We came out to enjoy the rodeo for the first time. It was a great event. My only complaint is the seats are super close together and very uncomfortable. The steakhouse was not open. We ate at the food vendors there. The food was ok. read more

The service was great with a large group of us. The food was pretty good. The prime rib was nearly 2" thick and not fatty! And it is cooked as a whole prime rib roast, then sliced. This place is amazing. We ordered a ribeye medium and it was cooked to perfection. We also had the jalapeño Mac and cheese, which was divine. The service was good and the tables were spaced apart to allow for social distancing. The staff all wore masks and were courteous. The rodeo is a lot of fun. We come to this place quite often. The atmosphere is great and the music is always good afterward. Going to the Tejas Rodeo Company always gives us a glimpse of the way the world was pre-COVID. Dinner at Steak House: We (two couples) ordered the KC for 2 Steaks. Mixed requests for Rare to Medium steaks. They came out hot, well seasoned, and prepared exactly to everyone's request. Service was excellent (which is not something I say routinely). Rodeo: We didn't enter stands until after 7p and was difficult to find 4 seats together. Should have been in there earlier. Packed house, but crowd was friendly - no one drunk or belligerent. Rodeo action was good...some slack time between events but good cowboys trying hard. Fun night! read more

This is an update to my restaurant-only review from about 8 months ago. Everyone deserves a second chance to shine! Our first experience here about 8 months ago was pretty terrible. Enough time has passed and this place is under new ownership (same family of restaurants as La Gloria, La Fruteria), so we gave it another shot and we were not disappointed. We dined on Thursday night - because that's the best night to come! They open at 5 PM for dinner service and it's very peaceful and relaxing because it's not crowded. Parking is plentiful. They also have a great Prime Rib with 2 sides dinner special on Thursdays and it's tasty! I recommend you make a reservation (or just walk-in) on a Thursday. They're also open Friday - Sunday, but those days are much more crowded. We had 7 PM reservations and were seated immediately. Our waiter, Andrew, was wonderful! He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. We chatted with him for a few moments each time he came by and he made some great recommendations. I got a glass of Kendall Jackson chardonnay - they opened a new bottle just for me, so that was appreciated. My fiancé got a Texas martini, which was very good. They gave us a basket of biscuits with butter and those were good too. We got the bacon wrapped quail as an appetizer. This dish is better than it used to be. It's 5 quail stuffed with cream cheese and jalapeno, wrapped in bacon, and served with a jalapeno and peach glaze. It was delicious! For our entrees, my fiancé got the Prime Rib special. It was huge, very well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. I actually liked the flavor of his steak a little more than my own. It was also topped with mushrooms and onions and came with a side of mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. It was all very good and the price was reasonable. It was a lot of meat though and he was unable to finish it - steak and egg leftovers, anyone? I usually get a filet mignon when I go to a steakhouse, but Tejas has KC Akaushi steaks, so I decided to try that this time. I got the 10 oz petite. I usually order it Medium, but the waiter recommended I get more Medium Well, as the Medium on these steaks is closer to rare, which I didn't want. So, I went with this recommendation and he was spot on. It comes as 2 oz medallions and each one was cooked perfectly. This steak is highly seasoned, which I liked, but others might find it a tad on the salty side. I got a side salad with blue cheese dressing and a loaded baked potato. Both were great! It was a great experience! Next time we come back, we might try visiting the rodeo as well. read more

Excellent char, cooked perfectly to my preference. Mac and cheese so creamy and delicious. The service was excellent and the most friendly, courteous staff around. Never been to a Rodeo before so this was something we wanted to check out. We bought tickets in advance for about $18 each. Unfortunately, we came late so we didn't get the full experience. It's an interesting experience and something I'm glad I did but it's not something I would do again. Just not my thing. AMAZING brisket and the Mac and cheese is to die for! They catered our wedding on NYE at western sky and it couldn't have been more perfect. The staff was extremely friendly, they took extra safety measures for COVID and were organized and on time! 10/10 would recommend. They also did our cake cutting for us which was a HUGE help! We brought our son and his girlfriend to this rodeo and had so much fun! We had reserved seats at ground level and that was the BEST place to watch the show. The "Mutton Busting" by the little kids was so cute. And when they had all the kids in the arena go in the ring and chase the calfs around, it was hilarious. Dinner before in the steakhouse was delicious. All in all it was an outstanding evening - really good family fun for all ages. read more

We went for the first time. The food was great as well as the atmosphere. The rodeo is fun entertainment for the whole family.

First, we were a big group , 2 tables with one waitstaff. My spouse and I ordered the Prime Ribeye dinner to split. It was not even warm and was cooked medium rather than the medium rare we asked for. Worst ribeye ever...It tasted like a pepper shaker spilled all over it. It was quite fatty, but tough to eat. I tasted the steak tips and they were a mix of tender and tough to chew! We should've had an additional waitstaff since many drinks and dinners came out staggered for both tables. I ordered an additional vegetable and it was put in front of me after we were finished with the meal. When the waitress set it down, she said, "sorry, I forgot your veggies." We left a minute later. She apologized several times to the table for all the mishaps. We would've drank more, but the drinks came slowly. Although she was kind and friendly, it was obvious the 2 tables (17 of us), were overwhelming for the waitress. Some of us are from out of state and this was not a good experience. We enjoyed the biscuits and the loaded nachos, they were both very good. read more

My Last Rodeo. Decent steak dinner, certainly not great. Mac and cheese though best I've ever had. Staff waited forever to sit us, maybe cuz we're northerners? Don't know but though not busy forced to wait so long we went to see the rodeo at 9pm (arrived at 6:45 on non-busy late Oct night) we missed it! I really wanted to see what I think is a great part of Americana - yet we were denied. Enjoyed the band and dance after. Ambiance is good and despite the setbacks we still had an ok meal, met nice people and give it 3-stars though by the slimmest of margins. Won't return. read more

Our first rodeo was a blast! Kiddy sheep herding, cattle roping and bull riding! Yee haw Good wholesome family fun. My grandson enjoyed the mechanical bull riding. Bought authentic cowboy and girl hats, enjoyed line dancing and the steakhouse. The steakhouse was straight from a western and everything you'd expect from cowboys at the bar to animal heads, small ranch equipment and ol' time pictures on the walls. It was warm and inviting. The steak, sides and drinks were great. But, the cheddar and pepper biscuits were out of this world good. I need the recipe or an option to have them shipped domestically! I haven't been since covid but before that I went every month. I'm talking about the steakhouse, not the rodeo. Went to rodeo once and almost choked to death on dust. But restaurant is awesome. Steaks, sides and service were incredible. It's a great place to just go eat and a treat for tourists who wanna see a real steakhouse. It's a little expensive but so good. Well worth the price and experience. If you have folks in town or are a tourist who want to see a rodeo and eat really good food, go here. read more
