I FOUND HAIR IN MY TAKEOUT ORDER!! Normally I don't write reviews but I had to for this one. We ordered takeout for vegetable stir fry with rice and vegetable rolls. As soon as we opened the box I found a hair on the tofu and I immediately threw it out. The sushi also looked very strange- it almost looked like they put together whatever was left at the end of the day- soggy carrot, broccoli, etc I have never eaten a vegetable roll with these ingredients. Seems like things they would put in a stir fry dish. Threw out everything! Never going back there again. If I could give 0 or negative stars I would.

I have a gluten allergy and this place not only has the best quality sushi I've had, but they also have been extremely accommodating and gone out of their way to make sure I felt safe. My mom and I have gone there together multiple times and the manager always came over to check on us and even suggested that we both have the gluten free soy sauce to eliminate the risk of cross contamination (my mom even said that she likes the gluten free soy sauce better than regular soy sauce.) I have so so much love for this place and the staff is always incredible and makes us feel important. It's around 45 minutes from me and we will be taking another trip over there some time this week and planning our day around going there because it is always worth the trip.

Wow, never knew of this place in Syosset til my friends and I came for dinner recently. Very friendly owner, staff and service and this place has been here for a long time. The owner knows many of the local customers who eat in or take out. Eat in or take out, you cannot go wrong. Shared parking lot with other stores. Sushi bar has some seating and there are 2 tvs to watch sports while you eat as well. Large variety on the menu and some dishes are gluten free...just ask your server. Check out the daily specials as well. Been here twice already and the food is really good. Very nice and generous of the owner to give us stuffed shitake with crabmeat and salmon as a complimentary appetizer to try. I highly recommend ordering this appetizer on the menu. Appetizers: Gyoza and tuna tartar are delicious Entrees: Sushi is made fresh and the special combo boxes are a good value. I've had the sashimi box twice and still have yet to finish it. It comes with miso soup and salad, california roll, and crab meat tempura, shrimp and veggie tempura! Chicken katsu, beef nagimaki, salmon terriyaki were all delicious as well. Hot green tea helps digestion. Make sure to save room for dessert...have t come back to have the fried banana and fried ice cream. Nice of the restaurant to give complimentary fruit for dessert to clean the palatte.

I got take out from here and I highly recommend it! I got the sushi combo where I could pick 10 pieces of sushi and 1 roll. I liked that I could select which sushi I wanted since most combos pick for you. This option is unique and I really enjoyed it! I will definitely be back.

Excellent service and really great sushi, we were well taken care of. Especially aware of food allergies.

This is such a cozy sushi spot. I've been here twice and had a great meal and service both times. I've ordered the California Roll, Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Yellowtail and the Miso Soup. The first time I came an unexpected snow storm came to NY and it was just the perfect touch of warmth. The staff made sure we were good and even the owner came out to make sure we were enjoying our meal a couple of times. I noticed that the owner stopped to talk to a couple of guests who seemed like regulars. Which was nice to see. You want to go where people know your name and care. He was asking about their families and such. We also got some Shittake and fruit on the house! Yum I will definitely be back.

My brother-in-law took us to this storefront Japanese restaurant. Small with a very nice and broad menu. Very fresh The owner who is constantly circulating around the 2 dining rooms brought us Fried Mushrooms complementary, really good. I had the sashimi dinner that had 16 pieces of 5 different fishes, very fresh. Comes with soup or salad. I tried the salad with an excellent carrot-ginger dressing. My wife ordered a California Roll with brown rice and a Vegetable Tempura , assorted veggies, both very good. Highly recommend Tenjin Sushi.

Sushi is always fresh !! The owner Steve is a super nice guy ! Will make any roll you want if it's not on the menu . This restaurant has been around for well over 15 years . They must be doing something right !

This place is soooo good…read more I come here often for my sushi fix. Ordered a chicken satay for the appetizer and it was bomb. Just make sure you aren't allergic to peanuts. otherwise, the sauce they give you to dip it in is otherworldly. I tried 3 of their specialty rolls on my most recent trip. The Crazy Roll (spicy tuna, yellowtail, salmon, crunch, avocado & cucumber) delivered a nice spicy kick with great texture from the crunch. The Super Dragon Roll (panko eel, avocado topped with julienne crab and red tobiko) was rich and satisfying. The panko gave it a nice crunch while the toppings brought sweetness and color. The Sweetheart Roll was a solid pick too, with a good balance of tempura, crab, and the smoked salmon/cooked shrimp on top. The fish tasted fresh overall, rice was properly seasoned, and the presentations were appealing. Service was friendly and the spot has a comfortable vibe for a casual sushi dinner. Portions are satisfying without being overwhelming. After I finished, I felt satiated but not stuffed. I'm ready to come back again to try more rolls. Give this place a shot!

The service is also really fast and the waitress is really nice. I've also come a couple of times for lunch with friends and the place usually isn't packed. Their sushi is pretty good for what it is and is just a classic for a night you don't want to make dinner. I haven't really tried anything else on the menu to say much about that but maybe another time!

Consequently, I've had the privilege of trying out multiple of their dishes. To start off, I usually come in around 4PM on my off time and there are plenty of seats available. That said, I cannot attest for how the service or fud is during more bustling hours. When you sit down, the waiter brings these jars of cold water. Extremely helpful during a hot summer day. When I first arrived, I had the Shrimp Tempura Ramen. The tempura was perfect and crunchy, but I didn't think the actual ramen was anything special. The marinated egg was runny, the bamboo shoots were the good type of sour, and the ramen was easily gripped by the chopsticks. My second time here I ordered the Spicy Tantan Ramen and the Karaage Calamari. The ramen lived up to its name, the tantan was flavorful, the bok choy soaked up the broth extremely well, the bean sprouts were delicious as well. The Karaage Calamari earned my favorite appetizer award. The sauce that came with it helped the flavor. My third time here I went for the Sukiyaki Beef Udon, which was by far my favorite on the list. The broth was umami and rich, the udon was chewy, the beef wasn't dry, and the bok choy and bean sprouts once again soaked up the broth. I'm typically neutral to umami foods, but this dish made me question my standing. My fourth time here I went for the Seafood Udon, which consisted of mussels, shrimp, saffron, mushroom, bean sprouts, scallions, bok choy, and even some chili. The chili was a very nice touch and I enjoyed the mushrooms very cc car much. I also got takeout from this restaurant which was Takoyaki and the Tonkatsu Curry Ramen. I did not take photos because I wouldn't have done it justice. The Takoyaki was delicious and hot, I suggest waiting for it to cool down before digging in. The Tonkatsu Curry Ramen was good and the Tonkatsu was crispy. I would also like to shoutout my waitress for refilling my water without me asking, I'm a chugger and a bit socially awkward so I have a hard time asking for stuff so this was greatly appreciated. They also sell merch--imagine my surprise when I saw vocaloid merch hung up at the back--$25 for each. I GIVE THIS PLACE A CC CAR 5* RATING

The owner, Kelly, also greeted us. Kelly is always warm and gracious, and her wonderful smile truly brightens the entire room. Since we arrived a little earlier tonight, we settled into our usual large booth by the front, our favorite spot. It was cozy and comfortable, making the evening even more relaxing. The sushi has been consistently fresh and delicious. We usually order the Sushi for Two to share, but tonight, after finishing our first order, we immediately ordered a second one. It was simply that good--and we couldn't stop! We did the exact same thing last week, which says a lot about how much we enjoy the sushi here. The Sushi for Two generally includes 18 pieces of premium-quality fish, such as King Salmon, Bluefin Tuna, Fatty Tuna, Madai, Branzino, and more, along with a choice of two signature makimono rolls. We always choose the Dozo Dozo for me and the Angel Roll for hubby. Each order also comes with a choice of soup or salad, and we always go with the soup. Tonight, we also ordered a large bottle of chilled Dassai 45 sake. It was aromatic, fruity, and slightly sweet, with a wonderfully smooth and flavorful taste that paired beautifully with the sushi. We enjoyed it so much that we wished we could finish the entire bottle, but since we had to drive home, we stopped halfway and took the rest home with us. We were actually happy to have some left to enjoy later at home. Another wonderful evening, and another reminder of why we keep coming back almost every week!

The fish is well prepared for sushi that there is none of that fishiness. Nigiri is made at the right firmness unlike rice ball like sushi we often see. Roll has none of that over powering taste. Miso soup is proper and again, none of the salty soup we often experience. Combined with proper Gali (pickled ginger) and better than average wasabi, you can enjoy really good sushi. A class above others in the area.
