Taste and Glory is one of those brunch spots that lives up to the hype. The menu puts a creative Asian fusion twist on classic breakfast favorites, and the result is both unique and incredibly satisfying. Every dish looked as good as it tasted. The flavors were fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully executed without feeling overdone. You can tell the kitchen pays attention to the details, from the beautifully plated entrées to the perfectly cooked eggs and crispy, well-seasoned sides. The fusion elements add just enough creativity while still letting the comfort of brunch shine through. The drinks were equally impressive, especially the specialty lattes and refreshing house beverages that paired perfectly with the meal. It's the kind of place where you'll find yourself eyeing neighboring tables and already planning what to order on your next visit. Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Even with a busy dining room, the staff kept everything running smoothly and made sure guests felt taken care of.
Came on a Friday afternoon. Waited 5-10 min. Not long. Ordering was quick. Got their chicken croffle, Tom yum scramble and an ube latte Honestly left a tad disappointed. For the chicken croffle. You do lose all the flakiness of the croissant. The chicken was good. The Tom yum scramble. The Tom yum sauce doesn't work well with the. Other flavors. Wish the croissant was toasted. The ube latte was good. Not too sweet.
We saw that Taste & Glory had a lot of hype and mentions of long lines, but we thankfully got lucky one day and got in with 0 wait. Cute and quaint cafe in San Mateo with unique offerings. The thai tea french toast immediately caught my eye because I love thai tea and anything thai flavored in general. While it is presented beautifully, the flavor itself fell flat for me. Thai tea is known to have bold flavor and a strong tea taste. This was really lacking that. My partner got the chicken croffle and he loved it. I tried it and it is definitely something I'd order too! Chicken was nice and crispy and the croffles weren't dry or soggy, but the perfect in between. We liked that it came with both a savory sauce and syrup. I'd definitely return to try other things sometime.
Delicious brunch spot! I recommend getting there as early as possible since the wait can get pretty long. We went on a weekend and were able to get seated right at opening. We tried two dishes and both were excellent: -Tom yum scramble: The tom yum flavor really came through and was present in every bite of the eggs. -Thai tea french toast: Great flavor overall. I liked that the thai tea sauce was served on the side so you can adjust the sweetness to your preference. I do wish the french toast had been a bit fluffier but overall still good. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for brunch with unique and flavorful dishes!
We walked in on a Saturday - right before the line got super long - and waited for 10 minutes. Staff greeted us and took our orders right away. The tables were really close together so it was a bit harder to maneuver around. It was easy for someone to bump into the table when passing by. For drinks we got the blue butterfly - which is on the sweeter side. We also got the iced biscoff latte but a bit disappointing. It wasn't sweet enough and you couldn't really taste the coffee. We really enjoyed our dishes - carbonara udon, crispy honey chicken Benedict and the ube pancakes. The carbonara udon was on par with the one we had in Japan. The chicken Benedict was full of flavor and the eggs were cooked to perfection. I've had better ube pancakes in the peninsula but they still tasted good!
The food is rounded up to four stars. I liked the carbonara udon. I don't think an omelette here though for example would be worth braving the line (yes, even on a weekday there was a line) and parking situation. If you see no line and you find a parking spot, it's a cute brunch place; otherwise it's not worth it because you do feel a bit rushed even if you get in (not from staff necessarily but just seeing the crowd). There are more brunch options downtown now though (Johnnys, whispers) so maybe things eased up.
One of the better brunch places I've had in awhile. Immediately we noticed that there's a line, and luckily the wait was not long but they do require the entire party to be there to be seated. We had the chicken croffle and the tom yum croissant. I liked the chicken croffle with how big the fried chicken is, and the sauce it comes with complements the flavors well. The chicken itself was a little bit dry in the middle. The tom yun croissant is very creative, never had anything like it before. I like that there's a lot of crab provided in the croissant. It can get heavy after awhile with the sauce. Overall I had a good experience here, good service despite being so busy most of the time. I would come again!
Great first experience! Very cute place with great food. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Good came out pretty quick too. I ordered the Crème Brûlée French Toast and O.M.G it was SO good. It legitimately tastes like crème brûlée. Even the top of the French toast was crunchy and sugary. I also ordered the iced Ube which was so tasty! Not too sweet and it had chunks of Ube in it. Yummy!! I left very happy and satisfied. Definitely look forward to coming back.
Cute, modern, and cozy brunch spot. My friend and I came here at around 1pm on a Saturday. There were 3 parties ahead of us when we arrived, so we waited about 10-15 minutes before being seated. It took some time for our food to come out after ordering. I ordered the Crispy Honey Chicken Benedict. I really enjoyed this dish. The potatoes were perfectly bite-sized, crispy, and seasoned. The poached eggs and chicken were a good combo. Whenever I order an eggs benedict, I'm only able to finish half and have to box up the other half. However, I was able to finish 98% of this dish. It could be I was super hungry this day or the flavors and portion were just right for me. Anyways, that's just to say it was good.
Finally checked this place off my brunch bookmark list after wanting to try it for quite some time. We came around noon on a Saturday and only had a short wait outside, though the line situation felt pretty chaotic with multiple customers walking straight into the restaurant and skipping ahead. Thankfully, we were still seated within about 15 minutes. I really enjoyed the Tom Yum Scramble served inside a croissant. The croissant itself was a bit disappointing, slightly stale and reminiscent of a Costco croissant but the tom yum scramble was absolutely delicious and flavorful enough to make up for it. The Thai Tea French Toast was nicely balanced and not overly sweet, though I would've liked a bit more texture and crunch. As for the drinks, I'd probably skip them next time. Both the ube latte and matcha latte tasted a little artificial, and I've definitely had better versions at other brunch spots. Overall, I enjoyed the food and appreciated how attentive the service was.
Such a great breakfast spot! We were seated right away and the food was very unique and tasty. Would definitely come back for the chicken and croffles!!! The perfect mix of savory and sweet. Not to mention the waffle definitely does have a croissant like texture. 10/10!!!! The tomyum scramble was delicious and the ube pancakes have a mochi like texture similar to the Trader Joe's Ube mix I would def go back to try other dishes on the menu and eat that yummy chx croffle again. It is street parking only but easy to find. The restaurant is cute inside with hanging wooden lanterns and a open concept. Go go go!
Glad I finally tried this spot for brunch! I've driven past and always see a line but it moves faster than expected. Ordered the fried chicken benedict and basil ribeye, both were good. Servers were very attentive and quick. -chicken benedict (5/5): chicken was crispy and juicy, it was fried well and not greasy at all. I really liked this dish and would recommend. -basil ribeye (4.5/5): steak was tasty and flavorful! but I think I'd opt for something lighter next time for brunch
A solid brunch spot with a wide variety of options. We visited as a party of three on a Monday around 10am and were pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately. The menu offers a great mix of both sweet and savory dishes. That said, they were unfortunately out of chicken and patties during our visit, which limited some of the savory choices. I ordered the Thai tea French toast and really enjoyed the unique flavor. My friends had the chipotle Benedict and steak & eggs, both of which they liked. Service was relatively quick and efficient. Overall, a great experience with just a minor hiccup on menu availability. I'd definitely come back to try more items!
Came in with a couple of friends and dined family style. We asked the server what he recommended and basically ordered it all - we ordered the chicken croffle, tom yum scramble, basil steak and the creme brulee french toast. I was skeptical but all of it was amazing! I wish the french toast was cooked a bit longer so the texture was better, but flavor was still good. The basil steak was my favorite. Swung by on a Friday around 12:30 pm and lordt there was a 15 person line in front of us. However, I will say it moved at a good pace because we were seated around roughly 12:50 pm as the interior is a bit larger than you'd expect. My friend and I were hangry by this time and had also definitely been looking in through the window so were definitely influenced by the biscoff latte we'd seen moments earlier LOL sadly, the biscoff latte...was not what we'd expected? I hardly ever say this but it wasn't sweet enough l o l which was disappointing. My friend opted for oat milk given her lactose intolerance and honestly, I wonder if the lack of whipped cream on top + oat milk just really dropped the sugar level. I would not recommend it oops. Food wise, she got the chicken and waffles and I grabbed the huevos rancheros without the chorizo (woot vegetarian!). They did have other veggie options, both savory and sweet, but this was the mood for meee. Food was good overall and service was helpful and kind. Prices are fair for the quality and the location. All in all, a solid asian brunch fusion spot. Street parking in the area can be hit or miss so plan accordingly! read more
Visited Taste & Glory for the second time with a party of 4 on a Sunday around noon. Only a 5-10 minute wait and there was street parking. Staff were attentive and friendly. Love taking friends here who are visiting! The bay has a lot of thai brunch spots that other cities don't have so it's very unique. My go to is the crab omelette and the chicken croffle is also very good. The service is always very good and the staff is so nice. The parking situation is a bit tricky but there are residential streets near by with a short walk! read more

I thought this place was going to be all hype because the aesthetic is bougie as hell, but the hype is real, y'all!! Came here with some friends expecting to enjoy conversation with the food as an afterthought, but was pleasantly surprised by how tasty everything was. The fact that I came here with foodie friends and walked away with everyone full and completely satisfied says a lot! Food: - Fried Chicken Benedict was awesome - We all split the Thai Tea French Toast which was good. The sauce wasn't too sweet Service: - The staff was warm and professional. They did a good job of politely but firmly managing the line and seating / clearing efficiently! - The servers were speedy and attentive, constantly filling our water and asking if we needed anything Price: - Everyone got 1 dish, we split a french toast, and 1 person got a few cups of coffee, yet we only paid $36 each with 18% tip! I thought it would be a lot more considering most people took a to-go box home Vibe: - Clean, minimalist with light woody finishes and pops of green. Very Japandi/Scandinavian. I felt calm here. Tips: - Get here early to avoid a long line. We came at opening on a Saturday and didn't need to wait. Once we left, a line snaked along the whole restaurant. - Make sure your whole party shows up at the same time. They only seat complete parties and enforce this as they get busy. - There's parking behind the restaurant and in the neighborhood off the man road. All in all, I highly recommend this spot! We came on a Saturday afternoon and the line wasn't too long at first, though it filled up quickly after we joined. We ordered the Tom Yum scramble, Thai tea French toast, and crab cake Benedict. The Tom Yum scramble tasted exactly like tom yum soup, so flavorful and absolutely delicious. The Thai tea French toast came with a tasty Thai tea-flavored syrup and Oreo crumbs on the side. The crab cake Benedict came with a mildly spicy hollandaise sauce, along with a side of potatoes and salad, and was also very tasty. Everything we tried was delicious, especially the Tom Yum scramble. The interior is beautifully decorated and very aesthetic, and the wait staff was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. I highly recommend if you're looking for a great brunch spot in San Mateo! read more
Not sure why it took me so long to try this gem, I mean it's walking distance from my house. Walked in today for brunch, we were seated right away. For being a week day they had a bit of people. The service was great, as soon as we were seated, a gentleman brought us water and the menu. We ordered the tom yum scramble, sweet croffle with berries, a side of scrambled eggs, and a side of bacon. The sweet croffle was my favorite item that we ordered. It was not too sweet. I will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu read more
Saw this place always had a line as I drove by. Decided to try it out with some friends. We were worried about the line since weekends they don't take reservations. We ended up there around 12, noon for lunch time, we were aiming for brunch but one of my friends was caught up watching the game. Surprisingly there was only two parties ahead of us and we were seated within 5 mins. The place pretty modern, simple and brightly lite. Menu is for the most part American with a few dishes that had a asian twist to it. We had the tom yum scramble, carbonara, chicken and croffle, banana french toast. All of them were delicious. The carbonara was really rich and cheesy with bacon. I think it's best split with someone else unless your good with such rich and cheesy dish. Tom yum scramble was over a croissant and a side of salad. There was some tom yum flavor but subtle. Wish there was a bit more. Def can taste the crab too. Chicken and croffle I think is where it's at. Got two juicy cuts of chicken stacked with two croffles. Comes with syrup and a hot sauce dip. Can't complain with that combo. read more

I've always seen big lines at Taste & Glory and always wondered if it really was that good. Glad to report the hype is indeed true. The chicken croffle is an amazing dish with tender chicken and warm, fluffy waffles. The spicy dip and maple syrup elevate the flavors. The kicker is the Biscoff crumble they add to complete the dish. I suggest going past noon for shorter wait times, and there's plenty of parking around. The service and vibe of the place inside are pretty good. read more

I previously have been here about a year ago and really liked it, so I decided to come back with my family to eat a brunch. Ordered somethings to share and mostly had our own food. Overall service was standard but nothing worth noting The chicken croffle was my go to and is still very good! Decided to try this place out for brunch on a weekend. Yelp reviews seem to indicate this place is getting popular. There will be a line on weekends. So be ready to wait a bit outside if you are a large party. Also, parking may not be as easy in these parts. Its going to be street parking mostly. It's right on El Camino, and in a part of San Mateo that is gradually seeing a change away from old asian establishments that have been there forever (some of them were really good and cheap) - to what looks like the next generation of asian-fusion places with a modern flair (and a menu thats equally marked up) The interior is cute - and they have a decent amount of space for everyone. We lucked out and got a table close to the window and their little knick-knack showcase wall. That wall will keep you entertained with the stuff they got on it. Service is quick, despite the crowds, and they seem to have the situation under control with what looked like a lot of first timers being drawn to the place due to its favorable reviews. Overall food was good. I went for the basil steak, which was an interesting option for brunch - don't normally do rice for breakfast. It was cooked medium-well, and could easily be a lunch of dinner dish. Nothing exceptional, but the flavors were right. My wife got the Garden omelette. Once again, nice presentation, and good amount of salad and potatoes with it. One of our kids got a matcha latter that looked really good - though since I am not. fan of Matcha, I would really not be the person to gauge if it tasted any good. Overall - a decent brunch place. I would say the prices are a little on the higher side. Was not expecting to pay $30 for a small steak with rice. I think I would still choose Toast in Town in Foster City over this place. read more
One of the most interesting and delicious brunch places we went to! They don't do reservations for brunch on the weekend, it's a first come first serve. The wait wasn't that bad, we waited around 20 minutes to get seated. Tom Yum Scramble - you don't see many Asian fusion brunch with tom yum, this was our first time seeing it. It wasn't soupy, more like a tom yum paste. We substituted with egg whites which made it a bit creamy. The croissant had a little crisp to it and it was flaky. Although the sauce with the egg was a little bit heavy, it was very delicious! The Benedict - the hollandaise sauce was more on the tangy side which I didn't mind. Very creamy yet very light at the same time. It paired well with the rainbow potatoes which was crispy. The biscuit was thick which helped the sauce from not making it too soggy. The drinks we got was the blue butterfly and the iced ube. Both drinks were refreshing and I loved how colorful the drinks were. They were aesthetically pleasing to look at and delicious to consume. This place is amazing!!! Even with the small wait it worth every minute! Let's start with the parking plenty in the back of the building. There is a small wait for totally worth it! The location is beautiful inside and quick service with the sweet welcome and delicious food!!! We ordered the crab egg Benedict's with the spicy hollandaise sauce so yummy but the star at the show was the delicious juicy crispy chicken Kraffel wow!!! It was just perfect!! We were shock there really wasn't a line on a Saturday morning around 12. We were seated relatively quickly. We started with 6 girls but they said they wouldn't seat without the whole party even though we were ordering shared dishes. One of the girls got held up at the airport for an hour so we said 5 and they said they wouldn't be able to accommodate her if she came (even though they gave us the same size table). We went on without her and by the time she texted an hour later... our food wasn't even out yet. It wasn't like they were busy either there were plenty of empy tables so they could've easily accommodated one more seat or we could've dragged one.. especially because I think they had originally set up the table to be for 6 people so that was a little annoying. Parking lot is also SMALL. You either have to park fairly far down the block or stalk the parking lot for someone to leave. Food itself was pretty good. The Tom Yum scramble was a surprised. When it showed up we thought there was no color to the eggs but the explosion of tom yum flavor was def there! The chicken croffle was really crispy and flavorful. Would def recommend but our favorite dish may have been the udon carbonera. It was so creamy and rich and the udon noodle is perfect for grabbing all the creamy sauce. The steak and eggs were okay, the best part about it was the crispy potatoes. They were perfectly crunchy with a whole lot of flavor. Also on the noteworthy items, I got the carmel popcorn latte... and I would have to skip on it last time. It tasted more like caramel milk than espresso... Prepare to wait for a bit if you're a party of more than 2 people. Since there were only two of us, we got seated right away. Service was fast and efficient. We got the carbonara udon and the new orleans omelette. The new orleans omelette came with a salad, a few fruits, and bread with butter. It was good but I probably wouldn't order it again just because it was pretty ordinary. The carbonara udon was extremely delicious and creamy. The noodles were cooked to my liking. I'd love to go back and try the other food on the menu. read more

Amazing Asian Fusion Brunch in San Mateo! Location: Located on El Camino Real near Hobart Ave (12th Ave), right across from a strip of apartments. There's street parking out front and additional parking in the rear. They've set up a small black extendable divider outside for busy hours -- since there's not much room to wait once you step inside. If you see a line, you'll need to wait outside until it's your turn. It's first come, first serve, and the whole party must be present before being seated. Visit Experience: A friend from the Bay Area recommended this spot, so we came on a Saturday morning for brunch before heading out on a Napa winery trip. When we arrived, there was already a line of people waiting! It looks like they might have two connected dining areas, but it still gets packed quickly. Service: The staff and servers were super friendly and helpful. Service speed was impressive -- our food arrived in under 5 minutes even though the restaurant was full! What We Ordered: * Chicken Croffle - Hands down one of the best chicken & waffle (croffle) dishes I've ever had -- even better than the famous Poppy + Rose in LA! The sauce that came with it was incredibly good (wish I knew what it was!). * Tom Yum Scramble - A croissant filled with Dungeness crab, mushrooms, and potatoes, all flavored with a Tom Yum twist. Such a creative and tasty fusion combo. * Ribeye Steak with Eggs - Simple but solid! The steak was tender, flavorful, and pre-cut, making it easy to enjoy. We live nearby and usually there's a long line but today there was no line and we decided to give it a try. From the outside you'd have no idea how cute and spacious it is inside! It's modern and warm with some fun decor. We were seated right away and the staff were very friendly from beginning to end. The menu is very inviting with quite a variety of options to choose from including a few Asian fusion dishes. I had the fried chicken honey eggs benedict. The name alone is a mouth full! It did not disappoint. The dish came with salad and crispy rainbow potatoes that were SO good. My husband had the tom yum scramble ($27) and he loved it. It's a bit pricey for breakfast but it's huge and can easily make two servings. I loved the presentation. They have really cool plates with an edge around it and gold utensils. Super cute. Gave it an elevated feel. Will I go back? Absolutely. Can't wait to try other dish's. read more

I love Asian fusion brunch places. We got here around 1pm with a group of four. You do need have the whole party to be seated. There was a small line you have to wait outside and the chairs inside is very limited in waiting. There is a small parking lot next door but it gets filled pretty quickly so you have to find street parking. The restaurant is a little small but plenty of seating. The host told us she was waiting for a table to open up and be cleaned. We got seated around 1:30pm. We got the Thai tea French toast and carbonara udon. We got our food pretty quickly. Everything was really tasty. The French toast was perfect and the thai tea syrup was good. I was scared it was gonna be too sweet but it was the right amount. The carbonara udon was also very delicious. It came with an egg, cheese and bacon bites which was great savory taste. They came around to fill our waters a lot. The place is clean and modern looking. They even had cute pop mart collections as decorations. The only thing was weird that my boyfriend paid the check with cash and they didn't back with change. I guess they assumed the rest was tip? Taste & Glory continues to impress. This was my second visit, and this time I brought a group of friends along to experience it, and they absolutely loved it just as much as I did. The place has a great atmosphere: lively, welcoming, and always buzzing with people, which says a lot about its popularity. Despite being packed, the service remains consistently good, friendly, attentive, and efficient without feeling rushed. What really stands out is the food. Every dish is beautifully presented, almost too pretty to eat, and the flavors definitely live up to the visuals. Everything we tried was fresh, delicious, and clearly made with care. We went for a late lunch and had a short wait in line. It's always busy but the servers are fast and super nice. I love their menu, lots of food and drink options that are tasty and beautifully presented. I had 2 eggs for breakfast so I opted for a chicken breast sandwich. I was expecting something dry and not tasty, wrong, wrong! The ciabatta was soft and tender, the grilled chicken breast was flavorful, and the sauce and veggies gave the sandwich crunch and juiciness. Well done! My first half was perfect but the second half of the sandwich was a little bit short on chicken. The other photo of 2 eggs is from a previous visit. We were looking for an asian fusion brunch spot in the area since we were running some morning errands in San Mateo. Brunch places like these seem to be a dying breed in the area, but Taste and Glory really hits the spot. We were able to be seated immediately when we came in around 9am. Beautiful/cute decor with comfy seating that is not too crowded. We were able to get one of the seats/benches next to the window. We got the Tom Yum Scramble, the Veggie Omelette, and the Creme brulee French toast. I really enjoyed the scramble, the tom yum sauce was not so heavy that it overpowers the delicate taste of crab. The croissant that the scramble came on top of was also perfectly toasted. The creme brulee was savory, fluffy, and sweet without being too cloyingly sweet. My partner liked her veggie omelette with the sweet potato puffs. Overall delicious food with a comfy ambiance, it was a fantastic way to get our morning started! read more

First time at this restaurant lunchtime on a Saturday. There's always long lines but got lucky; only took 20 minutes to get seated. A Thai-American inspired spot with light, refreshing food and drinks. We tried the Dungeness omelette, tom yum scramble, and yuzu lemonade. Everything was flavorful and well-balanced. The place itself is cute and very Instagrammable, making it a great spot to hang out and enjoy a good meal. I'd definitely come back to try more of their dishes! read more

Taste and Glory focuses on breakfast and brunch with a Thai style cuisine bent. The restaurant often has a line especially on the weekends but the line goes fairly quickly. The interior is modern and clean. Service is efficient and friendly. They offer a variety of exotic drinks like Iced Ube, Blue Butterly, and Yuzu Lemonade. The Iced Ube seems especially popular as I saw a number of other customers order it. Since I am in a Thai restaurant, I decided to order the Thai Iced Tea. The iced tea had a solid tea taste and slight sweetness. I've been to Bangkok and had my share of Thai Iced Tea drinks, so I can vouch that this tea is comparable to what I've had in Thailand. For brunch, we ordered the Chicken Croffle and the Ocean. The Chicken Croffle comes with a croissant waffle which is noticeably fluffier than a traditional waffle. The chicken is crispy with a medium thick batter though the chicken is a little dry. I would have preferred chicken thigh over chicken breast. It does come with a mildly spicy dipping sauce which enhances the flavor of the chicken. The Ocean is an egg scramble with garlic shrimp and some stir fry vegetables. Pretty standard affair with many other scrambles at other restaurants but still a solid choice especially if you like garlic shrimp. read more
Great popular brunch spot in San Mateo. We came around noon on a Sunday and the wait was ~15-20 mins. There was a small parking lot behind the restaurant and it wasn't hard to find street parking nearby. The staff were really friendly, came to check on our table often and refilled our waters. In terms of food, my favorite was the Chicken Croffle. The chicken was nice and juicy with a crispy Biscoff crust. We also ordered the Chipotle Benedict and Crab Omelette. I appreciated how generous they were with the crab, there was a ton of crab meat and the omelette had a lot of flavor. The California burger was okay, nothing special. I'm not sure why pets are allowed in places where food is being served. Not everyone wants to dine with dogs. It's not sanitary at all, considering dogs are known to shake off, which could spread dander and hair in patrons food. The food was good, but this is unacceptable. I don't choose to come out of my home, and go to an establishment, to pay to eat and have to sit/eat next to an animal. This is NOT ok. read more

This spot is a-ok. It's a great play on the traditional all American breakfast with an Asian spin. I like that there's parking and an entrance in back. It makes this place easy to get to. This place is busy. S E R V I C E Service was efficient. Food arrived on time. Water was refilled frequently. The gave us a large table enough to fit a stroller and three high chairs if needed. F O O D Udon carbonara was an interesting take on carbonara. It was great to see the egg pasta noodle challenged with udon. The dishes are pretty expensive though, but maybe those are just Bay area prices in general more. I'd probably come back to try their french toast or pancakes. read more

Not really. They're usually packed and can get quite loud with a full house. Really good food to fuel up for studying though!
