There was a power outage during my repair and the whole block went out. It didn't take too much longer for them to finish but they gave me a $20 discount regardless without me even asking for one. While I was there to get my brakes looked at I told them I also needed an inspection done and they agreed to do one on the spot without having me make a separate appointment. I've generally been someone who has had trouble developing trust with automotive establishments, but my unease has greatly diminished following exchanges with Tech One. I've been taking my vehicle ('04 F-150 with 160k miles with zero driver intent to own anything different in the foreseeable future) for a couple of years now. Competent, credible repairs combined with consultative inputs on things to look for going forward. All questions are answered using verbiage a lay person can readily understand. I just needed an oil change, and Tech One was close. They couldn't see me immediately, but took my name and made an appointment for later that day (which I could have done by phone; not their fault they were busy). It took longer than a place that only does oil changes, but the waiting room is pleasant and the cost was fair for a good oil change. They did a thorough inspection of my car, as well, and listed things they noticed might need future work, but never made a hard sell to get me to do them immediately, or even with them. When one of those things inevitably does go pear shaped on my car, I'll bring it back here and see how it goes. Warning: they will bombard you with requests for reviews. I thought they did a good job, so was happy to write one in SureCritic, then got another request for a rating on RepairPal, and a third with links to all the majors: Google, Yelp, FB. I'm doing this one because, again, I thought they were good, but I'm hoping this will make them stop emailing me about it. read more

Started out this morning and the car got progressively more sputtery on acceleration and the check engine light flashed at me a few times. Drove into Tech One without an appointment. They checked it out, gave me the estimate for spark plugs and coils replacement. Got it done and back to my day in two hours flat! Competitive prices and nice people. Runs great. So I have been going here for a few years and recommended friends and family. Everything was good until my most recent trip. My driver side window was stuck up. They said it was a bad motor and replaced it. I picked it up the same day and for about 24 hours it worked. Then it got stuck down. I took it back. They said they fixed it. About 24hrs later it broke again. I took it back and this time they said they got a warranty replacement on the motor and I should now be good. 24hrs later it was stuck down. Worse yet, it finally started to rain in Austin. I was probably the only person in all of Central Texas cursing the rain. When I called the final time they agreed to refund my money, $450. I'll forget all the wasted trips and the fact my window was stuck down (remember originally it was stuck up), but then I took it to the dealer. They showed me the motor that Tech One put in there. It was clearly used and would never be in warranty. Worse yet, the dealer was cheaper and they put in a new factory motor. Rather than come clean and tell me that they lied and sold me a used motor, they had me return three times and lost a customer. read more

Too good to be true? Three visits now and the bubble has yet to pop. Tech one has helped us with an ongoing issue triggering a check engine light, without pressure to perform expensive work to make sure it won't recur. Maintenance work, alignment and a starter replacement have all been done quickly and at a fair price. I'm not sure I'll ever get over the habit of trying to second-guess everything a mechanic tells me, but these guys inspire as much trust as any shop I've ever worked with. read more

Cannot recommend Trent and Tech One enough. Brought my car in recently with a random cylinder misfire...it could be any of like 6 different problems. Trent diagnosed my car for free, and then called me to tell me that the work (bad catalytic converter) should be done at the dealership as it's still covered in an emission warranty. The job at the dealership is valued at $1300, and an unscrupulous mechanic could've not informed me of my coverage. I will be absolutely bringing my car to tech one if/when I run into any more issues. read more

I went to see techone auto back in april / may to get an oil change and to double check somethings the dealership told me needed to be fixed. I made the stupid mistake of showing them what all they said was wrong. Of course they come back and confirm all of these things are need to be done and added on a battery needed to be replaced New tires ( mine are only a year old ) New brakes ( year old at the time ) Brake flush for my new brakes New battery Cabin filter I only got the cabin filter replaced bc mainly i couldnt afford any of the other crap. I take my car to firestone ( i have a credit card for them ) & they call me and say only they see wrong is i need new wiper blades . They said tires battery & brakes were good. I did mention to them what the dealer and this place told me and expected them to jimp on the band wagon So now my head is spinning , so i take my car back to the dealrship to see if i need a new battery and it checks out fine. So four months later I take my car to jiffy lube to get an oil changed and asked thier opinion on how my tires looked and he stated they were fine. I feel like they seen i was a female who was clueless and took adavntage of that . I came to them bc i didn't trust the dealer and now i would never take my car back to them. read more

I don't ever feel like I'm being taken advantage of like a lot of mechanics. The waiting room is lovely and clean with free drinks, and fast wi-fi. Took my car here for an oil change and asked that they take a look at my belts/hoses after during a state inspection elsewhere, I was told I needed a new timing belt. I am no expert, but I knew my car has a timing chain instead of a belt. The guys here were quick, fairly priced, and honest that my car didn't need any additional work. My Honda has had a lot of service at Tech One. Overall, I'm 100% satisfied with their will-to-do-right attitude and 95% satisfied with their attention to detail. The missing 5% is due to my most recent service, which I elaborate on below. Note that I remain convinced that Tech One knows what they're doing and recommend them to anyone not wanting to pay dealer price for top notch repair. Consider this a 5 star review with a single 4 star experience. Tech One performed my 105,000 mile service at the end of February 2013, which included replacing the spark plugs. While it was warm out, there were no observable issues, other than that the gas mileage had decreased slightly. However, when it got cold winter 2014, I could hear a slight clicking until the engine warmed up. I thought nothing of this until someone else mentioned it could be a timing issue that might damage the engine. Nervous, I consulted Honda directly, and they immediately noted that the incorrect spark plug type was installed. They mentioned that my Honda Insight was unique from all other cars in that it used indexed spark plugs. Since Tech One had performed the spark plug replacement, I opted to have them correct the issue. From the onset, Tech One stood behind their work, immediately reassuring me that if they'd installed incorrect parts, they'd fix the problem gratis. However, upon picking my car up, they noted that the correct plugs were in fact installed, but graciously didn't charge me anything for the diagnostics. Off I went to consult the internet to reconcile the different diagnoses. This lead me into the engine bay with a flashlight to verify what the internet revealed: the installed spark plugs were in fact the incorrect type. Back at Tech One - armed with the relevant Honda Service Manual printouts - I explained my car's quirky indexed plugs. After a second inspection, they agreed that the plugs were incorrect, and immediately ordered the correct ones (they arrived the next day). I brought my car back and they replaced them under warranty, again charging $0.00. Up to now, this is a 5 star review; I can't fault Tech One for my quirky car. When I got home, I popped the hood to check the oil, and immediately noticed that a couple washers were missing on the engine cover. I know these washers were present before the service because (as I mentioned above) I was under the hood diagnosing the issue. The missing washers aren't the end of the world, but considering they'd previously correctly installed those same parts several times (once the day before and many times previously for unrelated work), I can't help but think they were just in a hurry to finish a $0.00 warranty replacement. I'll reiterate that Tech One does amazing work, but in this one particular instance I'm a little bummed they weren't 5 star service. I'll continue going there and you should, too. read more

I was impressed with David's handling my case. The van owner from whom I purchased my van had replaced the entire AC system (Compressor, Condenser and all) through Tech One a year ago. When my AC compressor failed, I called David and he honored the warranty by replacing the compressor with a brand new compressor and also gave me an additional 4 years warranty on parts and labor on the replaced compressor. I wish every automotive shop follow his model of Customer First. Keep up the great work David and team! read more

Went in for an inspection and to check on a water leak coming from my car. They gave me an inspection and checked my car for free. It turns out that the leak was just my air conditioning, but they told me if any problems arise to just come in and they'll give me a deal. I was out of there in about 20 minutes and it only cost me $30. read more

Took my car because it was making some strange noises when going above 65 mph, and the technician let me know that it was still under warranty and I could get it fixed at the dealership for free! I found this place on YELP. This car repair shop is approved by AAA, which is very strict in authorizing a car repair business. (I'm not talking about towing.) They are helpful and honest. Tech One has been fabulous! The first time I went, I had torn something off the bottom of my car and had a very tight time window to get it fixed. They fit me in right away, and were able to fix it immediately! As a huge added bonus, they didn't even charge me, which totally made my day and was so kind!
