I got there at 9:51 and saw my drinks in the queue. 10:00pm and my drinks have not yet been prepped and she has been prepping other orders. I finally asked when my drinks will be ready. She then said that I did not check in with her. There was no instruction or message to check in with staff once you arrive. I found it rude the way she communicated with me. Bad customer service. This tea spot sends the order through GrubHub, which took the money for the tea order, but the restaurant did not respond with any confirmation or with the drink. Ordering -in-advance feature was broken for me, and the money was lost with no drink and no compensation. If you want tea from this place, I suggest ordering in person to be sure. It felt awful. Teaspoon has blown up over the last few years, and I think the most successful shop is still the OG location here in MTV. I think a few reasons for why this is the case: high demand but low competition, late hours, and a good brand presence. While I do like it's locally owned, but TBH I'm never impressed with the drinks - always way tooo sweet even if I adjust, and everything tastes so artificial. I hear another boba shop is opening up nearby - can't wait for that! ;) I came here after Gen, and tried the strawberry matcha with boba (a drink that blew up because of Boba Guys, I think). I liked everything except the boba - it had no flavor, but liked that it was warm enough so it had a nice chew and warmth. Other drinks are mediocre to me...not sure what I would really recommend to anyone if they asked what to get at Teaspoon. I have been to several Teaspoons, and after this visit I still think this bubble tea shop is just OK. I think their fruit drinks are slightly better than their milk teas but I don't like them enough for me to frequent Teaspoon that often. I decided to try the black assam milk tea with boba. This one comes with the sugar on the side of the cup and thus the sugar level can't be adjusted. I expected this to be pretty sweet and yep it was pretty sweet. I have commented in the past that their milk tea drinks taste watery and I felt the same way about this drink. I don't get that nice mouthfeel I like at some of the other boba shops. I asked her if there was any tea without caffeine because I'm pregnant she rolled her eyes and pointed to the menu behind stating anything with a line through the leaf means no caffeine. While i was trying to put my phone number in she skipped the screen to tell me the total. Every customer after me she was nice to and asked if they'd like to input a number an was very patient with. I believe this is the first Teaspoon location - it is located in a small plaza, so it may be hard to miss. It is slightly smaller than the other Teaspoons that I have been to with minimum seating inside, but there is plenty of seating outside and there is a quiet patio area in the back that you may relax at while enjoying your boba. A couple of things that I like about Teaspoon is how innovative they are, they are always creating new drinks/seasonal drinks from time to time and they have many toppings to choose from. My go to drink is either the jasmine milk tea with boba, but sometimes I add grass jelly and rainbow jelly in addition to the boba. If I am not feeling milk that particular day, I opt for a jasmine green tea with boba and sometimes I add either passion fruit dolphin jellies or rainbow jelly to it also. read more

This is the first time in a looooong time (if ever?!?!) that I have been 110% satisfied with my milk tea purchase. I ordered the premium Jasmine cream milk tea with almond pudding at 75% sweetness with light ice. It is extremely rare to find almond pudding (at least from my boba experience!) and I was also pleased that their cream was lactose free. Passion mango mochi donut 4. Chocolate mochi donut I initially was gonna just get boba but when I saw the mochi donuts, I could not resist! I would have bought the rest of the flavors, but they are pretty pricey at $3.25 for one. I really enjoyed my drink. You definitely get that mango taste and it's just like the name "silky". The honey boba added a great contrast to the overall drink. I tried my friend's drink and I'm not a huge fan of egg pudding in a drink, but I did enjoy the earl grey tea drink on its own. As for someone that's never had a mochi donut, my best friend and I were surprised that the mochi donut is actually more dense than the normal doughnut. Click "Order Ahead", and it redirects to "order.online," making it look like you're ordering online through Teaspoon. Arrive in store to pick up order, and discover that you got overcharged by a third with no indication. Receipt says "DoorDash." It's sad to see how low teaspoon quality has gotten. Their shakers are disgusting, a dark brown color from what was once clear. It's clear to see that they haven't bleached or cleaned their shakers in a while. I asked the man in the front when the boba was made and he told me an hour ago. Perhaps there's a nostalgia factor but I really appreciate the consistency here, though don't expect the same for order ahead drinks since they might sit for a while before consumption. I'm always a bit skeptical to try the new drinks here since you're usually not allowed to make any adjustments (sweetness or otherwise) but I definitely applaud HQ for their creativity and innovation. I decided to go with their classic customizable drinks: my go too teas are Roasted Oolong (slightly nutty and weak), High Mountain Oolong (strong af), Grape Oolong (bitter and sweet), Peach Oolong (fruity and fresh) and I always pair it with the classic milk and 25% sweet. IMO it kinda feels like you're getting ripped off if you don't add milk because then it's basically water (is this a hot take?). For toppings I usually get honey boba and almond pudding, though the taro chunks are nice too but I have to be in the mood. Genmaicha is a Japanese tea with roasted rice grains, which really adds to its aromatic profile. The tapioca pearls in my experience have always been consistent and a delightful sort of chewy. I get my drinks here half sugar and less ice. (If I recall correctly, they charge extra for no ice.) Even then the Strawberry Sangria was a little too sweet for me. I finally got to try it! The famous Teaspoon boba shop. My friend suggested this place as a halfway meetup spot between SF and SJ. This place is in a plaza that has an insane amount of parking! If you don't find that princess parking that your heart desires, just drive towards the back of the plaza where there's overflow parking. It was my first time here and that's what I did. After parking, it was a quick walk to the store. I was pretty intimidated by the huge line out the door. But it moved pretty fast. There was only one girl taking orders too! I think there were about 20 people in front of me, and I got to the cash register in less than 10 minutes! I got their liquid gold drink, no adjustments. There isn't too much space inside to sit. Four tables for two on one end, and on the other end of the shop, there's benchlike seating for 2. Not to worry, because there were plenty of tables outside. You don't even need to bring a jacket because there were heat lamps outside to keep you warm! From the time I sat down, to the time that they called us to pick up our drinks, it was also less than 10 minutes! thought they were pretty generous with the amount of boba and it wasn't overly sweet, despite not adjusting the sugar level or amount of ice. The drinks here have always been consistent to me, and just their regular house milk tea tastes very fresh, unlike some other places where the tea seems like it's been sitting there for a while. The boba is nice and soft, and also seems like fresh batches are constantly being made. On impulse, I decided to get the bamboo bottle once, which is just basically putting your drink it a tall Voss shaped glass cup that has a bamboo cover with the teaspoon logo on it. Choosing Teaspoon as the first business to review ever since COVID times--I took a break from writing reviews because all the businesses struggling made me really sad, and it seemed pointless to review places as I had before. Anyways, I am grateful to Teaspoon for staying open even during the early, uncertain days of COVID lockdown. It is a big gamble for businesses to maintain operations, and the fact that I was still able to order quality milk tea drinks was comforting and definitely made daily life feel less apocalyptic. (Yes, I find milk tea essential) Teaspoon does have some of the better quality tea drinks in the area, and I would nominate it as my go-to in the Mountain View/Los Altos area. (Cupertino, Milpitas, and other milk tea hot spots are a different competition). Their menu has a nice variety of well thought-out drinks with catchy names. Favorites: - House milk tea - robust black tea, well-balanced. It tastes as though they carefully adjusted all the ratios of the tea blend, milk, and sugar to create a signature staple - Thai tea - I'm usually not a fan of Thai tea, but Teaspoon's version has a strong tea base with a nuanced blend of spices, and isn't too sweet. This is also the only drink that comes with boba (unless this is just a glitch on their website) Notable: - Strawberry sangria - deliciously jammy, reminds me of the strawberry topping from Boba Guys. It's hard to discern the black tea flavor, but it's a satisfying drink nonetheless - Lady Bug - a nice tart drink from real kumquat juice blended with green tea. It's my go-to for a refreshing drink on a hot day - Taro Lover - love that they use real taro! Other comments: - Roasted tea creama - described as dark roasted oolong, but it wasn't as roasty as I'd expected. While it looks pretty with the layers, the tea flavor was pretty weak and I prefer the standard house milk tea - Sweet marshmallow - seems creamier and sweeter than the house milk tea, good if you have a sweet tooth - Shaved ice - not the best shaved ice I've had but the texture, flavors, and toppings are quite on point. My favorites are Afternoon Tea (essentially a milk tea drink with loads of toppings, all in shaved ice form) and Hangover 3 (ft their tasty Thai tea blend) Teaspoon is a little pricey at $5 total per drink (sans toppings), large size only. Their milk options are a little confusing, because default is "lactose-free milk" but I don't think it's creamer. There is an option to upgrade to organic house cream or oat milk. The online ordering system is convenient and recently improved, since it previously didn't include the build your own option. Also, their reusable cups with the cylindrical shape and bamboo lid are so photogenic. Overall, I would recommend.
