Unfortunately my most favorite tea place is losing some stars. I find myself now driving to the Cupertino location instead due to the downgrade in drink quality. The last few times I've been in the past year, the drinks have been very inconsistent and the most disappointing is the boba. Every single time I've gone recently, the boba is flavorless and/or rubbery where it tastes old (like it's been sitting out too long). The drinks have started to taste watery and I normally get less ice/less sweet. This comment applies to both milk teas and fruit teas. It makes me feel I have to get regular sweetness for a tasty drink as the teas can no longer stand on their own without sugar. Additionally, since COVID - they of course have hired a bunch of new employees who are probably still getting their bearings. And for whatever reason this location doesn't write down your order when taking your drink order. So whenever I order 3+ drinks at once, something always ends up being wrong no matter how slowly I give the order since the baristas are relying on memory of a verbal order. Always pains me to downgrade a previously 5 star review, but who knows maybe they will improve back up in the next few years. read more

Ten Ren has the best, most authentic boba in the bay. I hesitated on giving this location 5 starts because I prefer the Cupertino location. You can't go wrong with their boba. Today, I got the Roasted oolong tea with pearls. The flavor didn't "wow" me like it usually does, but the tea was still good nonetheless. The pearls are also made perfectly. You have to have at least $5 worth of stuff to use credit card, and I freaked out at first because I wasn't trying to buy another tea or a $10 + big bag of tea leaves for brewing. Good place for tea. The tea here is much stronger than other places in my opinion. I always spilt my tea into two cups are have it two separate days since it is too strong for me. I've been coming here for over 15 years and not much has changed except their added option of using coconut milk in their drinks. Sometimes consistency and reliability is what will make a place last. I usually come here for their famous Taiwanese tea and nothing else. No cool IG-worthy backgrounds, no cute cups or fun looking tops, just straight up high grade tea. Most boba places use too much sweetener (even if you ask for none) and have too many frills that the focus is no longer on the quality of the tea. Not this place. Tea is their business and you'll see that when you walk in. There are barrels of tea and chinese herbs for purchase. If you want straight up tea, this is the place to go. I was always a fan of the teas from ten ren but I think I just made a wrong choice today by choosing the honey tea with the addition of white pearls because it came out to be just a tad too sweet for my liking. I ordered a green tea with grass jelly. I really liked that their tea was very strong and better quality. You can specify how much sugar you wanted and mine was 10%. There are so many boba shops in the Bay Area... this one is on another level. Normally, I can drive past a boba shop and not get anything, but anytime I am in the area I just have to make a stop here. I am boring and just get the pearl milk black tea but sometimes it's just good to stick with the classics. You can choose your sweetness level and my dad often likes to buy the tea bags that they sell here and he is picky with his teas. I've realized that as I get older that not all boba is the same. This place is truly legit. Next time you are in the area, stop by and you can add your phone number to get the stamps to earn a free boba. My co-worker and I came here for an office Boba Friday run, so we had our list of orders with us when we arrived, ready to rattle off since they don't have an option for online ordering. When I started to put in our orders, the woman at the counter was cranking them out and kept asking for the next order before the previous ones were even ready to be made and didn't write down a single thing. I was confused and concerned that our drinks were going to be completely screwy... but they weren't! Everything turned out exactly as we had ordered them. AMAZING. The ordering and payment set up in the shop was a little wonky. When you first walk in, you order on the right side, then you turn around and pay for your order right behind you on the left side of the store. It's a long, narrow tea store that just happens to sell boba; it's not exclusively a boba shop. The tea was definitely great quality. The lids were not your typically sealed-tight, punch-through-the-film-with-a-straw variety, so I was a little paranoid carrying all of the drinks on my lap as we headed back to the office... but no spilled milk (tea) to cry over (WHEW). This place basically stands in the middle of a line of shops and that all sells foods and drinks by Milpitas Blvd. When you do come in it's basically a store that sells teas in packages or by the pound. Some of the teas they sell are expensive! They are mixed and labeled by quality and use (potency and health effectiveness). The guy we talked to explained to us the kind of teas they sell and it was impressive. Right across the counter is where they make the boba teas. They have boba flavors of the week and a overwhelmingly huge listing of the drinks that they offer. It can be very daunting but I assure you that this is a good place to buy flavored and strong tea. Usually prices would range to $3.25 and up depending if you want to add more boba or jellies in your drink. They don't have smoothies in their listing as most drinks are stirred or shaken with ice cubes. This place has brought my tea appreciation to the next level that no other place has ever done. I've heard great things about Ten Ren for years but didn't check it out today. The ambiance is quite different from other tea places. No seating, music, decorations. There's massive amounts of every tea you can think of out on display for purchase. Cozy, but it'd be nice to sit down. I had the Lychee Green Tea with boba and was pleased. The tea itself was steeped well and blended very well with the lychee flavor. There were bits of lychee in there much to my delight. The boba was soft and flavorful but not too soft. I first heard of this place after my friends were suggesting it to me. The customer service here is excellent! At first when I walked in, I thought it was a regular herbal tea shop, but when I looked to my right, it was a boba tea store! It was nice how the lady in front recommended some of her favorites to us while we were deciding which ones to get. I ended up getting my favorite, the jasmine green milk tea! This has to be my favorite milk tea place ever. This Ten Ren is a lot better than the one in Cupertino. This place is a grab and go since they do not have seating. They also sell all types of tea and herbs here. So far, all the drinks I've tried so far are good. However, my favorite two drinks are STRAWBERRY MILK GREEN TEA WITH ALOE and MILK GREEN TEA WITH ALOE AND GRASS JELLY. There is a woman there that makes the strawberry milk green tea perfectly most of the time so I would only order that if I know she will be the one making it. The other people tend to add too much tea or milk, or strawberry and the flavor is just not right. It can be very inconsistent so I would just order my other drink. The one thing they can work on is the service... They never really try to socialize with you or simply ask how your day was. In addition to that, another thing that annoys me, is when they undercharge me. For example, one time I gave them my card to pay for two drinks, she entered in the wrong amount and realized it a minute later then called me back over to pay that extra two dollars. Another time is when I already paid for my drink and then while I was waiting for my drink, they forgot to charge me for my aloe, so then they asked for 50 cents... I mean, I don't mind paying it, but it annoys me that I have put all my stuff away, then they tell me I owe them 50 cents because they forgot to charge me for something. read more

The place is located in a shopping plaza and the sign doesn't scream Ten Ren so you'll have to keep your eyes open if it's your first time. The menu is on the board and there is quite a big selection of different milk teas. Tax is included in the price and the prices are pretty even so you'll get even change back. There is a $5 minimum for credit card transactions. There are different cup sizes as well. The black milk tea will satisfy your milk tea and boba craving. I found it to be a bit on the sweeter side, but not overly. It is more milkier than tea like. I prefer mine to have a stronger black tea flavor, but this wasn't bad. They give you a lot of pearls and they taste fresh and chewy. The register is behind the counter that makes the drinks. It was empty when I came in and they made my drink in less than a minute. It was the fastest I've ever gotten a drink. My small drink was exactly $3. Overall, the place seems authentic and offers a lot of choices. A little sweet but I found it to be quite good none the less. read more

HANDS DOWN BEST HERBAL JELLY. EVER. Their herbal jelly is legit here. You can really taste the different from other places. Their drinks here are also really really good. This TenRen location is seriously the best tasting out of all the other locations I've been to. Their drinks are super great. Only thing that would make this location even better is if they added the sesame black milk tea like in the other location. They are very precise with their drinks here and they always come out perfectly for me. I'm a frequent customer of Ten Ren Tea's location in Cupertino, but this one is so much better! Don't let the Chinese Herbal shop look or smell scare you away, inside they make great milk teas and boba teas that put other "milk tea" shops to shame. You can really taste the teas in the drinks here and their add- ons are usually really good. I got a Peach Green Milk Tea, paid and came back to a Peach Green Milk Tea with boba and lychee jelly. Interesting, that the lady made it that way and the fact I paid $3.25 for it- but hey I'm not complaining because it tasted darn good! She didn't put too much ice, just enough to keep it cool, not too sweet and you could taste the flavor of peach and tea. The lychee jelly was typical as with any other place and the boba was lightly sweet- perfectly cooked. When coming here, you have to get the Peach Milk Green Tea w/ Boba and Lychee Jelly! Ten Ren has excellent tea, and the PMGT has the perfect amount of fruitiness that complements well with the boba and lychee jelly. It's a tad bit sweeter than I like but definitely bearable. They also don't add very much ice... just enough to top off your drink and keep it cool. If you want your drink less sweet, I would just ask for more ice to help dilute the drink.
