Good ol' fashioned, old school restaurant. This is where the non-elites, the non-celebrities, the average Joe goes to eat good ol' fashioned grub. The breakfast menu is fantastic. The food is delicious and the serving sizes are very generous. The prices are more than fair for what you get for your money. Just be sure to bring cash as they do not take cards. We loved the fact that there were not two tables that matched and the chairs at each table were a hodge-podge collection to pull together. Its a great atmosphere. My husband and I had lived over near Bundy and Santa Monica for 15 years and I had always wanted to stop by Teddy's Cafe.. we passed by it all the time while they're coming off the freeway or quick fix at Taco Bell, but never made it until today :-) remember back in the day when on Sunday mornings mom or dad would go to the kitchen and make it amazing breakfast for the family that is Teddy's cafe! I finally stopped by to get something to go.. the ambience was way better than I imagined, both this staff and the customers were extremely nice and the food was delicious! This visit came after seeing an Instagram story about the fish and chips. I was psyched about going in because I'm always passing it by. We walk in and it's a old school restaurant with plenty of people who have been visiting for decades. Since I had my choice locked up, my girlfriend decided on the soup and steak sandwich. She enjoyed it but felt the steak needed some sauce. She got more fries than I did on her plate. She really enjoyed the clam chowder and our crackers and Tapatijo on it. My fish was perfectly crispy and flaky and the fries were good. Didn't have too much salt on them I'm afraid but better than having too much. The coslaw was okay but a too drenched for my taste. I'm glad I gave it a shot. It's a truly classic joint. read more

I went here for the first time with some of my co-workers in the West LA area, and we loved everything from the excellent customer service, fantastic coffee and delicious breakfast, and the free parking :) ! All of those awesome qualities are so hard to find in West LA ;) ! We all met there on a Saturday morning. So as expected, parking was really tight because it was for free, and also because breakfast is so reasonably priced :) ! If you have to go on a weekend, I would suggest coming early right when they open, or sometime around mid-morning when some customers or families are about to leave. There is street parking around the corner. But I'm not sure if you have to pay for it, or if it is hard to find. We got unlimited coffee refills with the breakfast specials we picked :) ! Their pancakes, eggs and bacon are simply delicious :D !! The waiters and waitresses are all super friendly and courteous, even when it is crazy busy! Just keep in mind that this place is CASH ONLY. Teddy's Cafe is a classic style Diner that is just "okay" or "it's fine". The service is pretty involved. The staff appear and sound stressed out though. So don't expect any pleasantries or casual conversation. Let's say they have a financial milestone to hit. Although, they are very attentive so there's no saying they aren't working hard; they are! We ordered breakfast and it was not great. The scrambled eggs tasted strange and we found out why with the Over-Easy style eggs-- they were expired. The rest of the food was "fine" and nothing really stood out, unfortunately. But we weren't bothered by anything. Reviewer Tip: If you can't cook 'over-easy eggs' or sunny-side up, you can't cook at all; it's a pretty good litmus test for many kitchens. (This kitchen might not be up to par.) The pastries were also pretty fair and slim pickings if you can catch them out of the corner of your eye, by your feet at the doorway. The menu is also simple and I think IHOP has very similar options. The Ambiance is old styled though, like your grandma or grandpa's house with the knickknack's you would expect. That might be one of its best charms of this place. Overall, have yourself a meal in this weathered-diner, that's probably "just okay". And tip the waiter because they look like they are working their *ss off. read more

Service is terrible either the young waitress always gets your order wrong or the older waitress with glasses that works there during daytime loves to over charge you watch your check make sure they don't over charge you they don't charge the same as menu they just write some jiberish and hand it to you . During lunch time our table was swarming with flies and we were seated inside the restaurant that's always a bad sign . I have been coming to Teddy's since 1987. I work in the area often and on, so it was always a good spot to get breakfast early in the morning because they open very early. about four weeks ago, my friend and I went in there for breakfast and we got bacon and eggs. We finished our breakfast and there was leftover bacon so I took it home. By the end of the day, we were both really sick couldn't figure out what the problem was the next day. I heated the bacon in the microwaveand it had it off smell and didn't taste right so I threw it out and realized that we got sick from the bacon after thinking about it the bacon didn't seem to be that bad, and I realize that they cook that bacon in the deep fry. read more

I eat very very healthy and was reticent to eat at Teddy's because I know they do the Standard American Diet. However, I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to find a $10 spinach salad which was really delicious! Also it's got a homie, old world atmosphere. just left this place would NEVER recommend it. let's start off with why? "Angie" I believe was the waitress and when I asked what was on the side salas she replied "lettuce" I asked if it had topping and she "replied" that I could add them. However every restaurant is going to do it differently her attitude swiftly changed to an attitude of contempt then she went to the back where I could see her talking about me with the staff. After having her laughs she came over and abruptly placed the bill on the table. The food had just came out and mind you there was a Man sitting next to us that had requested his bill twice. I said nothing to her I finished my coffee and prepared to leave. The food is sub par my omelet was over cooked to the point of fried, the "hash browns" and terrible more like a smashed potato, the aujus was disgusting. The albondigas soup was delicious and the Salsa prepared by one of the Waiters himself was outstanding. This post is not about bad mouthing the restaurant this post is an honest depiction of the quality of the food the service and perception. When traveling you are going to come across many different restaurants where things are done differently and that's okay. I don't appreciate being treated with contempt for asking a basic question. what stood out was her distain for others and that not good. however there was one Male waiter Jose? I believe I could be wrong. He said he worked there thirty plus years he is an AMZING person and his Salsa is delicious. First time you walk in you get hit with is the smell of cigarettes and dust, everyone stares at you as well and make you feel super uncomfortable. As you sit down the waiter comes by and was rude with an attitude as well as just tossing the menu. The soup they gave me was oily and gross, I tried to save the soup but I couldn't so I had the waiter take it away and her attitude got worse and she got upset that I send the soup back.
