Quaint little brunch place in Queen Anne. They do not take reservations so try to get there earlier. We walked in around 10:30 am and were lucky to get a table. The menu is not too elaborate. Usual tasty American breakfast. They did have Mexican scramble. The special was really good - Apple sausage links, eggs m, baguette bread pieces(two slices) and fresh fruit. Food took unusually longer to get to ya but was worth the wait. They serve delicious French press coffee which we enjoyed a lot! It's definitely worth your penny and a weekend brunch visit. Wow. Just wow. From the local small business vibe to the food everything here was to die for. As my boyfriend said about the Coffee Cake with Melted Butter "This may be the best thing I've EVER eaten." And I would second that. Every bite of food we had, both vegetarian options and meat, was an absolute joy. Quotes throughout the meal include: "This isn't right" (about how good it was", "this bagel is insanely good" and lots of silence from happy eating. I walked out the door and immediately wanted to turn around for more even though I was stuffed. All she had to say (yell out) was we shut at 1.00 pm with a scowl on her face and an expression like we were trespassing, in response to us politely saying hi with a smile to her. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I found this restaurant on Yelp. All I knew is that the food looked so good in all the pictures. My friend and I ended up giving this new (to us) place a go. It took us to a suburban neighborhood, which wasn't anticipated - but we loved it and the location of this place! We found parking on the street immediately. The service was laid back. Open despite ice on the road, snow on the sidewalks and a chill to shrink the manliest of men. Not that I am the manliest of men, per se. I mean, I got the goods *ahem*, know what I'm sayin'? Well, not like goods like a sawed-off shotgun, but it ain't no pea-shooter, neither. More like a 9 mm. But in Centimeters. Wait, how many inches is that? What? Oh, so Icebox grocery has a cute little bare-bones selection, and despite the small-batch orders they receive of the merch, they are priced quite fairly for the convenience. And while the selection is, well, take-it-or-leave-it, the products they DO carry are only the creme de la creme. The deli has fresh sandys and soups, and pasta salads and pastries all made in-house. Whether I'm desperate or lazy, I enjoy Icebox. And the loveliest of smiles in all Queen Anne's Kingdom can be found here. I live a very tedious exhausting life. a lot of people will probably read that first line and be like "great... heeeeeeere we go", but it's true. Like my father, and his father before him, i am nude yoga instructor who Moonlights as a gangster rap producer on the side. Why is this relevant you ask? Well i'll tell you! To do i what i do (the way i do it) you must maintain a very balanced and well thought out diet. For me i am able to find all the nutritional values my body requires in-between naked yoga sessions and mixing the next Master P record right here at the ICEBOX. I've had almost every item on the menu and i've never missed a beat or slipped on my own sweat while doing a super bad ass naked downward dog. I'll suggest this place to ALL my yoga clients (if i ever get some) and i have personally shared a cup of the fruit salad with 3 out of the 5 members of the Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. while sitting on their delightful patio on a warm summers day. We came here because the reviews looked good, the pictures of the food were promising, and the location is close to our house. While the concept of a cute little neighborhood grocery/deli is good, unfortunately Icebox failed to meet my expectations on a few levels. Our brunch, for two plates and a french press cost $28. The price would indicate a higher end brunch. Some of the vegetables in my vegetable scramble were frozen, not fresh. The temperature inside, in November, was around 80 degrees. I understand this might be tough to control but it was quite uncomfortable eating hot food and drinking coffee in a sweater. Ugh, and the coffee was kind of bland and bitter. On the positive side, the people were nice and welcoming and that warrants +1 star. read more

I absolutely love this food (plus owner Linda and Vicki are great)! I'm a frontline RN and Tenth West has been generously providing me (and some of their patrons with cancer) with their delicious homemade and freshly created meals. Wow! And because Tenth West uses real ingredients, fake flavor additives that trigger my migraines are absent so I've been able to enjoy everything from their creamy Tomato Bisque and Broccoli Cheddar soups, to their hearty sandwiches, homemade breads, lovely pecan coffee cake, breakfast potatoes, chewy chocolate chip cookies and rice crispy treats. Food is delicious! Fresh ingredients, prepared very nicely with a simple and clean approach. Nothing complex or fancy here...just well executed, clean, fresh food. For those with young children, this seems to be a popular spot. However, kid sounds can be overwhelming quickly in the small dining room. Only down side of the experience was service, which was rather slow and inattentive. Getting attention of the (very) young waitstaff was challenging for refills, etc - and we waited for quite a while for the check before helping ourselves to check out at the counter. It turned out that this was standard procedure, but there was no signage, and the server did not inform us. Definitely will go back for the food. read more

Delicious food- I had a bagel sandwich with a side of fresh fruit! The fruit had berries, grapes, pineapple, watermelon, and a few honeydew. The Icebox is just down the street from my house, otherwise I'm not sure I would have discovered it since it's in a strange little 1-block commercial area surrounded by houses. I like the way I can rush in for something I forgot to get for my latest cooking project - they have a surprisingly well-stocked grocery area. But it's the lunches that really shine for me. They make very generous sandwiches, packed with goodies and accompanied by your choice of a long list of sides such as potato salad, soup, etc. Their daily specials are always intriguing. I like to take my dad there every other week or so, and they treat us like old friends. Yesterday, for example, we tasted all their red wines to decide what to order with our lunch. I had a lamb shepherds pie that was delicious, and it came with a small salad that included toasted pumpkin seeds and sliced radishes - little details that make a big difference to me. Since I walk by the Icebox frequently, I've noticed that they seem to be very popular for early dinners and weekend brunches, too. Guess I'll have to check those out as well! read more

Girlfriend and I went late on a Saturday morning. Place was busy, but several tables were open and per instructions from the server, we seated ourselves outside. Twenty minutes later, she came out and took our order. After an additional forty minutes without service (during which another patron was seated and served his coffee+cake right next to us), we informed the woman that we were leaving. It's so nice to find an old-fashioned neighborhood store/deli that hits it out of the park. First, the sandwiches and food is always excellent: the tuna salad is hand shredded so fine, that I imagine French Laundry will find it perfect, and it's also not over-mayo'ed. The soup is always perfect, always fresh and delicious. The gazpacho on a summer day is divine. Rumor has it that there are secret sandwiches that are not on the menu, but that's all I can say in public. The decor is down home and quirky, and the service is supreme. Lauryn and Hang Yee is just about as friendly as your own sister and aunt, always looking out for the customers. Every neighborhood ought to have a shop like this, but only W. YUM! Great place to grab a delicious panini, salad, snack, or sweet. We stumbled upon this gem while waiting for a massage appt next door. The special panini I had (chicken breast, tomatoes, onion, and dijion on rye) was sooooooo good. The side beet salad with blue cheese and pistachios put a smile on my face, and we also split a chocolate chip cookie- and no joke, it was one of the best cookies I have had in months! Deserves 4.5 stars. Recommended by the barista at my fave cafe in queen anne who pretty much commanded me to go there for lunch. Probably the best commandment I've received in a seattle. Place is relentlessly charming--reminds me of a better version of the road side deli shoppes in Napa. That's right. BETTER THAN NAPA. It's weird to think that you're seconds from queen anne ave, because you fee like you should be surrounded by slab wood houses and majestic dirt roads. I chomped on my corned beef sandwich (I'm a reuben-aholic, but I'm trying to cut back) while sitting on the wooden bench they have in the front room. Side salad was perfect with diced cukes that added a crunch with less guilt than croutons. It could've been bigger. I'm used to ginormous deli sandwiches, so the quantity left me wistful. I sat at a little table with my fresh brewed iced tea and took in the quaint atmosphere. My food arrived and it looked great, and it tasted even better! So many veggies, lovely cut up fruit and two slices of baguette. I devoured it and thought about when I could return. The lunch options look great, too! The owner is super nice and she is trying to provide a descent selection of food with some beer and wine. I can see where she is going with this but the prices are a little high and it closes really early. It would have 5 stars if they increased the selection of beers, to something a little closer to a Bottleworks or Wholefoods and if they dropped their sandwich prices by about a dollar.
