We all got something different, we ordered things outside our comfort zone. We ordered appetizers (popcorn chicken and calamari). Very good! We ordered a couple of pots and a hibachi shrimp and filet mignon plate for my son. All the food was beyond delicious. The table was silent, no talking when food is bomb! First time at this location. Daughter called to see if they can accommodate 30 people for lunch and they said yes. They had asked what was the occasion and she told them it was for graduation. When we arrived they personally had decorated the area with balloons. This was a very sweet gesture of them. We were seated right away. All staff were professional and friendly. Service was great. Foods and drinks were delicious (didn't get photo of all of the foods since there's too many ). The place was clean and neat. Came in on a weekday afternoon, so it wasn't busy at all. I've been to Tasty Pot in San Francisco, so I was familiar with their food. I ordered the beef hot pot mild with rice. It was very flavorful. It does have a bit of a fishy seafoody flavor because they do add seafood, so if you're not a fan of seafood, you might not like this place. I enjoyed my meal. It pairs well with rice and they give a bit of noodles with the beef hot pot anyways. It is a good portion size and so I had leftovers. It costs about $25 with tax and tip. I would comeback. I'm glad there is somewhere in Reno where you can get some hot pot, even if it isn't an ayce cooking yourself place. read more

I was so excited when I learned that there was a hot pot restaurant in Midtown. This place has a lot of seating inside and kid friendly. We ordered Popcorn Basil Chicken, Beef Hot Pot and Lamb Hot Pot. Highly recommend ordering it with a medium heat. Second visit on a Wednesday evening. Sadly it was a far cry from last weeks visit. I ordered the stinky tofu pot along w popcorn chicken. Pot came out not even boiling, just a bit over warm. You'd think a pot w TOFU in the name would be loaded w some tofu. No, there was ONE piece of tofu. I complained so they put a couple more pieces in. One piece was half frozen. Really the whole pot was skimped on. One quail egg, 2 clams, one sausage. Popcorn chicken wasn't very crispy or anything. Asked the person that brought the food out to see the manager, too bad he didn't speak any English at all, so I talked to a server about the issues. So didn't expect to be impressed by hot pot as it's something we do at home too (in fact just this past weekend) but I sure was! And about time, Reno have one. I love that they have plenty of options- 12 and even with the veggie option, you could chose from original, tomato, and Thai. I chose the Thai broth and it was perfection! Plenty of flavor and I love my soup sour. The hot pot came with more than plenty and a huge variety of ingredients (carrots, bamboo, tofu, seaweed, cabbage, corn, enoki mushroom, tomato- just to name a few). They have a couple sauces if you want to dip - my favorite was the garlic one. Plus they can top off on your broth! They also have boba drinks. Their water cups light up, which is kinda cool. It was their soft opening so super busy but worth the hour wait. And even though staff were scrambling around, they checked in on us. Angie was wonderful and had such a positive attitude! I have been waiting for this place to open for MONTHS! I LOVE Tasty Pot and have been waiting for something like it to open in Reno. When I first saw they're putting a Tasty Pot last year, I would frequently check the Tasty Pot website to check when they would open haha. AND THEN! I saw that my favorite boba shop (Boba T) was closing because they're going to be collaborating with Tasty Pot, I got even more excited. Tonight was the soft opening, waited 1 hr for a table, orders taken after 15 minutes, and food was out after 30 minutes. Honestly, if you take out the long wait (given it was soft opening), everything happened pretty quickly. The host also thought we were part of another party and sat about 4 tables before us. It's okay though, that's why they run soft openings, right? Now with the hot pot and appetizers - it was delicious! My dad finished his whole hot pot, it's actually rare for him to ever finish his food bc he can get picky - that to me speaks volumes. & the boba is always good, can't complain! One thing to take note though, their "mild" option for spice can get a little more than mild spice lol. read more

Yummy! This place recently opened and my family decided to try it. Did not disappoint everything was super tasty and filling. The portion size is really plentiful with lots of meat and veggies. I ordered the Taiwanese supreme spicy hot pot. Was pretty spicy and was really tasty. There's also a sauce tray with chili sauce, garlic sauce , and soy bean paste. Husband and I went for soft opening and about a week after as well. So, 2 visits total. First Visit. Came out boiling hot. I got the Japanese Miso as I don't do spicy foods. Husband got the Taiwanese spicy. This is what I wanted to try and all in it sounded really good but was told they couldn't make it not spicy. You can choose between steamed rice and different noodles. I chose Udon. So much good. Very tasty. 2nd visit. I went with the Milk Cheddar. Was skeptical but was really good. The broth was perfect. Didn't come out boiling like the first visit, but I was ok with it. Husband ordered the stinky tofu. Was just warm and had like 1 tofu. He asked about it, they took his back and came back out after they added a couple more tofu. One of the tofu was still frozen. I'm soooo happy Tasty Pot made its way to Reno! First of all, it's clean and well decorated inside. The menu has just enough items and I love that it's customizable. We also got the popcorn chicken, which I forgot to take a photo of because it was so crispy, juicy and delicious. I got the Beef Hot Soup with medium spice. The broth was comforting, full of umami and had the right amount of saltiness. They really do fill it up with the meat and veggies - I had leftovers. My daughters were anticipating Tasty Pot's opening ever since we heard one was opening up in Reno, so when we saw they were having a soft opening night we had to go despite it being a Tuesday night. We got there around 7 and were told the wait would be about 30 minutes. The place was packed. We ended up waiting about an hour for our table. Once seated the service was quicker and since we had been to Tasty Pot before (in California) we were able to put in our order right away. We ordered the basil popcorn chicken for an appetizer, two orders of the cheesy hot soup and the Thai hot soup. Food arrived timely and was delicious! I highly recommend the #8 - Thai flavored hot soup. It has all the goodies, tender sliced pork, veggies, seafood, glass noodles and my daughters loved their #3 - cheesy milk hot soup. Definitely worth the wait and satisfied our hot pot craving. Note also that they refill your soup with more broth upon request. My daughter also got a brown sugar boba drink and she was quite impressed, she said it was the perfect sweetness and the boba pearls were so good and perfectly chewy. I can only imagine how busy this place will get on the weekends, so plan accordingly. Parking is a little tough, you may have to circle around to find street parking, and there likely will be a wait for a table, but all worth it. Food is delicious and the service was better than expected for a soft opening. My daughters are already looking forward to eating here again, so needless to say, I expect we will frequent this place often to satisfy our hot pot cravings. read more

We stumbled across yelps best restaurants on instagram post and decided to try this spot because we love hot pot, but had never tried Taiwanese style. The service was great, recommendations were on point, and the ambiance was perfect! I had the number 7. Be aware spice is spice so if you are not sure just ask for no spice .. there are spices on the table you can mix in. My favorite was mixing soy garlic sauce, chili paste, and chili powder . My son had the miso based soup with udon and he was not disappointed!my husband tried the hibachi and it was ok. We also had hot sake . Parking is street so be prepared to drive around. read more

‼RENO HAS HOT POT!‼ Tasty Pot has become one of my favorite places to visit since they've opened. The servers are super accommodating and friendly, the dishes can be modified how you like, and their menu just got bigger! I recently stopped by for Reno's first All Time Top 100 Food Crawl, where they were serving samples of their popcorn chicken and hibachi chicken fried rice. Even though the samples were small, they were packed with lots of flavor. I usually accompany my hot pot dish or noodle dish with a boba drink. I've tried several drinks from their menu, but my favorites would be their Jasmine Milk Tea, Thai Tea, Tropical Tea, or Strawberry Milk. I especially like to go for lunch, where they have complimentary green or black tea. To my surprise, these drinks are always super refreshing! They're served iced and sweetened a little bit. They pair well with any savory dish you choose. The restaurant is clean and spacious. It's decorated with propagated plants on wall shelves and the space receives a lot of natural light. To my fellow millennials who still keep their 90s-10s playlists in rotation, there's likely some r&b or throwback music playing in the background. And to those millennials and gen zers who love Disney, Disney+ is likely playing on their large TV. (I enjoyed my last meal there with High School Musical playing in the background haha) To sum it up, the ambience is a great vibe overall. 10/10 I'm surely visiting again. Stopped by last weekend for lunch with some girlfriends and loved it! I got the #7--the kimchi dumpling hot soup with vermicelli noodles--and it was so good. The soup came out boiling hot and super flavorful, with crunchy kimchi, tender pork, and tasty dumplings. I thought it was awesome that they walked around and refilled the broth too. I'm happy to see this hot pot restaurant made its way to Reno! We went during the soft opening. Since it is in midtown, we were worried that the space is going to be small and cramped. It is actually spacious! It definitely can host bigger parties. Our server was friendly and attentive. She constantly checked on us. There were many options of personal hot pot and we got #1 and #9, which is the beef one and the Taiwanese supreme one. They both tasted great! The soup base was flavorful. The beef one already comes with ramen noodles so the pot itself is bigger than the Taiwanese one, which comes with glass noodles instead. They offer complimentary tea during lunch time and the tea is contained in glasses with lights on the bottom - kinda cool for kids. The appetizer takoyaki was okay though. The flour was a bit thick and it was lacking the bonito flakes. They do have boba tea but we didn't try it so can't comment on them. Will definitely come back for more! read more

The Boss and I participated in the Yelp Top 100 Food Crawl through Midtown Reno today. Even though we ate lots of great food, by the time we were done walking all over Midtown, we were definitely looking for dinner. Fortunately, we'd narrowed it down to two of our favorite spots of the day. Even better, one of them was close to the end of our route. Earlier, we'd stopped by Tasty Pot where we were treated to a taste of their Basil Popcorn Chicken and a bit of their fried rice. Both of which were fantastic. So good, in fact, we decided to go back for more. The atmosphere is typical of the places in Midtown. That is not to say it is boring. The space is clean and well-lit without being too bright. The staff is gracious and welcoming. We looked over the menu and it just got better and better. There are lots of varieties of bowls with different flavor profiles - each one sounding better than the last. What we really wanted, though, was more of that chicken and some fried rice. We ordered up the Basil Popcorn Chicken (spicy this time!) and the combination fried rice with pork, shrimp, filet mignon, and big pieces of crunchy vegetables. We dressed it up with some of their garlic soy sauce and chili salt. It was the capper to a perfect day. We'll go back when we have a heartier appetite and explore the rest of the incredible menu, but for right now we are both well-fed and happy read more

Don't have to drive to Sacramento whenever we want to get some hotpot lol Anyway, checked in the restaurant with my wife in a late afternoon after running errands on a Saturday. The restaurant is located in a midtown Reno, parking is limited, so I would call in for reservation if you have bigger parties. The restaurant is spacious, servers are attentive, and most importantly the food is good. I ordered a stinky tofu and my wife ordered Taiwanese Supreme. We like both broth, but I like Taiwanese Supreme more, opened up my taste buds with different flavors in the soup. On the back of the menu, there are other appetizers and dessert drinks you can explore. Of course I ordered a brown sugar milk tea with boba. Yum! Menu is easy to go through. First choose the type of hotpot you want; second, choose the spicy level. I chose medium and I can eat spicy food, and the spicy level is just right; third, you have a choice of either getting rice or vermicelli on the side for your soup. We both went for vermicelli. Great to nestle in at Tasty Pot with boiling soup on a cold snowy day. It's a little tough to figure out which bowl to order. I thoroughly enjoyed the miso hot pot, but my husband felt the lobster hot pot lacked enough seasoning. Both of these are large pots and you definitely will take half of the bowl home as leftovers. The decor is pretty basic, and there is not one single piece of art or decor on the walls. I liked it quite a bit for lunch but I don't see it as a fancy dinner place at all. Some cabbage pieces were bitter, & the soup was lowkey bland but we were able to add more flavor with the soy bean sauce. Service - 5/5, everyone was friendly & great Ambiance - is whatever it looked like any other tasty pot location.
