I've ordered the Ube Halo Halo from here several times before, and it always came with ube ice cream on top. Today, I ordered 3 Ube Halo Halo, and none of them had the ube ice cream. When I asked the lady at the counter where the ice cream was, she told me it was in the middle instead of on top. After getting home and mixing all 3, there was no ube ice cream at all. I've always loved the drinks here. I usually get the Bambu favorite which is coconut milk, red tapioca, grass jelly, and pandan jelly. It's an easy 5/5 for me! I'm not the biggest red tapioca girlie, so I ask to substitute it and they let me at no additional cost. I opted for boba instead. The drink is always so refreshing and the perfect treat on a hot day. Lots of flavor and love the chewiness from the toppings. My husband got the Vietnamese coffee and it's so strong and full of flavor. He was a happy camper. On the other hand, their pandan waffle is just okay. Texture was off. Definitely better ones at other spots and probably wouldn't order it again here. But 100% will always be back for a drink! read more

First time at this Bambu spot in East San Jose. Parking lot was easy to navigate, even on a busy afternoon. Cozy little shop with limited indoor seating, but quick service kept the line moving. Salted Caramel Coffee (5/5): Perfectly balanced sweet-salty vibe, not too heavy on the syrup. Went with the regular size and it was plenty--smooth, refreshing, and strong but no jitters. I saved half for another serving so I can sleep at night. Bambu Special (4/5): Loaded with pandan jelly, coconut shreds, red and green beans, and that signature chewy texture. Solid mix of flavors, though I could've used a touch more coconut water or coconut milk. The excessive ice allowed it to be watered down. Great for sharing or satisfying a dessert craving! Always a good combination of various beans and flavors. I love coming to Bambu whenever I'm craving che. Service has always been really good. The workers are very friendly and our orders come out super fast. My go-to would have to be the Bambu Favorite ($8.50). It has coconut milk with red tapioca, pandan jelly, and grass jelly. So so so good! I don't know why I choose to go farther when there's a Bambu not far from my home within a 10 minute drive! Moving forward, this will be the only location I go to for my mom's che cravings! If you want to try Vietnamese che, I recommend going for the #10 or che ba mau (Vietnamese tri colored dessert). It seems to be the buzz anytime I stop by here to get something for my mom. As for me, I am not a fan of che because I don't enjoy coconut milk so much, so I'm a huge fan of fruity drinks! However, I'm in love with #11. A nice blend of coconut juice, pandan jelly, basil seeds, and longan. A perfect summer drink for the hot weather plaguing San Jose these days. This location is small but they have a few tables inside if you're looking to sit and enjoy your dessert. They recently redid the decor as well. I almost always get #10 the Bambu Favorite--I guess it's called the favorite for a reason! It's so good with the perfect amount of creaminess from the coconut milk and QQ from all of the jelly. My family also really likes the smashed avocado one. They have a lot of other options including coffee and smoothies as well. Che is good but not great as it was before, but service is ungodly slow and unwelcoming to help but they still help. I don't expect less from a Vietnamese own shop lol that's like a welcoming on its own in their own way. We waited about 15ish minutes for 4 cups of che (all the same) but the man behind us who ordered 8 (all the same as us), got his order first. So we're like ??? On a separate order after we got our che, I ordered a plain rau ma with coconut juice and white boba added in it. They added it with mung bean and no white boba, only to complain about it and they just scooped in the white boba and didn't remake it without the mung beans. The gal didn't seem willing to help so I just dealt with it. Then on another occasion, we came back to order che again and then just a scoop of white boba in a separate cup for my kiddos. We were willing to pay and we did, but the gal just looked so "over it." I don't know why but the che just tasted watered down even though we got the ice separate on both occasions. read more

I have been visiting this location for a quite some time now, and I've never had a problem with staff or waiting time. Their staff are pretty kind and quick with getting drinks out (especially on hot SJ days). The store itself is quite small, BUT there's plenty of parking in their private lot and you're able to order ahead through their website/ calling in your order. I prefer this location for its cleanliness and efficiency over the other locations, but it's also the closest to home lmfao. OKAY THE DRINKS/ DESSERTS: I highly recommend their smashed avocado (Bo dam) dessert if you're wanting to try a GOOD Vietnamese dessert, but you truly can't go wrong with a good Three color combination (che ba mau). They also have some pretty good and refreshing drinks - I usually go for their fruit teas sine there's fresh fruit chunks in them (fruit chunks depend on what type of drink you get i.e., peach tea, strawberry tea, mango tea, etc.). read more

My family and I frequent this bambu a lot throughout the years. With the recent change in ownership I think it's one of the better bambus in the area. They also accept apple pay now which is super convenient. The desserts and drinks are pretty high quality and good for the price. Theres a huge selection to choose from but I usually stick with my safe choice and get #10 which is a combination of various jellies while older folks in my family usually get #2. If you're doing takeout you can request for ice on the side so it doesn't melt in the drink. Outside of che I also recommend the yogurt smoothies - theyre a perfect blend of tart and sweetness! read more

I went there and got four drinks, they're all good except for one. The one they messed up on was the red bean and taro. What they did wrong was mess up the taro and red bean ratio, there was a significant amount of taro compared to the red bean and took up most of the space. Naturally, the name red bean AND taro made me assume that there would be roughly half of both ingredients, and I know that no one is perfect but there was just too much taro. I wasn't very upset until I asked them to remake my drink because of their customer satisfaction policy. They refused and only offered to make half of the drink, but there was no fine text on their policy that said they wouldn't make a full cup. When I insisted for a full cup, they demanded that I paid when that also went against their own policy. Their customer service was horrendous and left me unsatisfied. When they finally made my drink, the cup was dirty and I gotten glares from one of the two workers at the front. read more

Che - 3/5 I keep coming back here for their red-bean che with coconut milk. Then I fell in love with their smashed avocado with condensed milk, resulting in me sending my husband to go get me some. I was heartbroken when he came back with the order looking as offensive as the attached picture! Whoever was working in the evening of 7/4/24 should be taught that shoving an avocado into a cup is the only thing needed to make your supposedly "smashed avocado". I read that there's apparently new management and that the drinks are great now. We decided to give the place a chance. My husband ordered #2 Bambu combo without rainbow jellies and added boba. It was actually really good. Love that they use fresh Thai young coconut water & meat. It all tasted really good and it was refreshing. But yummy pineapple and tasted like coconut cream. 4.5/5 Because my husbands drinks were good I went and ordered #1 Bambu special but it tasted so off. I was expecting it to be very different. The pandan jelly had zero taste of pandan. Not even a hint of pandan but the pandan jelly tasted honestly like smoked deli meat. Like ham. It was so weird. So it made the entire overall flavor of the drink taste like that. 1/5. They mentioned the pandan jelly was just cooked. Ive bought pandan leaves and know what pandan is supposed to smell and taste like. I grew up with my mom using pandan flavoring in desserts. I texted her my order, che suong sau hat luu (number 4 on the menu), and a che trai cay (number 6 on the menu) for my brother.
