I came here 2 years ago and have such a fond memory of how great the food was. I flew into Boston this morning and my first stop was Tatte, right when they opened. I got the halva latte that I was dreaming of (tasty, yes), and the sweet French toast. The French toast had a beautiful presentation, but tasted awful. The challah was extremely dense and stale. I called over one of the servers to let them know that I didn't want it anymore. As I was waiting, I drank my latte. When there was about 3 sips left, I saw something shiny floating around, that looked like plastic. I fished it out and it was broken GLASS. Thank god I didn't swallow it. I got a refund for my meal, but the bitter memory is going to be everlasting. read more

I stopped by Tatte Bakery for breakfast on the coldest Boston morning in April. I ran inside to beat the icy rain that was starting to fall. I walked into a big, bright looking cafe. Lots of goodness happening, hot coffee and fresh baked goods. Did I just describe heaven? I grab a cuppa hot coffee and a pistachio croissant. I run back to the car and open the bag. The croissant is hefty! I take a bite, there is nice amount of pistachio cream. I love the cream and the fresh pistachio nuts on top. The croissant itself unfortunately was more doughy than flaky. My server was quick and efficient, I was out the door with my baked goods in under 90 seconds. I would return to this location if I'm staying in the area. read more

I love the bakery goods here. Especially the cherry pistachio tart. It's on the pricier side at $7.50 but it's a nice treat when traveling. The food was decent. Nothing special but not a bad option. The sandwich was good and I love a good sourdough. I would skip the cavatelli. Just felt a bit like overpriced short pasta. The atmosphere is nice inside but always filled with too many people. Services is dry here. I wanted to get the Ham and Cheese croissant heated up and the lady said we don't have that service here, yet behind her is a full service kitchen with guys standing around chitchating with each other. I've ordered the Roasted Salmon Sandwich and waited more than 30 minutes at which point I got up and asked for status. The lady gave me a dirty look and went back to kitchen to check and it appears they forgot the order as others that came after me got theirs before me. In town for the Boston Marathon and was recommended by a friend to try Tattes. We went 3 times while visiting! Food was delicious. Our favorite items were the croissant sandwich and the muesli. The yogurt on the muesli is the best I have had! Tastes homemade, granola is the perfect texture, and the berries are very fresh and delicious. 10 years ago when we visited Boston I loved Tatte. This time around I was less wowed. The chocolate croissant was rather heavy bread like, almost something like you'd buy from the grocery store. The egg avocado tartine was good but I thought the bread was too hard. Chocolate bread was excellent. The cranberry pistachio short bread cookies remain one of my favorites. The pistachio croissant and the apricot pistachio cake were the highlights for me, and the sour cherry scone was solid too. The lamb couscous dish was fantastic too. I was underwhelmed by their shakshuka though- it's one of my favorite dishes, but I found both versions we tried today a bit underseasoned and not as flavorful as I'd hoped. I love a little cafe, and while my understanding is that this isn't a standalone but rather part of a chain, it does such an exceptional job of creating the vibe of a homey but professional bakery. The baked goods are tremendous. I tried a kouign aman as I'd been lusting after one for a good long while, and it didn't disappoint. Nice and crispy with a layer of crackly sweet burnt sugar, and lots and lots of delicious little layers of pastry. The coffee was good, if not great, and the breakfast fare was both reasonably priced and delicious. The food was all very fresh! I love Tatte a latte!! This was the first coffee shop I tried in Boston after seeing it so highly recommended on social media. I went to Tatte 3 times during my trip since it's very accessible as they have plentiful locations. The current seasonal latte is a Pistachio Latte which was my absolute favorite! It wasn't too sweet and using oat milk made it super creamy which I loved. I also tried an Iced Caramel Latte which was good, and their House Tatte Latte which was a little too cinnamon-y for my liking. The quality of their espresso here is great though and I have no complaints, their lattes were a great pick-me-up in the mornings to help me adjust to the time a bit easier. The tea here is okay, and the pastries are super pretty but after trying a few such as croissants and loafs, I found that there's nothing special about them. They do have long lines sometimes but it moves fast as the employees are quick and efficient. I can definitely see why Tatte is so popular, I'm happy that I got to try a variety of their lattes! read more

This is a cute little bakery. It was so busy when we were there! They have a coffee bar, sweet treats and savory items. The bakery items were all delicious and the savory were homemade and yummy too. It's not super kids friendly though. I brought my kids in and apparently there is a kids menu but it was posted no where so I we ended up having to get things of the adult menu and of course nothing was plain enough for them. This was our go-to breakfast spot while visiting Boston. It's perfect because you can opt for something light or big, but no matter what, it'll hit the spot! The first time we visited, I got the croissant breakfast sandwich with a citrus ginger muffin and the second time I visited, I got the Jerusalem bagel with orange juice. Both times were excellent! The croissant was SO soft. You have to get their orange juice too - ahh, it was super refreshing. It has a little bit of pulp, so maybe stay away if that's not your thing. Otherwise, it's a must. The prices reflect the quality of the food and the popularity shows, considering the place was always packed for breakfast. The interior definitely gives off brunch vibes and it's cute! I'd heard great things about this cafe so I had to check it out to see what the hype was all about. I went on a Tuesday evening and it was pretty busy but there was still ample seating inside and outside. The inside seating has a great set up if you want to get some work done or meet up with a friend. I couldn't find an outlet so come with your devices charged. I ordered the summer vegetable lasagna and it was the perfect dish for my dinner. It's a bit over $15 which includes: pasta baked with corn, zucchini, spinach, onions, peppers, thyme, fontina, & Parmesan cheese. What an aesthetic! This entire place was on point... from the layout of the coffee shop to the food, a very clean aesthetic was present throughout. They did an amazing job. There was a line of people on a Sunday right at 9 am but I see why! They line didn't last long, and I needed to time to decide what I was getting because everything (even items out behind the counter) looked and sounded delicious. You order at the counter and then they bring it out to you. I got my coffee right away, and we didn't wait very long for our food to come out. This was very conveniently located in the building I had a meeting in that morning. They have a good amount of seating inside as well as outside, which made it easy for my friend and I to catch up. They have a nice display of pastries that make it hard to pick just one, and I ended up getting the pistachio croissant, the ham & cheese croissant and a Tatte latte, all of which were really delicious. The croissants are airy,crispy, light, and buttery and the filings had really good ratios. If I had more time I would try something off their brunch menu, so that's something to look forward to. read more

I feel almost silly reviewing Tatte because it's clearly a great spot. What do I need to do to get a Tatte in MN? I'm so serious. I went here basically every day I was in Boston because I LOVE their espresso. So smooth and flavorful. This is one of the rare spots you can get a plain latte and not feel like you need something sweet to balance the bitter espresso. Nope, their espresso is smooth and full. Ugh so good!!! However, as good as their coffee is, their pastries are the highlight. I got a different one every day. Chocolate croissant, morning bun, monkey bread, cinnamon pecan rose... All were so good. My favorite was definitely the morning bun though. So fresh and moist. Chef's! Kiss! My parents ordered their food once and unfortunately they lost our order so we were waiting a longggg time for two sandwiches (which was not good because we also had an Uber on the way for us to get to the airport)! That being said, the staff were super apologetic about the wait and offered to give us free pastries to make up for it. We got tired of hotel coffee and chose Tatte on Pier 4, partly for the view. It was really busy this Saturday morning, and there were no outside tables available. One server we flagged, on one of her many trips to find the owner of an iced drink, tried to keep an eye out for a table, but none were found. We got our mocha, dark roast and two breakfast rolls, and decided to intrude on a lone woman at an outside table, apparently waiting for her friend. She was quite gracious, and although we hesitated striking up conversation, so as not to further intrude, she seemed chill with it. We enjoyed learning about her career as an avian naturalist/scientist, and of course, couldn't help but show her pics of our sweet granddaughter. When her friend came around we eased back, saying we had been boring her friend with pics--and she amazingly said, "I want to see too!" This place is SO good that we came here every morning we were in Boston! There's a reason they're busy in the middle of the day. The food and coffee drinks are incredible! I had to try the honey halva latte. I had it iced with almond milk and it will forever be one of the best lattes I have ever enjoyed! Just the right amount of sweetness while being so smooth and hitting the spot. The first day we went we both tried the two breakfast platters they have. I really enjoyed the eggs with goat cheese and tomatoes. The prosciutto on the other was spot on! For day two we had the home breakfast platter and that too was great. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Free water should you need it. We took pastries for the train ride home and the pistachio croissant was excellent. Staff is friendly and fast. The best coffee shop in Boston. Look no further. They have amazing bakery options, great coffee, lovely brunch menus and a huge seating area to accommodate large crowds. We stopped by Tatte's multiple locations during our trip to New England last fall and every time we walked in to this we walked out with a lot of bakery products. Yum Yum. Huge fan of their house lattes. Also tried their turmeric and honey latte and it was awesome so was the mocha. Apart from that we tried their tarts (divine), chocolate dome (disappeared in a wink) apart from a few other chocolate pasteries and croissants. Their bakery items do taste fresh and they keep refilling it all through out the day. Overall, I love Tatte - they have a big selection of baked goods, brunch items and drinks. The lamb pita definitely hit the spot. Tender meatballs and dressed tomatoes sitting within a soft warm pita. Compact but filling. I only wished it came with a little tzatziki sauce like the chicken version. The restaurant was filled at the lunch hour, so took a little while to come out. But the wait was worth it!
