I started eating here when they opened and at first it was just ok, getting the roast beef sub. I gave it another try and got the house burger, it was delish! the meat is fresh and tasty, the french fries are house cut it seems and they are lightly salted and very hot, with good texture. the best! I also enjoy their Bay State beer on tap and it comes in i think 4 different sizes..I have gone back many times and sometimes sit at the bar..The Owner Teddy, comes out and says hi alot and checks to see if there is a line waiting to be seated...the last time i was there it was slammed but the service held up and was really quick! Wow I have to say I was extremely impressed with every part of our lunch here. Both of our burgers were cooked exactly as asked, the ingredients were fresh and the portions were very generous. They also had gluten-free buns for my wife who has celiacs. The food arrived quick and had a very appealing presentation. Both burger were delicious. Teddy G and team did an amazing job catering my brothers funeral service. A different local restaurant left us high and dry and Teddy was able to accommodate with short notice. Visiting for a conference we wanted to find a place to eat so our first night we went to Teddy Gs. We arrived on a Monday and they were able to accommodate a party of 11 for 430. (W/ reservation). Appetizers were your normal fan fare. Fried Calamari, Fried Pickles, and Nachos were all good, not great. I ordered a turkey burger that had cranberry Mayo and blue cheese crumble which was pretty unique and tasty. Most everyone else ordered the ultimate cheeseburger and really thought it was awesome. Service was really slow. Took a while before our server even came to the table after we were seated and a the wait for the food was long. Basic bacon cheeseburger was good. Personal pet peeve but the bottom half of the roll was disgusting within seconds - they use the style of roll that almost dissolves with any juice or grease from the burger. I really like the fries though and steak tips on the salad were really tasty too. Mac n cheese for me is hit or miss; this past visit my dad got it and I thought it was a little bland. read more

I enjoy Teddy Gs every time I visit. Except today. I usually go to the bar area with a friend. The bartenders are always friendly and the food is always delish. Today however, after touring a couple of schools in the area, I brought my daughter there to try the wings. We sat on the restaurant side. It was quite the disappointment. After a long day, I felt like we were bothering the waitress to do her job. Seems she didn't like simple questions and was not too flexible with requests. Her facial expressions and the way she responded made us feel unwelcome. When the food came, i found a piece of chicken in my blue cheese. It was not mine. It was buried deep and it was cold. They did replace it and could not fathom how that would happen. I didn't ask for another cup of blue cheese or a free meal or even a discount - I just wanted them to know. I did receive a discount so thanked her for that. As this was the first negative experience I've had, I am still giving TeddyGs 4 stars. All of my visits prior to this have been fun and a good experience. It was just unfortunate my daughter had to go through it. She also works at a restaurant and she realized the waitress must have just been having a bad day. The chicken in the blue cheese - I guess stuff like that happens. I'm pretty easy going about it. I'd go back. But only to the bar side. I even think the food tastes better on that side. Or maybe the right attitude makes it seem that way. read more

Contrary to some other reviewers comments, I have frequented Teddy's numerous times since their opening, and the experience was fantastic!! Can mistakes happen, yes of course, it's not a science, but the food is superb, from the appetizers to the main courses.... The wait staff is courteous and professional and work very hard. My husband and I are locals, and we try whenever possible to avoid chains and patronize small business. We've been to this restaurant three times in the two months that they have been open, so now I feel like I can write a fair review. We were one of the first customers at Teddy G's on the first day they were open. That's how excited we were that a restaurant like this had opened in Sturbridge. First visit was great! I had the chicken saltimboca sandwich with kettle chips which was delicious! My husband had a burger with fries. We both enjoyed our meals immensely. The service was slow, but we were understanding since it was their first day. But honestly, it wasn't that slow. I had expected much worse. The only downside was the iced tea. It's not brewed tea, but a Coke product called Fuze. My husband enjoyed his cheap beer immensely (Blue Moon, 4 and change for 25 oz.) A few weeks later we visited for the second time. My husband and I had pasta. He had the rattlesnake pasta and I had a Greek pasta of some sort. In all fairness, this is probably mostly a burger joint. It's probably not the place to expect stellar pasta. But pasta is on the menu... They mixed up our pastas, giving my husband my penne and giving me his linguine. No big deal, but because the kitchen was so slow we decided not to send them back and just eat them. Our waitress was extremely apologetic and I could tell by her reaction that she had been fielding a lot of customer complaints that day. It was like she wasn't surprised at all that there was a problem. The pastas were just okay. Mine had very large chunks of undercooked onion in it that I had to pick out. My husband said that his was a rather flavorless pasta that was supposed to be spicy. Service was even slower this time as compared to our first visit. Fast forward to last night. I went back to the chicken sandwich that was so good, and my husband had another burger. Both were great! It was just everything else that was terrible. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip appetizer with toasted pita chips. I was disappointed to see that the pita chips were not actually chips, as listed on the menu, just warm slices of pita but that was okay. The dip however, was ice cold. It took over 10 minutes for us to flag down our waitress and to send it back. Another 20 minutes before we finally got our appetizer again. Rather than replacing our appetizer, they reheated the dip, but didn't replenish the pita slices that we had eaten dipless because we were starving. So we had warmed over dip and three cold pieces of pita to eat with it. Epic fail. By that time we were ready to walk out without having eaten our meal. The waitress did let us know that she informed the owner of the problem. I expected the owner to come speak with us. And I was looking forward to that moment when I could explain to her how much we enjoy patronizing local businesses and how we probably wouldn't be back after this experience. But she never showed up. Thankfully, as I said, our meals were tasty. What made us even more angry than the appetizer, was the fact that our table was serviced by no fewer than four waitstaff. And the service was still impossibly slow. I sat with an empty glass for over 25 minutes. At one point, I had to let our original server know that someone else was already handling our bill so that our credit card was not charged twice. And when we finally got our bill? That artichoke dip wasn't taken off. Because we didn't want to wait another half an hour we just begrudgingly paid for it and left. If we come back it won't be for another six months or so. This place really has a lot of work to do. I do hope that they are able to work out their problems and succeed because our little town desperately needs a place like this. read more

Meh. Service was so slow and incredibly inattentive. We sat at 6:45 pm. Ordered before 7 pm and didn't get our food until after 7:30 pm. Wouldn't be a big deal if the food we ordered was a steak or some complicated meal. Burger medium rare, fried haddock wrap and a kids chicken tender. The server didn't come back to our table to reassure us about the tardiness of the food or check to see if we needed drink refills after she took the order. We didn't see her anywhere the entire time. When the food came out the burger was beyond well done, the haddock wrap was tasteless and clearly lacked simple salt and pepper seasoning. After our meals we tried getting the attention of multiple servers for our bill. We didn't leave until after 8 pm. Pretty ridiculous given the type of restaurant and the food that was ordered. Even more annoyed since we still had another 45 minute drive home with a 4 year. read more

It is a casual, family-friendly place that doesn't pretend to be what it's not. It has a diverse menu of what I'll describe as "upscale pub food". I like that they have healthy options. My go-to things to order are: 1. Greek salad (I love how much feta they use, and the dressing is great) 2. French onion soup 3. Turkey burger The prices are reasonable (for food and drinks). I ate here as an out-of-towner. I started the meal with an old fashion cocktail which required an one minute conversation with the waitress to get for reasons I still don't understand. She carded me out of what I can only assume was an over abundance of caution, I am 45 years old and look it. The Old fashion arrived and the bartender made it with Southern Comfort. Who makes an Old Fashion with Southern Comfort? I have been drinking them for 20 years and they are always made with Rye. I ordered the ribeye on special which was surprisingly excellent and perfectly cooked. The fries were also good, no complaints there. Would I go back? I don't know, I was a mixed bag, If I could get that same ribeye again but with a decent cocktail and a new waitress I would and don't card people who are obviously old enough to drink, it is annoying and unnecessary. read more

This place is screwed up. They do not do call ahead seating and only take reservations for parties of 8 or more. We sat way too long and watched unsupervised and undertrained staff do pretty much nothing. There were several tables that were dirty that just sat there as we waited patiently. They used to be on top of their game years ago, but must have a new front of the house supervisor. Poor experience waiting to be seated. In this day and age there needs to be call ahead seating and ability to make reservations online. Food was pretty good, but not exceptional and definitely not worth the wait and hassle to be seated. How many people do they need at the front desk? Totally useless. I used to enjoy Teddy G's, but do not think I will be going back anytime soon. This place is very clean and had good lunch food. My friend and I met here and we were greeted by the hostess and seated right away. Our server got to our table quickly and was attentive throughout our visit. My friend ordered a salad that was a special (chicken with feta tomatoes, onions). She also ordered the creamy tomato soup. I tried her soup and it was delicious! I ordered the classic grilled cheese with tomato and sweet potato fries. When it came out, it didn't have a tomato and it was on rye bread (I asked for white). The server apologized and quickly fixed the order. The fries were thick but also crispy- very good! Stopped bye for lunch with the family this past saturday around1pm. Place was not too busy. Everything is nice and new. Kinda unique set up with the tables, lots of room between tables..not a bad thing, kinda nice that they are not crowding as many tables as most places do. Big menu......we try a bunch of things. For apps we got the kettle chips....I did not realize they come with the samdwichs, I assumed fries did. I would not order them as a app again, but they were good, you can tell they just made them. We also got Mozz. Stick..buffalo style. These were good, basically they are mozz. sticks wiht buffalo sause on them. Never seen that before. For meals we got the Veg burger, and a feta grilled cheese. Not bad, nothing amazing but your basic fare. Amongst the sandwichs we tried there onion rings, sweet potatos fries and normal fries. The best were the normal fries. I woudl rather go to this place than Uno's or applebees. I think the new Bentley Grille going in were the Pic was will be additional comptetion. It was lobster but not a grilled roll and chips out of a bag not even bagged kettle chips. Service is probably good if your a local and greeted by staff. Great place. I came to town to do a job interview, and I ended up staying from 12:30pm until 6:30pm. I had the crab dip for lunch; it's an appetizer, but it was plenty for one person. The greatest part about it was that the dip was not lava-hot when it came out; I was able to eat it right away, rather than staring at (and smelling) it until it was no longer hazardous. The place was empty, and the bartender (Desiree) was extremely cool. I did the interview, and by that time it was 5pm, and I wasn't going to try to go back to Boston during rush hour. So, I ordered the firecracker burger and switch from Diet Coke to Sam Adams. I stayed so long that Desiree already left for the day, and there was a new shift of people. They also took great care of me, and the food was excellent. This place is laid-back, comfortable, and fun.
