Experienced a full circle moment at the soft opening tonight. My first introduction to Tasty Pot was from the owners themselves and it makes me so happy to be able to support them opening one of their own! There was so many little things that took me by surprise. For example, the glass cups lit up and already had Reno branding on them. My past dine-in at a long-standing Sacramento location still served plastic cups- so I love that they executed this little detail. The restaurant was definitely booked and busy- but so worth the extra wait time on top of our quoted estimate. The quality of the food and drinks really set the bar. And I love that Reno FINALLY has good hot pot. We had a group of 11 and all of our dishes hit the mark. With a 12 pot menu, we almost got to try every option! Pictured is the kimchi dumpling soup- but some of the pot table favorites were the lamb, curry, veggie, and Taiwanese spicy supreme. The boba was soft and bouncy and I could tell the seal top was of higher quality. Price point is insanely good considering the portion sizes and the variety of ingredients included within your meal. Pots range from $19-26; but right now for the soft opening, they are offering either a free boba drink with the purchase of a pot, or buy one pot get the other one 50% off. (Which is insane??? SUCH A GOOD PROMO) Overall a 10/10 experience and we will definitely be returning soon! read more

This is a nice surprise in the Sticks Center in Midtown. The hot soups menu and hibachi grill were very intriguing and we could not decide. My husband settled on the Seafood Lobster Hot Soup and I ordered the filet mignon and Lobster hibachi. I should note that both come with a side of white rice as it did not appear to be indicated on the menu, but I may have missed that. So that is nice. The soup came out first and was incredibly hot, so be careful with your first slurp! There is a latch at the bottom to turn the heat down, so it might be good to turn it down when you get it to your table as it will continue to heat your soup up. My hibachi came with the Lobster already chopped and cooked and nestled in the Lobster shell as well as the filet mignon and vegetables presented in nice bite size pieces. There are nice oils and spices on the side to add to your meal if you desire. I think the filet mignon was delicious in the mixture of oils and spices I made up and the Lobster was very good with the sauce provided. I finished everything. My husband could not finish all of the seafood (there was a nice surprise of all kinds of different seafoods) - we think it is a must try if you enjoy seafood. Overall, we would like to come back again, but definitely on a weekday or weeknight because parking can be a bit difficult to find sometimes on the weekends. read more

My expectations were pretty slim since a lot of the hot pot places in Reno are just meh but right when we got seated I knew that this place was it. First thing I enjoyed walking into this place was the music! They were playing early 2000s R&B! The hot pot was delicious!!! I got the seafood hot pot, thai flavor, they explained that thai would make it have more of a tangy flavor. It did not disappoint! We could've easily ordered 1 to share. I forgot to take photos, but I enjoyed my first meal at Tasty Pot! I've been interested in trying it since I attended the Yelp Reno Food Crawl earlier this year. At the food crawl I sampled the popcorn chicken and the friend rice and I knew I wanted to come back. The place was pretty quiet around 6 o'clock on a Friday but two large parties showed up around 7pm. I started with the popcorn chicken and it did not disappoint! In my opinion, the seasoning used on the chicken is to. die. for. I ordered the chicken and filet hibachi combo (I've never had hot pot and wasn't feeling adventurous) and it was delicious! The chicken, filet (requested medium rare) and vegetables were flavorful and cooked perfectly. I upgraded to fried rice and the upcharge ($5) was a little steep in my opinion. It was a good serving though- I saved half for leftovers. My friend got the Japanese Miso hot pot and it had just about everything you could imagine in it. It was also a huge serving so they were able to take some home. As far as I know, this place is pretty new so there are some kinks to be worked out with the service but everyone was attentive and helpful. Very surprised to find this chain in the Reno area! Did a quick yelp search while I was in the area and found out they had newly opened, as most of the locations I've been to are located in California. Had a party of 8 and the whole staff was super patient and super friendly with us! They were super attentive and always came around to refill our waters and checked on us the whole time. Great for lunch, but usually packed at lunchtime so either come early or later. They do close after lunch and reopen at dinner. Soup flavors vary but my actual favorite is a side dish...their lemon pepper chicken. Service can sometimes be slow especially during lunch. read more

Tasty pot is a hotpot experience you can easily have at home. The protein they put in your soup is minimal and the overall feel of the portions are that they are trying to give you as little as possible but with a lot of toppings to make you feel like you are getting a bang for your buck. I get it, it's business, but the portions just personally don't feel like a lot. However, the service was on point and that's all my stars are for. ALL of the staff was so friendly and very accommodating to your allergies, needs, etc. It's not the best hotpot but its a decent spot, just not something worth the money in my opinion. This place was really good. We Loved that we could mix and match the soups and the items in the same price group. We had 5 different soups. All had great flavor. Best way to eat your soup is put it in a little bowl so it will cool down. The popcorn chicken was amazing it was dark meat and it was lightly breaded flavored really well and not dry. The mix grill was to die for. The drinks were fabulous forgot what we ordered. Also found out this is a family business which I love. I'm really glad there's a decent hotpot place in Reno now! Their flavors are great, and the service is quick and friendly. The inside is also new and quite clean. As for the food, I don't prefer to have pre-made hotpot (I like ayce), but I still like the menu. The appetizers and boba are solid too. I can eat pretty good, but I'd still suggest sharing these hotpots; it's just way too much for one person unless you like taking hotpot leftovers home. Overall, it's not the best I've ever had but I'd still recommend, and I think it's a great intro to hotpot if you haven't had any! read more

Tasty pot is a welcome addition to the midtown food scene! It's located in the sticks shopping center. Parking can be tough during peak hours, but not too bad. The restaurant is spacious and the service is great. I made reservations and we were seated right away. The menu has lots of choices. They serve Taiwanese hot pot, appetizers, boba drinks and more. We started off with the calamari which was seasoned really well. No sauce needed! I also ordered an avocado boba smoothie that was sweet and creamy! It was refreshing to sip on while eating the spicy soup. For my hot pot, I got the Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup. I chose medium heat and I found it to be spicy enough. The broth was delicious! It was flavorful and balanced and all the mix ins make almost every bite unique. The bone marrow and enoki mushrooms were my favorite! I got instant noodles because I prefer the thickness and texture over vermicelli or udon. We also tried the lamb hot pot which was not as flavorful, but still good. The strawberry milk boba was also delicious and tasted like real strawberries! I look forward to going back and trying more of the menu! This is a W for the Reno food scene. read more

The food here is great but nothing extraordinary, but the service has noticeably declined on my last few visits. Yesterday, I placed an order and even waited an additional 15-20 minutes past the scheduled "ready by" time before coming in, just in case they were busy. When I arrived, it was a bit busy but not crowded, and both the server and (what I assume was) the manager made eye contact with me as I got to the counter but did not approach to see if I needed assistance. Instead, they continued helping other tables. I ended up standing there for nearly 10 minutes, feeling uncomfortable as everyone could see I was waiting but no one had acknowledged me. When the server finally came near, I had to stop him to let him know I was there for my order -- and I mentioned I was in a rush. At that point, I learned my order wasn't even ready, so I had to wait even longer. No one apologized for the delay or inconvenience, if anything, it felt as though I was inconveniencing them. With my families love of Southeast Asian cuisine, we had to try Tasty Pot. I haven't tried the chain out before, so this was my first experience with the company. I'm so glad they came to Reno! We went while they were just barely open, so there are a few kinks to work out still. We did get left in seating purgatory for a while, but I could see they were trying, and I expect that this will work itself out in the future. The decor is modern, and they add a touch of fun with light up drinking cups and upbeat music. The food is where they stand out. Everyone enjoyed their food. The sizzling beef with udon was so tasty and satisfied our pickiest eater. The lamb got put was fantastic worth a flavorful broth that my son loved. The Thai style put with beef had my father in law teaching and declaring the place as his new favorite Asian restaurant. My wife and I shared (the portions were huge) the lobster hot pot. She can't handle spice, so we had it without. It was still Idris flavorful, and they did not skimp on the seafood. We all left full and in line with the place. read more

So excited to have a Tasty Pot in Reno! I'll get my one complaint out of the way first. They really need a better system of seating people when they're busy. When we came in we were the only ones waiting for a table. We were assured they were cleaning the one by the register up for us and to please wait to the side. We did and then two more parties arrived. When the first party was sat at the empty table and they took the name of the second party I walked up to the counter and reminded them that we had been there first. The girl was a little rude and informed us that she "just needed to know who walked in the door first" to which all of us said that we had and she acted annoyed and like we were trying to cut in line. Not the best intro but good food can cover a multitude of sins right? Well, the service picked up the rest of the evening and everyone else was super friendly. We ordered the Lamb Hot Soup (so full of spicy,lamb goodness absolutely would order again), Sichuan Flavor Hot Soup (delicious, full of seafood and yummy goodies), Seafood Hot soup (creamy broth and the most amazing fish you ever did taste in soup) and the Beef with Udon Noodles (beef cooks in the metal bowl, tender noodles and amazing sauce). The food was stellar! Also ordered some milk tea that was better than anything else in town. We will absolutely come back and chock up the early problems as growing pains. First time tying this place out, it's not bad, a lot of food and broth for the price. I went here with my wife, we both ordered a bowl, she had the beef broth bowl, she mentioned it was kinda dull, I didn't try it, I told her to try adding the side sauce and maybe I'll be better, she said it helped a lot. Service was great, everyone there was super attentive, answered all the questions we had about the menu. Ambiance was okay they have a lot of windows for natural light and they played upbeat music!! I think the only down side to this place is if I brought my kids I wouldn't know what to get them as I didn't see a kids section or really any options besides takoyaki or crispy basil chicken bites. I was pretty excited to get another hot pot in town, this one with individual hot pots, allowing us to try different soups. This is my first try at the Tasty Pot chain, although I've had individual hot pot once in California many years ago. Expect a large portion in a stand served with a flame to keep your soup simmering the whole time. From the menu, we select a soup style with specified ingredients, spice level (1-5), and carb (rice, vermicelli, or instant noodle). We were able to exclude certain ingredients, as per individual tastes. For appetizer, we had the calamari, which had lovely salt, pepper, unami flavor. But the squid was chewier than I prefer. There are 4 dipping sauces to add more flavor to appetizer or soups: chili oil, soy bean paste, garlic soy, and a spicy dry powder. My family tried the following soups: Taiwanese Supreme, Curry, Kimchi Dumpling, Cheesy Milk, and Lamb. I personally had the Cheesy Milk and had samples of the others. Although they look similar when served and had some overlapping ingredients, the soups are very different tasting. The Cheesy Milk was richer than the others, but very tasty. I enjoyed the variety of ingredients in the soup. The meat was tender in all. General criticism was too much napa cabbage. We opted not to try any boba this time. Cost for party of 6 was ~$160 before tip. Ambiance is a modern restaurant with large tables. Service is good, quick to order, quick to get food, attended us appropriately. We dined Saturday at noon, and it was not crowded. Overall, the family enjoyed the meal but didn't like it more than a group hot pot. I enjoyed it more than they and would love to return for more, so I gave 5 stars. read more

First off we started with the boba, wasn't really a fan of it. Got the rainbow one with strawberry boba. It didn't have too much taste to it. I got the kimchi hot pot with noodles and it was very tasty! The only think I didn't like was there wasn't enough room to put my noodles in it and cook it. They give you raw noodles in the side...I don't get it I had to finish half my pot before the noodles started to cook. read more
