Asada Taco
Michael S.

It was obvious I was in for an authentic experience when my big white self stood out as the only non-Latino. Giddy-up. This is gonna be good. I tried four different tacos for under $6: Lengua (tongue), Asada, Carnitas, and Steak Ranchero. The small soft tortillas were loaded with lots of meat and served "street-style". I liked the ranchero version most because it had the most flavor and was juiciest. The carnitas pork was great quality, but the taco needed more sauce or something. Overall, the tacos were bueno. Service was friendly and helpful. When I asked for grilled Jalapenos after ordering, they were prepared and given without hesitation and offered with a smile. The manager even told me like three times how to properly pronounce the word for grilled jalapeño, but I've already forgotten it. Stupid gringo. The Jalapenos were the best. To be honest, I was lost when I found Taqueria Sanchez. My friend had verbally given me directions to the spot and I just picked a different Mexican place than the one she described. Which is cool because now I still have another place to review. Parking is limited to street and a couple temporary spots behind the restaurant. If you like authentic and non-pretentious Mexican tacos, burritos, sopes, tortas, and more then Taqueria Sanchez seems like a valid local choice.

Tortas, Burritos and more

Being Mexican myself, it's hard to find flavor that is as close to homestyle as possible but they do a really good job on the food here. They offer typical mexican dishes and the flavor is really good. They go beyond the usual carne asada and have other Mexican type of meat. I'm a huge fan of tortas and they prepare them very good here. Pretty cheap and a good place to go for a quick bite. Service is super friendly and fast.

Stopped by with my spouse for a quick and cheap bite. I had heard about Tito's being a famous,…read morebeloved west side spot, so I was eager to check it out! We arrived at a peak rush-hour time. Plenty of parking, and, while the line looked quite intimidating, the wait was not nearly as bad as it looked. Really fast service and friendly staff members. Note that there's not a lot of seating, so be prepared to potentially eat in your car or take the food to-go. I ordered a Tito's taco, an enchilada, a cup of guacamole to accompany the chips and salsa with my order, and a piña agua fresca. The taco was delicious. It could have been stuffed just a bit more, but it absolutely hit the spot. The enchilada was not nearly as good as the taco, unfortunately. Texture was very tough and dense, and the flavors were not quite there. The piña agua, however, was absolutely fantastic. Tasted exactly like a fresh pineapple with a perfect level of sweetness. The chips and salsa were my favorite part of the meal, though. The salsa was superb, the guac tasted great (very much a creamy, less viscous texture), and the chips were perfectly fried and obviously fresh. Personally, I thought the prices were fair for what we received. Way higher than a taco stand where the quality would be better, equal or slightly less than a taqueria, but way lower than one of the boutique taco shops around the area, especially given the fact that the chips and salsa come with each meal.

3 stars only because I've been coming here for over 20 years. The tacos with cheese, beef/cheese…read moreburrito, and 1 large salsa have always been my go to order. The tacos remain the best beef hard shell and the salsa is the best in the world. However, it is an absolute tragedy and should be illegal that it's $6.15 for one taco with cheese and $14.70 for a beef cheese burrito. It is also a tragedy that the burrito is kids size that my 2 year old can eat on their own. These used to be my favorite and huge, but I can no longer order them. This place used to be a family favorite but I can no longer order extras like we used to. They closed off the inside which was convenient to order, I think just to make the outside look busy. I'm not a fan of these new changes to my favorite taco place in LA.

You will not be disappointed! You will leave very satisfied and happy. Their burgers are bursting with flavor. They add a lot of the toppings that are supposed to go in the burger. Every bite you were able to get a taste of the toppings. Despite the patty being smashed down it was still very juicy and full of flavor. Their fries were amazing, I really enjoyed them with the burger. The fries have the perfect balance of crispy and soft, making them some of the best fries I've ever had. The customer service was great. They knew we wanted to share the burgers and without asking they cut them in half. Adding this simple touch made us know that they pay attention to their customers and care about providing the best service. The workers were hard at work the whole time and seemed to care about the food they were preparing. Very kind and genuine workers. The inside of the restaurant gave a laid back atmosphere. Making it a great spot to go to after a long day at the beach.

It should have been a hint to turn around and leave when it was completely empty on a Saturday…read moreafternoon. Still, I've been wanting to try Monty's and it's been recommended to me so ma many times, I went ahead and ordered. The service was what one would expect from fast casual and though the ambiance gave "fun, retro diner," the emptiness made it kind of depressing. I took my order to go. This place is wildly overpriced for what I ended up receiving. $30+ for a less than stellar grilled cheese (they need better bread AND cheese), unseasoned fries, and even the ranch was lackluster. The plant based oreo shake was a winner, but I barely wanted to finish the food. Big disappointment and if I ever return, it'll be for a milkshake only.

I love really good vegan places where the meat isn't some black bean or homade mix, or beyond meat…read more Plus the cheese is vegan. I say this because I've seen places whose menu says vegan and the cheese is from a moo moo. I went with the Davy Dog with impossible beef hot dog. I wish I could find this in the stores because it's the best vegan hot dog on the market. Beats Fields Roast Stadium Dog. I did the box with tater tots, you can get fries, a sauce, I did ranch and a drink, I went Cherry Bomb. The entire price point was under 10 bucks I ditched the ketchup on the hot dog. It comes with mustard, fresh onions, pickles on a warm hot dog bun. The tater tots were too salty for my taste buds, but I liked the hot dog and drink. My friend did the menu with the cheeseburger. He's not vegan or flexitarian, and enjoyed the burger too. He also agreed the tots were salty. The one minus was the booth we say at wasn't clean, but it wasn't a ok, ugh, more like ok, not clean but I'll live

I Dont RATE with Stars anymore; you be the Judge…read more I have a love / hate relationship with HomeState. I love the tacos I hate the prices. But I suppose if they weren't Worth $7 I wouldn't come back. I've had most of the proteins but usually enjoy the brisket. Was going chicken last time but they were out and quoted 30 minutes before replenish. No thanks brisket it is. The tacos appear small in the foil wrap but are loaded with meat and plenty of guacamole. The brisket meat is served cold which is weird. They serve queso, but it's mild and not my favorite. Spice it up with one of two good salsas red or green. Last time the queso was steaming hot and that was a Win. Last thing in this review was an $18 frozen margaritas which was comical. Decent flavor but small for the price. That is a never again for me, but sure I will be back occasionally for fresh flour tortilla tacos. There is a bar you can sit at inside or many tables out front. It tends to get very windy in this spot. I'd say service is always decent or better but wait times can sometimes be longer than you would think it should be. I recommend.... you he the Judge!
