I love this place! It definitely doesn't hurt that it's patio view is the water and boats. The hot chips and kick butt salsa is where your taste buds will get excited first. Then you have to have a margarita of course! My favs are Raspberry, mango, and I just discovered this almond one YUM! I prefer mine on the rocks. I like to taste my alcohol. Was in Long Beach for the day and decided to come to Tequila Jack's for a quick lunch with my boyfriend. The place is pretty spacious and has both indoor seating and outdoor seating. We were seated right away. It was a beautiful, sunny day so we opted to sit outside. Being right by the water gave it a very scenic view that made lunch that much more enjoyable. For starters, we ordered the guacamole. This is a must order. The chips were already provided with salsa but the meal wouldn't be complete without guacamole! They make the guacamole tableside so you definitely know it's fresh. For entrees, I ordered the chilaquiles, which was topped off with pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, avocado, and a sunny side egg and a side of refried beans. My boyfriend ordered the taquitos, which came with rice, refried beans and guacamole. The chilaquiles was filling and a good portion for lunch. The tortilla chips were thick and crunchy and held up under the weight of all its toppings. The refried beans were alright, I prefer mine a little bit of a thicker and chunkier consistency. For the taquitos, the meal came with two only, which is a little on the small side. The rice also wasn't very flavorful. It didn't hold together well on the fork when trying to pick it up as the rice was too dry and the grains separated from each other. Overall, it was a decent Mexican restaurant but by no means is the best Mexican food I have ever tried. Food is mediocre but not the most flavorful. I highly recommend this place for either Happy Hour (M-F 3-6) or Taco Tuesday (3-10), and in doing so I also highly recommend getting there *early* for the best and freshest tacos. ($1 Tacos, $4 House Margaritas.) Their margaritas are delicious, and all five of their taco selections are fantastic, though I still have yet to fully fall in love with the grilled veggie taco. My faves are the fish and carnitas tacos. I wouldn't recommend this place for regular dinner, however. I find their dinner menu items to be pretty uninspiring, and not quite flavorful enough on either the Mexican end or the American end (since this really is a fusion place). It is a lot of fun to hang out with friends by the water, though, and 9 times out of 10 their salsa is amazing, made fresh there. I had an amazing experience here at Tequila Jack's! I was in town for my birthday and we wanted Mexican and we weren't disappointed in the service or the food. I'll start by saying that being a nice person, gets you a long ways to having a good time in anything you do. But our server was so nice, and we spent something like 25 minutes with the manager just talking to her and joking around and getting to know the people. While at the restaurant we met three different people, and only one of them was our server. All super friendly and nice, and really helped us to know what was fun to do in Long Beach, CA. The food was good, I think my friend was a little disappointed in his salad, but over all I'd say it was a great place to be at, and a great view out the patio. Seeing as my group isn't the greatest at ordering drinks, I don't think we ordered what we necessarily liked, but I'd say that the drink I had was great, and I know my one friend enjoyed his. Happy hour is great! Margaritas and beer are $5 so are appetizers. The appetizers are decent amount and the drinks are big. Me and my Friends come almost every week especially for their happy hour. I was visiting family in town. My sister recommended we at meet here for dinner. This is a cool place to gather with friends, family, or coworkers. The margaritas were delicious and the food was fantastic. Most memorable experience for was our waitress Ieshia! She was amazing and ensured we had all that we needed to enjoy our evening together. THE MARGARITAS ARE AMAZING. Seriously - one of the best margaritas I've ever had. And it's only $8 for 20 oz - let me repeat that - 20 OUNCES! These things are HUGE, and delicious, and honestly strong. Tequila Jack's lives up to its "Tequila" name!! You also get endless chips and salsa which is always a great plus and was very yummy. The ambiance of this place is more of a bar scene than a restaurant. I had a hard time hearing my friend, so I wouldn't recommend this place for a quiet/romantic date. It's more of an upbeat and fun atmosphere. It's always pretty busy, so be prepared to wait. But, this area is perfect for waiting because there is cool shops and sites to see on the boardwalk! The boardwalk is definitely a huge appeal to this restaurant. I also recommend waiting for a spot outside, the view of the water is absolutely worth it! The service isn't exceptionally friendly, but it's VERY fast. It felt like there were 100 servers swarming around on the busy Friday night. These guys aren't really trying to chat, but rather open up your table for the next people. Lastly, I recommend getting a combination meal for the most bang for your buck - and specifically the burrito. The burritos are also very large and delicious! I went here with two friends after dinner next door. We were drawn like moths to the flame to the sultry red backlighting near the bar. When we entered up front there was construction like debris (boxes and what not) and the front of the restaurant looked way more posh than the place actually was. We had hoped it would be a kind of divey spot to grab a post dinner drink. Though the food looked good and the sizzling smell of fajitas wafted through the air, the service team seemed disorganized and chaotic. This was a Monday night mind you, and aside from a few patrons in the bar the place was not busy at all. There were many food expediters who were hustling like their lives depended on it, but we didn't understand the frenzied pace. At one point I saw a cook in his chef's coat walk out into the dining room...problem? or compliment? I'll go with the former. I didn't see a manager present or anyone with clout. The hostess seemed dazed and confused and the bartender was the worst. I stood patiently at the front of the bar near the drink drop off but not blocking it (as a former waitress I know how annoying this is when bar customers don't realize they're in the way). I smiled and made eye contact and the paunchy middle aged bartender grunted and said 'i'll be right with you, yanno what I'll just come over to the table'. I turned around like did this asshole just get snappy with me? The bartender if you can call him that, continued to clean up limes and dirty cups and 'wipe' down the bar area. It seemed he had a few conversations with down and out looking regulars. He then waddled over to our table and took our order not a trace of friendliness in his voice. It's like look we all get it, we've been servers before (my friends and I) but he was just awful. The drinks he made tasted like dog piss too. My friend and I got the dreamsicle which definitely did not do the dreamsicle justice. I tasted more orange juice than anything. My friend's boyfriend got a margarita. We departed and although I wanted to not tip at all, part of me felt badly for him and left him $ 2 on three drinks (not good but better than a demeaning dollar or stiffing him) because I figured maybe he is saving up to buy a toupee for his obvious male pattern baldness happening. This place is often packed so I guess that's a good sign, and they serve food fairly late. Definitely go for Happy Hour, and the late night Happy Hour. I really like their Margarita's- House Margarita's for $4.25 is a good deal to me. I went in a large party and they were able to seat us quickly. The chips and salsa are very tasty and I really liked my vegetable burrito. The wait staff was friendly and the service was quick. I went here for an early dinner yesterday. One of the positives, they have several flat screen tvs situated throughout tuned to all the current sporting events. The servers were also all very polite and friendly. However, the food was less than spectacular. My mexican rice tasted way too starchy, the beans were ok, and my chicken taco and cheese enchilada lacked any real flavor. My boyfriend got the beef crispy tacos and seemed pleased. After a few happy hours here we decided it was the right place to host our wedding rehearsal dinner. We expanded rehearsal dinner to include out of town family who came from miles away for the wedding. To be completely honest, I think I got a bit tipsy on the margaritas, beers and tequila shots and will not be providing intricate detail on our experience! Overall, everyone had a blast, the food was great and the drinks kept flowing. The staff was awesome and I felt cool handing out drink tickets to my family and friends :) It was an efficient way to keep track of drinks for the bill. I think we filled up on chips and salsa that by the time the server came by to ask for our order,we ended up just ordering a 2 plate combination,Baja fish taco and carnitas taco with black beans,Mexican rice,and Mexican corn bread. It wasn't anything magnificent. Presentation was ok,but wish that it could've been aesthetically better. Next time I go,I will just make sure to take advantage of their Happy Hour. We sat in the Bar section and even though I was steps from the actual bar itself it took forever to get my drink, House Margarita, nothing fancy. During the time we were there, I can't tell you how many times we heard the hostess yell over the loud speaker so and so, your table for 4 is Ready, it was constant and so loud that we couldn't talk while she was talking which was every other minute, that was probably the most annoying part. Not sure why they just don't hand out buzzers, that would make trying to socialize with your table much more pleasant. My food came and it looked good but was cold, The Mole was not so great (aside from being cold) and rice and beans were just average. I have previously came to this place about 30 minutes before it closed and I had great service and the food and margaritas came out quick. However, I came in with a few friends about an hour and a half before it closed and they refused to seat us. When we got a table at the bar, the service was terrible. We had one chips and we asked for more and they said they dumped out the chips an hour before it closed. Our food (nachos) didn't come out until an hour after we ordered. No server could explain why they dumped the chips when there is a ton of customers left or why the food took so long. Came here on a date with my hubby. It was a beautiful day at Shoreline and we chose this restaurant to have dinner. Lots of people waiting, but the front desk was very organized which helped in getting us seated quickly! The food was good, the ambiance was perfect! Lively place but not too loud. I Ordered chicken fajitas and was surprised to see a mound of bell peppers with some flat chicken on top. It didn't come on the usual platter sitting on top of a flame like any other upscale Mexican restaurant, which sort of brought the order down a notch. But it was good. They had beautiful chandeliers on the windows, which we sat next to. Unfortunately sitting next to them you got to see how dusty they were! It sort of made me want to sit elsewhere. I would love to give 5 stars here if cleanliness and a Wow factor for your top entrees would take priority. read more

We received the food fast.The happy hour menu which has variety of different appetizers. The portions were very small but the taste was spot on. Ask for a skinny margarita which they make respectively strong and use real lime juice. Basically tequila and lime juice. We had Tamales (1) chimichanga(2) Buffalo chicken wings(4) Fish Tacos (2) chicken tenders (4) overall good taste but for the price on the average appetizers were 4.95 I would order a meal or regular appetizers. TEQUILA JACKS if you award server of the year, Bryce better be the winner. Went for dinner as we had a craving for a fish tacos and guac. We were quickly seated outside which was perfect. After getting our chips and salsa (yum) it began to drizzle. Bryce led us indoors to a booth right by the big doors which still let us have an awesome view sans rain. He was such a GREAT server!
