Recently checked out Taz Matcha and it was really cool! Long line, but didn't take too long to get going. Staff all seemed very friendly. Thought it was super quality in the way they made their Matcha from the measuring, to whisking, etc. we got strawberry matcha's unsweetened. I do think the sugar level menu could be refined a bit as it could get confusing, I also think they could add some more flavors, but overall a cool spot. Loved my matcha latte!! I get it with zero sweetness, and felt that it wasn't overly bitter and grassy even with no sugar included. They have special cream tops each week, so I got their pistachio special flavor, which complimented the matcha flavor profile so well. They also have traditional flavors such as matcha and hojicha which are always available. They also have bar seating where you can visibly see the lattes being made, super cool! Located in Downtown. Parking wasn't bad at all at ~8:15am. A lot more parking opens up at 9am in the downtown area. Small line, less than 5 orders in front of me. I've seen a larger line in the afternoon so it can get busy. You can see them hand whisk the matcha in front of you. Staff are friendly and will explain the menu to you. There's an option to add an additional 2 grams of matcha, which you don't see often. The space is quite small. I wouldn't really come here to study or work. There are chairs in a bar seating style. And 2 tables to sit at if preferred. Well decorated and pretty. I ordered an iced Matcha Latte w Whole Milk, Agave Syrup + Matcha Cream Too at 100% sweetness. I personally like my Matcha sweet + creamy so this really fit my standards! But, I personally don't know how much the matcha cream top added to the drink. I would have to try it without to compare. When we got inside (dining in), we sat at the bar for the full experience. Our baristas were very knowledgeable about the differences and recommendations for our tastes! The matcha itself was lovely and really solid umami. You could customize everything (amount of matcha, milk, sweetener, and sweetness) and ask any questions that comes up. Our drinks were made in front of us and they came out quickly. They take their careful time for each cup, so the wait may be long when you're lining up. But overall, it's so worth it. Our "matcha tender" was very insightful on the different types of matcha they had available and gave great recommendations on how the sweetness levels worked since I really wanted more of an earthy taste to my drink. I got a hot matcha latte with the floral type matcha. The matcha powder was not mixed well before being added to the milk. There were a bunch of clumps stuck to the inside of the cup. Really liked this matcha place when I visited with my SO. The line was not too bad and the internal layout reminded me of Asha in SF. We had grabbed some masalada from another bakery before heading here. Very nice, minimalist feel inside. The matcha also is what I'd recommend. When I went there were 3 kinds of matcha: 1. Chiran, 2. Chashi, and 3. Shogun I wanted to add milk, syrup and cream tops to mine, so I decided not to go with the Shogun. We got: 1. Chashi Blend, Matcha latte iced with whole milk, jasmine syrup (1/2 sweet), and salted vanilla cream top, 2. Hojicha latte iced, whole milk, agave 1/2 sweet, and black sesame cream top. I absolutely would recommend both, though I liked my Chashi blend the best. If the salted vanilla wasn't available, I would have gone with the match cream top. If I'm in the area again I might want to try the red bean chiran matcha iced. I am very curious about the Shogun but likely will need to be a cold day to try that one. read more
