I had a Dream. A Dream of Growing Up In Houston in the late 70s and 80s. That dream got even more colorful and fun in March when the snow cone stands would start popping up on every other corner. The dream would last until at least December. Since, everyone knows that there are only two Season in Houston. Summer and FEBRUARY. I never understood why snow cone stands were so scarce in this area. They used to be on every corner growing up. I think I lived in DFW for 8 months before I found a snow cone... all the way over in Farmers Branch. I left work today. It's Friday. We are off every other Friday and the Friday we do work, we leave at 4pm. It was beautiful outside. I rolled down the windows and at the next red light I sent a mass-text message to the girls. "Its The Weekend. And I wanna Snow Cone" Jen, still at work, jumped on Yelp and found TC Shaved Ice for me. Corner of Park and Ave K. Small little square building in the the Fiesta Food Mart parking lot. Drive Up Windows on either side and a WalkUp window in front. The drive up lines were wrapped around the building on both sides. I ordered my favorite. Pina Colada... with CREAM. $2.00 for a medium + 0.25 for the cream. Tax Included. Man, was I surprised when she handed me styrofoam cup. I ordered a medium and got 16 oz. Um, for $2? Seriously? They also offer Blue Bell and have a concoction known as a KnockOut which is vanilla Blue Bell with your favorite snow cone mixed in. Um... I wanna try that. Sounds like something Sonic would have dreamed up. I'm so glad I finally quenched my snow cone craving. Just be ware.. this is a CASH only establishment. read more

Love it. LOVE it. Elotes here is incredible. Perfec tmix of corn, creamy, and spicy. The shaved ice has made me a convert. Super saturated shaved ice cups turn your mouth colors and stain someone else's Jetta seats....ah memories. We were looking for a run-of-the-mill snocone place near Allen. The reviews looked promising for this place. Overall, you can get a decent snocone here. We subtracted two stars for the following: -1: The wait. We only had two cars in front of us and no walk-ups, but we were in line for 20 minutes. Just a little slow for my tastes. -1: Lack of syrup. I would say this was simply a preference point, but I'm pretty sure everyone would at a minimum like syrup throughout all of the ice. We got smalls, and both my wife and I were missing syrup in the middle. And I mean literally no syrup. Just a block of plain ice from the edge of the cup to about halfway down the cup. Would have subtracted one more star for the following points, but I can't give two stars for something I completely finished: - They add tax to the prices. I know this is a minor complaint, but in 30 years of eating snocones, I can't remember ever paying anything other than the listed price. Minor complaint, but there's something comforting about seeing $2 and actually paying $2. - The ice isn't very consistent. Some of it was very smooth. Some of it not so much. My wife actually had four marble-sized chunks in hers. Again, you can get a pretty standard snocone here; however, we'll probably continue our search. read more

FOR SURE the best snow-cone place i've found in the north-of-dallas-suburbs area. So soft and fluffy and the syrups have the perfect level of sweetness. Sometimes they go a little to heavy on the syrup but that's way better than a snow cone that's too dry. Pina Colada is definitely my favorite, but the McKinney location has Mango.. Went through the drive-through may be about five minutes ago, the lady was nice enough, made my corn in a cup which is the only thing I ordered. First off, the corn is nice and warm, a good amount of butter and cheese. I did ask for salsa as most places give you sauce on the side or is visible on top. I ate a few spoonfuls without it and the corn was fine, once I put the little tub of sauce she gave me on it it was disgusting. I don't know if that little tub of sauce was no good anymore but it completely ruined the corn in a cup. Completely disappointed as I was craving one very badly. read more

I bought a large sour apple shaved ice here and it was pretty meh. The flavor wasn't very distinctive - it mostly just tasted sweet. It's also, like others have said, not a proper snow cone. It's "shaved ice" and it more resembles a slushie. However, I gave it an extra star for its elotes, which were quite good - better than Fuel City's for sure. You can tell the corn isn't freshly shucked, but I really like the seasoning they used. Not only do they use hot sauce, but also what I think was paprika. It added a lot of flavor and spice, making it really quite spicy. I do intend to go back because they also served other items that I'm curious about, such as shaved ice paired with ice cream, which I had never seen before. They also have a number of Mexican slushie options. Maybe I'll even give a different flavor shaved ice a shot. read more

I love TC's. I have been coming here since I was a teenager. The wait is crazy, I would always recommend walking up to the window. It's a lot faster. Tons of flavors to choose from and the 'knockout' with ice cream on top and bottom of the shaved ice is amazing. Always order extra syrup, the. You get juicy flavored ice with every bite. I come to this place quite often. The flavors are pretty good, but for the last few times I have been the flavors seemed to have been weakened. I like the fact that they offer more than just snow cones. They also offer ice cream, nachos, and a Mexican corn dish. This place is cash only, so know that before you go. They also have two drive up windows and a walk up window. They share the same parking lot with Fiesta @ the corner of Parker and K Ave. It is a tiny place and if you go too fast you may drive past. Great place to get a snow cone! Flavors are great and the ice is shaved very well. The lady at the counter made excellent flavor combination suggestions. Try the ninja turtle..... it is amazing! Two things prevented this from being 5 stars.... the wait time and the sizes. I have been by this little gem twice and both times the wait was long. There are two sides to drive up to but it still makes for a long wait. Second is the sizes or snow cones. Their small is 12 oz. I've been a patron of TC Shaved Ice since I was a wee lass in 2nd grade -- and I'm currently in my senior year of college. I was delighted to learn that there was a TC near my house after we moved to Plano in 2000. I absolutely adore this establishment. The ice is flavorful, the prices are cheap... really, what more could you want? I grew up on the Dreamsicle and now thrive on the Ninja Turtle. Hey so shaved ice in the summer is great especially in the hot Texas heat. I've been here twice and on my first visit I got a watermelon shaved ice. The ice was so fine like snow I practically drank half of it. Recently I came to try their elote and nacho both cost less than $3. The nacho wasn't good too salty, I gulped down 1/2 gallon of water after eating a tenth of the plate. The elote was good! The corn and other ingredients that went into it created a nice taste. The elote is served warm and consists mostly of corn and cheese. Just to warn those going on the weekend, you might have to wait in a line of cars. Otherwise standing outside and ordering at the front is another option. I will definitely come back for another pick at the shaved ice. read more

The shaved ice is very soft and creamy. Which is excellent but I think they put a little too much flavor juice in it and the flavors taste kinda strange like they come from Mexico. I dunno. I love going to TC Shaved Ice. It's in my barrio so I can't go wrong. They have ton's of flavors and is not like St. Louis shaved ice where you run out of flavor/juice and left with dilluted ice. They give you a lot of flavor/juice per the amount of ice so it's good til the end. The ice consitency is usually very smooth like a soft serve ice. I'm a big fan of the magonadas.
