    Iced skim cappuccino
    Seby I.

After visiting a museum, Helga and I wanted refreshments. On my way I had noticed Kona Coffee Roasters and so we went there. This was our first time here. The interior was bright and modern with some customers. We took turns ordering as we had got seats and didn't want to lose the table. I had an iced skim cappuccino and Helga had a hot one. Sangam (Nepalese) and Namkha (Bhutanese) took our orders and made the coffees. I was able to speak in Hindi to both of them which is always a pleasure all round. We changed tables to sit peacefully in the back and enjoyed our coffees and conversation. A clean gender neutral restroom with a code was located in the back. Next time Namkha suggested that I order the Hawaiian Latte. I am looking forward to a return visit.

Delicious coffee and pastries served here! Customer service/interaction was just okay but luckily we enjoyed our orders so that was kinda overlooked. Inside was spacious and even has a second floor! Restrooms are cleaning and needs a passcode as its for customers only. Inside is nicely spaced and overall loved the flow over there. Close location to Grand Central too.

    Iced matcha with oat milk

Go-to matcha spot in the area with the quality of matcha as well as the matcha to milk ratio (changes sometimes depending on the barista but generally pretty good). I typically don't need any sweeteners either unless I'm feeling a lil maple flavor that day which I highly recommend. The iced coconut matcha is also good and is less sweet than a normal one with oat milk imo since the coconut milk feels lighter and more water-based. They handle the morning rush hour super well too, it always moves so quickly! Would def try their pastries one day like their banana houjicha bread.

Kona Coffee Roasters is a great spot for any remote worker! The vibe is very refreshing, super clean, and bright. They were decked out for the holidays, and I loved the walls of fairy lights everywhere. It adds to the inviting atmosphere. There are 2 floors full of seating and ample outlets everywhere. The coffee is also amazing! I wasn't sure what to expect when ordering a Hawaiian latte, but it was delicious. I simply had to order two! I also ordered the ham and cheese croissant, which was good. It was a little pricey, but that's expected when you're in Midtown - right in front of Grand Central.

Stepping into Kona Coffee in the middle of NYC feels like catching a little wave of warmth straight from Hawaii. The vibe is so refreshing -- light, airy, and full of that easy island energy that instantly transports you somewhere tropical, even when it's chilly fall weather outside. I ordered the strawberry matcha, and wow -- so fresh, vibrant, and beautifully balanced. The subtle sweetness of the strawberry paired perfectly with the smooth matcha; it's definitely one of those drinks that's as photogenic as it is delicious. They also have a great selection of pastries, all displayed so temptingly that it's impossible not to grab one (or two). Everything feels thoughtfully crafted and high quality -- exactly the kind of care you'd expect from a true coffee lover's spot. Kona Coffee is the kind of café that makes you forget you're in the city for a moment. A warm reminder of Hawaiian sands and sunshine, right in the heart of NYC.

    Hawaiian Latte and Lavender Latte

I wasn't sure what was in the Hawaiian latte but I definitely tasted coconut syrup! My mom got the lavender latte and my dad got the 100% Kona drip. I like how there were two levels so you can sit upstairs.

The peppermint mocha was beautiful and coffee tasted pretty good. The peppermint flavor unfortunately wasn't strong at all. Big shop and ambiance was nice. Unfortunately the service was not good since I asked for the hot chocolate but just accepted the mocha instead.

Food/drinks: love their specialty drinks & their pastries! I've come often enough and have never been disappointed. Their signature Hawaiian latte & matcha latte are my favorites Atmosphere: Looovveee this cafe! I want to gate keep it haha - good for working with lots of seating, wifi, and outlets! There's 2 floors! Service: very fast!! Price: as expected!

Coffee is good, verrry sweet though. The sweetness and coconut flavor of the Hawaiian Latte (w/ oat milk $9) almost overpowers the coffee flavor. Also tried the Brazilian Cheese Bread, which has a strong cheese flavor, but it's definitely a small portion for $6.

Such a great coffee and matcha spot! I usually get my matcha here every morning and it's definitely one of the better places in the city - they put a good amount of matcha so it doesn't feel like you're drinking green milk. The matcha comes unsweetened which I appreciate because a lot of places add in sugar and you end up racking up so much added sugar. I tried the Hawaiian latte just to switch things up and it was delicious! Can't go wrong with anything you order here!

This cafe is always buzzing. It's a great place to take out your laptop and get some work done or meet a friend for a coffee. The two times I've stopped in have always been because I showed up to my dentist's appointment wayyyy to early (you just never know what the trek from Jersey will look like!) and wanted to find a spot with strong wifi for awhile. Kona is honestly pretty perfect for exactly that. On my last visit, I stopped in around 4PM, ordered the prosciutto & arugula sandwich and a hot matcha latte and found the only empty table on the bottom level. (At this point I did not realize there was an upstairs filled with seating!) It was very loud, very busy, filled with people and tough to hear the orders as they shouted them out. This resulted in me running back and forth from one end of the cafe where my table was to the door where they placed finished orders. Only a little tedious, but after I got my order I was ready to sit and work. The prosciutto and arugula sandwich was actually pretty great and blew away all my expectations. I was a little weary about ordering a $17 sandwich from a coffee shop, but it came on delicious french bread, a very generous amount of prosciutto and even those little pickles. It was a delicious sandwich. My matcha latte was also a perfect pick me up treat at like $7. I was there for awhile so towards the end of the visit, I got a hot tumeric & ginger tea because I was veryyyy cold and needed a little something to warm up. Simple and delicious and always my go to! All and all, a great (but expensive) cafe! Lots of tables, full food and drink menu, strong wifi and a clean space.

The Hawaiian iced latte hits everytime! I came here during the workday and there were quite a lot of people upstairs and downstairs.

I was at this quaint tea shop east of Koreatown earlier in the evening before going to a meal at the excellent new Thai place, Wanglang. The staff was very friendly, and they specialize in matcha, along with having hojicha, genmaicha, black tea, and sencha. Along with more traditional drinks, they also have fruit options as well as black sugar jelly (I presume kuromitsu) and a Japanese citrus that's not seen much here, hyuganatsu. Along with the citrus, this place is rather unique as they had three different matcha options in terms of variety. As I tend to prefer teas pure and without add-ons, I ordered the Matcha Americano, which is simply matcha and water. I went with the 12-oz version for $6 + tax and ordered the Hajime, though I would likely get the Fuku No Midori next time based on descriptions online. The matcha was solid and had a mild sweetness and a light earthiness. However, it lacked some of the mouth coating found in very high-quality drinks from Sorate or Setsugekka, while being similar in price. Still, that is comparing to some of the best, and this was still very tasty and a lot better than 90% of the places in the city, being more comparable to Kettl. I wouldn't mind going back and ordering the other matcha varietal to see whether that is a better comparison. Outside of this, I enjoyed my drink, and the staff was friendly. I hope they do well.

The space is extremely compact, functioning more like a takeout counter than a café, with only minimal room inside. The main focus here is matcha, with a distinctive approach that lets you choose between three blends: Hinata, which leans creamy and nutty; Hajime, which is more smoky and earthy; and a more traditional-style matcha profile. Drinks like the mango matcha show how they play with these bases, though fruit purées can sometimes overshadow the matcha depending on the combination. They also offer matcha powder for home use and occasional fresh pastries that add a warm, baked aroma to the space. Service is one of the strongest parts of the experience. The staff is consistently warm, attentive, and willing to explain the differences between blends in detail. The atmosphere is cozy but extremely tight, built for short visits rather than lingering. It is not a workspace or hangout café, but more of a quick stop that stands out because of its hospitality and focus on craft. Even in a busy area, it leaves a memorable impression through its matcha quality and genuinely personable service.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
