Would you pay $192 a pound for lobster? Just heard that the Hudson Yards Mall reopened September 8, after being closed by the pandemic for six months. I've only been here once, before the pandemic, eating at the Teak Tearoom on the bottom floor. Not memorable except that as it was located right across from the ultra pricey Fendi store, the Italian designer whom Yelper Henri V of Beverly Hills named her dog after. I ordered the $24 lobster roll, and the wife ordered the $19 roasted chicken club sandwich, along with a $6 cream of broccoli soup. Never tasted the cream of broccoli soup as wife slurped it up in record time, just after I barely got a picture of it. The lobster roll came with a few chunks of lobster, celery, onion and lemon on a toasted bun with chips. Tiny, not even as long as the plastic fork that came as a utensil. Seemed like more filler than lobster. The bun was twice as large as the lobster. No more than 2 ounces of lobster, which makes this $192 a pound for lobster. The chicken club sandwich, at least twice the size of the lobster roll, came with chicken breast, bacon, avocado on a sourdough bread, along with chips. Delicious, which I grabbed a bite out of, after giving new meaning to gone in 60 seconds to the lobster roll. Excellent presentation, good service, but overpriced even by New York City standards, plastic utensils, with no outside view of the Vessel, and miniscule portion sizes. But they have to pay the sky high rent in this mall, which opened up only in March 2019. read more

This was quite a nice place to casually sit down and get together with friends for afternoon tea/light snacks, but also available for lunch/dinner if you're in the mood. Hidden and underrated amidst all the big brand shops and coffee shops, this little tearoom offers you a nice place to sit and enjoy some light food if you're in between meals. The food was very good while the tea was good looking / Instagram friendly but nothing super special. In terms of food: I recommend ordering the Deviled eggs and Provençal roasted chicken tartine - both tasted very good - right amount of savoriness and very fresh. The chocolate cake by Bouchon Bakery was a bit heavy, and you can also directly purchase this from the bakery if you really wanted to try. In terms of beverages: I really like how the butterfly white tea looked, purple in a pretty glass - but it really just tastes like water. The organic citrus green tea was quite good - they give you a whole pot, which is a good portion if you plan to spend the afternoon sitting and catch up with friends. The cafe latte was also good - but nothing out of the ordinary. I would say this place is slightly on the pricier side, but it's quite normal given that it's situated right inside of a big mall. Not to mention the other food and beverage places in this mall are slightly higher priced compared to other locations. Overall it is a good place to chill, relax, and catch up with friends after the tourist activities and shopping. read more

Incredible new find! I always take a shortcut and walk through Hudson yards to get to equinox and back through to get home, and I would always pass by this tea room, an addition of the Conservatory. I would always see people lounging around, drinking great tea and munching on pastries, and knew I needed to make my way here someday. Finally, I made plans w a friend to come here one Sunday afternoon for tea/crosswords. I got there around 4:30 and all the tables were full but I was able to rush and snag one as a family left. I ordered one of their organic tea offerings, the turmeric, and it was brought out to me at the perfect temperature and was so delicious. My friend ordered a latte and although it came out super late, he noted that it was absolutely delicious. We spent a couple hours catching up and working out our brains over a NYT crossword, and it was a beautiful eVVwnning. The decor is beautiful, and I love that they have a wide selectIon of tea, coffee, drinks, and even fresh made ciders. I'll definitely be back here to do work and/or catch up w friends! read more

Stumbled onto this place by accident with a friend last year, but the experience was so forgettable, I....well, forgot....to write a review. The decor is lovely, but the tea and food are as overpriced and unremarkable as you'd expect for a Hudson Yards mall spot. I regret to say this experience was terrible. While the coffee was solid, the service will permanently drive me away. Entrance: I came in on a Saturday around 5pm to get some coffee and the door was locked even though there are people sitting inside the store and outside the store. After the waiters saw me struggling to open the door, one of them came over to open it and I asked if they were closed and they replied "no, we're open" and let me in. Ordering: Following that, I tried ordered the Green cold pressed juice and they told me it has run out. Trying to order an alternative juice, I asked if there is sugar in it, and the MALE waiter with BLOND hair brought out the bottle put it in front of me and legit said "here, you can read it yourself". I'm usually a fair reviewer and from out of the area SO I try to be understanding. It is given that it is a high volume area with a lot of tourists that is doing a lot of nonsensical and unpleasant things like sitting where the signs specifically asked not to or spilling over liquids and not cleaning up after themselves, BUT locking the door and not putting up a sign and then rudely telling me to read the bottle after I had nicely asked a logical question; a simple "no/yes"/ "not sure"/ "let me find out"/"I'll bring it out for you if you'd like to check" any of these responses would've been appropriate. I actually still tipped him even though he was rude because it was the polite thing to do on a bill, but please aware that he did NOT deserved it. It looked like he is upset with another waiter that is working simultaneously as they were grudgingly throwing harsh comments at each other. I get you don't get along with your coworkers sometimes but you are still at work and representing your store. Even after coffee: I actually was the first of my group on this visit to find coffee here, but because it was so terrible I had nothing nice to say or recommendations for it. Upon hearing our story and peered in the store when they see the waiter slamming bottles and aggressively scooping coffee; they opted to go further upstairs to Blue Bottle instead and they had such a better experience. If there is an owner that is reading this, PLEASE help evaluate your employees if you do not want to lose any future customers. No paying customers deserve this kind of treatment, and no coffee is worth this demeanor from a worker. I didn't get a name from the waiters because I was so disturbed and just wanted to leave after I got my order. But the waiters that were working from 5pm-7pm on Saturday 2/22/2020 need to be identified and I'll be more than happy to have any further explanation on this visit if anyone would like to know. read more

I've been here several times, and I think it's perfect for what it is. Last time, I actually had tea, which I loved, but the coffee is good as well. I haven't eaten there yet but I will soon. I've enjoyed it as a place to relax midday, and regroup while reading work papers. I enjoy the ambiance, decor, and delightful staff. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open for so long because I love Tea and a place where you can find a large selection of teas, and maybe juice as well. However my particular experience wasn't so great but I know this place has lots of potential to get better, I decided to go a couple of days after the menu had just changed and I feel like a lot of that has to do with why every dish we had tasted overly salty, it was a bit overwhelming, and very unbalanced we literally had like 4 different tartines, and they were all unbearable now that's pretty disappointing when a simple lunch comes out to $120 bucks for super simple food, the seating was super limited, there's no bathroom inside the establishment, the service was a bit whacky even though there's only like 9 tables and, the cold brew tea I had just tasted like lemonade, now I really like the idea of what this tea room is trying to do, and see lots of potential. Hopefully they dial everything down soon because nobody wants to feel like they've overspent on something that did not deliver. read more

I try to order water for kids but they only have sparkling water. The size was too big so instead we ordered "fresh" lemonade which wasn't fresh at all. We ordered two lemonades which costs a WHOPPING 15 dollars! Will not go again! read more

Absolutely amazing. $10 for a pot of tea that you can share and get 2 or 3 cups out of. Lobster rolls absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The salads are freshly made and the chicken is grilled to perfection. Everything about this atmosphere is amazing from the servers to the hostess to the people next door in their store. I visited TEAK Tearoom on August 5, 2019 with my parents and 8 year-old son. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. I had a delicious, fresh salad with grilled chicken, and the rest of my family had sandwiches. All of the food seemed fresh and was nicely presented. We had attentive service, including refills on the tea. The inside of the cafe was clean and quiet, away from the bustle of Hudson Yards. This was a perfect spot to have a relaxing lunch after walking the High Line. read more

At the beginning, we enjoyed our food and the beautiful environment. But later we found a transparent particle from the tomato soup, I thought it was a shrimp shell, so I just putted it away. I was shocked that there was another particle in the soup, it was so strange, so we tried to bend it, and pretty sure it was a plastic, around 1.5 cm long. We told the waitress, and she said will bring it to the manager. The waitress was gone with the dishes which had the plastic particle. We thought maybe there would be some explanation or apology coming up. However nothing. We asked for check and paid. We were so upset and couldn't contain our frustration, we waved to the manager. When we told him what happened and they didn't even offer an apology, he was like, I saw the food were all gone, and we told chef ... He did apologized but not so sincerely tho. I'd give it even less than one star if I could but to be fair I never ate there. We went there yesterday afternoon for late lunch/early supper. When we approached a young woman who appeared to be the hostess she said in an almost whisper, "Unfortunately, we're not serving now. We are short-staffed.". A group of guys approached her after us and got the same weird response. We ate elsewhere in Hudson Yards & walked by about an hour later on our way out. People appeared to have been served and were eating!! To be sure we won't give it another chance. A better response for the low-talker would have been, "We're a bit understaffed right now but if you'd indulge us with your patience we'll get you served as soon as we can.". Then we could have made the informed decision whether to stay or to go. Certainly, if we had left we would plan to return at a later date. Now they just left a bad taste in our mouths without serving us any food!! read more

Teak at Hudson Yards. Looked beautiful from the outside so we went in for a pastry and coffee. Right away, this was all a facade and fake as the plants that decorate the space. The register person forgot parts of the order (of 4 items) and had to ring in the rest of the order upon reminder on a seperate check. Waited 15min for coffee that was full of grinds and tasted more like water essenced with coffee. We def were not the only ones waiting for our orders as a crowd had formed by the pick-up counter. The server announcing the drinks was feeling the pressure from falling behind and was getting impatient with customers. As I was going up the escalator, I peered into the barista station and saw they had a 1-grouphead home espresso machine - no wonder they were falling behind and the drinks crap. Maybe teak should've spent less money on the decor and invested in a machine that can actually service good coffee. Utterly disappointed. Management clearly does not have their priorities straight. read more
