We got the teppen spicy and teppen shio ramen and my favorite of the two was definitely the shio ramen. The broth was superrr flavorful and I love the noodles they used. The spicy ramen was just okay imo because the broth was too overpowered by spice but it wasn't spicy at the same time. Each bowl was a regular portion size and the pricing is typical nyc. Ramen isn't always on the top of my list for food cravings but Teppen wasn't bad! We ordered the Teppen Shio, Teppen Spicy, and their limited quantity of Dan Dan Ramen. The broth for each of the soups were similar but had a slightly different taste at the same time. I got the Teppen Shio, which wasn't too rich and creamy and also not too salty. Sadly it only came with 2 slices of pork, but was overall just the right amount of food. If you're looking for a quick ramen fix, Teppen would be a good place to try. The service was decent, they didn't bother us too much which is what I prefer. When we were done though, it seemed like they were rushing to get us to leave, as they cleaned up our dishes like 5-10 minutes after they gave our card back to sign off on the tip. I thought that was a bit weird especially since the restaurant wasn't full and usually servers clean up the dishes while you ask for the check. Besides that, the restaurant was kind of small and was located below street level, so if there is a handicapped person or if you have a large stroller for a child, it'll be a bit hard to go down the stairs. an uninspiring ramen spot that is a bit expensive for what you get. both the food and inside decor were forgettable. i found the ramen broth weirdly creamy instead of light as with normal shio and the shio taste wasnt strong. the egg was also fully cooked through like a regular boiled egg. chashu was ok and I liked that the black fungus was topped dry but the only other topping was scallions. in an age where ramen places dot every few blocks in manhattan, its hard for me to think of a reason to visit this place unless the location is convenient for you. read more

Service (5/5): I visited on a Saturday afternoon and there was only 1 other party there and an overabundance of wait staff. So I felt I was properly attended to. This is somewhat of a hole in the wall; it didn't seem to have too much seating, but my group of four didn't have any trouble getting a table around 6:15pm for dinner. I ended up ordering the shoyu ramen which had a rich broth and these straight, more firm, noodles. I did appreciate the flavor of the soup-- it was a bit heavier and fattier than I'd like it to be, but for a ramen broth it was pretty standard. As some others have been saying, the noodle to broth ratio was off-- though I appreciated the amount of noodles I got, I definitely would have preferred more broth to go with them. Jury's still out on whether or not I liked the straight noodles, but I'm going to say they didn't really detract or add to my overall experience. They were just a little different! I didn't grab a photo of it, but we also ordered the fried tofu as an appetizer. It was really lacking that crunch that you look for in this dish, which made it regular tofu. I do love regular tofu, but not when I'm expecting that crisp of the classic fried tofu dish. I wouldn't recommend getting this one. Stopped by at around 11PM after a Broadway show with a party of 2, and it was one of the locations that was open. The restaurant was empty as expected. We started off with the kimchi and shishito appetizer. Great way to kick off our meal! I got the shoyu ramen and it was delicious!! So refreshing for a cold day, it hit the spot for sure. Amazing ramen restaurant. Teppan has super late hours which is perfect when you're hungry late at night. We came here around 1am. There was only 1 waiter who was running around setting tables, taking orders, bringing food - so he was super busy. It's a cold windy New York evening, and all we wanted was soup! Eureka! She found one that was 4 blocks from where we staying at the Pierre in Central Park. We bundled up, and off we go on our adventure. Teppen is a hole in the wall Japanese Ramen, where you had to go down a basement to get to the restaurant. Once you open the door to this tiny, quaint establishment, you are immediately annihilated by the delicious smell coming out of the kitchen. We arrived a little after 800PM, so the place was still packed with dinner crowds, but we were able to find a corner table. We poured over the menu, and pondered what to order, since it all looked delicious. I went with their vegetarian ramen. The broth was made of soy milk, which was rich in flavor (I asked for extra broth to take back to the hotel) the noodles were egg free, and handmade. The ramen was topped with 2 crispy fried tofu, bamboo shoots, mushroom, chili oil, mixed salad, scallions. My date opted for their fried rice, which had bits of char shu pork, bamboo shoots. It must've been delicious as well, since her bowl was clean. She also had the mango mochi, which was delicious! It was a far cry from the frozen mochi you would get at your local supermarket. The freshness of the mango, and the thin layer of gluttonous rice was a perfect ending to a delicious meal. Highly recommended when you're in Manhattan. read more

I loved everything about this place. Lately I've been eating out by myself and I enjoy it. I wasnt the only one either. I felt comfortable. This was one of the best ramen spots. I was so full but the flavors made me keep eating more and more. I also ordered a app special that came with wings- I couldnof passed, gyoza- delicious and some other kinda shrimp dumplin. I've been here like two years ago and this place still doesn't miss. It's just down to earth, comfy Japanese cooking. Whether it's a warm light pleasant bowl of ramen or a filling Donburi or curry, you'll get a very pleasant Japanese comfort meal at a very reasonable price point. It brings me no joy to have to write this review because this is actually one of my favorite places to eat ramen. It seems that for some odd reason every time I rave about a place it happens to make it more difficult for me to dine in. But I've been coming here for years and after pandemic or was it more recently. The store hours no longer stay open as late as 2am-4am. I felt compelled to now have to put this restaurant in the spotlight. This place has AMAZING ramen. I'm sure in a city that has a seemingly endless options of places to grab ramen from. For me, this place stands out as the best. There is only one or two outside tables and the inside is a bit small. But that is what I actually like about this place. It has the feel of how ramen shops are in Japan. Now, if you come in a bigger group you may need to come off peak hours. But for solo dining or if you are bringing a party of 2, you should be fine having no wait time. I do wonder as I am writing this how long the wait will be the next time I revisit. But I rather this shop stay open and maybe even bring back those really late night hours for those who work really late night hours. Than to let this place continue to go relatively unknown. Aside from ramen, their takoyakis are on point as well as many of their other side dish offers. Alcohol is also available so you will be having quite the dinner for sure.
