Great all around! I was here for dinner on a Friday night with my girlfriend and my parents. They have a very unique style here, which includes each server helping with each table (so we had 1 of the 3 servers at any given time). Drinks: they had a very extensive wine and beer list, along with a house cocktail list. Tried a few different things and everything was well done. Food: we tried a little bit of everything including jalapeño and garlic poppers, duck confit rolls (2 fried, 2 steamed), 2 kinds of stuffed dates, 2 kinds of bocadillos (chicken cordon Bleu and spicy pork), sirloin steak skewers, and tavern fries with truffle cheddar sauce. Best of the food: hands down the chicken cordon Bleu bocadillo! And the truffle cheddar sauce would be second. But overall all the food was excellent Service: excellent. So disappointed! Not that many non-trad spots in the Lakes region and we really wanted to like and support this place. But... Small as it is, the staff seemed - harassed. They were all kind of frantic and sloppy, and came off as annoyed that we were making their life harder by showing up and creating more work by, you know, ordering. The menu reads like interesting choicemaking but the execution was poor across the board. Awesome'est linner we have had. We were exhausted and famished from our treetop adventure at a nearby park and had heard good reviews about this place from our friends. We decided to give it a try and were absolutely delighted. This is a very unassuming, cozy tavern that you can easily miss when passing by. It seems they converted a house into a tavern, either ways we loved the ambience. The food was pretty good as well, we are vegetarians, so normally we have limited options to look at but at this place we had a variety of items to eat. The owner stopped by to check up on how we liked the place and has this story of how the tavern came about. The only reason I have been holding off on reviewing this place is because we wanted to keep it for ourselves.. it is that good. read more

Couldn't get much better than our experience here tonight. Here's what my boyfriend and I had (Yes, we pigged out) 1) Egg cups with horseradish : very good- horseradish was a great compliment to the egg (which was served in an adorable egg cup) 2) Chickpea fries : the highlight of the meal for me. everything was great , but these were phenomenal. I told my boyfriend I needed to figure out how to make them because I wanted them as a whole meal. Spicy mayo and ketchup for dipping- PERFECT! 3) Beef roulade: very good. the mashed potatoes were divine. the beef was well cooked-- just wish they gave you a steak knife for it. 4) Spicy pork with candied onions: awesome. I'd had candied onions at another tapas place a few months ago and *really* didn't like them. These ones, though, were awesome and a great addition to the open-faced tiny sandwiches. 5)duck confit egg rolls: sooo good. There were both fried and steamed - i liked the fried more, but the steamed were great too. dipping sauces were a savory asian style and a sweet chili sauce 6) bread pudding in a bourbon caramel sauce with homemade whipped cream: i don't really need to say anything else, do I? Not much I can say that other reviewers haven't already said. We tried quite a bit of the menu on our first visit recently. It was all top quality. The chickpea fries and the scallops were standouts. Calamari was light, crisp and delicious. Not greasy at all. Jalapeno poppers were too spicy for me, but if that's what you like . . . Martinis and general cocktails were well made. The gluten-free options were far more expansive than I've seen in any restaurant. It was a quiet night but the ambiance was still perfect. I'm glad for Laconia that is has something so nice. I can't write this review without paying special praise to our server/bartender Stephanie. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and friendly but not intrusive. She made our special night that much more special. The owner also went out of his way to check on us and was invested in our happiness. We will be back. Soon, if we're lucky. read more

I was in town from LA for a commercial shoot and I was really striking out with good culinary in the area. On my last day, but of course, I stumbled upon this place because it was close to hotel. At first I was very skeptical as I pulled up and saw this really raunchy looking Halloween house (this was after Halloween). The place is wicked cozy and quaint with a full bar, I was surprised. However nothing could prepare me for when my awesome server Phil sold me on the Sangarita Jar and brought it to me. Dear lord. This drink is literally a sangria and margarita in a jar but not no ordinary mason jar but a god damn barefoot jar. It was good but it was hard to down by yourself. The food is great! Yes the scotch eggs are wicked good. Yes, the shrimp cloud 9 tastes like a cloud 9. The bacon black and blue tenderloin pinchos is not nachos folks but it is delicious. All 4 of these items cost $67.58, a bit pricey for NH but honestly some of the best food ya'll get. read more

Jalapeno poppers- 5+ its like a fiesta in your mouth. Booze is overpriced. The inside is confusing.. Like it is trying to be trendy ( I think) yet cant get passed grandma's kitchen ( I am sorry :/ ) . There is ambiance identity confusion.. No really, I am a Psychology professor. Informally diagnosed. The exception to this rule= the outside bar during the summer that is in some cable car thing. I hope to review the "beer garden" aspect this summer. This little gem was an awesome find on our trip up New Hampshire. The host was so incredibly nice and was luckily able to squeeze us in without a reservation (on a Friday night). You may want to think about calling ahead though if you want to get in. The service was 5 stars and the food was just on the edge of 4/5 stars. My fiancé and I were visiting Laconia and we decided to give Tavern 27 a try after reading all of the excellent reviews online. We are SO glad that we did. First of all, the ambience of the restaurant is amazing. It is set up in a renovated home. There is a piano set up in the foyer with seats surrounding it for those who want to be near the beautiful music. The walls are decorated with sentimental-seeming knickknacks and the staff is extremely welcoming. In addition to this, the food is unique and delicious!! When we sat down, we were given complimentary sweet potato chips with a flavorful white bean dip. We ordered a couple of drinks and four dishes that came one at a time so we could sample the delicious flavors slowly and enjoy the ambience of the venue. At the end, we tried the incredible sour dough bread pudding (!!!) and we left very full and happy. I would come to Laconia again just to visit Tavern 27! We are huge fans!! read more

After being to almost every state & a few different countries, this is my absolute favorite restaurant. The "American Spin" on tapas is absolutely perfect. Almost all of their food being gluten free, cooked with only the freshest ingredients & a menu that has changed quite a few times over the years, I could never get bored of this place. After being here well over 30 times in the past 4yrs (I live 3hrs away, or I'd be there more), never once has anything been less than amazingly perfect. Match that with an amazing staff/owner, super friendly entertainment (piano), beautifully stocked bar & still a place that has the perfect 'nice casual' feel (IMO) - you can't get any better. My favorites are the Sweet Potato Fries with Cheddar dipping sauce, Asparagus with horse radish cheddar, these amazing sirloin tips with portobello on top, the Steak Roulade, the best Tomato Basil soup... It's a great idea with mediocre execution. The lemonade was the highlight of the meal. Tapas don't all arrive at the same time, understood. Dont come here unless you have well over an hour to try 3 dishes. The crab cake "balls" were not very good, the chicken was rubbery, steak was mediocre and calamari boring and tough to eat out of the little bowl. We went here upon the recommendation of our B&B owner and had a very nice meal. It's a collection of small plates that can be shared as well as a nice range of flatbread pizzas. The restaurant is in an old house / golf club house that the owners took over and converted into a restaurant a couple years back. The owner / manager is eager to please and incredibly accommodating (he even walked us to our car with an umbrella in the rain - I've never seen anything like it). Good for a relaxed meal while in the area. Some nights there is also live music of varying genres, all played at a good level to be enjoyed but not hinder conversation. We ate here while vacationing in the Lakes Region and decided it was our second favorite restaurant (of about 10) that we tried, second only to The Local Eatery in Laconia. The plates here are a bit larger than tapas but a bit smaller than entrees. The menu is large and the options varied. We ordered the jalepeno poppers (good amount of kick), a fig pizza (interesting ingredients and prepared well), chickpea fries (a bit dry) and a salad (not remarkable because I can't remember it.) The service was attentive and helpful, and the ambiance was funky and interesting - an old house with the rooms still intact. The live music was also good. In comparison to the other restaurants in the Lakes region, I think this deserves 4 stars. However, had it been elsewhere, I likely would have given in 3. read more

Went for dinner on a Wednesday evening. First time at restaurant. Decor was interesting and warm, being a renovated 18th century tavern, farmhouse. Service was friendly and responsive. The server accommodated my wife with a wine that was not on the menu and was able to pick something she enjoyed. The low rating is the food. We selected entirely from the the tapas menus, so other selections might be different. Mostly the selections were fresh, but lacked a fusion of the ingredients used, so that the dishes left one unimpressed. Blueberry Chicken: 2/3 I wasn't really tasting the blueberry there. Fried Calamari (Sweet & Sour and Tartar sauces): 2/3 Sauce makes or breaks calamari. The atmosphere is nice. The owners are very friendly. The food is better then most places in the area. We went as a party of four. Two of us loved it. The other two didn't... It's tapas so if you have a party of four expect to order seven or eight $7.00 to $12.00 plates. The idea of tapas is nice but it doesn't matter how many things we ordered it didn't feel satisfying. Food was incredible!!!...but cannot say the same about the service. Took between 20-30 minutes for each course to come even though each consisted of a small plate of chicken skewers or shrimp or maybe a crab cake. Although we ordered pizza a half an hour into the meal, two hours in, they told us it was just going into the oven, so we ended up taking it home since by then we were ready to leave. Interesting venue. The food was good. We were greeted by PHIL who told us that he and the two ladies would be taking care of us. They gave us a bottle of water and some complementary sweet potato chips with hummus. All was fine. We gave Kristen our order. Hubby liked his soup. We were going to share a stacked salad but waitress realized after she brought the salad that tongs would help. She dropped our pizza off half and hour later. We finished that and no one ever came to ask about more tapas or dessert. We waited and waited. We asked for more water. The waitress came with the water after we had asked Phil for a check. We asked her too. We waited for at least half an hour still no check. We asked the waitress turned bartender who said no one told her we wanted a check. We sat two feet from her she did not check on us at all! We angrily told her this was the worst service experience we ever had. Phil knowing I am a Yelp follower took us aside and said they are having issues with their POS System. He wanted know what he could do for us. I told him their team waiter system does not work. We were totally ignored all night. I was ready to estimate the check and leave it on the table. So disappointed after these great reviews. read more

Our experience was a lot like the chickpea fries we ordered: unconventional, yet mediocre. We entered on a Friday night without a reservation (don't do that), and luckily got seated at the bar. The service was friendly and attentive for the first half of our night, and then just okay. Ordering vegetarian, we opted for the mezze plate which had tasty cheese, charred fluffy bread, and flavorful pickled veggies (that left our mouths on fire). My girlfriend devoured the cheese trying to stop the pain. The powerhouse salad was very okay, even considering the over use of dried fruits. The chickpea fries tasted great, though were dry and crumbly. We left stuffed as the plates are filling. The drink menu didn't include prices, that's notable because we ended up ordering two $18 drinks. In their defense they warn in bold that some drinks are double servings. read more

A real gem! You will love this place - not fancy but very homey and "different"! Other have commented on dishes - we loved the Cod Bites, Chicken Cordon Bleu and Pork Confit tapas. We were headed to a concert at the pavilion so we thought we'd give it a try with such high yelp reviews! We had several tapas, our favorites were the prosciutto wrapped dates and the blue cheese dip. Holy yum! Last night, our family visited Tavern 27 for the 4th time. The first two visits were great. Food, atmosphere, and servers made us agree that we would definitely be back. The third visit began with me calling to make a reservation. During this call the woman who answered the phone (first name begins with a "B") and who took down all of our necessary information, felt the need to correct my grammar. Or so she thought, because actually she was the one incorrect when "correcting " me. Little does she know I'm a veteran teacher. Once there, we enjoyed our meal, as well as the interaction with the staff. On our last visit, we were asked by three different servers if we would like alcoholic beverages. Our party of five declined each time. Our water glasses were filled twice by "B" and she was thanked each time, but she chose to ignore our politeness. Once we received our orders we were not checked in on at all. Our next dishes were then brought out while our empty dirty plates remained in front of each of us. Still, no one asked if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meals. At the end of our experience, we asked for a couple of to-go containers. While waiting, and waiting, and waiting for them to arrive we asked another server, who happened to seat us at our table, for the same items. Her response, " I'm not your waitress, I only seated you." We responded, " I understand you sat us, but we have been waiting for to-go containers and no one has returned." We were then brought our containers and then that same girl hurried to the bar and proceeded to talk about us to "B." While we watched them nod in our direction, our furry grew. Although the food is delicious, the help ruins it. "B" should receive some direct training on social skills. As well as the girl who sat us.
