Yes! This place is worthy of 5 stars....unless you like Taco Bell, then this is NOT your place. Uniquely prepared and presented, excellent taste, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. We had the Jalapeño Poppers appetizer. Which is NOT a typical frozen popper. It's 3 giant Jalapeños stuffed with cheese and deep fried. Wonderful choice for those looking for Mexican food with flair. Started off with Paloma Morada, a tequila cocktail recommended by our server. Delicious, tart, with a touch of beet sweetness. We ordered pork tacos and salmon tacos. Both were delicious. My husband thought the pineapple was a strong flavor in the salmon, but I thought it was a balanced combo. We both agreed we would eagerly return to discover more menu items. Service was really great too. A great addition to the Anchorage food scene. read more

The first time we visited, the tacos were delicious. Great fresh ingredients and unique sauces and salsas. Not so a year later. Recently got takeout here - clearly not their forte. Ordered four types of tacos and each was served without any of the sauces or salsas listed on the menu. All were dry and bland. When we discovered this and called the restaurant we were told none of the tacos was supposed to be served with any sauce or salsa (despite the listing on the menu). Eventually were begrudgingly given a couple containers of generic salsa, which were not the missing ingredients from our order listed on the menu. Also one of the orders was packed upside down - instead of tacos, we got a pile of ingredients in a heap in the box. Ended up throwing most of the order away. read more

My son told me this is an excellent place for dinner and drinks so we stopped in at lunch while in town. Jalapeño Salad with chicken was fresh and different. (Both unusual for the Anchorage lunch scene). Everything is made from scratch and you can really tell these people have an affinity for food and comfort. The server was friendly and knowledgable. I went there for lunch today. Everything about the restaurant was unfriendly. I was there at 11:30 am the restaurant wasn't busy the server acted like I was bothering her. I asked a couple of questions about what was in their sauces...I do this because I have sensitivities to many stabilized sauces...mayonnaise would be one! I don't want to be sick. I ordered Chili Relleno...certainly not what I got. If you are going to be so different from what your guests expect, you need to have staff that can answer questions. And you need to have a description of what you are serving...a half a baguette with bean spread and there may have been a chili in that mess somewhere...it wasn't the main feature:( My mistake was not ordering the half price tacos on Tuesday...maybe you should only serve tacos on Tuesday. read more

This is my experience. Bartender was not friendly enough to make me feel welcome. Didn't even ask if I wanted another drink. I hate sitting at the counter. I wanted a table. Stopped in here for lunch on 14 May because it was close to the arts and craft fair. It was pretty empty, but turned out to be excellent! Service: attentive, informative, friendly. The server was great, and the manager even came out to chat. Menu: admittedly on the small side. However, very unique and I think most people could find something appetizing. Food: all around just excellent! Salmon tacos and carnitas tacos were incredible, chipotle salsa was perfectly smooth and smoky. Sweet potato chips and guacamole were great. Decor: eclectic, but really interesting. We all discussed the decor and decided we really enjoyed it. Drinks: two margaritas and a gin & tonic. The margaritas were excellent. This is now one of my new favorite places. We got the guacamole and the queso for appetizers. The guacamole was fresh and pleasingly acidic. The queso was smoky and well balanced. We got three types of tacos to share. The shrimp, the salmon, and the carnitas. I would highly recommend all three. They were very different from each other and creatively paired with their respective toppings. The jicama shrimp taco was my favorite. Very creative and well done. We finished with the brownie for dessert. The brownie was fresh, home made, and had a beautiful presentation. For some reason they were not serving alcohol tonight which was disappointing because the drink menu is impressive, creative and fresh. Will be back! read more

Great location and ambiance! The menu is interesting and broad. We were in a large group and we really enjoyed the setting and decor. The margaritas were awesome. Drinks were fast, food was slow. I had the pork chop and was very disappointed. It was very thick, dry lump with way too much salt on it ( hardly edible). The Brussels sprouts that came with it were only 2 little heads sliced up. Went there with 8 people. The atmosphere was good. Nice location and nice setup. The service was horrible. We had to remind the waitress that she hadn't taken our food order yet. When she initially took our drink order, she forgot the two individuals at the end of the table with us. When the food came, all the carne asada steak tacos were cold and the meat was rare and bloody. At the end, the waitress took our credit cards and when she returned, she dropped all the checks at the end of the table, piled up, and said bye. It was 28 $ for 4 pieces of bacon wrapped shrimp with cream cheese and jalapeño slices inside.
