We just went a week ago and I can't say enough good things about the place. It's our go to place now for my wife's insatiable taco habit. It doesn't have that hipster element you find at other more bright, and hipster IPA oriented taco places. Local Taco and Taquiero del sol I'm looking at you. I think it's excellent if you fit into a wide range of customer archetypes. 1. If you are a parent, they are accommodating of not only your kids, but also your predisposition to drink too much at dinner. I had a 32 oz modelo for 6 bucks. The group of parents next to us were going through several pitchers of margaritas while their kids blasted away villains on their cellphone games. Definitely kid friendly. 2. Alcohol friendly singles. There seemed to be an unusually large number of these types at the bar and outside. Seems like a good place to pick up that special somebody you don't want to know after you've sobered-up. 3. Someone who loves great Mexican food. They use authentic queso, corn-tortillas and have great carne asada (like that guy in syria?). So if you are looking for fresh authentic Mexican food this is not the place for you. Food came out within 3 minutes of ordering which only tells me they have everything already made in the back like a buffet. No flavor in anything. We got chorizo cheese dip, fajitas, enchiladas, quesadillas, and a chalupa (that came out as a tostada), so I'm not basing this on just one thing. Oh and drinks were mostly syrup. Following a miserable experience at another restaurant, Tequila's warmly welcomed our party of fifteen without reservation, and saved my daughter's third birthday celebration! The efficient, amiable waitstaff, not only beautiful to look at, were so good to our group of lively young children, and the food was excellent! Our server, Francisco did a fantastic job, recording multiple orders effortlessly, while unobtrusively clearing mountains of dishes, wrapping paper and other debris to ensure a clean, safe space for the kiddos to party. They particularly loved the Mexican birthday song and the dazzlingly bejeweled sombrero. We've been going to this place for a few years now. It is, I feel safe to say, the best Mexican food in the city! I have never, never, had a bad experience here. The food is so fresh and flavorful, the staff and owners are friends and treat us as such, the atmosphere is laid back and happy. The prices are very reasonable and you can usually find a coupon in the monthly coupon mailer that everyone in west nashville gets. My two favorite dishes are the fajitas texanas and the poblano peppers. Plus, I just can't go there without getting the bean dip...it's great! I've also gotten food a' la carte and it's all wonderful. We used to visit several other Mexican restaurants in town and thought they were great, but now I can't even eat their food anymore...it's Tequila's only for me... Just remember, if you go there on cinqo de mayo it will be crowded and there will be a wait...but that's just part of it, so if you can't deal with things like that then go to a chinese restaurant on cinqo and visit tequila's the next day! read more

I've spent a lot of time on Yelp talking about the glories of "authentic Mexican" food, which is actually readily available in Nashville. Of course, there's plenty of TexMex and Americanized Mexican food available in Nashville too, and I happen to think that's a good thing. Sometimes you just want to eat something that's slathered in cheese sauce, am I right? U.S. Border Cantina used to be our go-to spot for Mexican food when I was craving queso and margaritas, but now that it's gone to the restaurant graveyard in the sky, Tequila's is our new haunt when we're in the mood for Meximerican (a term of my own creation) food. I think most of these "Mexican" restaurants are pretty interchangeable, but Tequila's food is legitimately very tasty (the fajita burrito is enough for two, though it's so yummy you won't want to share) and has lightning fast service. Additionally, while it doesn't serve the best margaritas I've ever had, it does offer up decent incarnations of them, and for a reasonable price, too. For $6.50, you can get a top-shelf marg that will seriously rev your engine. Better yet, they have plenty of drink specials, including $15 margarita pitchers on the weekend (and they're even cheaper during the week), which makes getting your tequila fix all the easier. So not authentic by any means, but still good in its own right. The food is filling and inexpensive and the service is friendly. Sometimes that-and a margarita- are all you need. read more

The regular stand-bys : Chuys, Las Palmas, Cinco De Mayo, just don't even compare. The prices are good, the service great, it looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but once you step inside you'll see...this real mexican food the way it should be! Get the combo plate and choose your favorites. I ordered chicken burrito, chicken chille relleno, and chicken quesadilla with beans and rice only $10! This restaurant opened a few years ago. It's tucked into a corner of a shopping plaza, so I overlooked it at first. I finally went in after it had been open for a few months. The food was excellent then and has continued to be of the best quality every single time I go there. My husband and I go to Tequila's all the time. It is definitely one of the best mexican restaurants in town. We've brought family members and several of our friends and they all loved it too. We always get the Fajitas Texanes which has beef, chicken and shrimp and one order is enough for us to split. They are the best fajitas I've ever had. The margaritas are delicious as well. My dad always tries the special of the day, and has never been let down. The staff is friendly and they always have a warm atmosphere. Nope. Just nope. Slow service, felt ignored for most of my visit. Asked several times for a hotter salsa, as did the booth behind me. They got theirs, I never got mine. Water glass sat empty more than full. The refried beans seemed more like what you'd get in a Taco Bell burrito, flavorless and runny. The tacos were palatable, the rice was bland, and overall I felt like the $12 I paid for a single plate and a water was a waste of @$10. Gave them a try, next time I'll just do Taco Bell. read more

WOW! Where do I start. Ok, family owned by dad & mom. Jr & Sr work there as well with extended friends & family. Tequila selection is incredible. Try the "corralejo" resposado. . Their chicken soup on the À la cart menu is 2nd to none. Food is great. Service is great. They are friendly and seem to care. They recognize you if you are a frequent. Tequila's is our (husband and i) favorite mexican in town. I really like the cheese enchiladas (the sauce is amazing) and they have good spinach burritos too. If you want to splurge try the papas con queso (french fries with queso sauce). Not healthy but oh so good! The staff is friendly. The manager / owner always makes us feel very welcome. It's also a good place to eat while there is a game on. Husband can keep an eye on the game (they have a couple of tv's) while you eat. Oh and don't forget the mango margaritas! read more

I finally found a local place that measures up to the Mexican food I love from Houston, Texas! The staff here is incredibly friendly. Mario, Oscar, Adolfo... You guys are great! So fast and high quality. I'm a regular, so I have tried most of the menu, which is very diverse. I love everything here! The mole sauce is about the only thing I didn't love, but the guys who work here love it. I almost always get a beef taco on the side. My favorite cheese enchilada takes me back to my childhood. The deluxe enchiladas are excellent (change the bean to a second cheese, trust me), as are the chimichangas and quesadillas. The fish tacos are not exactly Baja style, but are very unique. They survived the renovation of the shopping center and are in a convenient location near Nashville West. See you there! read more

Tequila's is a weekly ritual for our family. The staff is amazing, the food is always great, and the margaritas and sangria can't be beat! The price is fair for the excellent quality. We are greeted by smiles every time we visit this restaurant. The chips and salsa are fresh. We receive our drinks quickly. Our order is taken and our food delivered promptly. Our food is always correct. Our drinks are never empty. We don't wait for our check. We get out as easily as we got in. My favorite thing about Tequila's is that my husband and I can enjoy dining here with our children. Our oldest son (age 3) knows to order his "cold salsa", a chilled, pepperless version of the house salsa, as soon as we are seated. He orders his regular, the children's taco, rice, and beans, and it always comes out of the kitchen just how he ordered it- sometimes he likes to mix it up. The staff is kind to our kids, and they always remember them and interact with them as if they are little adults. As a parent, it makes me feel good that my kids enjoy our time out as much as we do. Place is much bigger than it looks. Our pitcher of strawberry margaritas didn't have any alcohol in it--delicious but everyone agreed, no alcohol. Server polite, English was difficult and he didn't understand our questions. Food came within minutes, incredibly fast. Nice sized portions, delicious and reasonably priced.
