First time trying Taverna out. After hearing so many great things I had to try it. Everyone was right!! EXCELLENT!! We ordered Brussels sprouts and Burrata caprese as an appetizer. For the main course I went with the house made ravioli, add shrimp for an additional charge. Great flavors! Dessert was amazing we got overly excited for the chocolate mousse cake and took a bit before the picture, then I ordered their evening special of butterscotch pudding, and I cleaned the whole bowl. To top off dessert I ordered a pistachio espresso martini and it was delicious but not too sweet. Staff was friendly and quick to help suggest meals and drinks. Lighting is low but sets the mood perf for a date night. read more

Dang man I really wanted to write a good review. We came here for my birthday dinner... wish we didn't! The place wasn't extremely but we had a reservation. The server was nice but soooo slow. We got the burrata app, was ok I was hoping for the bread to be a bit better than sandwich bread lol I got the pear martini which was the best thing I got there. Tasted just like a real pear. I got the fettuccine and I thought it was going to come out like with Alfredo sauce but it was like a mix of red sauce and Alfredo???? I'm confused ... it was just OK. Nothing special. Now my bf had the filet and my lord do not spend $60 on this plate people! It was like 4 overcooked pieces of meat with tons of sauce and a few fingerling potatoes... I'd rather go to seasons 52 and get a full piece of meat! I mean WTH? Like $60 for what? Very strange! We left before dessert bc of how slow the server was we didn't want to be trapped forever. We ended up getting an amazing dessert at Saleya cafe down the street. Also note: the manager was walking around the entire night and didn't stop at our table once yet he stopped at alllll the others... I think he knew we were unhappy and was avoiding us! Probably best he didn't bc we weren't happy but poor form on his part bc now here a bad review! I only gave 1 star bc of the drink. I don't even take pictures and I wish I had especially for the small filet meal. We just weren't having a good experience enough to think to take any pictures lol read more

Went here and enjoyed everything you see. The drinks were good. Especially the expresso Martini & the red cocktail I can't recall the name of. Shrimp scampi was my dish and omg, it was perfect. The right amount of everything, only added some pepper (b/c I put it on everything). Service: Our waitress was knowledgeable and provided A1 service. Ambiance: We sat outside because it was a beautiful day, nice to people watch. read more

I came with my sister in law for her birthday. Beautiful place! Glad I made a reservation because it was packed! Food was good! Loved the Parmesan Truffle Fries! Sis got the seafood stew and loved it! I got the short rib and it was tender and delicious! Our waitress Chamar (I hope I got her name right) it was a very pretty and unique name! On the positive side, the atmosphere is very nice. We sat on the covered outdoor seating area, and it was nice. The service was fairly good but very slow. We arrived just before 1. Were seated promptly and given menus. They took our order about 10 minutes later. But it took 25 minutes to get a salad and a sandwich. That's not acceptable. I had the smoked chicken sandwich. I had to disassemble it to eat it. They put the stem of a head of lettuce in the center of the sandwich, plus a ridiculous amount of lettuce leaves. The sandwich was about 5 inches tall, all about "presentation". But here is a news alert for management, "food is ment to be eaten". No excuse for serving something you can't eat. My wife had the grilled pear salad and it was good other than undercooked thick sliced bacon. But there wasn't much of that. She got the "large portion" salad, intending to share some with me, but it wasn't very big. The prices were higher than what is justified. A Caesar salad with chicken is around $25. I came to Taverna to celebrate a friend's birthday, and I was thrilled that she chose this spot because it's one of my favorites. I had the steak frites, which consisted of a beautiful cut of meat and crispy fries with Parmesan, garlic, and herbs. The demi glaze tied this meal together perfectly. Ok seriously mad at myself for not trying this place sooner! It has been recommended and on my list for a while but the FOOD exceeded my expectations. I ordered the Steak and fries , steak medium. Such great flavor on both the steak and the fries. The fries were crispy and each one had that truffle parmesan goodness on it! Joseph's dish though stole the show! I am not normally a ravioli person. I will eat them but I don't ever order them. Every bit was packed with flavor and the peas seriously elevated this dish... I am seriously already thinking about when we are going back to get more. Our server Adam was great too, his recommendations were spot on. It was raining If you still have tried them you definitely need to do it soon, I do not believe you will be disappointed. read more

Absolutely fantastic experience at Taverna! The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every dish we ordered was incredible--from the rich, comforting ravioli with shrimp in a dreamy creamy sauce, everything was cooked to perfection and the chef special rib eye with mash potatoes. .You can really taste the quality and care in each bite. For lunch, we stopped at Taverna in the San Marco neighborhood. I got the appetizer portion of sautéed mussels and clams and added spaghetti. The mussels and clams were sautéed with smoked onions and leeks, sun dried tomatoes, white wine, all swimming in a roasted garlic mascarpone cream sauce. It was a good thing I got the appetizer portion because this was a ton of food. And so good. I devoured through the bivalves and made it through about half the pasta before tapping out. Which is a good thing because I was about to turn that bowl up and drink the rest of that sauce. read more

I was in town for an evening so my friends and I went to dinner here. We sat on the outside front patio which was super cute and wasn't crowded by people waking by. It even gave us the opportunity for us to see a rainbow. We started with the parmesan truffle fries which were crispy and well seasoned. My drink, the sour, was really good so whiskey drinkers order it! I got the smaller portion of the scallops which is 3 instead of 5 and I wish I'd gotten the 5 because it was delicious. The butternut squash and mushroom risotto was super earthy and flavorful. When we were done eating we asked for a dessert drinks menu. If you're a drinker, save some space because our drinks were well balanced and the perfect way to end the evening. I got a pumpkin and bourbon drink and would recommend. Definitely a good date or friend date spot. read more

Started with a cabernet franc which was lovely. Had some sexy pèque oysters which were delicate and sweet. 3 sauces cocktail, mignette and kimchi. My favorite kimchi and hub liked cocktail. Next beef carpaccio - oh so perfectly yummy. Only issue was large slices of red onion - shallot would be better suited. The garlic chips added a nice touch as did all the other condiments with. Next lobster burratta salad - good size chunks of poached lobster, burratta ans marinated beets, arugula and mandarins. With a basil oil sauce. Delicious combo. Lobster could have bit of seasoning. Lastly had the miso sea bass. Yummy. Perfectly cooked and slurpable sauce. Beautiful clean decor. Nice bar. Only issue is metal chairs- not comfortable. I enjoyed my dinner with friends here at Taverna! The wait-staff were friendly, however they were very slow, unfortunately. We were waiting for our dinner to come out for about a little over an hour. I ordered the summer sangria to drink and really liked it. It was refreshing! The burrata caprese was good as well. A suggestion to try for them would to have crostinis instead of toast. The Parmesan truffle fries were as you would expect- yummy- but the waitress really hyped it up and made it seem like they were extraordinary and I can't say that I agree with that sentiment. The Caesar salad was good, a little fishy due to the anchovy, and smaller than I expected for a large Caesar salad. Overall, my impression is that the price is high for small portions. read more

I love the ambiance here. Modern rustic upscale. Is that a thing? It is here. Happy hour was nice. Decent wine selection and apps. We started with a charcuterie board and some wine. All very good. Nothing that really WOW'd me. Just a solid board of meats and cheese. For dinner I had the rack of lamb. My husband got the Bolognese. Husband LOVED the Bolognese! My rack of lamb was okay. Although I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Husband had a glass of the Argiolas 'Korem' Isola Dei Nuraghi. WOW! The best wine I've ever had! All time favorite for me. This was then followed by the absolute worst drink I've ever had. It was their version of an espresso martini, but with tequila. Now, I'm all for trying things that are out of the ordinary, and with that you run a big risk of ingesting some, indigestible things. This drink was just that. It tasted like spicy burnt tires. Wow. I was literally looking at my husband saying "why is it spicy?" in a hoarse voice (IYKYK). Haha. The server even said it was "Chefs kiss" and that this drink won a ton of awards!?!? I truly do not know how. It was so awful. But hey, you win some and you lose some. Even after that, I'd still come back to try other things. There are a lot of items in the menu that looked good. Our favorite restaurant in the San Marco area! The food is delicious, steak frites is the best. You also cannot go wrong with any of their pastas. Happy hour here is always a great option for bar bites and wine. It can get very busy on Friday/Saturday evenings so make a reservation if able! read more

Taverna is hands down one of the most consistent and best restaurants in Jacksonville. We stopped in for brunch and were immediately welcomed by a very friendly host. We had reservations and were promptly taken to our seat. The food is so fresh and impeccable. Loved the banana bread being paired with apple purer, what a great combo!! The ambiance is always very lively and contagious. You cannot visit here and not be in a great mood the entire time. This was my first time trying their brunch and it was amazing!! Brunch before watching the Jags game. We had reservations and waited a few minutes before being seated. I ordered their short rib Benedict brunch special. Flavorful meaty taste of braised short rib paired with simple greens. I had a couple of bites of my wife's Turkey and Brie sandwich. There wasn't much brie in the sandwich and the cranberry sauce in it was overwhelming. The price on our check didn't match the menu prices. Charged us more for the sandwich and bloody Mary and we're not talking about a couple of dollars here folks. Service was ok. Our server didn't even ask if we wanted dessert. She wasn't around that much and we had to wait to get our check picked up. Game was about to start and we're more than ready to go. It will be a while before we come back. read more

Located in San March, parking is what it is. The wait time was a few minutes, even with reservations, but it was worth it! I ordered the scallops. They were cooked to perfection. Deliciously seasoned on top of a mushroom risotto.( only issue was a little crunchy on the risotto- ), but delicious. The ambiance is casual and we sat at a booth beside the bar. We had an amazing dinner at taverna Friday night.. we recommend you always make a reservation we decided to eat out on the patio because they had heaters which made it nice and toasty and warm for us very cozy... The food is delicious we enjoyed the meatballs the linguine and clams... The delicious sea scallops the Mediterranean olives the brussels sprouts... A bottle of red a bottle of white so good... The service is amazing very friendly very quick.... And of course we had one of their delicious Panna cotta desserts.. The ambience is amazing we really enjoyed our time there.. we can't wait to go back... read more

Taverna is one of those places where it's hard to decide on what you want because everything sounds so good. A split level dining room with a bar on the side had a very modern trendy appeal. Plus our toddler liked the fact that he could see them cooking pizzas in the oven. Service was very good. Prompt and friendly. Honestly, I just wish they had delivered our entrees as ordered. Both were far more rare than they should have been based on our order. I know, I know..."just send it back". But I just can't. It seemed like a place where you could do that and not worry about issues from the kitchen but as all parents do we had a limited time based on the attention span of the kids. So we just decided to deal with it. The taste of the food was good and the inaccurate temperature is the only thing holding Taverna back from a 5th star. We will for sure be going back to give it another try. read more

First time here at Taverna ever and we went for Brunch! The ambiance and atmosphere inside was so cute & cozy (leftover from Christmas) and our server was engaging and kind. The burrata, meat and fig spread were a yummy start....the only dislike was the side of eggs tasting like they were swimming in pesto and barely tasted any egg but all in all still a delicious brunch. I have been wanting to visit Taverna as I have read good reviews about their food. Reservation is encouraged as they can get busy. As for the parking, it has always been our issue when we go to this area, and true enough, we could not find one immediately. The vibe of the place is casual on a Sunday brunch. They have a tv on the side of the reception area but surprisingly none at the bar. It would've been nice to watch a football game while waiting for our food. Anyways, we ordered the following: Bloody Mary- this is just like any average Bloody Mary, next time I will ask for a celery, they were pretty busy so I did not bother. Braised Short Rib Benedict- hubby and I both loved this dish! Very flavorful, but quite pricey for the portion. Turkey and Brie - this was a miss for me. I love Brie, and I could not taste it. The cranberry overpowered the sandwich. The ratio of bread to the filling is not balanced. I also requested to substitute the fries for a salad. Our server asked if I wanted tomatoes and onions with it and I said yes. I did not realize there will be an additional charge. Our server only came back once and did not even ask if we wanted a dessert. For the three items that we ordered, our total bill was $69 including the tip and I was not satisfied, to be honest. Overall, we would probably come back and try the pasta and their other entrees. I should've ordered the pasta in the first place as they specializes in Italian food. read more

Service was excellent and food was delectable. My husband and wanted Mediterranean food before our concert and this place came up in our search. It wasn't quite the Mediterranean menu I was expecting but it satisfied the palate. My husband ordered a clams and mussels appetizer with pasta and I ordered the steak frites. Both were perfectly portioned for our appetite. I ordered the steak medium and it came out perfectly pink and tender. The clams, mussels and spaghetti was tasty. I have visited Taverna for both lunch and dinner and I really, really enjoy the food and wine! I recently went to a friend's birthday dinner and LOVED the ravioli I got. I am seriously still thinking about it. I had the Italian Cabernet that was delicious, and skipped the apps this time so I could indulge in the ravioli. The fresh pasta was filled with herbed ricotta, and had mushrooms, kale, peas, in a truffle cream sauce. OMG it was so flavorful and really amazing. I will absolutely order this again next time. They have a great wine list and fav appetizers include the delicious burrata and seasonal salads. Our dinner was not perfect- we arrived for a 7pm reservation and ordered at maybe 7:30 pm. We were not served dinner until 8:55 pm..... I felt like we were forgotten about a bit since we were seated outside in the 100 degree weather. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable, but I'm sure he was slammed inside on a Saturday night. He brought out a glass of champagne for the birthday girl after the dinner and said "better late than never". It was kind of awkward since it felt like an after thought. He also brought her a complimentary glass full of Italian cookies. That was a nice touch. We had to ask for the lights to be turned on since we were in the dark outside lol. The fans also did not help with circulating the 100 degree air at all. They really need some huge fans set on high to help with the heat. I've been only twice but each time the food was excellent! I always say this place served me one of the best shrimp scampi I have ever eaten. Second time I ordered a ravioli pasta and it was excellent too. Their sweet tea is really great too, it's not like typical sweet tea it has an earthy taste which was excellent. This is a pleasant and tasty spot in San Marco that I finally had a reason to venture out to! I truly enjoyed the meal and our amazing server -- it was quite a pleasant spot to sit outside, enjoy a glass of Prosecco, and a good meal. Having lived a while in Italy, I'm always searching for more authentic and flavorful Italian spots. This one fit the bill for me -- I had their new lobster/crab carbonara which was very fresh and tasty, but a little lacking on the "carbonara" flavor I was craving. Once I got over that, though, I was able to enjoy what was a pleasant and delicious bowl of pasta. My only complaint is the price point. I know we're in a situation where prices of groceries and everything is high, but almost all the pasta meals and entrees were well over $30 (sandwiches, pizzas, etc were mostly under $25 by comparison). My meal was definitely worth the cost, but this just can't be a place for a quick and easy lunch place sadly. Either way, you definitely need to check this place out! read more

Made a booth reservation for 1145a through their website. We were seated promptly and greeted shortly after by Kayla. She was super sweet, personable, knowledgeable of the entire menu & very attentive. We asked for her favorites and she excitedly recommended a few from each category. I ended up ordering the Steak Frites with Truffle Fries and it was cooked PERFECTLY. I ate it all. Oops! We also ordered Vanilla Crème Brûlée ... omg just do it. Heavenly! This is definitely going to be our new go-to Italian spot in Jacksonville! It's located in the quaint and historical San Marco area. The moment we stepped in the front door, we were pleasantly greeted and seated immediately. We decided to order the Margarita Pizza and Fettuccine. Our sever was extremely accommodating by allowing us to switch the red sauce on the Fettuccine to white. I have to say- that it was BEST pasta and sauce I've ever tasted!!!! Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!!! The pizza was also AMAZING! The crust was light and crispy- with the perfect amount of cheese and sauce. I can not rave enough about the entire experience!!! We had a very good meal here on a crowded Saturday night, with desserts and drinks being the highlights. Starting off, my husband thought the cosmos were great, and I found the Negroni to be very well made. His steak and fries entree featured a steak that was cooked to his ordered temperature with a good outer sear and tasty fries. My entree of ravioli was decent, but the texture of the sauce was soupy rather than saucy and tasted a bit like a "generic" squash soup. The pepitas were a great addition, though! I also got a Caesar salad (which, fyi, does come with an anchovy) and thought the dressing in particular was excellent. The bigger disappointment was the Brussels sprouts appetizer. They were a little soggy, and the flavors didn't mesh too well -- it almost felt like too much was happening on the plate. The big star was a delicious pear and cranberry dessert that came in a HUGE serving by my standards. It was perfectly seated, nice and toasty, and had great ice cream slowly melting on top. Yum! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his chipwich, too. The service was friendly, but the pacing was pretty inconsistent. We got our appetizer within a couple minutes of ordering -- even before our drinks -- and then had a long wait between that and entrees. There were definitely times we were ready to order another drink and had to wait awhile to do so. However, it was -- as mentioned -- a packed Saturday night, so I understand things can get overwhelmed easily. We'll definitely be back. read more

Like any good kid back then wanting to hear a particular song, I listened to my FM radio nonstop, waiting patiently to hear this crazy song called "Pac-Man Fever!" Sadly I don't ever recall actually hearing it on my favorite station. Hearing about new things is much easier now. Social media and the internet overwhelm me with what the algorithms think I want to see and learn about. And most of the time those crazy programs and their internet overlords are spot on! Take, for instance, a rather new restaurant in San Marco focusing on seafood. Shellfish and caviar to be specific. A few months ago all of my feeds were filled with information about a new place in town - Brine. Obviously, my wife and I, loving all things related with food, knew that we needed to try it. Well, today was that day. First, know that the parking lot is down a dead end street that looks spooky. Keep going. I didn't and ended up parking in the larger lot where La Napolera is located. The restaurant is tiny. Our server told us that the space was used to sell smoothies. Or perhaps it was a phone booth. Regardless it's intimate. And the food is fantastic! Colette our server was fantastic. Bubbly, helpful and definitely gave off the vibe that she was happy to be there, helping us enjoy our meal. She was great and I can't say enough good things about her. We opted to try the tasting menu. It's an option when you book online. We also chose to sit at the counter. An island of 4 seats that look at the other diners sitting at the tables inside. It's odd and Colette told us that the owners were planning on building an expanded space in the near future. The tasting menu is a seven course meal. If desired, you can choose to add a wine pairing. We got one wine pairing that we split - it was more than enough and the Brine folks were kind enough to put the wine into two glasses. As for the courses we had for our meal? Course 1 Champagne PEI oysters Each oyster included a different topping. There was butter. And chorizo. And caviar. Each was delicious and very different. A perfect way to start the meal. The champagne was also a great. Course 2 Riesling Yellow tail (hamachi) crudo with pineapple. The pineapple was prepared three ways. And while the wine was very dry and minerally (is that a word?) it worked PERFECTLY with the sweetness of the pineapple. To me this pairing worked the best. Course 3 Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand Tuna tartar with aioli on a fried panko crusted seaweed cracker. The tuna flavor was delicate and worked well on top of the seaweed cracker. Again, the wine worked very well with the flavors of the fish. Course 4 Chanin blanc Salad with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, vinaigrette and butter and mashed potato and potato crisps. Lettuce and mashed potatoes? I don't know how. I don't know why. But it works. Really, really well. They're like mad scientists at Brine and they may be building a monster out of body parts. But darn it the potato/salad combo was fantastic! Course 5 Oaked Chardonnay Lobster cannelloni This was probably my favorite dish. The lobster filling was awesome and I literally wanted to fill a cup with the sauce and drink it through a straw. If you're not going to try the tasting menu I would highly recommend this for an entree. Course 6 Waygu shortrib and scallops and parsnips Ochetti langhe nebbiolo The scallops are sliced thin, which I liked a lot. The shortrib was good. I like parsnip, but I felt that its flavor overshadowed the flavors of the beef and the scallop. It's a tasty dish, but wasn't my favorite. Course 7 Cheesecake bread pudding with bourbon ice cream Chocolate pearls chocolate marscapone orange chocolate cake Solera 1847 Creme dulce Sherry Colette brought us two different desserts to try instead of each of us having the same. Both were fantastic. I think I liked the chocolate cake one more while my wife really enjoyed the cheesecake. The sherry was fine but didn't really add anything to the desserts. Course 8 (extra) Sugar cookie with vanilla ice cream and caviar. This was an extra treat that they brought. A cookie ice cream sandwich with caviar on it. Again, why does it work? I don't get it! But it was super tasty. We were both really full by this point but ate it all! Each course isn't a huge, but by the end we were stuffed. And splitting the wine was a good way let us drive home! The tasting menu is a great way to try Brine and the many of the flavor combinations they're putting together. It's not an inexpensive meal. But we knew that going in. The cost may turn some people off, but this was a fantastic meal with some wonderful staff. I don't play video games too much anymore. And I don't remember the Pac Man song. But I love food, and I know that if you do as well you'll love Brine!

I tried the wine flight (Riesling, Cab Sav and an employees choice) which was delicious and a great way to try multiple options to find what you like. Also tried the frozen strawberry frozen marg which I unfortunately did not enjoy. It didn't have a lot of strawberry flavor, it tastes more like cherry medicine. Do want to mention that when it gets busy, it may be hard to find parking and the area is pretty sketchy (I didn't feel safe parking far and having to walk over. One time a homeless guy was yelling at me when I was walking on the sidewalk), so just be mindful and careful if you do park far and having to walk.

I was so excited to go to Taverna. My friend and I decided to go yesterday afternoon. Looking at the menu I did think it was a bit pricey for what was being offered but there are occasions where a Cuban can be worth $12 if it's just THAT good. First of all, the waiter was less than average. It took nearly 5 minutes for him to even come to the table. When he did he asked if we wanted water and brought that. The water is REALLY bad. I always order water so I am picky. I actually like to drink water. I did not like to drink that water...ewww. I expected more. When he finally came I asked what he recommended and he said the Hanger Steak with Parmesan Truffle Fries so my friend and I both went with that. It was $15 which isn't crazy expensive but it is a little pricey. The food came out and I expected it to be a thin steak but it was chunks. He recommended medium rare - which I normally do medium. But the steak showed up rare. Almost walked off my plate. The waiter didn't come back for a LONG time. He didn't bring the food or check on us. I ate the few pieces that were properly cooked and some fries. When he did come he asked about the steak and I told him it was pretty rare. He took it back to recook it which was fine with me. But it came back out via another person and it was STILL rare just not as rare. At that point I gave up on the steak. He never checked back. He came about 15 minutes later and grabbed our plates without asking if we were done, did we want a box (a lot of food left) or anything. By the way my friend had the same problems I did. It was just weird. I've never had a waiter be so disconnected. It's not like he was rude. He wasn't. Just not present or attentive at all. Okay - now the food. It was just okay. The stead had NO flavor except the charring. When I have to salt my steak I know we have a problem! The fries were crispy - and they were good. I didn't taste much truffle oil but the Parmesan was there and it was good. Just overall didn't think it was a $15 ($18 w tip which he's lucky he got anything) experience. I doubt I'd go back unless someone just really wanted to go. Oh and before I forget, if you have any allergy to cedar wood this is NOT the place for you. I have a mildly sensitive nose and the cedar scent was strong. I don't think it's sealed in any way. I'm sure it's supposed to add to the ambiance but when you are seated directly next to a cedar 'wall' it can be intense. read more

To paraphrase a GREAT philosopher of the modern world: "they insist upon themself." I say that as it doesn't matter what time of day it is or if there isn't a single customer in the place, they're going to ask you if you have a reservation. It was so ridiculous that it quickly became a joke between my wife and I over the last 15-ish years. While it always kind of rubbed me the wrong way, the food and service were always great so it never put me off enough to avoid. I will also say that this used to be my family's go-to spot, but like many restaurants post-COVID, the quality has gone down significantly. We occasionally still eat there because we live in the neighborhood and it's one of the only food/drink places in the San Marco square that doesn't smell like the toilet overflowed (looking at you The Loop and Starbucks). Recently, though, we had a dinner that wasn't fantastic. In fact, it was pretty disappointing. Our truffle fries were okay, but it was obvious that some of them were burnt leftovers from the previous fry, or the oil was old, as I'd have the occasional bite that charcoal-ish. My ribeye was probably the worst cut I've had since the baseball cut filet at The Brick in 2016, and it was exacerbated by the fact that I ordered rare and received blue. There was so much gristle and fat that I started to question the sharpness of my knife. At one point I was just trying to see if I could get through a strip of the fat and I made that nails-on-a-chalkboard sound with my knife. The smashed potatoes sucked the moisture out of my mouth, the asparagus was basically raw, and the mushrooms were tough and tasted far more earthy that I was accustomed to. My wife ordered the smoked chicken and it was dry. And I don't mean dry like "it's just white meat, it's always dry." I understand how tenuous moisture in chicken can be, but there was a hard fibrous layer on the outside of the dark meat, about a centimeter thick. The inside was a bit more tender, but it was a desert in there. Service was still good. We never wanted for water or booze, and our server was charismatic, attentive, and funny. This visit was a 1-star for sure, but in general I still think they average about a 3-star review. read more

It was packed so I was very excited to have some great Italian food. Firstly, I must commend them for being an excellent choice for individuals with food allergies. The option to customize the meats and cheeses on the charcuterie board per person was truly remarkable. In fact, everything included on the board was exceptionally delicious. Moving on to the appetizers, I highly recommend the shrimp garlic dish, as it was truly delectable. However, I found the mussels and clams special to be slightly underwhelming due to its bland sauce. Perhaps a spicier marinara would have enhanced the flavors more effectively. Although I did not personally try it, I heard positive feedback from someone who opted for the gluten-free pasta. They claimed it was one of the best gluten-free pastas they had ever tasted. Unfortunately, my choice of the carbonara with lobster and crab did not meet my expectations. It turned out to be overly salty, and I realized in hindsight that combining cheese with seafood may not have been the wisest choice. When it comes to the wine selection, particularly Italian wines in an Italian restaurant, I believe there is an expectation for them to be outstanding, especially when they offer a few options by the glass. Unfortunately, the chianti I ordered fell short of delivering an enjoyable taste. On a positive note, our waiter provided excellent service, efficiently managing our table despite the extended wait time of approximately an hour between appetizers and the main course. As for dessert, the chocolate crème brulee proved to be a delightful conclusion to the meal. Reflecting on the overall experience, it was a mixture of ups and downs. In hindsight, I should have chosen the Bolognese dish, as I had the opportunity to taste it from someone else's plate and found it to be truly exceptional. In conclusion, while the dining experience had its moments of delight, there were certain aspects that fell short of expectations. Nonetheless, I believe exploring alternative menu options could lead to a more satisfying meal in the future. read more
