Short and sweet review... First off, the salsa is delicious! It's probably one of my favorites I've had yet. Queso is good as well. Second, the margaritas are tasty..though I don't think there's much alcohol in them. We went on a Wednesday and paid $20/pitcher but on Thursday and Monday its only $13/pitcher. We lose. Mainly went here with my husband and some friends for a friend's birthday dinner. I really loved the decor...it seemed a little more modern than a regular Mexican food restaurant. The staff was very welcoming and the waiters for our table were awesome. I wasn't too hungry, so I only ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla and a bowl of cheese dip to split with my husband. Both were delicious! The only thing I didn't care for were the prices...we paid nearly $6 for my quesadilla, when I have gotten it cheaper at other restaurants. Went here with some friends for a birthday dinner and I was blown away. While a little pricier than most mexican restaurants they give you a huge amount of food for what you pay. Also, while their menu selection is smaller, they have a pick 2 or pick 3 combo option where you can choose from any combination made up of burrito, taco, chili relleno, enchilada, quessadilla, chalupa, tostada and tamale. And regardless of the combination you get beans and rice, plus you can add their yummy queso on-top of your food for 99 cents extra. When you stop and consider the different varieties each item typically comes in (chicken, beef, cheese, etc...) and factor it in to the possible combinations, who needs a combo menu! This is pure genius and so delicious. And the cheese, oh the cheese. I could not get enough of the queso, so I had queso on my beans (they come with it), queso on my rice, queso on my quesadilla and of course... Cheese enchiladas topped with queso..... I had the most wonderful food coma after finishing my meal and look forward to the next one. This is easily one of my top 5 Mexican restaurants, possibly top 3. read more

I had the flautas and my hubby had a burrito. I'm proud to say that I was the best picker this go around. Typically, I end up liking his meals better than mine. Everyone talked about the cheese dip so we got some. I'm spoiled by oklahoma mexican Restaurants bc queso is like salsa and they just give it to you, but even so, it's worth getting the cheese dip. About a 25 dollar ordeal for 2 meals and the dip. Something I really liked are the generous portions of guac and sour cream! I'd go again. If I lived here! read more

The BEST Mexican food in Nashville, no contest! I relocated from Texas, and have had a really hard time finding halfway decent Mexican food + had all but abandoned hope that I'd be able to get my fix without making a trip back home...enter Tequila's. I have ordered delivery from them a handful of times, and visited the restaurant last night--beyond impressed! The dining room is warm and inviting, SUPER CLEAN (like scored 100 with the health dept clean), and the staff was friendly and attentive. They were all working as a team + it was almost funny how quickly items we ordered would show up at the table after we asked; service standards were impeccable. AND THE FOOD. Between the margaritas, queso, salsa, and Fajitas Texanes with rice and beans, nothing we tried was less than fantastic. I'm giving this place 4 stars for one reason. It was way better then I expected. My girlfriend and I were looking for a New Mexican restaurant and saw this on yelp. We knew where it was and thought it would be a shady place. The shopping center it's in has that sort of appearance and vibe but being adventitious we decided to try it anyways. When we walked in I was pleasantly surprised with how clean and friendly the staff was. The food was like most Mexican I have encountered in Nashville and frankly I like El Stuffed Pepper or Rose Pepper better but over all everything was pleasant and the food wasn't bad. If your feeling adventurous and can't make up your mind like my girlfriend and I then take a chance on this place. I think you'll be surprised like we were. read more

The service is unparalleled... within 60 seconds of sitting down we were presented with silverware, chips/salsa, and offered drinks. Best Mexican in town! Some of the menu has a Carribean flair. The Tex-Mex Enchiladas are great. This place has the best margaritas in town. Probably the best I've had in the US! Very friendly staff. Yum! The bf and I came here for dinner on halloween weekend and enjoyed delicious Mexican food. I loved the quesidillas I ordered and the chips and salsa were solid. The employees were decked out for the holiday and one of them tried (somewhat unsuccessfully) to scare me, which was pretty fun. In the south there is a term "Fair to Middlin'". I suppose this pretty adequately sums up Tequila's. Once you get past the fact that the seats are very hard and the table and booths seem to be on ice, scooting around despite your best efforts to keep them in place (When I went to leave I almost took the booth out the door with me). Service was good, but the menu warns that each table gets TWO helpings of Chips. I'm not sure if they are sticklers for this or if its just on there to prevent you from having an "All You Can Eat Chip Buffet." The Fried Burritos would appear to be the signature dish, and I was not disappointed in them. They didn't particularly blow me away, but I found them to be satisfactory. If you are in the mood for a burrito, but really wish it was fried. This is your stop. read more

Have frequented Tequila's for many years, but I'm sad to say it's going down hill. There's all new staff in there these days, which may have a lot to do with it. Tonight there was miscommunication about a vegetarian fajita burrito order with the waiter. What arrived was a flour tortilla filled almost entirely with onions, beans and rice were on the side. Gross, but miscommunications are not fatal, was hoping to have the kitchen readjust the burrito. However, the waiter became argumentative with me, taking no culpability for the miscommunication. Even the manager treated me like a schmuck. They did eventually offer me something else, but I declined - I'll never take food from an angered food staff! Sorry to say that after over 50 trips to my favorite local Mexican place, this experience turned me and I will not ever be going back. read more

I would give 4 stars if it wasn't for one thing. The fajitas are always on point except the most recent time , I got maybe 3/4 pieces of chicken on a dinner menu order of fajitas and I wasn't pleased. The food comes out quickly which is always good. However the smell of the cigarette smoke coming from outside is so unpleasant and makes your food taste disgusting, take away the outdoor smoking because every time the door opens the horrible smell from cigarettes hits you in the face. read more

Sigh. I grew up in Southern California where Mexican food is fresh, authentic and GOOD. I moved back to TN about 42 years ago and I'm STILL searching for a good Mexica food restaurant. I wanted Mexican food for my birthday lunch ( April 16th ) so I suggested Tequila's- a place we hadn't tried yet. The host was friendly, the atmosphere was nice, and the place looked very clean. There was three of us and we requested a table outside. The patio overlooks the parking lot so the view certainly isn't a draw, but it was a nice day. The chips were good and taste homemade. The salsa was okay, but the guacamole was fresh and made to order. It was good.I don't remember what we ordered for lunch because it was over a month ago. Obviously, the food didn't make a great impression on me. I will say this - Tequila's is better than a couple of other Mexican restaurants on the west side. Unfortunately, that isn't a huge compliment. I'm still on my quest to find the best Mexican food in Nashville. From what I hear, Nolensville Road is in my future. read more

This was my first time at this place, I was over at Costco and thought I'd see if this was a find for authentic inspired Mexican food.....and it was a BIG NO. Everything is straight up out of a darn Sysco bag/can. No inspiration or creativity at all! A pile of mass produced crap smothered in copious- barely melted amounts of cheese. I think they try to hide the bad food with cheese! Try Chuy's (where they actually make their tortillas, their poblanos are to die for, and they have 4-5 unique sauces to choose from! At least Chuy's has a little imagination How stupid do some of these restaurants think we Joe public are? I mean its pretty obvious what Tequilas serves is crap. And the waiters here are to consumed with hitting on young teen aged girls and trying to get a lay lined up for the night. Yeah I saw that today.I wont be back. It really sucked. Not since visiting Joe T. Garcia's in Ft. Worth, TX have I had this fine of food at a Mexican restaurant. The red sauce on the cheese enchilada was the best I've ever tasted. The spinach burrito was especially tasty. My wife had the chicken chimichanga which was very tasty as wThe waiter was extremely attentive & kind. The margarita was the largest margarita I've ever had. A great place to eat, and a great experience. A must if you are visiting the West side of Nashville. read more

I'm a fan. Food is fresh and tasty and the menu has a number of inventive selections you don't find at the average Mexican joint. My favorite is the Chef's Special, which is a steak on a bed of chorizo-mashed potatoes, with veggies, beans and cheese. Good service, comfy, good prices. It's a win in West Nashville! read more

Wonderful spot to eat. We came for Sunday Brunch, and we're delighted with the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the value. I don't often find high quality and variety in vegetarian offerings at Mexican restaurants, so was pleasantly surprised. I tried the spinach burrito, and it was delicious! Marinade on meat offerings (incl. shrimp!) was spot-on tasty. We asked for the "best value" on Margaritas (which were tasty), and our server suggested two of the mediums, which were $10 each. On the way out though, we saw that on Sundays there is a special for a pitcher of margaritas for $15, which would've been a better value in our opinion.
