Located off Story Rd on a tucked away corner. The weather was cold and wet outside .. the broth made you feel extra cozy. I really loved the endless refill of broth being poured into your personal electric stove. Although after the second or third refill the chicken stock broth took away the original flavor of my soup broth . The new flavor wasn't bad it was just more bland like watered down . Me and my friends came here to try the malatang and were pleasantly surprised! The malatang bar had a lots of vegetables and various meats such as lamb, pork, beef, and fatty beef. They didn't have a wide variety of noodles, but I didn't mind since I prefer udon noodles. They also had various kinds of fish balls. For my soup base I chose medium spice thai tom yum and it was the perfect amount of spicy. We came on a Tuesday night and there was lots of seating, so i'm not sure how busy the restaurant is on the weekends. Servers are attentive and will check on you throughout your meal! Update 12/5/24 but most recent experience was 12/1/24... decided to go after shopping, and invited 2 more friends to try it out as their preference is Boiling Point... Unfortunately, our entire experience this time was completely below our expectations when it came to actual service. The host was always friendly so I can never say anything about him, however, the following 3 servers attitudes and service just wasn't it. Maybe we came on a bad day. 1. We were seated far in the back so when we were looking to ask questions it took some time to have someone look at us. 2. When we were finally able to ask our questions in regards to one of our friends shellfish allergy. The good thing, apparently the broth doesn't contain shellfish. Nonetheless, my table and I still felt bad for our friend as we had to continuously check on him to make sure he's okay. It was more so due to the way the server responded without any confidence that made us concerned. 3. However the young gentleman server with round glasses shared information where, my BF and I were very shocked to learn that all the soup base is all Pork Broth. When we first came in, we were told that we could take anything from the first counter. But when a male staff saw us with a plate of food, he asked us with a very rude attitude "what makes you think these are for free if you get a regular?" "You can just ask us if you dont know?". Indulged in eating hot pot after a long day at the SJ Made Fair at History Park nearby. We walked a short distance to Tasty Pot and both ordered Beef Hot Pot. Their new malatang bar is not worth trying. The bowl that they use to weigh your ingredients is already heavy so you are already cheated by the grand total of bowl+ingredients. In addition, it seems that the kitchen only pours the soup base over the ingredients without even bothering to see if any of the contents were cooked. My noodles were overcooked and the fishballs were still cold in the center. I was only able to eat half of my $22.49 ridiculously overpriced bowl because I have to take the rest home to cook myself. Absolutely terrible service and malatang was a disgrace. My daughter had to ask a different staff member to help with our bill because it turns out that the female staff did NOT add any reward points to our balance this time. WARNING: BE CAUTIOUS OF SLIPPERY FLOOR!!! I could sue this store for tripping hazard without any warning sign! The floor was so slippery that the moment I stepped my foot onto the tiles, I immediately fell and hit my knee to the floor, my pinky finger also roughly contacted with the table while I was looking for something to hold on. My knee was bruised immediately and I could feel the pain when bending my leg. When I complained to the host he said this is common and he already notified the owner multiple times, but he doesn't seem to care. This is a hot pot place, with heavy and hot pots of soup being delivered from the kitchen out to tables, but the floor is super slippery that a customer can fall anytime. I was wearing my sport shoes which I used to hike with multiple times, I was not in any heels. I feel like the owner doesn't care for customers and their employers safety, instead of temporarily close the store for minor maintenance to fix this issue, they just ignore it, as long as they can run business with profit. I'm going to see my doctor next week, if I find anything off because of the fall, I will have to seek legal advice. read more

Visited Tasty Pot for lunch and we were promptly seated without any wait. I ordered the Thai Flavor soup with two additional plates of beef and lamb. Overall really solid with a strong tom yum flavor! The meat portions were tender and the assortment of seafood was fresh for the most part. I was very disappointed with the crab because it was mushy and completely inedible. I always love the array of sauces they provide - Chili oil, Soybean Chili, and Garlic Soy Sauce. My personal favorite is the Soybean Chili! I can literally eat plain rice with this sauce - so good! Since we came for lunch, they also served us a complimentary tea drink. This has to be one of, if not the best honey green teas I have ever drank - very strong tea and honey flavor, so refreshing!! It is obvious Tasty Pot has been affected by the recent inflation, I remember when a Tom Yum pot was $18 when it first opened but now they are nearly $22. Decided to check out the new AYCE for $25. It was busy as expected for a Sunday lunch. Service was sub par -- the people seated right before us ended up leaving (heard them grumbling about "poor service"), so we ended up taking their table. No one noticed they left, so I let a server know after we kept waiting...The broths online don't match the broths on the paper menu. No sukiyaki and the tonkotsu broth was sold out. Bummer since those are the two broths we wanted...ended up ordering the satay broth instead (which was not on the paper menu...) The beef belly was also out of stock, double bummer. I feel like the out of stock items should have been communicated beforehand, but there is limited service here -- only QR code ordering and occasional plate clearing. The pork belly was also not pork belly -- seemed like pork shoulder? The selection for the buffet table was extensive and enjoyed. Overall, I felt like it was a good deal, but would probably come on a less busy day, check what is out of stock before seating, and hope for better service. It's definitely affordable, but don't expect the usual hot pot setup where you choose your own meats and veggies. Everything comes in one pre-packed bowl, and it's not all-you-can-eat. The Thai flavor wasn't spicy at all--maybe I found a tiny bit of a Bird's Eye chili, but that was about it. The meat was also overcooked, which was a bit of a letdown. I wonder if they'd let you ask for raw meat on the side since I prefer my beef a little undercooked. One of the workers mixed up our order from another and gave my table fried calamari instead of popcorn chicken. When we told the waiter, he proceeded to pick up the incorrect orders and swapped it with our table. The other table took a piece of chicken and it was already set on the table, making it illegal to give to another table. We believe the waiter was new but that is dangerous. There are 3 jars: spicy soybean paste, garlic soy sauce and chili salt. The chili oil is provided in a squeezy tube instead of a jar. This location went back to the re-usable utensils aka the normal spoons/chopsticks. The Newark location is still doing disposable spoon and chopsticks. The food came out right after we ordered. I got the curry medium and there was a good amount of spice (not too much but a little more than other locations ive been to). The portions of the meat/toppings were generous and due to the restaurant closing, we weren't able to finish all of it so we took it as to go. Servers were very attentive and weren't rushing us when it was closing time either. When going with AYCE you pick your broth (from the menu) then go make your sauce concoction, grab veggies and such from buffet, and bring everything back to the table. You order the meat from the menu and it will be delivered to your table too (usually very quickly). If you do not want All You Can Eat, you can get any of their pre-made hot pots.
