Local restaurant that I haven't been to since prior to the pandemic. We decided to come have dinner at Tarpy's. The food was delicious! We enjoyed the Bavarian Pretzel, crab cakes and an apple salad that was amazing. For our main course we enjoyed New York steak and the sirloin steaks that were cooked to perfection. We got to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful lights in their outdoor patio. Our server Bobby was FANTASTIC! He was so friendly and kept up with our jokes. We had a great experience here and could not stop laughing. Most definitely will be coming back again. read more

It's a large capacity restaurant but it still has that intimate garden/cocktail party vibe. Great for families and pets (if you choose the heated patio) or special occasions. Such a pretty place to ear. We dined outside in the patio. It's a cute little patio and there was someone playing live music. We got the ribs at as a starter and they were spicy! But super tasty. We split the short ribs and mashed potatoes. They charge a fee for splitting the dish which kind of sucks since the entrees are so big its hard to finish. Oh my gosh, the restaurant itself is so beautiful. Long ago, it seemed like you drove out of town to get to it. Now, it's surrounded by traffic and stores and is a little weird to get to but once you do it is so peaceful and such a nice setting. I think they have Happy Hour daily but don't quote me on it. I love going here with my partner when I'm in the area simply because the quality of the food is excellent and the service is always great. Both of the times i've stopped by were spectacular thanks to the amazing waiters. Whenever people ask me for date night recommendations, I always recommend Tarpy's. Thank you Nick for being such an awesome guy and giving me and my friends a great experience. We came in around 8 (an hour before closing) and we were seated right away. We were originally going to go to a seafood restaurant but that reservation fell through so we had to make a last minute search and call nearby restaurants for an open table. Excellent meal! The staff was pleasant and inviting, the wait time was minimal; even for a holiday. The wait staff was efficient and knowledgeable about the items on the menu. The calamari was absolutely amazing (so much so I didn't get a pic ), it came to the table hot and fast. The drinks are well blended a have good flavor, not just an alcohol dump. The entrees came out and where nothing less than stellar. The pork was fully cooked and juicy to the touch, while the peach glaze gave it a sweetness the lender well to the salty pork. The shrimp where glistening and packed with flavor, and the New York Strip was a perfect medium. The vegetables where not frozen and still had some life in them, amazing color. The potatoes where mashed and did not came out of a box. Overall the experience, service, food, & cost all line up and make for an Excellent Dinning Experience! read more

Don't let the name and logo fool you and deter you from this super cute date night place. I was hesitant at first but this place checks off all the things on the list for a romantic anniversary dinner. We made reservations through Yelp and were seated immediately. The service here is top notch! We didn't wait much for anything as all our food came out quickly and was fresh and hot. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and Patrick, who I think was the supervising manager, was very gracious in accommodating to our needs for a nice outdoor table under the beautiful patio lights and heaters and my wish to celebrate our special occasion alcohol free. The food was really really good. I don't know what happened to the other Yelpers but our dishes were amazing. Shortly after ordering our appetizers, they pushed out our dishes in minutes. We got the bruschetta and the tuna tacos which were both packed with toppings. The bruschetta was creamy with the goat cheese and a little acidic from the charred tomato's while the tuna tacos were meaty and fresh and my favorite for the night of the two. The tuna tacos had a nice crunch from the fried wonton shell and topped with a little dollop of sour cream and wasabi tobiko. Chef's kiss on that appetizer! Our main entrees came out a little after with the 12 hour brisket and the NY steak. Everything was so tender and cooked perfectly. The steak came with garlic truffle butter which melted nicely over the perfectly cooked medium rare steak. It came with charred broccolini and mini potatoes which went nicely. The brisket was also super tender and juicy. Only con was that the portion of the brisket was quite small and made you wanting more. Our server was fantastic and he even surprised us with mango gelato and strawberries with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and candles as a surprise. Fantastic anniversary dinner in a beautiful setting. This was a real treat and I definitely did not think this was a "tourist trap" like some may say at all but rather a historic hidden gem in this beautiful town. Tarpy's will always hold a special place in my heart - I've had many winter formal dinners and prom dinners here in high school and as this past Saturday was proposed to and engaged here! My boyfriend (now fiancé) told me he wanted to go here for his birthday dinner with my family. He loves their scalloped potatoes - and I do too! Their food is delicious, the space is beautiful and perfect for so many different types of dinners, events, meetings and private parties. The service is top notch! Food: shrimp and grits. Pretzel appetizer. Onion rings (thin and crispy and their chipotle ketchup is Amazing) and the popcorn prawns! They are known for their chili crushed chicken. Their Kobe burger is also massive and I've heard great. Their corn dessert is so good! Their heirloom apple cake is amazing! Parking: open lot, free parking. Can be difficult if there's a large party or banquet but always been able To find parking I will definitely be back for more celebrations. read more

It was for our anniversary and we hired a baby sitter for our kids, but we are disappointed. First, they forgot to bring an appetizer. The waitress didn't seem sorry and when we said the appetizer hasn't come when she brought entrees first, she said, "oh did you still want the appetizer?" I was like, who wants appetizer after entree? Plus, their stuff kept coming to see if we are done eating. We had to keep saying "no still working on it" like at least 4 times. Food was tasty, but the stuff were annoying and we didn't get the appetizer so very disappointed. I felt like we were rushed and couldn't enjoy at all. Very expensive for a very short stay. After speaking with my wife, we think that Tarpy's is probably about a 3.7/5 primarily due to the service. We booked Tarpy's for a small family gathering following our wedding. It took a while for someone to help us once we were seated. The person that did was okay but, for the price, we were expecting prompt and responsive service. I don't think we received that. We did receive good food though as nearly everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. They brought out a nice little dessert for us afterwards. I don't have any complaints about the food honestly. Tarpy's made for a wonderful anniversary dinner. The restaurant garden area is breathtaking, and they even treated us to a small table side heater. We ordered a whiskey flight, tropical drink with some peach vodka in it, deviled eggs, grilled NY steak with truffle butter, lamb shank, chocolate cake and apple strudel. The drinks were delicious and very cute. The deviled eggs were creamy with just the right amount of saltiness from the fried capers. The flavors were absolutely balanced. The lamb shank was incredibly tender and boasted a perfectly gamey flavor. I loved the garlic mashed potatoes and the veggies were cooked perfectly, with just a bit of al dente snap to them. That truffle butter was divine. It elevated the entire steak up a notch, which is impressive as the steak itself was completely delicious to begin with. It was grilled to a perfect medium-rare as requested, and the side of potatoes were fantastic. Topping off the evening was the chocolate cake and apple strudel. Both desserts were incredibly tasty and well presented. There's nothing quite like a thick piece of moist chocolate cake to really make your evening. Service at Tarpy's was awesome as well. We felt welcomed and were well taken care of the entire evening. read more

The food was very delicious, however the experience brought this rating down. I took some time to make reservations ahead of time as well as explained on the reservation my wife and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary that day. When we arrived we were sat right away which was nice but expected. We sat there for some time before our waiter came, busy day I get it, especially since the waiter let us know when I asked how his day is going and he said "busy". Took them about 10 min to get to our table when we arrived to ask for our drinks and by that time we knew the appetizer and food we wanted. Again, food was really good and we stayed for dessert as well. By the time we were almost done with our dinner, some couple sat at the table next to us. The host sat them down and asked them if they are celebrating anything special today and they said no, that is something we weren't not asked instead they just pointed at the table and told us that table was open when we got there. The same waiter seemed to be a lot more different with this table and even asked them if he can get them started on some bread and butter as they looked over the menu. Again, we were not asked this at all when we arrived. Never even offered us some bread and butter. My wife and I were never asked for refills of our drinks even though were were done with them midway into our meal. Waiter kept forgetting to check in on us. After dessert we had to wait about 15 min for him to get us the bill so we can get out of there. I expected better especially as I saw other families and couples getting a better experience than we were. We did enjoy the food enough to be back but hopefully we can have a better experience next time. Shame we didn't get it on our anniversary. read more

I took a risk and ordered the vegetarian meal that was labeled as a "Large Plate" of "Mediterranean Hummus" with eggplant samfiana. It was a complete disappointment. Less hummus than comes in a typical container. About half a cup of vegetables in what I assume was the samfiana, and not quite a full pita worth of bread. There were also three little balls that were supposed to be falafel, but not like any falafel I've ever seen. All around, do not recommend. I also got the tuna tacos and the appetizer ribs. The flavor of both was good. The price has gone up as the quantity has decreased. I can accept that, but not the crappy "Large Plate Mediterranean Hummus" disappointment. read more

I received a couple of phone calls from Tarpy's to confirm our reservation and the location (inside or outside patio). They definitely went out of their way to make sure the set up was to our liking! Lady's restroom had a sign to please not flush anything but toilet paper, but the seat is so old and gross you have to put multiple seat liners down just to feel okay about using it. So--I would ask the managers to please consider replacing the seats. They shouldn't be so old and dingy and pockmarked at a place as nice as the rest of it. Its a real letdown. Food was okay! My partner got a steak which was evidently delicious, with salad.
