What?!?! I didn't know they even moved. It's Sunday, Father's Day, and I was out shopping early and wanted to get an iced latte from Teofilo in Los Alamitos. Luckily I turn to Yelp a lot and come to find the their Los Al location is CLOSED! Whaaa? Welp, skurried on to the 405 and headed straight to their new location of C-Arson, lol. Omg the place is so pretty and it's big. Met one of the workers and I told her I had to miss out on the yelp event. She told me it was fun. Anywaaaay, since I was here, had to get two drinks for myself and my bf got a drink to (coz I was being thoughtful coz he is my baby daddy, lololol). I ordered Halo Halo iced latte annnnnd the coconut matcha. He got the Hi-Si. Couldn't resist, had to get something to nibble on, Ube coffee cake. Halo Halo iced coffee had all the classic flavors in it. Just make sure when u receive your drink, u have to Mix-Mix. That's the only way to get the flavors together and lessen the bitterness of the coffee. Coconut matcha I saved for later to blend at home. It was so yummy. Hi-Si, more hibiscus flavor and not overly sweet. Perfect for the summer heat. As for the ube coffee cake, I saved it and had it for breakfast (warmed up of course) the next day. read more

I tried the pumpkin spice latte here and it was absolutely amazing! The baristas were super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The coffee shop is very spacious with a few seats and tables inside and outside, though it does get packed...I went on a Saturday afternoon, so it was pretty busy. Came out on June 22 to support some friends. It was first time coming here. I loved all the different tea options because I'm not a coffee drinker. I also had their steamed bun which was the perfect size of my palm filled with chicken. Service was pretty quick considering how busy it got once I placed my order. I saw that the Ube latte was very popular so I believe I will ne coming back to try it. The coffee how is nice size inside kinda wished there was outdoor seating. The staff is very nice too. Came to Teofilo the other day to try out a different coffee shop where I can just hangout and take care of some stuff. Was greeted upon walking into the shop and immediately felt welcomed. The barista asked if I had any questions, I informed her that it's my first time here; which she replied to take my time. Was going to get a matcha latte but wanted to get an espresso, but she recommended getting a dirty matcha latte (which for me who is new to drinking coffee immediately said "Yes!") lol. The service was super quick and efficient which was pleasant. Was able to set up my items and spent some much needed time doing what I came to do. The music was a total vibe and the atmosphere was soothing, refreshing and calm which is what I live for. Definitely found my new coffee shop that I will be coming back for times to come. Usually love this place since it's grand opening. I went in the other day and did not recognize the cashier or barista. I got the "Dirty Killa" which is my favorite drink on the menu, this time it was one of the worst pulls of espresso I've ever had. They also were out of stock of all their beans which sucks because I'm a big fan of their Barako beans, it's all I use. My drink had pieces of espresso at the bottom and a very disturbing and bitter taste-- this was my first time not finishing a drink from Teo Filo. I will return for coffee beans but I can make a much better cup at home going forward. I wish I was able to call before coming in to find out if they have beans in stock. read more

I love supporting Filipino entrepreneurs and preservers of our culture, however, I'll do my best to write a comprehensive or objective review based on my visit. The homies took me here the day after I flew in and they wanted to grab some coffee before starting our day running errands. It's great that there's a Filipino cafe that carries barako coffee beans from the Philippines. Great & ambitious concept and loved the space where the cafe sits. Lots of free parking in their designated parking garage. So let's start off with the food and drink review... I picked up the strawberry matcha and the biko mais (coconut sticky rice with corn). I felt compelled writing this because I wasn't a fan of the strawberry syrup they used. The matcha was a bit astringent and the color looked murky. It was clear to me that this drink is not made with a ceremonial grade matcha. The color was off. It's not at all the vibrant green that some matcha drinkers DO expect. So if you're expecting a ceremonial grade matcha, it is not. However, I enjoyed the biko mais had the right amount of sweetness. I did however tried an iced coffee and it tasted good. I keep hearing about the the bibingka latte which they didn't offer on the menu while we were there but I guess I'll have to wait the next time when I'm in town again. My boyfriend picked up the sourdough ube cinnamon roll, a bit too sweet and the cinnamon roll was quite tiny and dense. Not sure how the price point equates to the size of the baked cinnamon roll though. I'd skip it. However, they do outsource their baked goods from a local filipino baker. Our friend ordered the steamed pork bun and the staff didn't check that it was frozen before giving it to him. Staff needs to cross-check and iron out the expediting process to ensure quality control. I found the staff at the register to be helpful and friendly. I'll update my review next time if we come back here. For a business to have closed 2 locations in SoCal then to open this location in Carson; seem to not be able to get basic things down right. I really hope they get into the swing of things for a smooth expedition of their QC. read more

First visit after hearing this opening up in the neighborhood. The vibe and interior is very chic and open, feels very comfortable to hang out. In the menu, we got the strawberry matcha and tried the plain ensaymada! The strawberry matcha or the matcha in general is good, if you are a matcha connoisseur, it might be one of the mid tier ones but it does it well enough for us casual drinkers. The ensaymada is not one of their fresh pastries, but give it a little time to thaw from it being fridged and it hits the sweet spot! Will have to come back to try to fresh ones like the ube coffee cake, they were already out by the time we visited. The staff are courteous and prompt, got the goods pretty quickly! The only cons are the parking situation but that's not the business problem lol! read more

I really wanted to love this place--I enjoy supporting small businesses. The prices seemed fair, and they offered a nice variety of tea and coffee, but unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. My group tried a few different drinks: the Bibingka Latte, Killa Matcha, and Hibiscus Tea with Mango Foam. The coffee itself wasn't very strong and mostly tasted like sweet milk. The baristas were kind enough to offer extra espresso shots, but even then, it didn't make much of a difference. The matcha wasn't well-mixed and had noticeable clumps. That said, I did enjoy the calamansi juice. My mother-in-law wished her tea was sweeter, though I understand that brewed teas are typically unsweetened--it would have been nice to have sweetener packets available. Overall, it just wasn't the right fit for my personal taste, as I prefer a stronger coffee profile. However, I know that not every place will cater to everyone's preferences. I truly wish this business success and hope that with time, they'll refine some of the smaller details. read more

I'd been to the original Los Alamitos location out of curiosity to pick up green coffee beans from the Philippines to roast. They then opened up this location closer to my home and it's become a family favorite for getting coffee (and tea). My son likes the Mount Milo because he's a fan of mocha style coffee. As for me, I'm split between their espresso and their calamansi iced tea. There's lots of seating and it has a relaxed vibe for hanging out and enjoying your order if not taking it to go. Last visit I ordered an aeropress coffee, and despite the extra effort it took for the barista to make it, he was really pleased to have someone order one and took the time to describe the process to me. I am in agreement with the company's tag line, "Now I Can Drink Black Coffee." Every coffee drink I have ordered here, I have indeed drank black and felt no need to add milk. read more

I really wanted to love this place . It's Filipino-owned and they have my current favorite drink that's unique to them. I've spent a lot of money here trying to support them, but the customer service is genuinely some of the worst I've experienced. The baristas never seem friendly, never smile, and speak so quietly that I often miss when my drink is ready. I've had to ask for my drink to be remade multiple times because it's made incorrectly - sometimes way too sweet, sometimes basically white like there's no espresso at all, other times with minimal milk so it's now an Americano and not a latte? One barista even told me that the way I like my drink isn't how it's "supposed" to be made, even though other baristas had made it that way before. There is no consistency. I've been putting off writing this review for a long time, always hoping they'd change my mind, but after so many visits, nothing's improved. I did speak with the owner once, and I respect their values and what they're trying to do with the shop. That's basically the only reason I've continued to come back - to support the business (and get that one favorite drink). If you're looking for a welcoming, consistent coffee experience, this isn't it. The drinks are hit or miss, and the service really needs improvement. I was excited to a see a new coffee shop in the area so I rushed to try them during their soft opening however I felt kind of disappointed by the experience. The staff were friendly for the most part, but nothing awe inspiring that would make me feel welcomed and excited to come back. The first drink I tried was the SHAKEN BIBINGKA. I was told it would be more caramel forward but it tasted mostly like coconut. It was good but nothing, again, awe inspiring. I had a friend rave about the UBE LATTE so I went back the next day to try this and it did not taste like ube (Yeems ube latte is to die for compared to this) and instead tasted like I received burnt espresso and milk... I do hope that things get better as they grow and would love to see them prosper in the city. The ambiance is cute, simple and still seems to be under construction but I like that it looks like they intend some cool merch and there's quite a bit of seating if you ever want to come get work done. read more

I finally visited this place yesterday! The inside is very spacious with lots of spots to study. They also have outlets for your devices as well which is a plus for me because I always need a port to charge my laptop! As for the drinks, my family and I got a Milo, ube latte, and green tea with mango cream!! All of them were delicious. My favorite was the Milo!! And the Ube latte wasn't too sweet which is perfect!! I hate to be a downer. I don't trust places that makes coffee in the back kitchen. Ordering takes forever. This place made me wanna drive back to Starbucks, and I hate supporting big corporations, but thankfully there is Thai donut place nearby and even they serve coffee, much much quicker and in front of you. Let's not make coffee boujie, just brew and serve. No reason for us to be sitting about for 30 minutes waiting for a small size drink. 5 stars for being filipino owned. Zero star for service and flavor. Any filipino uncle would tell you to just pour a hot water and prepacked coffee powder and that's your typical morning drinking on the house porch. This ain't it. I've been a fan of Teofilo from their Los Alamitos location, so I had to check out the new Carson spot--and honestly, its totally worth the drive. I got the shaken bibingka and a rice krispy treat, and both were super good. The drink is packed with flavor, and paired with the rice krispy from cafe dochi, it hits the spot. The shop itself is pretty spacious with lots of seating, which is a nice change from their old location. The staff is super friendly and really cool, really welcoming vibe overall.
