One of the kind ladies behind the counter answered all my questions and even gave me some recommendations. She helped me to settle on an iced honey green tea with grass jelly and aloe vera. The tea was fragrant, perfect in sweetness (no added sugar, only honey). The grass jelly was smooth and light in flavor. Also, the aloe vera added that slight texture that makes your mouth dance. This Milpitas location is no different and is a great go-to spot to curb your taste buds. The shop is small and is split between the drinks side and an herbal tea shop where you can purchase dry ingredients and other goodies. I ordered a Mango Black Milk Tea with Boba ($5) and less sugar, and it was exactly what I expected. The tea was strong which is what I like about boba shops that actually focus on it instead of just their milk. Boba was soft and cooked perfectly when I went. Oh, and they use a non-dairy creamer from the start. Like others have mentioned, they don't necessarily write down your orders so if you have a large one, make sure to split them up or give it to them once they finish another drink. I love how authentic this shop is. When you first walk in, the shop looks like a Chinese herbal medicine store, but it's most definitely more than that. I've had Ten Ren when I was a child and this shop looks exactly like how it was back then. Their drinks have an authentic tea taste to them, which I love. Some may think this is a bit bitter for milk tea, so definitely keep the sweetness level normal if you don't like your teas bitter. I got the Jasmine Green Milk Tea and it was really good. It was not too sweet and had the bitter jasmine tea kick to it. Same goes for the Black Milk Tea. The taste was authentic and it had a deep tea taste to it as well. Ten Ren Tea of Milpitas is located in the same shopping center as Lion Supermarket off of N. Milipitas Blvd. It's in the same shopping center as Thousand Tasty, but it's towards the other side of the shopping area. It's not exactly the lone boba place here either, as there's several other boba spots in this shopping center, and in the shopping center across the street, so it certainly has plenty of competition abound. Ten Ren is a pretty well known tea store chain, which also happens to sell boba because it's a fairly obvious combination to also sell boba when you're in the tea business. The store is basically split up into two sections as you enter the store. On the left side front counter, the primary focus is the tea side. Of course, there's also tea and other things towards the back half of the store, but the main interactions for the tea stuff will be towards the front left counter, which is also where you will pay for your drinks at the register. On the right side of the store when you enter, that's where the boba side is. They have a fairly extensive tea menu that's filled with milk teas, fruit teas, and other drinks also. Again, since Ten Ren is a tea shop by trade, it's no surprise that you will be able to find plenty of drink options here to help meet your boba needs. The prices here are also quite comparable. For example, you have Tapioca Express just a few stores down, and other Vietnamese boba places on the other side, but Tea Ren is still on the cheaper side wedged between these two spots. Even compared to the boba places across the street, they are still cheaper than those places too. So if you're looking for comparability, this place is great for it. Also, the large cup size is a decent size, one of those taller slender cups, but it's tall enough to be considered a large. Some of the other places here with the large size aren't even this big, so good value at Tea Ren. Staff here are good. Friendly enough, albeit, not always terribly talkative at times, but my interactions with them were limited today. I did used to drop by this Tea Ren many years back for boba, but didn't really feel any memorable moments occurred back then, so at least it's made somewhat more of an impression this time. No issues. Got a couple of drinks to try out today: milk green tea w/boba, white peach green tea with jelly. The milk green tea was okay. I got it with regular sugar level, low ice, and boba. The drink is a bit bland for my taste. The tea was also just okay, not a very strong tea in it. But regular sugar level definitely feels a bit underwhelming. The boba was okay too, not bad at all, but not super Q. But the large sized for this price is worth it regardless. The white peach green tea was also alright. Same problem again, bland even though it was regular sugar levels. The jelly was fine, good portions of it. It's a bit more like juice peachy, rather than the typical fruit essence mix. But just not enough sugar in this drink either. While it wasn't terrible, just a bit underwhelming. All in all, a solid boba spot. Good prices, decent portion sizes, and comparable for the area. The drink flavors are a bit on the less sugary side, which may be good for some, but as for me it's certainly not nearly as sweet enough as it could be. Staff were friendly enough, no issues. In the area and want to try a different boba spot than all of the others around? Give Tea Ren a try for good value, and decent drink quality, but may not fully appease your sweet tooth fully. Probably more like 3.5 stars than 3, but I'll try again next time to see how the sweetness is with the drinks. read more

Always a favorite while in the area. I've been ordering from the Ten Ren Tea locations for a while and never have anything bad to say. The tea is brewed in-house, drinks are made with love, and there is a whole list of toppings to choose from. Cash and card are accepted. You can collect stamps for every drink ordered and then redeem them for a free drink once 10 stamps are achieved. The drink menus are pretty extensive so make it easy on yourself and stick to tea flavors you enjoy. There is also a list of recommendations posted at the front. Don't forget to request for your sweetness and ice level preferences as the nice ladies behind the counter will not ask. Super refreshing. Worth going out of the way for especially on a hot day. Ten Ren has a teabag that combines two of my favorite teas, Chrysanthemum and Pu-Erh. This combination is also known as Gook Bo because in Cantonese, they are Gook Fa and Bo Lee. I feel that it's the perfect tea for eating dim sum and just everyday sipping. 40 tea bags to a box that sells for $11.50. It's gone up a little since last year, but not too bad. It used to retail for $10. I used to be able to find this on Amazon but not lately, at least not when I was looking for it. The Milpitas store was packed with merchandise. It took me a minute to explore the store and find the box I was looking for. There were only two on display, so I asked a clerk if there were more, which she happily dug out for me. The cashier asked if I needed more but I declined. During winter, I go through two bags a day, so these will last me for a while. One comment that I want to make that does not reflect on the Milpitas Store is that I used to go to the Ten Ren in Richmond to buy my tea. It's been closed for two years, yet it's still listed on Ten Ren's website. I dropped them an email last month and got a reply that they would pass the message onto their headquarters. I checked on the website yesterday and the closed locations are still listed. If you're heading to a Ten Ren, it might be a good idea to call or check on yelp to make sure that the store is still open. read more

Took a quick lunch break to grab some Ten Ren. The parking lot is crowded but there is plenty of spots in this plaza. It was pretty busy and there was a long line. The staff was quick to take orders and make drinks. I only waited 10-15 mins from getting in line to getting my drinks. I ordered a large 82. White Peach Pearl Green Tea and large 33. Passion Fruit Lover Mango Teazer (+ pearl for $0.75). They both taste good! I like the tea here. The passion fruit drink came with a chewy mango gummy which I liked. I recommend letting the drink melt a little since it is very icy and can be hard to sip. Boba is chewy. Don't forget to enter your phone number to earn reward points for each visit! read more

It is with pleasure that I present to you one of the finest local tea shops in Milpitas. Located in an Asian-themed plaza called City Square Center, Ten Ren of Milpitas is the place for you if you like your tea prominent and pure. As I have been a regular here, my recommendations are the regular Jasmine Green Milk Tea with pearls ($4) and the regular Roasted Oolong Milk Tea with pearls ($4). Though I don't usually get taro flavored anything, the Taro Black Milk Tea ($4) is exceptional here and uses real taro chunks. Know what you are going to get soon because the menu is huge. The biggest thing this place has going for it is how strongly brewed and concentrated the tea is. Most places offer tea drinks that are either not strong enough for my liking, or overcompensating in other areas. Ten Ren of Milpitas might just be the one place where you can comfortably order without needing to adjust sweetness or ice; the astringency may not be for everyone, but it's delightful if you're used to it like I am. Toppings are standard, but typically plentiful from my experience. Can vouch for their grass jelly being really good. First-timers ought to get the procedure down so they don't get confused when they arrive here. When you walk in, check to the person at the **right** counter first to start your order if you are purchasing a drink. Once you have successfully placed your order, pay at the **left** counter. You will need a minimum purchase of $7 to pay with credit cards; I tend to always have cash on me. Additional notes: as they are a tea shop, they also sell tea products in bulk. Generally good parking situation. Drinks will take around 30 seconds to 2 minutes each after requesting them in my experience. Lines are quite variable, but this place is well-known enough to have them especially in the afternoons. COVID guidelines have been met. 3 person max capacity inside. Rewards program available in the store. You will know quality when you experience it for yourself, and Ten Ren of Milipitas has you absolutely covered on that front. I have been to every Tea Station location internationally, every Cha for Tea location, and all of the Ten Ren locations in California and... I would only recommend the tea at this specific store. There's signs outside and inside the store reminding everyone exercise proper social distancing. I noticed that they had brown sugar milk tea flavored popcorn on the counter. I was intrigued, so I bought it to try. It was a very small bag for $5. It honestly tasted like caramel popcorn, just a milder flavor and not as sweet. Quaint tea shop. Ordered #80 which has grass jelly, taro chunks, boba with oolong honey tea. Love that you can taste the tea and the honey. It's perfect for people who like real tea taste and do not like their drinks too sweet. No need to adjust sweetness, and I even say it's the perfect amount of ice. This overall makes ordering easier. The drink had actual taro chunks which is a little chalky but later has a subtle sweetness to it. A long line but your drink comes by in a few minutes. Parking & Store - TenRen is a tea shop that also sells boba. Ample parking with a bunch of different stores around it. You can do some grocery shopping, grab a meal, or some pastries to-go. TenRen does not have seating so if you're looking to sit down and hang out with friends, I'd advise going somewhere else or taking your drinks to a nearby park. Drink - My go-to here is the Honey Green Tea with Aloe and Herbal Jelly (50% sweet and 50% ice). The tea overpowers the other ingredients slightly, so if you're into it, highly recommend! I don't know if the herbal jelly is made in-house or what but I like theirs particularly. Rewards - They also have a rewards program where you enter in your phone number and each time you order you get points. Been a regular customer for the past few years and the ladies working here are so superb and friendly a real joy coming out here, I've always have preference for matcha drinks and comes in large price at $5.75 or regular size $5.00 usually go for the large size 50% less sugar with blended ice order #39 which was the matcha teaser and sometimes #31 matcha coffee teaser. There's no place to sit nor outdoor seating it's more of a shop with a huge variety of Chinese tea/herb collection from organic to flavored tea and much more. I love ten ren for their simple high quality teas. I've ordered the roasted oolong, alishan honey oolong and osmanthus oolong and all of them are equally solid. Personally I like the Honey Alishan Oolong most, as the oolong taste comes out strong with some natural sweetness from the honey. Their mango green tea was also decently good and worth a try. I ended up liking ten ren so much, I bought their tea leaves to brew tea at home. Overall, solid teas, and great toppings as well. read more

The one thing to note is that they use REAL TEA! You will taste the tea and it can be pretty strong. If you're used to fake sugary creamy milk tea, then Ten Ren will be pretty different. Black Milk Tea w/ Pearls ($5.50 w/ cash) My preference for milk tea is for ones with stronger tea flavor (TP Tea Tie Guan is my #1). So when I tried this place, I was really disappointed. Ten Ren is known for their tea, so the boba isn't the best, but not bad at all; the boba is still chewy and has some sweetness to it and will still complement the drink. The shop is decently sized, they have a section for the tea making and the rest of the store is just all tea leaves that you can purchase. I've noticed how many boba places have upped their prices but TenRens is still really cheap for Bay Area boba. Majority of their regular sized drinks are $3.75 tax included. I ordered a large iced Strawberry green milk tea and it came with boba. I asked for less sweetness but it was still pretty sweet when I tried it. It was still pretty enjoyable. When the barista took down our orders she didn't write anything down so she ended up messing up my mom's drink in which she request aiyu in her drink but instead it ended up in my brother's drink instead. At that point though, we already paid since she gave the order to the cashier before we got our drinks done. The older lady was super friendly though since I typed in my phone number for 5Stars and noticed I qualify for a free drink after we finished paying but she assured that we can use it next time and that she didn't do anything to it.
