, they do a great job of managing the line to minimize the wait time. That said, food is prepared to order so it that can take a few extra minutes. Trust me, freshly prepared food is worth a little bit of a wait. I've had several different tacos from here, including breakfast tacos and all have been tasty. I have also had their quesadilla and they always hit the spot. If you find yourself at the Dallas Farmers Market and want something relatively quick and tasty, check them out. read more

My bf ordered the jalapeños margarita. Food: Horchata (4/5) - Pretty good Horchata but I wish it is richer. Taco Lengua (2/5 ) - little disappointed about the taco. Not enough veggie fillings. If you're a regular they wont greet you like they do the new customers asking how you're doing or even say thank you or you're welcome. Unless, its just me they don't like being a long haired Mexican Im treated like that by all races so I'm used to it. After going here every other day for about two weeks I cant take the disrespect anymore. the guy Generson in the pink short totally doesn't ask how I'm doing but will ask everyone else. One of the cooks kept staring at my wife the other day so she doesn't want to go anymore and today this happens... Asked for more cheese because they layered the chips so much only the top chips had cheese. He didn't apologies or anything just said the total for cheese " $3" when the nachos are like $10 with the deadest look in his face never a smile with me. There's seating and inside the place. This spot has delicious tacos with cilantro and onions. I got the pastor but they also have steak, pollo, shrimp and more. The guacamole and queso with chips are a must for an appetizer! It's all very delicious. For drinks, they have beer, margaritas and fountain drinks. Down to three stars. They used to have the greatest quesadillas when they first opened - crispy and topped with crema, tomatoes and other deliciousness. I just ordered a quesadilla and it's barely cooked/toasted, tastes like a chalky flour tortilla and the cheese isn't even melted. Stopped in for lunch this weekend and even though it was pretty busy it didn't take long to get through the line and to get our food. Orders are taken at the front counter. Options are tacos, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, salad, and of course must have sides like chips and queso, salsa, guac, and elotes. There are 8 meat choices and a veggie option as well. We tried the steak, shrimp, carnitas, barbacoa and pastor tacos. I'd definitely recommend any of them other than the shrimp. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. The others were full of flavor and served with cilantro, onions and limes wedges. To up the flavor try the green sauce, yummy! Nothing goes better with tacos than an ice cold beer or margarita, come during happy hour for drink specials, Mon-Fri 3-6p.m. There is seating inside and outside the farmers market as well as their own private patio. They have a pretty limited menu mostly taco's, bowls, burrito's and quesadilla. I ordered a chicken taco and two veggie taco's. The veggie tacos basically just had some chicken, tomatoes etc. The chicken was OK but I'm spoiled with having better taqueria's near my house. The taco's was also quite small. It comes with different hot sauces, I only thought they were ok. I also ordered elotes which was the best part of the meal and I enjoyed it. I can imagine the rent is expensive in this area but it didn't seem like good value for the money to me. They may have been extra busy, there was a long wait and it seemed like they got several orders wrong. read more

This is a great spot, it you want descent Mexican food that won't break the bank. Good for lunch time or happy hour drinks. The food is tasty and service quick. My one issue was the order for the fiesta nachos, shrimp was overcooked which made them very dry and hard to chew. My favorite item is the burrito bowl with pastor. It always hits the spot and tastes fresh. I like that it's light but still filling because it has the just enough rice and beans without going overboard. I do think the tacos tend to be excessively greasy and under seasoned. I'm also curious about the corn tortillas, they taste store bought and I don't think they're made fresh in house. Also, they frequently make mistakes on their takeout orders, even before COVID-19. We always end up checking the order now because it seems every time something is forgotten whether it's the queso, the chips, the cilantro, etc, as mentioned in other reviews. If they could tighten up on this part I think it would make all the difference. Overall very happy with La Ventana and am a return customer. read more

This place is located inside the Dallas Farmers Market, which is a gem. I ordered: Queso and chips (came in a good portion) Chicken Taco Steak Taco A ton of food. But, I ate the steak taco (not pictured). I had a nice amount of chips and dip. I took the chicken taco with me. So........the food was mehh....I love street tacos but only if the tortillia is cooked to perfection, these weren't. The meat was nice on both, seasoned well. Now, the chips and dip. The chips were great and they added salt!! warm, salty chips. Win.....but they queso was watery at best. It had onions, which I don't really want in queso dip. It took me about 8 chips in to decide I didn't like it. I love the atmosphere though, that alone is worth three stars! Also, they sell margaritas....I was working, so I did not try one. read more

I came here after one of my cousins raved about how good the tacos were. The place was pretty packed when we got there. This place is pretty affordable. Most of the tacos are under 2 dollars. For 3 aguas frescas an order of chips and guacamole and 6 tacos I paid $25.00. One thing I really liked about this place is all the meat options they had. They had pastor, chicken, brisket, carnitas, bistec, barbaccoa, and a few others. I had such a hard time deciding which ones I wanted to try. I decided to stick to my usual and I ordered 2 pastor tacos and 1 bistec. The service here is pretty fast. You order in 1 window and then you sit and wait for them to call the name they give you to pick up your order. Overall I was a bit disappointed with this place. The tacos were okay, but I feel like they were lacking in flavor at least compared to other taco spots I've been to. I do love the location and the outdoor sitting area. Went with the steak street taco, he gave us a name which we would be called by and we took a seat until we got called. Once our order was ready we went and picked up our food and the guy showed us where the sauces were. He slightly explained one to be milder than the other - I'm glad I put the sauce on the side versus directly on my taco as neither was mild to me. Overall the taco was bad but I've had my fair share of street tacos and this doesn't come close to some of the others. It wasn't until I got my taco that I realized I wasn't offered an option of corn or flour (yes I'm aware traditionally its corn) however the taco hadn't been heated in any way so it was just a plain corn shell to hold my food. The atmosphere seemed great and I can see this place being a great place to hang out and relax while having a happy hour drink, but as for the food I'm not running back any time soon. read more

I keep giving this place chances since it's so close to my apartment, but every time I've come here has been a huge disappointment!!! Last night, I went there for dinner, it was a Friday, which is one of the most popular nights at the farmers market (so you'd think they are prepared with enough food to deal with the crowds!) I asked for barbacoa tacos, and they told me they were out of barbacoa. No big deal, I ordered carnitas and pastor tacos. After waiting 20 min for my tacos, they tell me they ran out of Corn tortillas!!! WHAT??? This is a taco place! How can they run out of tortillas??? Also, they could have told me that when I ordered, not when Ive already waited and paid for my meal. I opted for flour tortillas which was really my only opinion, and I don't really like. By the time I got my order, the pastor tacos were cold and flavorless. They also forgot my churro, which I had already paid for and wanted to get. I reminded the person at the counter, and waited some time to get it as well. The reason why I'm giving this place 2 stars is only because the churro was descent. But honestly I will not be back! I honestly had zero intentions of trying anything here, but Hubbers, being oh, so thoughtful, thought I might enjoy a bite or two off some tacos he wanted to try. He knows how much I like fried seafood tacos, so he got one with fried shrimp. He loves al pastor, so that one was his choice. (He got other stuff, but these two were the ones he wanted me to try.) And yeah, he was on point. The shrimp, although battered and fried, was so succulent. And how fresh were the veggies that went with it. Didn't need any kind of sauce, it was delicious as is. The al pastor was seasoned and cooked so delicious, I enjoyed that as well. I'm not really sure what else he got, but he pretty much emptied out his tray, so that's testimony of how good their offerings are. Came to my surprise, this was some of yummiest tacos I tasted in a while, especially​ in the area in Dallas for some good ​veggie tacos I haven't found til now.
