So far my fav drink is the Strawberry milk tea (medium sweetness and less ice). It's super yummy and their boba was just the right amount of chewy texture and sweetness. We also tried their matcha thai tea, original milk tea, peach me sweetea, and bootea shaker (all were good drinks) but the Strawberry milk tea is still on the top for me. If I'm going to be spending over $5 bucks for boba these days (why is boba so expensive now? :/) I'm going for the Strawberry milk tea. read more

Quality seems to be going down. I order ahead on my phone to avoid any wrong ingredients in my drink, and I still seem to receive incorrect toppings added to identical drinks. We've been going here since they opened because it's right down the street from us. Drinks are still delicious, chicken is good despite the smaller size. However the quality of customer service has gone significantly down. On two occasions the staff has not just been unfriendly, but quite rude. Not sure if it's just how the younger folks are now or if that's the environment of the store. Regardless of the reason, it's been off putting and quite unacceptable. The first incident, I thought the girl with the extreme eyeliner was quite rude, but I kept it to myself. The customer behind me actually got upset as well but voiced her opinion and told the guy who said he was the store manager of her rude service. I gave this place another try, however the 2nd time it was a guy that provided an unwelcoming atmosphere as well. It was a good run however I won't be returning to this location. Drinks are amazing and reasonably priced. Food is a scam and should be avoided. Tastea use to have great food and great quantity. Food is now the opposite, portions are the smallest I've seen in the boba game and actually the priciest. At T4 its ~$8 , as of this review, its $11 at Tastea. This Tastea is wedged in between Heypot and Dental Care in the same plaza as Cha Cha Sushi & 85 Bakery off of Capitol Expressway. We saw this Tastea randomly after having a late lunch at Cha Cha Sushi. Expectations were pretty high, because I've never been to a "bad" Tastea but this specific location did not hold up. :( Walking in, it's decor and setup was just like any other Tastea. It was clean and spacious with its high ceilings but the drinks themselves weren't that great. I asked for extra sweet on both my orders but they both tasted watered down. I ordered... MATCHA THAI TEA 20oz $4.85 -I took a sip and it didn't taste like the matcha thai teas I've had before. It honestly tasted like regular milk tea with a hint of matcha. Don't know if that was just me.. AVOCADO AVALANCHE 20oz $5.25 *subject to market price* -made with fresh avocados. This was super icy. It didn't have the creamy consistency I'm accustomed too..and wasn't sweet. Like other locations, order at the cashier and they have a small waiting area for this who want to just order and go or you can dine-in and hang out! I'd only give three stars if I were to only review the drinks from Tastea. But regard to the small bites, I can give four stars. The best of all is the butter fries with the shrimps follow. The small bites are not available at all locations, so I highly recommend you to try it out when you run into one. There are four spicy levels. Ordered the peach tea and jasmine milk tea. Love their honey boba -- slightly sweet and amply chewy. Drinks came out fast. Parking was slightly difficult to find as the Aqui's next door was bumpin. One of the best boba places I have recently found. The staff was super friendly, got greeted by 3 people as I walked in and they explained the whole menu to me and the most popular drinks. I ordered a strawberry peach iced tea to try and it was amazing!!! I was scared it would be to sweet but it was a perfect level. The second time I got a lychee iced tea and that was a little to sweet for me but they were nice enough to re make it for me with less sweetener. Also sampled the Thai tea and it was really good. I am a frequent customer, usually ordering through the app in San Diego. This was my first visit to this location. So disappointed to have ordered a large Karate Chicken, open the bag and find it only half full. It wasn't enough to satisfy, so I ordered another ...and unfortunately AGAIN, half full. At over $12ea after tax...definitely a profit for the store. I brought the second order back to show what they were giving me. In fairness, the girl at the counter agreed it should be full and volunteered to make another. This was a good solution IMO, as I'd spent $50 total with them during this visit. While I was waiting for the 3rd order to be made, a customer came up to pick up their drink order: two coffees (one medium, one large). The med cup was filled to the top, the large was about 2-3" from the top. Customer removed the lid and kindly asked if they could "top it off", to which he was told "No, sorry. We don't top off our coffee". I was shocked and felt bad for the guy. It's really too bad they want to skimp customers... Worst part, upset stomachs for all within 20 min. Bummer. read more

So excited that Tastea is finally closer to me! The plaza that the shop is in has filled up super fast with parking due to the popular restaurants right next door so it's a little hard to find a spot on a busy Friday or Saturday night now, but other than that, at least there's usually a light wait once you get inside. The flavors are consistent across all of the Tastea locations and this one is no exception. The only issue with the drinks that I've encountered is that they have difficulties getting my drink exactly right every time that I order (messed up four out of five visits already) since I usually get the lychee freeze and swap out lychee bits for honey boba. Sometimes I'll still get the lychee bits with honey boba added, and sometimes I'll get the honey boba with no lychee jelly. Other than that, not a big deal and I've been happily coming back for all my Tastea drink needs. read more

I've actually never had Tastea before, so this was my first time. I ordered Honeydew Milk Tea with Egg Pudding, and it was so good. I think it's the best Honeydew Milk Tea I've ever tried. It was not too sweet but not too flavorless. It was perfect! Topping it off with Egg Pudding was a good decision too. The inside of the store was very neat and clean. Service was good as well! Tastea is only a short drive away from our place, so my wife and I stop by for boba and snacks on the regular. Or at least once every couple weeks. Still haven't found my fav drink yet, but the Karate Chicken is our go-to snack--'On Fire' spice level, cuz it goes perfect with milk tea. I've had Tastea previously in SoCal, so I was excited to see they opened one here at Communication Hill. I've gotten strictly their teas in the past, but decided to venture into other categories at my most recent visit. The drinks: + matcha coffee, 25% sweetness. Let me start by saying this is one of my favorite drinks ever. And I don't say that lightly. I loved the matcha flavor on the bottom; it was very prominent but not overpowering. The coffee on top was strong and not at all sweet, so it balanced the matcha flavor quite well. Mixed together and you have an amazing drink. I'm so glad I ordered this, especially since it's like getting two drinks in one! + Vietnamese coffee with honey boba and 0% sweetness for him. This was pretty good, too! Coffee flavor was strong, just how we both like it. I must say that between this and the matcha coffee, I prefer the matcha coffee more but I'm also biased because I looooove matcha everything. *note that add ons are an extra 70 cents* The decor: Super cute inside, but not very many tables. Love coming to this place for boba. Their boba is always consistently soft whenever I go. Never disappointed with that. Service is quick and friendly. My favorite drink here is the watermelon slush during the summer. But typically I go with the peache lychee drink or the lychee slush since it's so refreshing. The largest size is pretty worth it for those who can drink a lot, which is pretty worth it to me. The boba is green boba but it's much different from black boba, just coloring.honey boba is a lot sweeter than their regular boba so choose wisely. read more
