Came here with my family for Mother's Day, hoping to enjoy the nice weather and a view of the boats. Which was the best part of the night. Unfortunately, the food was a big letdown. I ordered a cheeseburger with just patty, cheese, and bacon. The bun was soaked in oil and completely soggy I couldn't even eat it. The fries were way too salty, almost inedible. My mom had the grilled mahi-mahi and said it was bland with no flavor. Her boyfriend got the fajitas, but they came out in two separate plates, about 10 minutes apart, so the sides were cold by the time the rest arrived. The one highlight was our server, they were attentive and on top of drink refills and clearing plates. He's the only reason I give it 1 star Sadly, the food ruined what could've been a great night. Came for lunch and sat in the bar. The bar area open seating includes 4-5 four too high tables, which were all occupied by the time we left around 2 pm. Table service was excellent. Jose serving the tables is who I would want serving at my restaurant; knows the menu backwards and forwards, constantly coming around to check on needs without being intrusive at all. Excellent service! The location has big windows and doors opening into the harbor; great views and great ocean breezes. 5 star location. Decor is modern and clean. This is a very busy restaurant. Great happy hour and late night location. Food is fresh and many tasty Mexican dishes. Drinks are made strong. Very fun location overseeing the harbor. (1.50$ tacos). I am not a fan of the chile rellenos, the cheese is bland and the pepper is very soggy and does not offer that Smokey and flavorful and complex taste expected. The mini chimichangas are a good appetizer pick I must add. Parking is nearby, prepare to pay for parking and walk a small distance to the restaurant. The parking is also used by visitors headed to the shoreline village . Plenty of activities to enjoy nearby ! This is a popular place in a prime location so definitely expect at least an hour wait time. I've frequented here quite a bit and it's safe to say it's worth it. Though you may find service is not as up to par as other restaurants due to just how busy it gets. The margaritas are served in 20 oz goblets for $10 and are always made to perfection. The food is good, my favorite are the pictured carne asada soft shell tacos. I wasn't a fan of their mole sauce but everything else is pretty good. Ambience is definitely a 9/10. They play great music and are right next to the harbor. We were lucky to get a table right on the dock but with the new covers (pictures) the view is a bit distorted. They provide chips and salsa while you wait, the chips are warmed up and the salsa was regular Americanized type, fresh and watery if that's your liking. We were going to a show at the Terrace Theatre nearby and planned on eating at the Yard House, however the line was way too long to get in and we didn't have enough time so we thought we would just run next-door to Tequila Jack's. It's Mexican food, how bad could it be? Well....This was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. The chips that they brought out were hard and chewy. I have never gone to a Mexican restaurant and not finished a basket of chips in my life except for last night. I took two chips thinking maybe the second one would be better, nope. (As we were leaving the restaurant everybody's table had a full basket of chips on them. Nobody was eating them). We decided to eat off of the appetizer menu for happy hour because we were limited on time. We ordered chimichangas and taquitos. The chimichangas were OK, the taquitos came out with guacamole that was brown. God knows how long it had been sitting out. We also got chicken nachos but ordered before we knew what the chips were like. Our mistake. We left 3/4 of the nachos on the table. I do have to say that the service was good and friendly, but not enough to bring us back. Maybe it was a bad night, but quality control should have seen Brown guacamole and thrown it in the trash. Even though it doesn't really need it, you can choose a salad dressing. They had the standard ones like thousand island, Italian, and Cesar. The salad wasn't bad especially with the guacamole.
