I could taste the tea very well but it was smoother/lighter due to the honey being added. Boba was soft, sweet, and chewy as well. I got 75% sweet but could've gone for 50% since it was still pretty sweet. Lychee black tea - We could taste the lychee a lot more in the beginning but started tasting it less after a while..... turns out there was an actual tea bag in the drink! I had time to kill while waiting for a table at yue huang ... but not 30 mins! Service was unorganized, inconsiderate and seemingly negligent.... For only 1 drink. After 15 mins of watching multiple orders placed after me being filled, I was asked to wait another 5 while they were "working on it" which really translated into "leave me alone". 25 mins in, I asked for a refund. This is my brother's favorite boba spot and I can see why! Their tea is definitely really good - I've tried boba in Taiwan and comparing Tea 18 to the ones in Taiwan, they're pretty similar. I don't know how I feel about the boba because I've had better in the area, but their fruit teas are definitely some of the best I've tried. They were really quick to take my order and greeted me when I walked in, which was nice. This is definitely one of the better boba shops within the Sacramento area. I've been coming here for about five years now, and their quality has never declined. This spot is mainly good for to-go orders since there aren't many tables available. They have one huge table in the center of the shop, but it's almost always taken, and it feels a bit odd sitting with strangers at the same table. They also have available seating by the window side, but it's always occupied and the order line begins in that area. Like I said, we mostly grab our orders to go. They only sell drinks--no snacks available. I usually order their fruit tea and ice-blended selections, but I have to be really specific with my adjustments because the drinks can be quite sweet. Something we've noticed recently is that they charge extra if you ask for less ice, which was a bit of a turn-off. All in all, this is an excellent spot to grab cold drinks in the summer and warm ones in the winter. Finding a decent boba spot that offers plant-based milks is hard to come by outside of the Bay Area. The boba tea here was refreshing and hit the spot! I ended up getting a Jasmine green milk tea with boba - 50% sweet, regular ice. The boba had a nice chewy texture. Although the price point is a little higher than I would like to pay, I continue to pay it because Tea 18 is the only spot close by that has smashed fresh taro that they smear on the bottom of your cup as a topping. It was my first trip there. I got a honey milk tea and it tasted nothing like honey. I asked the person behind the counter, "Hey, just double checking, this was the honey milk tea, right? I'm not really tasting any honey from it so I want to make sure I didn't grab the wrong thing or misspeak" and she seemed a little annoyed I asked and said it was right. Maybe their honey is just really not honeyish? The drink was gray and tasted pretty much exactly like a black sugar drink, so I suspect that's what they actually gave me. We've ordered from here through Doordash before and it was ok. The other day we stopped by to get a wintermelon lemon tea, and it was pretty good! That tempted us to go back in today. This is located in a shopping/restaurant plaza, so there are lots of parking, although the spots are a bit tight. Due to covid, there are no seats or tables for sitting in. This time we ordered the strawberry grapefruit twist iced tea. You have the option to customize your drink, so I did less ice and 30% sweet, with aloe. To me, it was very sweet and taste like i was drinking candy sugar water, lol. I think next time I'll stick to my usual. Staff was friendly and nice. Though due to the plastic shield between the workers and customers and the masks, it was difficult to hear the workers. My first time here, I got the Mango green tea with boba 50% sweet and it was perfect! It was so refreshing on a hot day and the boba was sweet and had the perfect texture :) Make sure to check in to Yelp for 10% off! I heard their drinks are on the sweeter side and that's pretty accurate, their 50% taste like other places 100% sweetness, and that's coming from someone with a sweet tooth. You can always ask the employees if they recommend lowering the sweetness and they'll usually know. My friend ordered it with 70% sugar to avoid the extreme sweetness that wintermelon milk tea typically has, but it did not meet our expectations. It also tasted a bit watered down. If you want to get strong, fresh brewed tea, Tea 18 is the place. I have stopped by at least a dozen times to imbibe their fantastic options, milk, fruit and soft sea salt creme teas and the quality never wavers. All the tea is fresh brewed, the way it should be IMHO. They also offer specialty tea blends, brewed right in front of you, hot or cold. They have a special "green mountain tea" which is a light green tea but still has strong flavor, with less caffeine. They have a wonderful menu and the crew has always been extremely helpful, and NICE! I usually order a classic black milk tea ( they offer real milk as an option) with boba. I have had other items but the black tea remains my favorite. As for the balls, you all know I need good boba balls to complete my drink- and I am happy to report they are perfection in consistency and chewiness. Gave this place another try after eating Yue Huang for brunch. Ordered the Okinawa Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Boba at 50% and it's still *pretty* sweet but the flavor of the drink was really good. My friend ordered the Matcha Latte at 30% and it is a lighter drink option after a heavy brunch. She liked it a lot! The matcha flavor was good and although we read one review that felt like theirs wasn't mixed well... we felt the drink was fine. There were no globs of powder in the drink (unlike some other places). There is a slight matcha grainy texture (as what I expect usually from matcha drinks) and some of the powder did collect at the bottom (but again, I am not surprised). I'm not in Natomas often, but I'd gladly stop by again for the Okinawa or the Matcha Latte. Maybe I'll try something new next time too. We stumbled on this local Boba Tea shop during a pass through the town. And we were ecstatic to find a legit boba place that is not a franchise in the area. The staff here were very friendly and helpful. The interior provided unique spaces to hang out and play games including table top fooseball and the universal favorite Jenga. The only downside is there is only one large table with benches and chairs and one small corner table with accent chairs. Once these are taken as they were on our visit, you are relegated to the four waiting area chairs or four plastic chairs awkwardly placed alongside a back wall. However, the drinks more than make up for the seating situation. We ordered our usual oolong milk tea and found new favorites in the ice blended mango with added vanilla ice cream and a High Mountain Green Tea. All were delicious, creamy and refreshing. My go-to boba spot after indulging in glutinous food at the Yue Huang restaurant nearby, and bc it's the only boba shop in the area. I usually come here on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon after dim sum. During that time it's usually packed with people, which is a clear indicator for me that I'm going to wait 10+ mins for my beverage. Tea 18 has a pretty simple menu: the milky drinks, the fruity teas, blended smoothies and the premium high quality stuff. They tend to keep their ingredients 1 hunnid; so no artifical additives or sizzurp. You can adjust your ice and sweetness to your liking. I mainly gravitate towards the fruity drinks because they typically add in some real fruity bits. Passion Fruit and the High Mountain tea w/ Pomelo are my faves. It's also mandatory for me to add in boba. The consistency, flavor and texture of the boba is always on point btw. I've had the popular white peach oolong but wasn't a fan of it, do to the fact that they left a big tea bag in thus taking away some of the volume of the drank. Don't know if that was intentional or nah? Aside from that, I didn't enjoy that drink, it tasted too concentrated. I'll prolly give it another shot in the future and adjust the sweetness. An upside to Tea 18 is the 10% off check in offer. Downside is the wait time for orders can be long on weekends. Like sit-down-and-grab-a-cup-of-water long, like my-very-Asian-mom-is-coming-inside-to-wonder-why-it's-taking-so-long, long. Subsequently, she'll sit down and ask for the WiFi password because it's taking so long. As I said earlier, the average time is about 10+ minutes. However, the last two times I've been in, the wait was about 5 min. Not bad not bad. They stepping up the speed or maybe I come in at the right time before the masses come. Overall, love the drinks tea 18 whips up, they're reasonably priced. Simple decor and plenty of seating.
