I used to come to this bakery very often. We used to love the place and their food. However, they have a policy that their customers wear masks which is great but their staff that works in the kitchen and the baker does NOT wear masks. I'm sorry but if they're gonna be handling my food, they should be wearing masks considering they are older and i do not want to be infected since I've been staying home this entire year. The front desk ladies wear their masks but I've seen one of them wear it below her nose. When I approached them about this issue, they said that it gets hot inside so they don't wear masks. I'm sorry, what? My family and I go to Sarkis bakery which is just next door and their employees all wear masks, are super nice and the bakery is extremely clean. Piping hot out of the oven. I thought the meat tasted like it turned bad. I did not like this at all. Ordered the spinach boreg ($1.75). The boreg dough is pasty and tasteless. Very bland as was the spinach filling. It looked like skinny bok choy instead of salad spinach but maybe this is an ethnic spinach I am not familiar with. I took a bite of each and hated them very much. But again, maybe I'm wrong and that's how these are supposed to taste. Service was ok. Customers don't wait in a line. I had guests coming over today so I called the bakery around noon to order few dozens of Lahmajun for 5:30pm. The representative (the baker) told me, I do not need to order as they will have that quantity around then. When I went to pick up the food, I was told they are already sold out of Lahmajun and the baker that I spoke with earlier has left for the day. TL;DR if you go to this place, make sure they pack everything you paid for, otherwise you might be accused of lying if you told them they missed something later. Customer service in this place is the worst that anyone can get anywhere. I ordered a lot of things and they missed giving me the Cheese Borek. Unfortunately, I realized that an hour later when I got back home. I went back and told them what happened. They gave me the Cheese Borek but I was shocked that the lady was very pissed and kept on saying and yelling that she's sure she gave them to me when I came before (I'm sure she would have called me a liar if there was no other people in the store). The place looks busy, I don't know how she could remember what each customer order and what she packed after an hour of serving many customers. If I could give them a million stars I would ugh SO GOOD. I had a neighbor when I was a little kid who would make boreks with dough, unlike most people who make it with puff pastry. I loved it, and even as a 5 year old, id request them all the time. She moved away when I was 10, and thus, my life was never the same. My mom and I searched all through glendale to find a borek like it, and the closest we got was anoush bakery. One day, my mom called me over and I could hear the excitement in her voice. It is so incredibly rare that I freak out this much about any establishment, big or small. In fact, I NEVER freak out about an establishment this much. But taron bakery has got to be, hands down, the number one hidden gem in glendale. if I could choose the last meal before I die, it would be their cheese borek and lahmejun. If I had to live off of one thing for the rest of my life, that's what I want. Taron bakery WILL cater for my wedding (they've already catered for my birthday- cheese borek a were a hit) Protip- highly recommend you call a few hours in advance and ask for smaller sizes of the borek! A bit of a pain that they don't have them pre made, but special ordering if is worth it. The only cons are the damn area that this place is in. The drivers are ridiculously terrible around there, traffic is such a bitch, and it's quite easy for me to get lost there. I could imagine how some people wouldn't like the customer service, but in all honesty, you won't even think about the way that the workers talk to you after you try the delicious food.
