When we checked in, however, we were told the wait for our table would be about 20 minutes. Instead, we waited over an hour. While waiting, we sat at the bar and ordered drinks and an appetizer. When the hostess finally came to seat us, she acknowledged how busy the restaurant had been, but there was no apology for the significant delay or any effort to make up for the inconvenience. Had we been told from the beginning that the wait would be over an hour, we could have made an informed decision about whether to stay. The overcrowding was also concerning. The restaurant appeared to be admitting more people than it could comfortably accommodate, creating a chaotic atmosphere and resulting in very slow service. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the wait. The dishes lacked flavor and seemed rushed. When we asked about the status of our food, we were essentially told that the restaurant was busy and that there was nothing that could be done. While we understand that holidays are challenging for restaurants, customers still deserve communication, empathy, and basic customer service. What disappointed us most was not the long wait itself--it was the lack of acknowledgment and concern from the staff throughout the evening. A sincere apology or some effort to address the inconvenience would have gone a long way. Sadly, this experience left a very bad impression, and we are seriously reconsidering whether we will return. read more

Tequila has had the same food that people love and come back specifically for as small as the chips and salsa and that was changed. My family and I came to Tequila Sunrise to listen to some live music. Ron and the Buggy Band was great and had people dancing, but the food was not as enjoyable. The sangria pitchers were 50 dollars each, but basically all ice, as were the mixed drinks. The sliced peaches on the dessert plates tasted like feet. The shrimp tacos had no taste. I tried my brother's mahi mahi tacos and they were much better. My dad said his fish tacos and my aunt said her fish dish also had no taste. The fried calamari and street corn were pretty good. We may have made the mistake of going to a Mexican restaurant on a Friday during lent... but it was unfortunately overall not very good. read more

Now the chicken tastes like rubber, the salad has the most bland greens and terrible dressing, fajitas are tasteless. Sorry to say, the new owner turned the place into an an inedible outlet. This place was cute! We came here to celebrate my grandma's birthday and they made it a great experience for her! The chips and salsa to start were delicious and the guacamole is even better - highly recommend. I ordered the mixed fajitas for dinner which was okay - definitely could have used more meat but the flavors were pretty decent. My boyfriend ordered a burrito which he was underwhelmed by. Over the weekend, made my first trip back under the new ownership. For years, the restaurant had been an oasis of community and cuisine--and a reasonably priced one. The wait stuff and cooks remain top notch, but the new owner has jacked up prices ($24 for street tacos, up from $16 just two weeks ago; cheapest margarita pitcher now $70--up from $50). I'll give Rio Bravo a shot now--and don't intend on going back to Tequila Sunrise for a while. read more

Came here on Thursday night to grab quick dinner. Place looked super clean and staff was nice and friendly. They brought complimentary salsa with chips that was very good. This place is perfect for a large group where atmosphere and drinks is the reason for the occasion. This is not a place where lovers of authentic Mexican will go and eat. Lovers of true Mexican food will despise this place. However it's perfect for the Westchester housewives. In another review of a Mexican place I criticized the nachos. This place does the same thing. You don't get a large pile of chips with stuff dumped all over it. You get approximately 8-9 nachos with each individual piece built perfectly with cheese and beans. I absolutely despise this ridiculous and useless way of serving nachos. Please stop. Overall the food is average. Nothing special. The decor is fun and drinks are strong. Considering the neighborhood it's fairly priced. True rating would be a 3.4 but rounded it up because complementary chips and salsa, a kids menu and the service is excellent. Then my husband had 3 taco's. Although it said ALL tacos are $3.00 each, not the mahi mahi or the filet mignon. And he wanted the mahi mahi. So he got them anyway. It was served with rice and beans. I went with the shrimp in the garlic sauce with vegetables and white rice. My friend ordered the combo of a chicken and shrimp fajita! We shared 2 desserts. Our drinks were loaded up w ice. We love this spot for dinner, especially in the summer when it's warm and the windows by the bar are open. Marco and Carlos behind the bar are the best and know their stuff when it comes to tequila. Excellent service too. Not sure why the other reviews aren't excellent but we've had nothing but a nice meal at the bar. Went here tonight for dinner with my mom. Last we were here was almost 8 years ago. Drinks were good. Food was aweful. Table was sticky. The salsa tastes bitter and salty. Guac was good. Empanadas were soggy and tasted like they were in freezer for a long time. I had the 3 enchiladas they were just ok. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to visit Tequila Sunrise on two separate occasions for semi-private parties. After experiencing the festive atmosphere and excellent service, it was an obvious choice as a venue for the welcome reception of our wedding weekend. We are so glad we chose Tequila Sunrise! From the very first event consultation, Rob was friendly, professional, and accommodating. He worked with us and made it easy to decide the layout and menu for our party. The space was a mix of standing room and seating, which was perfect for our 80 guests to socialize. On the night of, even though my family and I were running late from a prior event, our guests were in great hands with Rob and all the staff. Our guests' glasses and plates were never empty, everything ran smoothly, and we all had a great time. It was such a happy start to our wedding weekend, and we are so grateful to Rob and his team. I went to Tequila Sunrise recently and my experience was super poor. Not only my food was bad but the waiter was very rude to me and my friends. They treated us super bad, brought us cold food that tasted really weird and made us wait 50 minutes for our order when the restaurant was almost empty. The manager came over to our table to "investigate" our IDs because he said they were fake and started to ask weird questions that were really inappropriate. Overall, it was a very bad experience and I wouldn't recommend it. I wouldn't go there if you don't want to have the worst culinary experience of your life. read more

I love this place. It's been my go-to for ordering out a burrito for a while, but I'm even more excited after going for brunch this Saturday. I went with my husband and 3 year old, and they very quickly brought over a balloon, which was basically the highlight of the day for the toddler. The food was the highlight for me. I'm a big fan of their salsa, so we're already starting from a good place, but I loved that the brunch came with a drink (mimosa, sangria, some other options...) and an app (tortilla soup, salad, etc). Great brunch options for the main--outstanding chilaquiles, excellent chorizo hash and eggs, and a page of other things I want to go back to try. Sadly, my toddler hasn't developed a taste for Mexican food, but they had that covered too--he loved the chicken fingers and fries. This is my first Yelp ever. I have never been moved to write about a dining experience anywhere. However this evenings experience left me no choice but to warn other patrons. If all you are seeking is a place to sit outside have a drink and chips, then you will not be disappointed because you can do that anywhere and this could pass as anywhere. We have dined here before and in many of lower Westchester's eateries from super casual to five dining. Tonight however was probably my worst experience in 45 years of Westchester living and dining. The experience started less than stellar while sitting outside one could make the umbrellas work to shade the sun. Once we received our drinks and chips, we ordered appetizers. From that moment our waiter can over no less than 10 times pushing us to order main courses. ( the restaurant was not busy or full). When the food came it was the blandest, food we have ever tasted Mexican fare or otherwise. What was once a decent go to restaurant for food and ambiance is now a sad example of how not to run a restaurant No one in or dining party will ever go back, nor will we advise any of our friends and family. There are so many more tasty and friendly options for great Mexican fare in Westchester. read more
